2. ENTRY 1
Topic 1 SocialPsychology │SocialFacilitation
In Semester2, I had learned Social Psychology. In the first lesson,I
learned Social Facilitation. Social Facilitation can be defined as ‘an
improvementin performance produced by the mere presence of others’.
There are 2 types of Social Facilitation. They are co-action effects and
audience effects. In 1898,Norman Triplett has done his research on the
speed records ofcyclist. He noticed that racing against each other rather
than against the clock alone increased the cyclists’ speeds.
This theory oftenhappened in our life. I got the same theory in my life. I
play badminton with friends just like normal, playing with kidding, playing
with lots of fun. When I face the competition,I will put much effortin it to
performance the best because of the surrounding effectand audience
effect, the surrounding make me feelstress and mind set have to
performance better.

Topic 2 SocialPsychology │ Abraham MaslowHierarchy of Needs
Abraham Maslow Hierarchy of Needs consists of 7 stages. The 7
motivational needs often depictedas hierarchical levels within a pyramid.
This 7 stage modelcan be divided into physiologicalneeds, safety and
security, love and belonging,self-esteem,intellectual, aesthetic and self-
actualization. Physiologicalis things necessaryto basic survival, including
food, water and rest. Safety and security is such things as finding safe
circumstances, shelter and protection. Love and Belongings include the
need of friends, affectionate relationships and children. Self-esteem
consists upper and lower level. Upper level includes self-respect,
confidence and freedom.Lower level involves the need for attention and
respectof others. Intellectual is not focusedon a deficiencybut rather a
sense of enhancing. Aesthetic is the internally desire to acquired an
appreciation for the beauty. Self-actualization is seldom reached but is the
result of the inner-directed drive to improve and use their ability to the max.
Apparently, Maslow Hierarchy is arrangement of human needs.Besides,it
is a motivation. For me, the most important for me is food, because we
can’t survive without foods,it is match with the first stage of Hierarchy –
4. Physiologicalneeds.I need a shelter to get protection from outsider. It is
important to get love and belongings to communicate and also can be
formed a family.
When I having a presentation, I need a self-confidence to present,and get
respectfrom others to pay attention for me. But I know, my presentation is
still can be improved, I will try my best to achieve and enhance my potential
to the fullest.

Topic 2 Socialpsychology │ SocialInfluences
Social Influences is how individuals thought, actions, and feelings are
influenced by Social group. It is a form of social comparison. We can see
ourselves as being “the same” or “differentfrom” social groups.Social
influences also caused by cultural influences.
As me, I did not like k-pop as well, because I couldn’t understand about
Korean language and I do not like their dressing. When I study in Taylor
University, my surrounding friends all do like K-pop and often openthe
Korean song. Now, my mind is changed, I acceptKorean song and slightly
like listen to Korean song. My opinion had changed, it is influenced by
social.

Topic 2 SocialPsychology │ Motivation
Motivation involve of intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic
motivation is when I am motivated by internal factors. It may take a certain
action and lead u to be more engaged to achieve. When we get the
achievement, it leads us to greater curiously and pleasure. For extrinsic
motivation, it refers to motivation that comes from outside an individual.
The motivating factors are external or rewards such as money and grades.
These rewards provide satisfaction and pleasure that the task itself may not
be provide.
Motivation is important to us, it can built stronger mind and strengthen
internal confidence to do better, it may be use their potential to the fullest.
My target in this semesteris getting 3.5 above in CGPA.So I do take some
action such as revision, pay attention in class during lecture or tutorial in
order to achieve the target. If I achieved, my mother will giving me a special
gift.

Topic 2 SocialPsychology │ SocialComparison
The social comparisonprocess involves people coming to know
themselves by evaluating their own attitudes, abilities, and beliefs in
comparisonwith others.
Downward comparisonis one type of social comparison,we judge
ourselves against people who are less skilled or fortunate than ourselves.
We can enhance our self-esteem by feeling that we are better than other
people.
Upward comparisonis also a type of social comparison. We judge
ourselves against people who are more skilled or fortunate than
ourselves. We can lower our self-esteem byfeeling that we are worse than
other people.
For downward comparison,I like to play basketball with friends who are
less skilled than me. When we play basketball shooting, I scored better
mark and l feel satisfactionand happy.
8. For upward comparison,I like to compare my results with class top student.
“I got 78% in Mathematics test, She got 90% in Mathematics test.” I am
doing so badly. I feelsad and dissatisfied.

Topic 4 SocialPsychology │ Dispositional Attributions
Dispositionalattribution is also known as internal attributions. It refers to
interpreting an event or behavior as being caused by factors that are
related to the individual. These factors include personality traits, individual
characteristics, emotions, and abilities. When we use internal attribution,
we assume that the individual has direct control over the behavior or event
and is therefore responsible forwhat happened.
In my experience,I failed my Accounting test and my mother is asking me.
“Why you failed your Accounting?” by mother. I used internal attributions to
answer my mother. “I didn’t pay attention during class and I didn’t revision
before test.” by me. I also explained to her, I have no interesting in
calculating, calculation is making my brain storming. I am not that sensitive
with algebra or numeric.

10. Topic 3 SocialPsychology │The Availability Heuristic
The availability heuristic is a mental shortcut that relies on immediate
examples that come to mind. When you are trying to make a decision,a
number of related events or situations might immediatelyspring to the
forefrontof your thoughts. We make a judgment based on what we can
remember, rather than complete data. In particular, we use this for
judging frequency or likelihood of events.
As I know PJS7 area is more dangerous to stay. Unfortunately, my friend
has been robbery last month, her money and phone has gone. This case
makes me feel scared and set in my mind. So I decided to move my
house in DK Senza which is more safety. It is because DK Senza has
security and has a connectionentrance straight to campus.

11. Topic 5 SocialPsychology │ ObservationalLearning
Observational Learning is watching others engage in behaviors and then
repeating those actions. It also can explain how we acquire attitudes, fears,
opinions or specific behaviors. Observational learning is sometimes also
referred to as shaping, modeling, and vicarious reinforcement. While it can
take place at any point in life, it tends to be the most commonduring
childhood as children learn from the authority figures and peers in their
lives.
As my family, we have to wait all of the family members having dinner
together. Even now I am apart from my family, I am still waiting for my
housemates for dine in together. My parents are using chopsticks when
dine in. I copytheir actions and try to learn using chopsticks.
