3. Alvin Ong is the Division U Governor and an avid toastmaster.
In 2003, he co-founded the Information Technology
Management Association (ITMA) toastmasters club to
provide a platform for professionals working in the
Information Technology industry to improve their leadership
and communication skills. The ITMA club has grown in
stature since its formative years and achieved the President’s
Distinguished Club status six times since 2006. He had also
served as Area U2 Governor, Assistant Division Governor
(Marketing) and sponsored several new toastmasters clubs
before taking on the role as Division U Governor in July 2014.
In 2012, he was recognized as “Toastmaster of the Year" by
Division U.
He works as Chief Information Officer of a public healthcare
cluster, is an Adjunct Faculty at SMU and was featured in the
2013 edition of “Who’s Who in Engineering Singapore” by
The Institution of Engineers Singapore. Besides toastmasters,
his hobbies include reading and chess.
4. Glenn is a corporate consultant specialising in strategic
leadership and organisational development. He holds a
Master of Social Science (Psychology), Masters of Education
(Training Development), and Professional Diploma in
Educational Psychology.
Glenn is a keynote speaker, corporate trainer and curriculum
developer. He speaks and trains regularly in the ASEAN
region, with subject matters ranging from sales and service
excellence, team dynamics and performance, to corporate
social responsibility. Glenn is also a principal consultant and
trainer in the social services and youth sector in Singapore
and SE Asia, helping in competency-building efforts of non-
government agencies and non-profit organisations. He also
runs a few businesses and social enterprises that help
disadvantaged people and youths-at-risks. Glenn's personal
interest is in human potential, and his mission is to help
people fulfil their fullest potential and calling.
5. Todd was the President of Toastmasters Club of Singapore
achieving 10 out of 10 DCP points in the term 2013/14. Since
his graduation from Hong Kong University of Science and
Technology, he started working in Singapore as a Software
Engineer in Continental Automotive. He is also an enthusiast
of photography and graphic design.
He likes to take on challenges in life to overcome his fear and
to walk out from his comfort zone continuously. "Don't do, or
do the best at all time" is his favourite motto reminding
himself to learn hungrily and do perfectly.
Todd is now the Area U2 Governor 2014/15. He is eager to
befriend the clubs' leaders and members, as well as to learn
from them and to discuss with them the learning points in
Toastmasters and in life.
6. Prakash is a young professional in the IT consulting industry.
He is a recent graduate of Nanyang Technological University
with a double degree in Business and Computer Science.
While in university, he was an active member of the
university toastmasters club for 3 years, holding posts such as
publicity officer and Vice president (Education). Having
suffered from ASF (Acute Stage Fright) in the past, he has
improved much after being a member of Toastmasters
international. He has reached the level of Competent
Communicator and was recently first runner-up in the Area
A4 International Speech Contest.
In his free time, Prakash enjoys volunteering at his
community center as part of the Youth Executive Committee.
He also actively travels and goes on hiking trips. Recently, he
backpacked across India and did a 4-day hike at the Stok
Mountains
7. Gerald Yong is a Chartered Accountant and Financial
Practitioner.
His philosophy in life is summed up as follows:
"Knowledge is of no use,
if you keep it within you.
If you share it with others
You will learn even more.
You just have to give to receive."
Gerald is an active toastmaster and had served as the
president of AIA Toastmasters Club in the term 2012/2013.
He strongly believes that the Toastmasters provide the Best
Platform for meeting people and personal development.
Apart from Toastmasters, he enjoy walking, trekking, outdoor
activities and loves to meet people.
8. Hor Mei Siew is a State Registered nurse for 40 years. She is
a certified International Board Lactation Consultant.
She joined Toastmasters in 2006, and ever since she is
passionate about learning and enjoying meeting people
through various toastmasters’ and networking events.
She has served her home club, Toa Payoh Central Advanced
Toastmaster Club, in several executive positions over the
years, and was the President for the term 2013/2014.
Apart from clubs visiting among the Toastmasters circle, her
other interests also includes enjoying taking nature walks in
leisure time.

9. Neil subscribes to the values of integrity and team work.
With a decade of experience in the corporate industry and
having held several regional leadership positions, Neil is
todate, a trainer and lecturer for the last 6 years. He
presently lectures with Singapore Accounting Academy, a
training arm of the Institute of Singapore Chartered
Accountants (ISCA).
His credentials in Toastmasters include helping clubs achieve
President’s Distinguished Status in addition to being a
Successful Club Coach each year. A former Club President,
Treasurer, SAA, Area Governor, Assistant Div Governor
(Marketing), Asst Div Governor (Public Relations), Neil’s
experiences span across active service in Divisions D, B and S.
Besides being a passionate Toastmaster, in his personal life,
Neil is an avid martial artist, folk guitarist, and story teller.
He believes in beginning with an end in mind and doing each
task to the best of our ability in the present moment.
