You might have heard of something called microblogging, and this is where Twitter comes in.
In June 2009, in the aftermath of presidential elections in Iran, protestors used Twitter as a rallying tool and as a method of communication with the outside world;

We are going to now watch completely different videos posted on YouTube, each with their own message, each with their own idea. YouTube is an amazing media tool used not only to share personal ideas, but also great tool for knowledge. One of the videos for instance shows how three total strangers came together for a project.
Each of these websites, offers a unique opportunity to look deeper than just personal profiles and pretty pictures. I will give you one example: when two of my friends Emin and Adnan- youth activists- were arrested for us Facebook became a platform to keep the world updated on what was going on in the country. while many of us use “share” button on Facebook ever so often to post a video or movie clip, we also use to share news, bad or good, interesting facts across the world and what not.
Of course, you may ask: why bother. Well here is an answer for you.
