TOPIC ‘ MOTOR QUALITIES’

  1. INTRODUCTION.

They are essential for a sportsman to carry out sport activities in an
  appropriate way.

  2. THE COORDINATION

Ability to develop ordered actions under brain action.

  2.1. TYPES OF COORDINATION

There are two types of coordination:

            DYNAMIC GENERAL COORDINATION

Movements that require the fitting of all the parts of the
body and in most cases, they imply locomotion.

            VISOMOTOR COORDINATION

Activities which establish a relationship between the objective
and one part of the body. For example, score a goal, a basket,
           play the piano…
This type of coordination is the specific characteristic in the
           learning of skill exercises.
           It could be classified into:

EYE-HAND, actions where we have to observe the
mobile and hit it with the hand. Example: tennis,
                     handball, basket, hockey…
EYE-FOOT, actions where we have to observe the
mobile and hit it with the foot. Example: football.

2.2. FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE COORDINATION

Coordination is caused by how the nervous and the locomotor systems
  work. The factors are:
THE TIREDNESS.
           THE NERVOUS TENSION
           THE AGE
           THE LEARNING LEVEL
           THE PHYSICAL CONDITION
THE NUMBER OF MUSCLE GROUPS INCLUDED IN THE
           MOVEMENT
           THE PART OF THE BODY
           THE SKILL
           THE DIRECTION OF THE MOVEMENT

3. THE BALANCE

Ability of the body to keep a position contrary to gravitational force.

3.1. TYPES OF BALANCE

There are 2 types of balance when talking about human beings.

STATIC BALANCE. Ability to keep a position on a stable base
        without movement of the body.
DYNAMIC BALANCE. It allows us to keep the desired position in
spite of the changes of position of any movement.

3.2. FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE THE BALANCE

     The most important are:

A. THE HEIGHT OF THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY.
B. THE WIDTH OF THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY
C. THE BODY WEIGHT
D. THE STRENGTH
E. THE COORDINATION
F. THE HEIGHT OF THE SUPPORT
4. THE AGILITY

Quality which is the union of the speed, the strength, the flexibility,
the coordination and the balance.
It’s the muscle and joint ease to make any movement. It’s essential in
the physical condition. It applies to human movements in which the body
turns, bends, jumps, rolls…
