Mexico: "The" Place To Retire Although the stunning beaches and vibrant culture in Mexico are intriguing, the Central American country of Mexico
boasts numerous aspects that would attract me to call it home in my elderly years. Next Avenue released an article saying:
Mexico knocked off last year's No. 1 Panama because you can live well there for under $1200 per month, it's close to the United States, the locals are
friendly, English is widely spoken in popular retiree spots, the expat community is large (more than one million Americans live there), health care is
affordable and high quality, and the culture and lifestyle are fantastic.

I believe, there is nothing wrong with a modest life. Cross also talks about how the people in his small town of Ajijic were friendly beyond compare
from the very beginning. This resonated to me because I value meaningful and warm relationships.
With all the places on Earth to live, Mexico attracts tourists and retirees from around the world. Although other countries appeal to these groups of
people, Mexico remains the number one destination. Having never been out of the U.S. before, Mexico sounds appealing to me. "Based on its cost,
climate and culture, and other important considerations like access to amenities and healthcare, Mexico comes out consistently on top" (How to retire
to Mexico: A complete guide). Mexico may not have been an obvious selection for American retirees and other global retirees, but it certainly caught
my attention as I've researched possible destinations to retire.
Upon researching various retirement destinations, Mexico is the place I would choose to call home in my later years. Along with the aforementioned
benefits to a Mexico retirement, many Mexican businesses have bilingual employees and print literature in English. Mexico's natural beauty and
welcoming culture, along with its strong family values, seems to fit my hopes for life beyond my

Example Of Annexation
1. Annexation– legally adding land area to a city in the United States.
Example: During the nineteenth century, the city of Chicago grew at an expedite rate due to the annexation of peripheral land. In 1837, for example,
Chicago grew from a mere 10 square miles to 190 square miles in 1900. As time continued, specifically during the twentieth century, little land was
annexed; the major annexation was on the northwest side for O'Hare Airport. In today's day, cities are less prone to annex peripheral land. This is due
to the fact that residents prefer to organize their own services rather than pay city taxes to them. In the past, some of the peripheral jurisdictions were
small, isolated towns. The towns have a traditions of independent local governed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first ring is the CBD, which is where nonresidential activities are concentrated. The second ring is the zone of transition, where various industries
and poorer quality housing is located. The third ring is a zone of independent workers' homes, where modest older homes occupied by the
working–class families are clustered. The fourth ring is the zone of better residences, where newer and larger houses for the middle–class families. The
firth ring is the commuter's zone, which is located beyond the continuous built–up area of the city.
7. Core based statistical area (CBSA)– in the United States, the combination of all metropolitan statistical areas and micropolitan statistical areas.
Example: Throughout the United States there are hundreds of CBSAs. All of the cities which are MSAs or ВµSAs a makeup CBSAs. BSAs have a
population of over 10,000, which is why there are so plentiful in the United States. Most large cities are considered core based statistical areas. New
York–Newark, Jersey City, NY–NJ–PA metropolitan statistical area is an example of a CBSAs/ It has a very high population of about twenty million
people. It is considered a CBSA because it includes metropolitans and micropolitans.

Dim Wolf Research Paper
Three little pigs move around singing "Who's apprehensive about the enormous, awful wolf?" Little Red Riding Hood scarcely gets away from the
guile advances of the avaricious wolf camouflaged as her grandma. Such myths and legends have depicted the wolf as a danger to human presence.
Dreaded as inhumane executioners, they were abhorred and oppressed. Wolves were not only shot and murdered; they were tormented too. Persuaded
that they were an issue to be explained, U.S. subjects bit by bit annihilated dim wolves from the lower 48 states over a time of 25 years.
Today, numerous individuals are persuaded that the end of the dark wolf was a blunder, as well as a drawback to the personal e satisfaction in this
nation. There has been an open objection ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most importantly is the trepidation of farmers with respect to the conceivable loss of domesticated animals. Wolves have been missing from
Yellowstone for a long time. Albeit a few measurements assert that "less than 1% of the sheep and dairy cattle living in wolf range in Canada are
executed by wolves every year," others recount an alternate story. As per the approach chief of the National Wildlife Institute, "In Canada, 41 percent of
animals discovered dead have been murdered by wolves". The distinction in these measurements is disturbing. Clearly, insights can be communicated in
an assortment of routes relying upon what guide one is attempting toward demonstrate. On the other hand, the actuality remains that wolves do, in any
event incidentally, go after domesticated animals. (Albeit)Notwithstanding their sympathy toward domesticated animals, farmers fear the likelihood
that, to guarantee the wolf's survival, untamed life directors will fence off a huge number of sections of land now utilized for touching. This could
prompt the shutdown of farms, bringing about the loss of several occupations.
At long last, farmers realize that they have almost no plan of action if the wolves prey on their domesticated animals. They are permitted to shoot a
wolf got in the demonstration of executing a sheep or bovine if the creature has a place with them. Be that as it may, it is exceptionally hard to be in

