2. Background of IPC:
• It was founded in the year of 1958
• Head Quarters are located in London
• IPC is a consumer magazine and digital publisher in the UK.
• Has a large portfolio selling over 350 million copies each year.
• The company was renamed IPC and in 2001 was sold to the company
‘Time Inc’ which is the magazine publishing subsidiary of Time Warner.
Furthermore…
• I think IPC has a large and wider ranged audience because it publishes a
range of magazines targeted at a range of audiences.
• IPC Media may be interested in publishing my pop/chart music magazine.
A reason for this would be due to the fact they’ve published a variety of
music magazines which cover well known ones such as ‘NME’. This
emphasises they have a past of publishing a music genre magazine
therefore have experience in this particular industry. However, my
magazine covers a different type of music genre which is pop/chart so
therefore it’ll bring something new to the public.
3. Furthermore, IPC Media will be a good kind of media institution in order to distribute my
magazine because it has it’s own website. In my opinion, this plays an important role as it
will attract a wider spread audience, including the younger generation as they tend to
be the most popular age to use the internet and the latest technology. This will then go
further into successful word of mouth where people talk to their friends about the
website which will gain the corporation a higher reputation. By having a website also this
creates an extra selling point as it’s another way of advertising the IPC Media products.
