2. Today’s Objectives...
We will answer point of view questions about
Act 5.
We will discuss the relationship between
groups of characters.
We will self edit and peer edit our papers.
We will discuss our ideas, reactions and
questions about the play by talking about
the questions we wrote.
3. Warm Up: Whose point of view?
What is point of view?
Point of view:
Each of the sentences does not appear in
the play...
but, if they did, who would say them?
use each character 2 times: Romeo, Juliet,
Paris, Friar Lawrence, Lord Capulet.
When you finish, work with a partner to
write more point of view sentences on the
back.
4. Now, think about the following characters and what you know about them.
Work with a partner to write a sentence for each character that they didn’t actually say in
the play…but they could have!
Character’s Name What do you know about Write a sentence from his/her point
him/her? of view:
Tybalt
The Nurse
Prince
Lady Montague
Rosaline
Druggist
Balthasar
5. Relationships between
characters
We will get into small groups of 2-3.
You will be given a list of 4 characters and a
list of different “relationships” - ways the
characters might be connected.
Your group needs to decide:
Which character doesn’t belong with the other 3.
What the relationship is between the 3 remaining
characters. Choose from the list.
Then, discuss how you know that this is the relationship
between them.
6. Example
Characters:
Tybalt, Rosaline, Cousin Capulet, Romeo
1. Which character doesn’t belong with the others?
2. What is the relationship between the other 3
characters?
In favor of Juliet’s Part of Juliet’s