10. Abigail is the President of ITMA Toastmasters Club
2014/2015. Prior that she was the Vice President Public
Relations in term 2013/2014. She joined toastmaster in
2011. To Abigail, each and every project never ceases to give
her maiden's experience, maiden's learning and maiden's
after thought. Toastmaster is as such... every chapter in the
journey is a brand new experience that encapsulate one
with many takeaways if one is open to embrace.
Currently the IT Director of Watsons Personal Care Stores,
Asia's Largest health and beauty chain stores, Abigail
oversees the IT strategic planning, IT applications and
infrastructure departments, service delivery and operations
management across over 100 storefront island wide. She is a
founding member and fellow of IDeation Edge Asia (IDEA),
served as an executive council member in IT Management
Association (ITMA) of Singapore, chairman of Ladies Interest
Group for CIOs (2012-2013, 2013-2014) and a planning
committee member for ITMA CIO Executive program 2012
and 2013.
11. Dear Toastmasters! I am Raymond Lim and I am your Division
Public Relations Officer. I have only been a Toastmaster for
the past 3 years. I am also a member and Treasurer of the
Leng Kee Advanced Toastmaster Club. I am currently a
programme manager with an Australian University. I have
more than 10 years of corporate experience in both public
and private organizations.
In my Toastmasters journey, I always believe we are all
endowed with talents within ourselves and we each bring a
special blend of strengths and skills to our clubs and the
divisions that we served. These platforms serve as a
conducive and safe environment for us to hone our public
speaking and leadership skills. The impact on ourselves as an
individual and a group can be life-transforming and long-
lasting.
It is with this belief that I serve the Division U in Singapore
and I hope that we can all achieve our goals together! After
all, it is when you serve, lead and mentor others that you
extend your learning, and others, in the Toastmasters
journey.
12. As a human resources professional, Catherine has always
viewed that effective communication is an essential
component to her key stakeholders; the Management team
and the Employees.
In 2010, she joined Toastmasters to improve her presentation
skills, and further developed her leadership skills by serving
in various positions such as President, VP(Education),
VP(Membership) and Secretary roles in two clubs. For this
term (2013/2014), she was awarded the ‘Most Dedicated
Vice-President, Membership’ by Division B.
Moving forward, she hopes to broaden her network in the
Toastmasters community and contribute her services. In her
leisure time, she enjoys travelling around the world, with just
her backpack and camera. Her pictures were featured in the
Young NTUC 20.20 photography exhibition in 2010/2011 and
at the Youth Olympics in Singapore.
13. With more than 25 years’ of working experience in the
information technology industry, I am currently a Senior
Manager with Integrated Health Information Systems (IHiS).
One of my key roles is to develop Healthcare IT innovations
by collaborating with industry experts, start-ups and
government agencies and to bring about improved patient
care, patient safety and operational efficiency for the
healthcare providers.
I joined the Toastmasters programme in 2006 and served as a
club officer in the ITMA Toastmasters Club. The toastmasters
platform has helped me improve my communication and
leadership skills. It has also given me the confidence to
accept change as a positive opportunity to learn and grow.
14. Yetti Chiu is an accountant by training and has a MBA degree.
She is a fellow member of ACCA (the Association of
Chartered Certified Accountants).
Yetti was a District 80 Treasurer and a Division U Treasurer.
She had served her home club, Kampong Ubi Toastmasters
Club (formerly known as Kowloon-Singapore Toastmasters
Club), in various executive positions and was the President
for the term 2007/2008. In 2007, she created the website
and the blog for the club. The website helped the club to
increase its membership from 22 to 37 in just one year. The
club achieved President’s Distinguished Club status for the
term 2007/2008. She is still the webmaster of her home club.
Yetti has been the Webmaster of Division U since the birth of
the division in 2004. She has been a long-time toastmaster as
she likes public speaking. Now, she is living outside Singapore
with her husband.
15. Rebecca Tan, ACB, CL
Who am I? By day I am a teacher but by night I become a
visiting toastmaster .
Without visiting the clubs, how would I know so many
toastmasters or how would I practice my speaking skills.
Lessons I have learnt in life- if you want to be good in a skill,
example cooking, speaking, accounting, practice it often.
Find opportunities to be close to that skill and volunteer
yourselves often
16. DAISY YEO joined the toastmasters movement in November
2010. She had been an active member of two clubs currently
i.e. Clementi CC TMC and West Coast TMC.
She is currently President of Clementi CC TMC and VPE of
West Coast TMC. She is the winner of the Toastmaster of the
Year 2013-14. Clementi CC TMC had been given the award of
the Club with the highest membership net growth for 2013-
2014.
She is passionate about toastmasters and delights in
motivating members to succeed in their toastmasters
journey. Her goal is to bring her Club to greater heights and
success in 2014-2015. She believes in a holistic educational
development for all members apart from public speaking and
leadership skills. She hopes to learn from other experienced
and passionate toastmasters members from Division U. She is
a TESOL teacher and trainer.
