  3. 3. PRESCHOOL EDUCATION IN TÜRKİYE <ul><li>Preschool education is the provision of education for children before the statutory education, usually between the ages of two and five. Preschool is also known as nursery school or kindergarten . </li></ul><ul><li>The goal of preschool education is to help children develop physically, mentally and individually, and develop their ability to use language and prepare them for primary school. </li></ul>
  4. 4. PRESCHOOL EDUCATION IN TÜRKİYE <ul><li>The Early Learning Goals of preschool education cover the main areas of education without being subject driven. These areas include; </li></ul><ul><li>Personal, social and emotional development </li></ul><ul><li>Language, literacy and communication </li></ul><ul><li>Mathematical development </li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge and understanding of the world </li></ul><ul><li>Physical development </li></ul><ul><li>Creative development </li></ul><ul><li>Self-Care </li></ul>
  6. 6. PRESCHOOL EDUCATION IN TÜRKİYE <ul><li>Kindergartens are ‘schools’ that provide a structured 3-year pre-school education program for children aged 3 to 6 . Kindergartens function daily, five days a week, with schooling hours ranging from 6 hours to 8 hours each day. Most kindergartens function at least two sessions a day. Kindergartens follow the school year observed by schools in the formal education system. </li></ul>

PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION IN TÜRKİYE <ul><li>The daily program includes learning activities that develop language and literacy skills, basic number concepts, simple science concepts, social skills, creative and problem solving skills, appreciation of music and movement and outdoor play. </li></ul>

PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION IN TÜRKİYE <ul><li>In Turkey, preschool education, which is optional, includes the education of children in the 3- 4 years of age group, Preschool education is given in kindergartens, preparatory classrooms, application classrooms, nursery schools and day-care homes by various ministries and institutions, and by the Ministry of National Education most of all. </li></ul>
  9. 12. PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION IN TÜRKİYE <ul><li>The children can benefit from these institutions for a full day or a half day. Turkey is set to expand preschool education under a program to make it compulsory nationwide by 2013 . T he number of pilot cities with compulsory preschool education in Turkey increased from 32 to 57, a 28-point increase nationwide from 11 percent in 2002 to 39 percent in 2010. </li></ul>

PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION IN TÜRKİYE <ul><li>Efforts are underway for spreading preschool education, for informing public opinion and for the development and standardization of educational materials and equipment. In this direction, in an amendment made to the Regulations for Private Educational Institutions connected to the Ministry of National Education, it has been made compulsory for primary schools to open at least one preparatory classroom. </li></ul>
  11. 15. PRE-SCHOOL EDUCATION IN ELAZIĞ <ul><li>There are 28 Kindergartens in Elazığ which are run by either the private sector or National Education Directorate . The rate of preschool education is % 69 in 20 10. </li></ul>
  12. 16. ELAZIĞ NURSERY SCHOOL <ul><li>Elazığ Nursery School has a wide experience of providing preschool education. It was founded in 2006 and , with its capacity of 220 children, prepares children between the ages of 3 and 6 for primary education by teaching them to think, understand, communicate, share, cooperate and be creative. There are 9 classrooms, each with a capacity of 20 - 25 students, a n ICT classroom, a chess room, play room and a kitchen. </li></ul>

ELAZIĞ NURSERY SCHOOL Apart from pre-school curriculum we try to develop our students basic skills with folk dances, basic computer usage, chess, foreign languages, creativity and innovation. Our aim is to raise intercultural competence of our teachers and pupils. We also would like our teachers and pupils to become more interested in other countries and cultures; to show more tolerance towards other cultures and people from other countries.

ELAZIĞ NURSERY SCHOOL <ul><li>Elazığ Pre-School works in a structured and well-organised open plan environment where learning areas are properly supported and well-informed staff with differing strengths share and rejoice in children's achievements. Children are offered rich and varied learning opportunities, which provide a sound basis for confident and autonomous life long learners. </li></ul>
  15. 22. ELAZIĞ NURSERY SCHOOL We endeavour to provide education and safe environment in partnership with parents and families. We support the emotional, social, physical, and intellectual education of children through a system of integrated learning. We aim to ensure that each child achieves their own potential to become an independent, autonomous person who values and respects others.
