Science 7 - LAND and SEA BREEZE and its Characteristics
2013 permission to publish edit copy
1. Dear Parent/Guardian
The Department of Education’s Information Privacy and Security Policy requires schools to
obtain parental/guardian permission before using visual images of students such as
photographs and craftworks of students outside the school environment.
Rossmoyne Senior High School regularly uses images of students in a variety of ways to
recognise excellent achievement, inform parents and the local community of school matters,
publicise events and to promote the school. Our publications include the School Website and
Newsletters. From time to time we may also be asked to contribute to Department of
Education materials such as educational videos and the “School Matters” newspaper.
In particular, a pre-service teacher, Yuxuan Liu, in her final year of her M. Teach program in
the Graduate School of Education at The University of Western Australia has requested
permission to place anonymised photos of the students, photographs of your child’s
classroom, including anonymised samples of student work, in a pre-service teacher e-portfolio.
She is currently taking the unit EDUC 5618; “Teaching and Learning with Information and
Communication Technologies”. During this unit, she is required to put together an e-portfolio
demonstrating that she has reached the required Graduate Level of the Australian
Professional Standards for Teachers. This requires her to include evidence of, and artefacts
from, her teaching experience in schools.
All photos will be anonymised, with faces and any other identifying details (such as names on
books or school logos) blurred out. At no time will any child or school be identifiable in these
materials. They will be uploaded into a password-protected e-portfolio space, which will only
be accessed by UWA staff, her fellow pre-service teachers, and principals or deputies at
schools where she may apply for employment.
She would appreciate you granting permission for her to use these photos, which will support
her pre-service teacher training and help she become a fully qualified teacher in West
Australian schools.
If you give your permission, would you please complete the permission slip below and return
to Yuxuan Liu by 28, August, 2014.
Thank you
Associated Principal
Mrs Pat Young

children’s work. All photos will be anonymised, with faces and any other identifying
details (such as names on books or school logos) blurred out. At no time will any child or
school be identifiable in these materials. They will be uploaded into a password-protected
e-portfolio space, which will only be accessed by UWA staff, my fellow pre-service
teachers, and principals or deputies at schools where I may apply for employment.
I would appreciate you granting permission for me to use these photos, which will
support my pre-service teacher training and help me become a fully qualified teacher in
West Australian schools.
If you agree to permit to use the images of your child, or samples of your child’s work, in
the manner detailed above, please complete the consent form below and return it to the
Lote department of the school by 28, August 2014. This consent, if signed, will remain
effective until such time as you advise the school otherwise.
Yours sincerely
