Hannah Atkinson is drafting a music magazine. She experimented with different photos and layouts for the front cover before settling on one she was happy with. She added branding elements and was nearly finished. For the contents page, she tried different designs before placing photos and text in a layout that worked. She made a few tweaks and added advertisements. She took a photo and designed text to flow off the page for a double-page spread.

2. Front Cover
To start with I decided on this
photo as my background but then I
realised that it didn’t really fit in to
what I was aiming for.
The font choice I was happy with so
I decided to stick with that.

3. I changed the photo and I was much
happier with it. On the masthead I
used the clone tool to add the effect
of it trailing off the edge of the page
and being never ending.
I then went on to adding all the
anchorage and items carrying on
with the colour scheme and fonts.

4. I then became close to finishing the
cover with only a few more items to
place on it such as a graphic feature
and a web address and the issue
number.

5. Contents
To start with I didn’t really know what to
do for my contents page so I
experimented with doing things like this.
But I didn’t like it so I changed it
completely.

6. So I started with placing photo’s in
the right places and working around
them with the text that needed to be
placed onto the contents page.

7. Now my contents page was coming
together and only needed a few
tweaks to get it finished. I just
needed to place something in the
blank spaces. Originally I tried
adding single photos of the guys in
the band and put little individual
interviews next to them but I
decided against that and put
advertisements there for
competitions.

8. Double Page
For this I started out with the photo and worked around it.
Once again I wanted the text to flow off the page so I used the
clone tool to give it that effect.
