4. Career Advice – UNIS Complete your UNIS career on a high note…just because you’ve been accepted into a university, doesn’t mean you stop studying at UNIS Don’t try to apply to every school…just like in marketing…you have to focus on a few targets and work to convince them that you’re the best Be careful about what you post online -- Facebook is not as private as you think and everything on the Internet is (for the most part) permanent Seek out a UNIS alum as a mentor…we’ve been in your shoes before and can help you get through this period
5. Career Advice – Undergraduate Experience Make the most of the Undergraduate Experience: Although it’s important to figure out your major by your second year…don’t forget to take as many classes outside of your chosen field to round out your education Take the time to meet and get to know a variety of people…you’ll need them in the future Make the most of your vacations by either traveling, volunteering your time and/or interning Try to make yourself memorable…don’t just blend in with the furniture College life is not only about studying all the time…have lots of fun!
6. Career Advice – Your First Professional Job If you’re not certain about what you want to do with your career…find a job that will expose you to many different areas (e.g., management consulting, rotational job, temping) Always remain memorable -- go above and beyond the job description and make yourself indispensable Make certain to make time for networking and establish new or maintain existing relationships
7. Career Advice – General Always remember that you shouldn’t always be focused on what others can do for you…sometimes it’s more important to figure out how you can be of value to them first. Your reputation is everything (including your brand)…protect it very carefully and be selective about those you allow to associate with you This is your life…make the best of it and always remember to “keep the end in mind” in all that you do!
