3. • Abd-al-Muttalib passed away when the Prophet
was 8 years old
• Why did Allah(swt) will the three orphanings of
the Prophet?
– Allah took care of the Prophet(sws) so that he was
raised under His care
– It is traumatic to be an orphan but it gives you many
qualities that he needed later on. Being pampered
would not allow those qualities to grow. It makes the
child more independent, more mature.
– Orphan children are more mature than peers

– Poor are more giving, less stingy than the rich

7. • Story that Abu Talib along w/ some others took the
Prophet to Syria when he was like 10 or 11 years
old
• There was a monk called Buhaira who greeted the
travelers because of the Prophet (sws)
• Buhaira would never pay anyone attention prior
• There were some soldiers that came and supposedly
wanted to kill the Prophet
• Buhaira saved them and they went back to Makkah
• Some scholars dispute this^^^. It does not
make sense. Conclusion: We can’t take stories
at face value!!!! This story is not authentic!!!

8. • The Quraish had nothing to do with the Bani
Israel
• The Prophet came out of nowhere and started
citing the histories of people who are not their
own

1. What can we conclude about the story of
Buhaira?
2. What was surprising about the Prophet’s
knowledge of Musa(a) and the Bani Israel?
