June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
2. * SUNDAY
* 16.10.2016
* It was our first Day. We had a meeting
at 9.30 o’clock and then we got on the
bus and started our extraordinary
expedition. After 4 hours of travelling
we came to the airport Chopin in
Warsaw, where some of us held their
first great journey in the aircraft. On
the plane we spent 3,5 hours with
little turbulence, but without bigger
troubles. After landing in Portugal we
went as soon as possible to our
destination - a beautiful Guimaraes.
After checking into the hotel we went
to dinner in the cozy restaurant, which
had a very warm family atmosphere and
where we ate dinner at most of our
stay.
*
3. * MONDAY
* 17.10.2016
* When we woke up after a long travel, we
ate breakfast. At 9.00 o’clock we met all
in front of the hotel and went to see all
city. We had reception at the City Hall of
Guimaraes where we were warmly
welcomed and given amazing souvenirs.
After that we went to the caste of
Guimaraes- a Historical Centre of this
city and to the Palace of the Dukes of
Braganza. The tour was guided in English
language. Both places were beautiful and
looked as if time stopped there and there
was still the Middle Ages. After that
“travel in time” we went to have the
lunch in Casa Piedade. After lunch the
cable car took us to the mountain Penha,
where the views were breathtaking ...
Wonderful nature emphasized the
picturesque landscape. After a charming
walk among mountains we returned to
the hotel. After a day full of emotions we
went to sleep.
*
4. * TUESDAY
Today we visited school in Guimaraes, we went
to a scholl gym where we saw, school
orchiestry, dance and sing of the student. After
that we ate a little snacks, and went to visit a
"Agriculture Museum Fermentoes", what was
very close to the school.
When we came back to school we were
watching a film, made by Portugal students,
after film Slowenia made a presentation, and
we had a quiz, about what did they say.
After quiz we were watching a photos made in
different countries and then we went to eat in
the school.
When we get out from canteen we had a free
time. We used it to explore a school.
We played with them in football, match was
very drawn and fair play. When we came back
to hotel we were very tired, but still we had to
eat dinner.
We went to "Loureiro Velho Restaurant", before
we went to saw horses. When we already take
a seat, the waitres started to serve a meal, but
nothing was as good as dessert, chocolate cake
was delicious. After we went back to hotel, we
was so tired that we fell on ours bed and
instantly fall asleep.
*
5. * TUESDAY
* 18.10.2016
* That day we had a day at school, so at 9:00
we boarded the bus and at 9.30 we were on
the place. All the students were prepared for
our arrival, we had a ceremonial welcoming
at the gym. The head teacher made a
speech, the school students showed us their
talent- - A musical group praised their
acoustic abilities and the dance group - a
great sense of rhythm. After the ceremony
we met a lot of amazing and very kind,
polite people from school, everyone wanted
to have selfie with us. Together with some
school students we went to the regional
museum, where we could see how flax were
made and what things were found by
archaeologists in these areas. Then we came
back to school and we ate lunch with school
students. We saw how Portuguese lessons
look, in my opinion they are much more
interesting than ours. Students have classes
such as "cooking", may enter a special room
prepared for that, and have many other
interesting activities. After that we
participated in especially arranged gym
games.

6. * Wendnesday
We woke up like always, after breakfast
we prepered to go and next went by bus
to Citania of Briteiros Museum,
archaeologist house and composer.
Then we was sightseeing Sameiro and
Bom Jesus, two churches located on top
of the mountain where the views was
beautiful.
After sightseeing we ate a lunch in O
Lago restaurant, there was buffet for
main dishes and also tasty desserts.
After eating we went in the heart of
Braga, on the marketplace. We had there
free time to walk, buy some souvenirs
and if someone was still hungry, eat
something.
When the free time ended, we came
back to hotel in Guimaraes by bus and
ate in the Piedade restaurant. when we
finished the day has ended.