Water withdrawal is the amount of water taken from the ground or surface water source and water use is defined as the water which is withdrawn for
specific purposes, such as domestic, irrigation, industrial etc. With increasing population and climate change effects, the demands for water resources
are increased; as a result, ground water and surface water withdrawals become very important. Water resources are essential for public use, power
generation, agricultural production, recreation and so on. However, increasing effects of climate change and population growth cause sustained water
shortages in the some regions of United States. Unfortunately, in some states, water demand has exceeded the water supply. Thus, it is very important to
know past and current water withdrawal amounts to shape policy for wise–use and management of water. Therefore, visual geospatial display of water
withdrawal data with a geographical information system (GIS) is an essential tool to address the issues related to water resources. Geographical
information system (GIS) is a combination of a graphic presentation and database. It is a general–purpose technology that uses geographic data in
digital form. The abilities of GIS include processing the data into a form, which is suitable for analysis, supporting spatial analysis and modeling, and
post–processing results. Moreover, it can give spatial representation of water resources systems and bring spatial dimensions into the water resource

The Territorial Status Of Puerto Rico
While some groups tend to separate themselves, differences are what make humans inherently similar. According to Mahatma Gandhi, "Our ability to
reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization". Even though some may feel different than others, this does not mean that
everyone cannot join together with time. If people of different backgrounds and perspectives unite, they can overcome any divisive barriers constructed
by the past. Sometimes, barriers can exist in places where one would least expect them, even in seemingly united nations. One example of a hidden
divide present in the Western world is the territorial status of Puerto Rico. Despite American ownership of the island, Puerto Rican citizens are not
granted the same rights and privileges as citizens of the 50 states. Despite Puerto Rico's long American history and attempts to gain statehood status,
Puerto Ricans are still treated differently by the federal government. This ought to be changed. Puerto Rico should be granted statehood status as a
result of the fact that it would improve the territory's stability, strengthen American moral and social dynamics, and benefit the entire American
populous.
The statehood debate can be somewhat contentious, but there are some facts that both sides can agree to be true. The first is that the social and
cultural dynamics of Puerto Rico and the 50 states are somewhat different. Many fear that Puerto Rico is too culturally distinct to be

Us and Us Mountain Biking
The United States is a country located in North America bordering the vast Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean. The neighboring countries are Canada
(north) and Mexico (south). The geography of the United States is varied with mountains in the west (the Rockies), and a broad central plain, and low
mountain in the east (the Appalachians). The government system is a constitution–based federal system. The USA is home to a variety of cultures,
race, tradition and extreme sports.
The United States is divided into 50 states, plus the District of Columbia. Mainly known as the lower 48 states or also commonly known as the
contiguous states, all of the states excluding Hawaii and Alaska, which don 't attach to the larger part of the country. Hawaii is an island state located
in the mid Pacific Ocean and Alaska is located just northwest of Canadas edge. The 3.7 million square miles that makes up the United States makes it
the third largest country on earth, standing behind Russia and Canada. While Canada is just a little larger than the United States in land mass, Russia
is almost just as twice as large compared.
Population wise, the United States is the third largest country compared to China and India. Based on the CIA 's 2015 Factbook, China 's population
was about 1.38 billion, just barely ahead of India 's 1.33 billion. Those two countries are really in a league of their own, as the United States

