This study aimed to find out how STEM collage students' use of different course resources in an LMS predict their final grades. They used Logistic Regression Models to estimate assosciation between resourse use and final grade. The results showed that there is a positively significant association between exam-related sources use and final grade. On the other hand, when students use lecture-related resources, then they are less likely to have good grades. Waddington, R. J., Nam, S., Lonn, S., Teasley, S. D. (2016). In this study, the purpose was to compare about 10 prediction methods and find out which one is most effective in university students' garde. They used Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE) to compare the prediction methods. They found that Factorization Matrix (FM)-Random Forest (RF) hybrid the most effective method in general. It is an effective method to overcome the cold-start limitations that FM could not handle. This article is an ongoing doctoral research and it aims to compare academics’ perceptions of quality assurance mechanisms for ensuring undergraduate student learning outcomes between Taiwan and England. Since 2012, the Foundation for Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (2013) has been conducting the second 5-year cycle of higher education evaluation. The aim of this evaluation is to examine the mechanisms and practice of each department and graduate school for ensuring their student learning outcomes. The issue of student learning outcomes is an important trend in the global higher education, but some challenges must be dealt with in Taiwan during the processes of policy borrowing (Phillips, 2009) since the new policy mainly refers experience to the UK’s quality assurance and the US’s accreditation systems. The primary challenges are the construction and implementation of the quality assurance mechanisms for learning outcomes in each university, and it has been argued that some implicit and non-cognitive learning outcomes are difficult to assess (Chen, 2013). The empirical research is a comparative case study involving two purposively selected universities in England and Taiwan. In-depth, semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted with 10 academics in each country. Most participants work in the field of education and they are at the different levels- university, faculty and department. It is supposed that academics’ perceptions could be different between the two countries, and academics within the same university could differ in their viewpoints on this issue. Also, public meeting minutes and internal quality assurance policies about student learning outcomes within the two universities were analysed. The initial findings of this study will be presented and discussed, including the similarities and differences of quality assurance mechanisms for ensuring learning outcomes between the two countries. Another focus of discussion will be on academics’ positive and negative perceptions of the implementation and influences of the mechanisms and their suggestions for the improvements of the systems.

Universities that don’t enjoy high demand have to worry about their admissions yield policy. While some universities have the prowess to admit as few as 5 percent of applicants, even these universities must consider admissions yield before they can set such low admissions standards. Even elite universities have to balance the books and enrollment is usually the largest portion of what pays the bills. For the thousands of universities without demand high enough to decline 90+% of applicants yearly, knowing the predictors of admissions yield are especially important.

Background/Objectives: While the increase in classroom technology, it is necessary to examine how assessment is administered through technology. The purpose of this study is to understand how students and faculty are perceived and examine the effectiveness of the computer-based assessment in professional education courses (Educational Technology) at Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College, Iloilo, Philippines. Methods: The research design utilized in this study is mixed-method research. A computer-based assessment was utilized to assess students' performance in educational technology. This instrument was validated, and pilot tested to establish reliability. Each campus of NIPSC selected ten students of 70 as respondents during Academic Year 2016-2017. Frequency count, mean, standard deviation, and Wilcoxon signed-rank test were statistical tools used for data analyses. Findings: The study's finding showed a high score of students in the posttest ensured better performance of the students in educational technology. The increase in the posttest per performance level of the students was due to an accurate measure of what they have learned in educational technology. The majority of students users agreed that online assessment was fasters than the paper and pencil form. Also, users agreed that online assessment is contemporary and more systematic. They also stated that online assessment is consistent with the teaching style, but they are less anxious. Furthermore, according to faculty and students, ninety percent (90%) believed that computer-based assessment accurately measures what they are teaching and what they learned in school, respectively. Novelty: With the current situation that the education system is in new normal, computer-based learning is important in flexible learning. And assessment using technology is a great help to both faculty and students. Thus, state universities and colleges (SUCs) should adopt this innovation to help teaching and learning.

The primary goal of this research was to investigate AOU students' conceptions of the quality of online experience through the learning management system in supporting their classroom tutorials. A 32-item questionnaire was administered to a randomly selected sample (205) of Elementary Education students at the AOU Jordan Branch. On one hand, the results showed that the objectives of the courses were very clear to students, online materials on the learning management system were interesting and supported to classroom learning, students preferred online quizzes, the online materials supported key assessment tasks and tutors provided continuous access to relevant information about assessment. On the other hand, the findings revealed that the online materials and e-activities were too loaded for the students to understand thoroughly, and much of the feedback they received from the tutor was not helpful. The results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences among students’ views of BL or their overall satisfaction of the online experience that could be attributed to gender or academic achievement level. Results suggest some pedagogical implications for tutors and programmer coordinators.

This project examines the effectiveness of applying machine learning techniques to the realm of college student success, specifically with the intent of discovering and identifying those student characteristics and factors that show the strongest predictive capability with regards to successful graduation. The student data examined consists of first time freshmen and transfer students who matriculated at California State University San Marcos in the period of Fall 2000 through Fall 2010 and who either graduated successfully or discontinued their education. Operating on over 30,000 student observations, random forests are used to determine the relative importance of the student characteristics with genetic algorithms to perform feature selection and pruning. To improve the machine learning algorithm cross validated hyperparameter tuning was also implemented. Overall predictive strength is relatively high as measured by the Matthews Correlation Coefficient, and both intuitive and novel features which provide support for the learning model are explored.

Sales margin plays a crucial role in the corporate world as a compass that directs enterprises towards profitability. It is the discrepancy between a good or service's selling price and its production or acquisition costs. This margin shows a company's capacity to produce income in addition to how well it manages expenses.

Size separation, or sieving, is a technique to segregate particles by size, vital in pharmaceuticals, food processing, and mining. Methods include sieving (particles pass through mesh sieves), sedimentation (based on settling velocities in fluid), cyclone separation (using centrifugal forces), and filtration (using barriers with specific pore sizes). Applications range from ensuring uniform drug formulations to grading grains and extracting minerals. Size separation offers efficiency, precision, and versatility, making it essential for quality control and consistency across various industries.

In an age where generative AI is becoming increasingly sophisticated, the potential for fraud and misinformation has reached unprecedented levels. This keynote will begin with a personal case study exploring how the speaker became the target of a generative AI scam, highlighting the convincing nature of these deceptions. Building upon this experience, the talk will delve into the broader implications of generative AI for the spread of misinformation and the erosion of trust in online spaces. As the line between truth and falsehood becomes increasingly blurred, the role of education in equipping individuals with the critical thinking skills needed to navigate this complex landscape becomes paramount. The keynote will argue that empowering postgraduate social science researchers with the tools to critically engage with generative AI is not only essential for their own work but also for the wider fight against misinformation.