*
7. * WEDNESDAY
* 19.10.2016
* Like always, the day started with breakfast, we
boarded the bus and began our next adventure.
This time we went a little further- to Citania de
Briteiros, with a guide. The place was so
beautiful that it's hard to describe it in words.
At a walk in the mountain climate, we went to
religious places - Sameiro and Bom Jesus,
where we had time to explore everything. After
a few hours of sightseeing in the open air-
hungry we went to a fancy restaurant O Lago,
where the food was just delicious. Next we set
off to explore Braga, where in every corner
hides a surprise or the mystery, in the form of
amazing buildings, charming streets and some
wonderfully magic places, so that I will always
remember this place ...
*
8. * THURSDAY
* 20.10.2016
* On that day we got up very early at
4.30, and at 5.30 we went to the
station and then got on the train. With
one change we came the town of
Regua. The trains were very
comfortable and perfect for sleeping:
P. We visited the museum and that was
very interesting. Then quickly we went
to the meeting place and everyone got
into the boat, in which we spent the
afternoon, ate lunch , admired
Portugal airlock and sailed by the dam.
There aroused in us a lot of
excitement, because crossing the dam
all the water mounted on the door
locks, flowed upon us and we were
wet. After a long voyage we came to
Porto and returned by train to our
Guimaraes.
*
9. * FRIDAY
* 21.10.2016 On that day we came to
Porto. At first, we went to the World of
Discoveries Museum that really stood
out to other museums, it wasn’t
boring, guided by a "pirate" who talked
about the expeditions of the
conquistadors around the world. At the
end we had a boat trip around the
world. Later, we had lunch in the MC
and went to the museum of wine. Some
wines cost more than houses. Day in
Porto passed so quickly, that we
suddenly had to come back. Next we
had dinner, which was waiting for us
with a surprise. It was a farewell
dinner in a lovely restaurant, all the
countries were giving gifts to
eachother, we ate a delicious cake and
watched great performances and
unfortunately, we said goodbye to our
friends from Portugal, whom likely we
will never see again:C So it was a
beautiful but sad evening , because
farewells are always painful.
*
10. * FRIDAY
* On friday everybody woke up at 7 o'clock.
This day started from breakfast at 8
o'clock. Everybody ate what he liked the
best. For me the best for breakfast was
chocolate cereals with milk. We had a
plan. We wanted to visit a Porto. We
went to Porto by bus. In Porto first we
went to the Word of Discoveries Museum.
We watched there models of boat and
caravels. We watched navigation
instruments, compasses, we saw weapon
and armor. Later we swam in boats and
watched an exposition of different places
in world. We learned a lot about history
of Portugal. After museum we had a lunch
and we went for a walk around the city. It
was very nice weather, we had a lot of
sun. In the afternoon we visited the
Offley Cellars. That place look like a
cave. There was even a bat! There was a
lot of barrels of wine. After tour we came
back to hotel. We had some free time. In
the evening everybody went to the
official dinner at the restaurant. There
we tasted seafood, and we met ouf
friends from other countries. We came
back to hotel very late. We were tired
but very happy. We took lots of photos!
*
11. * SATURDAY
* 22.10.2016
* On that day we had more time, we ate
breakfast at 8.30 and went shopping at the
mall, we bought souvenirs for family,
friends and ourselves. There were a lot of
stores, which we don’t have in Poland.
After losing the rest of the money and the
end of the shopping, we went to Vila do
Conde-Povoa de Varzim - a beach. I was
gorgeous and clear, the ocean was clean
and amazing. After taking a final photo
shoot in Portugal we returned to the hotel.
Again, there was quite a sad atmosphere
because everyone said goodbye,
exchanged contacts, had together the last
photo…
*
12. * SUNDAY
* 23.10.2016
* On that day came the end of our
wonderful adventure, which I will
always remember with a sincere
smile. From now on Portugal will
never more be strange to me ... and
I will go back there for sure, because
it is one of the most beautiful places
on the Earth…
