1. The concept of the music video is to portray the journey of relationships through one person's experience of getting over a breakup and finding new love. It will show him happy at first when thinking about past relationships, then angry and upset about his breakup, before eventually finding a new love.
2. The narrative will show the main actor hiking up a mountain, initially happy while reminiscing about his past relationship through flashbacks. When his ex breaks up with him, he becomes sad and angry. He calms down higher on the mountain before finding a woman and beginning a new relationship.
3. Various camera shots and editing techniques will be used to create an exciting atmosphere representing the journey to finding new love

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Concept
The overall concept of the music video will focus on portraying the journey of
relationships in life. By doing this, we plan to show different levels of
relationships including problems like emotionally and physically. We plan to
focus on one person on their journey to find a new love after his heart has been
broken by his previous love. The main person will appear happy at first as he
thinks about the happier times in his life. As the music video progresses, he will
appear to be getting angry and upset as he thinks about his break up. This will
work effective as the music will then build up again and will show the artist
getting happier. This eventually leads to him finding a new love at the end of his
journey, whose face and identity is never revealed, leaving it open to
interpretation to the audience.
3. 3
Narrative and Performance
The narrative and performance will be combined together to represent the
journey of relationships in life, in an amplifying way.
We will first try to represent this journey by presenting the male actor at the
bottom of Roseberry Topping. As he begins his journey travelling up the
mountain, he will appear happy, as he will be smiling about his previous
relationship, as he reminisces on the good times they shared. We will show this
idea of reminiscing by using flash backs of good times that they shared. The
positive flash backs will then turn negative by showing his ex girlfriend ending
the relationship. This will then cause the male actor’s mood to change and
appear more aggressive and sad. This is effective as it highlights that he was
happy in the relationship and he did not want the relationship to end that way.
This mood will then change by showing a calmer side to the actor by showing
sights of the top of the mountain and presenting him in a happy light. This will
eventually lead to him reaching the top of the mountain, where he lays eyes on a
female actress in the distance and begins to walk over to her. This represents the
beginning of a new relationship. This will be shown in a MLS and will eventually
go blurry. This is effective as it represents that as a relationship begins, there is
no clarity on what will happen next.
4. 4
Love
The main theme we will be attempting to portray in our music video is love. This
will be done mainly by the performance of the actors and actresses, as there will
be essences of passion shown in several frames before the break up is revealed.
This will also be highlighted in a way using colour tones, within the frames of the
flash back, by using bright and bold colours. This will hopefully give connotations
of happiness and joy within the frame, thus representing the theme of love.
Isolation
The idea of isolation will be completely left to the audience’s interpretation by
using an amplifying narrative. The theme of isolation will be presented in a
subtle way, by including the artist in the frame by himself on his journey up the
mountain. This is used to represent that people may feel alone when they are
single, but their journey is worth travelling to get the end result. The female
actress, who plays his new love, being framed on the top of Roseberry Topping
on her own, also portrays this. This is effective as it can be interpreted to
represent their similarities between them, implying that they are meant to be
together.
Camera and Editing
We plan to include a large variety of camera shots including: CU, MS, and LS. This
is to create a livelier atmosphere to the music video, which will effectively
represent that the journey to meeting a new love can be filled with excitement.
For instance, we will include: some CU which the artist will be lip singing in
whilst making direct address with the audience; MS of the relationship before
the breakup and finally LS to show the new beginning of the new relationship.
The last camera shot within the music video will be LS that will be very poor in
focus. This will be an attempt to represent that lack of clarity when beginning a
new relationship and the issue of never knowing what to expect.
The overall pace of edit will be frequent fast cuts. This is to help follow
conventions of the soft rock genre, but also works effectively in maintaining the
theme of an exciting journey to find a new love. This will also be represented by
the use of elliptical edits that we will use as he travels up the mountain, which
will help show the development of time over a shorter period of time.
5. 5
Lighting
The lighting we have chosen to use for our music video will be high key. We plan
to film at approximately 1pm to include high key lighting within the frames – as
it is at mid-day. This will hopefully be affective, as it will give the implication of
the juxtaposition between the music and the visuals as he is singing about a
breakup but is in an environment with a happy atmosphere. Eventually, we will
be filming for a long period of time, in order to catch the sun gradually setting in
the back of the frame as the artist runs to his new love.
Mise En Scene
Overall: the high key lighting; the passionate facial expressions; setting at
Roseberry Topping and the amplifying narrative and concept will hopefully
create a passionate and loving mise en scene. This will hopefully create our idea
perfectly and will hopefully work well in order to illustrate the journey of
relationships. For instance, the warm glow from the sun is effective as it can
represent the warm glow you receive when you start a new relationship. The
feeling of having your head in the clouds at the beginning of the relationship, as
you are happy is represented by the height of the mountain.
