1. Unit 13 – Planning and Pitching a Print based Media Product – Photo-shoot Plan
Project title:
Project:
Project Description:
Planning and pitching a print based media product for two magazine genres. I
will create a front cover and a DPS for two magazines and then I will present this
to a client.
Photographer:
I am going to be the photographer, as this will allow me to position the
model into the desired pose.
There will be a mixture of close up, long shot and also medium shots. I
will use the medium shot or the close up on the front cover and the long
shot and other close ups on the DPS. My shot types will also be taken at
eye level.
There lighting will mainly be high key however I will try a few of the
images low key to see the difference it makes in how the image looks.
Post Production – I do not intend to apply any effects as such to the
images as I do not want the magazine covers to look cheap and tacky. The
only type of effects I will be putting on my images would be to enhance
them. I would do this upping or dimming the exposure; enhance colours
and other little simple edits. I will also use the quick selection or magic
wand tool to take out the background of my images.
The masthead ‘Lyrical’ connotes something is full of emotion. A name like this
would make the audience want to read to magazine as they would want to relate
to the emotion. The font also connotes quite a relaxed feeling which will let the
reader feel like they can just be themselves.

Reference images and ideas:
These images
would be my
inspiration, as I
like the shot
types and the
positioning that
the celebrities
have been put in.
I also like the
lighting used.
Casting
Graham is suitable to be featured for my magazine front cover and DPS as he
looks like a typical young singer. This is mainly because of his ethnicity and the
way he dresses. Popular men celebrities also tend to have quite trendy haircuts,
and keep up with the latest fashion such as graham does.

Model requirements:
The model should be of a height ranging from 5’8ft to 6’2ft, as this is a typical
height of most male celebrities. They will also need to be dressed fairly casually
as within the pop-rock genre, there isn’t any specific ‘look’ as such. They also
shouldn’t look angry, as that is not the look of my magazine.
Wardrobe and Look:
I’ve chosen to have a guitar, as it will enable the front cover to look more
interesting and appealing to more audience members. In my opinion, being able
to play the guitar and sing connotes great skill and rounds off the typical idea of a
music artist. The clothing I chose for Graham to wear connotes a laid back and
chilled vibe, as it is a little bit baggy, casual and plain coloured. The readers will
be able to relate to Graham as unless you are going out somewhere nice or you
work at a high end job, everyone’s day to day or weekend clothes tend to be
casual.

Hair and Make up:
There is no necessary make up needed, if I do find any imperfections these can
be easily corrected on Photoshop later on. Grahams hair will be styled in two
different ways. The first style is a casual, down, messy look. This would connote
to the readers a relaxed vibe where they can feel comfortable. The other
hairstyle will involve putting some gel and scraping it up to the side. This is a
slightly smarter look while still remaining casual.
Where:
The photo-shoot will take place within my house against a plain white wall, as
this will make editing easier and less complicated.
When:
The photo-shoot will take place on Friday the 26th of January 2017 at
approximately 3:30pm - 4:00pm
