Print – preliminary exercise: using DTP and an
image manipulation program, produce the front page
of a new School/College magazine, featuring a
photograph of a student in medium close-up plus
some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead.
Additionally, produce a DTP mock-up of the layout
of the contents page.

19. Lily Allen is depicted as feisty,
saucy, vicious women. This is
shown as she is topless meaning
she’s sexy. Props: the two
panthers represent as
dangerous. Pose: She’s looking
over her shoulder with her hand
up to her mouth and her other
hands on her hips.
Eminem is shown here to be
ruthless, hard and thuggish as
shown through is tattoos and
his short hairstyle. He’s
wearing a black vest, the
blackness to show he’s dark and
dangerous, the vest to reveal
himself and show he isn’t
hiding anything beneath a
jumper or anything.
Representation of David Bowie
David Bowie is shown here to be
wacky and unorthodox. This is
because he is wearing unusual
coloured clothing you wouldn’t
normally wear in everyday life
and is surrounded by a wacky
bright background, representing
his uniqueness and shows he's
different to the world around
him.
22. Contents Page: Conventions

Detail. It also references
the page number of the

Images can vary from
close-ups to long shots,
depending on what or
who the image is of.
In this case, the image
shows a close-up of a
singer, suggesting he is
the main topic of
an article.
Page number tells
reader what page
article is on.

As well as the regulars,
the magazine also feature
s other headings to tell
readers what else there
