As with ALL networking - give before you take No networking should be used for hard selling - it ’ s about building trust and relationships What - updates about what you are doing (remember confidentiality) News, industry information, links to your blogs Best idea is to observe what others do. If you have business followers - don ’ t say you are having coffee at X - but do praise the service or delicious coffee at a particular coffee shop Some people call social networking for business - business networking. Remember if you wouldn ’ t say to someone ’ s face at a networking event then best you don ’ t Tweet it. NEXT SLIDE: WHO TO FOLLOW

Before you embark on social networking your need to establish a strategy, what your goals are and how you will achieve them To be effective it needs to be a habit - plan ahead, make time to deliver your strategy You need to be consistent - in your approach, in how you represent your brand, with your frequency of communication Remember - give before you take - retweet, comment on blogs. Social media is not a heavy selling platform.
