You’re a Senior Developer, providing value through producing great code, planning features and by mentoring junior team members. You may be considering how to progress your career - if you want to stay technical rather than move into management then the role of Technical Team Lead is worth considering.
The technical team lead is responsible for the technical leadership of one or more teams. Typical responsibilities include:
- Coding: importantly, Technical Team Leads still spend a large portion of their time “in the code”
- High level planning of product architecture and features
- Making or adjudicating technical decisions that affect the whole project or team
- Taking care of your team (socially, managing growth and through learning and development)
This talk covers what a day in the life of a Tech Lead is like, which skills you should develop and which opportunities within your business to pursue to help you reach your goals. I’ll use examples from my own experience and that of fellow leads to help you make the progression to the Lead role.

You can download this slide program and remove the red tag. This supervisor development course and supervisor development program is also created to reduce risk, reduce employee complaints, reduce the likelihood of EEOC complaints, reduce risk of sexual harassment, reduce violence, improve productivity, and many other payoffs. This supervisor development course is also available as a web course with 35 test questions, handouts, and certificate of completion. You won't find a supervisor development course like this one anywhere. We know, because we create this one ourselves to train supervisors specifically in skills for supervisors and topics for supervisors that none of the staff at Arlington County Government and Arlington Public School system ever had. As a result, supervisors left training more confident and secure that they could address issues with employees more effectively. The best part of this supervisor development program is the Flash Movie format with professional narrations. It uploads to any website and supervisor can go to your website and click on any skills and get a brush up on the fly in any supervisory skill or topic that pertains to the management situation they are dealing with immediately with their employee. That is completely unheard of in a supervisor development course or supervisor development program where a one-day intense training at some hotel leaves supervisors excited for only 4-5 hours later. After that, the training of supervisors fizzles fast. This supervisor development program sticks. Supervisor classes and certification for supervisors is hard to find. But this course will also issue of certification that the course was complete. It's not for credit, but any supervisor participating in this program will pick up practical information in supervisory skills that will far out-do their peers who have never been any any formal supervisor training -- even those who have -- because most of them forget what they were exposed to at that one day hotel seminar.

When it comes to leadership, everyone's got an opinion. And yet, take a look around and it's clear for all to see that, in spite of the vast amounts of research and books published on the subject, it seems we are none the wiser. What's more, in many organisations, the topic of leadership is taboo because it casts doubt on those who should be leading but are not.
In this interactive workshop, we'll explore what leadership is and what it isn't, how we can do it better (even if we don't have the official role of 'leader') and why the world needs all of us to become better leaders.
As a apprentice leaders, we will share stories and lessons learned in an attempt to make sense of what leadership is and how to get better at what is fast becoming a life skill in order to thrive in a frenetic and ever-changing world.

In the field of employee development, an area that creates much confusion is the differences between business coaching and business mentoring.
This confusion often causes companies to opt for mentoring or coaching without understanding that they serve a different purpose and follow different paths to employee development. A failure to understand these differences often leads to disappointing results and the (understandable) mistake of blaming coaching (or mentoring) rather than realizing that the company created the wrong system.
At Management Mentors, we’re often asked to explain the differences. This brings us to the purpose of this white paper. We hope to provide you with a better understanding of coaching and mentoring and a process for determining which approach is best suited for your organization’s specific needs.

Before we begin, we’d like to offer one caveat. Though mentoring and coaching are distinct, they do share common elements. It is often a difference in emphasis and outcomes that creates the distinction. Also, there are some coaches who have the ability to act as mentors. Likewise, there are mentors who, in some instances, act more like coaches. What we’re seeking to accomplish in this slide deck is to articulate general differentiators that may not apply in all cases but that apply in most.

Developing Leaders Through a Structured Leadership Development ProgramWong Yew Yip
Many organizations realize the importance of effective leadership to enable an organization to achieve its vision, mission and strategic objectives and to make the organization successful. These organizations place high priority on the training and development of their leaders at various levels and embark on leadership development programs.
Unfortunately, many organizations go for the so-called "quick wins" by conducting a 2-5 days leadership development program, believing this will solve their leadership issues and booster business performance. These organizations have got to be realistic as it is just impossible to develop and turn people into instant effective leaders in 2-5 days.
To develop effective leaders, a Structured Leadership Development Program is needed with a proper process and blueprint for implementation, the duration of which could be at least 6 months.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

A tale of scale & speed: How the US Navy is enabling software delivery from l...sonjaschweigert1
Rapid and secure feature delivery is a goal across every application team and every branch of the DoD. The Navy’s DevSecOps platform, Party Barge, has achieved:
- Reduction in onboarding time from 5 weeks to 1 day
- Improved developer experience and productivity through actionable findings and reduction of false positives
- Maintenance of superior security standards and inherent policy enforcement with Authorization to Operate (ATO)
Development teams can ship efficiently and ensure applications are cyber ready for Navy Authorizing Officials (AOs). In this webinar, Sigma Defense and Anchore will give attendees a look behind the scenes and demo secure pipeline automation and security artifacts that speed up application ATO and time to production.
We will cover:
- How to remove silos in DevSecOps
- How to build efficient development pipeline roles and component templates
- How to deliver security artifacts that matter for ATO’s (SBOMs, vulnerability reports, and policy evidence)
- How to streamline operations with automated policy checks on container images
