• Funding Sources: Half-Cent Sales Taxes and nearly
$2,000,000 in grants including 2 from Texas Parks and Wildlife,
San Angelo Health Foundation, Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality and National Endowment for the Arts.
• Improvements to Include: stabilization of the banks from
Oakes Street upriver to the vicinity of Sulphur Draw, additional
trails and trail improvements, new lighting, an outdoor exercise
area, public art, shaded sitting areas, water features and other
special elements.
• Work outside of contract includes trail section on SAHF property
and some existing trail renovation.
• Note: dredging of the river occurred in 2009 from Sulphur Draw
upriver to 14th
Street at a cost of about $1,500,000.