How Did Donald Trump Affect American
Donald John Trump, the 45th United States President, reality tv star, entrepreneur, and real estate magnate. Donald was born on June 14, 1946 at
the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York City. He was the son of Frederick Christ ( Fred) Trump and Mary Anne Trump. His
father died in 1990, while his mother then passed 1 year later in 2000. He was 4th of 5 children; Mary Anne, Fred Jr., Elizabeth, and Robert. All of
his siblings are still alive except Fred Jr., which passed away tragically in 1981. Early in his childhood, at age 13, Donald would make frequent,
secret, trips to Manhattan. His parents wanted to get him back in line so they enrolled him in the New York Military Academy. Donald said, "I was a

Two issues that Trump has hyper–focused on are immigration and job creation during his first 100 days in office. First, I will talk about immigration,
which many would say was his main platform for his election. This was the issue he built his "wall" campaign on. There are over 11.3 million illegal
immigrants living in the United States. Critics say that this "wall" that Trump wants to build is unaffordable and downright unrealistic. From the
beginning of his initial bid for president he was backed by many to build this wall along the 2000 mile US–Mexico border. When Trump first became
instated as the president, he pledged a contiguous, physical wall or other similarly secure, contiguous, and impassable physical barrier. Trump
approached the Mexican president, Enrique PeГ±a Nieto that his country will have to pay for the wall to be built. This didn't go over to well
creating some tension between trump and our neighbor to the south with in his first month of election. Enrique PeГ±a Nieto wanted nothing to do
with paying for the wall since the price tag is so high. With this Ideal to build a wall, he also added as a side note to hire over 10,000 plus
immigration officers to eliminate federal money to sanctuary cities. These cities refuse to deport undocumented immigrants. Also he vowed to catch
and deport the millions of men, women and children who live in this country without documentation. As of his 100th day in office there has been a
recorded decrease in illegal Southwest border crossings due to his increase in border security. Homeland Security as of March 8 release data
showing that in there was alone 18,762 illegal immigrants caught. This is estimated as a 60% decline from november before Trump took over in
office. The only stipulations to this data is , it does not give a general trend since it's been such a short period of

Chaparral Biome In Southern California
A chaparral biome is a plant community shaped by a specific climate characterized by hot, dry summers, and rainy winters. This climate is known as the
Mediterranean climate and it occurs in regions located within the Mediterranean Basin. Although Mediterranean climate is common within the
Mediterranean Basin, it is not exclusive to this area. It can also be experienced in many other areas throughout the world including Cape Town located
in South Africa, the western coast of South America, and the western coast of theUnited States of America. These area's specific climate are what
allows them to be categorized them as chaparral biomes. This essay will focus on the latter of these aforementioned chaparral biomes, specifically the
chaparral biome found in Southern California. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A biome can be best described as a group of flora and fauna in a specified habitat that live together and occur naturally. Meanwhile, a chaparral,
which roots from the Spanish word chaparro (meaning scrub oak), is a community of plants that mainly consist of dense trees and shrubs that
have adapted to the Mediterranean climate. This climate is an essential characteristic of this biome. Another essential characteristic of this biome
is its susceptibility to droughts and wildfires. This is caused by the lack of rainfall it receives per year. For comparison's sake, the average yearly
amount of rainfall the contiguous United States receives is 30.21 inches (or 767 millimeters) while chaparral biomes receive a mere 10 to 15 inches of
rainfall a year. Wildfires are a major aspect to the chaparral cycle because they clear the land of dead vegetation in order to make room for new

Wolves: An Unwanted Predator Essay
Wolves: An Unwanted Predator
Vigorous as a predator, affectionate toward its pack, the gray wolf elicits both fear and admiration among humans. This fear, along with ignorance,
inspired a movement to eradicate the gray wolf from the lower forty–eight states in the early 1900's. By the early 1930's, gray wolf populations had
been completely eliminated from the Rocky Mountains (Bangs, et al 147). In 1973, congress passed the Endangered Species Act that protected any
wolves that naturally migrated from Canada (Bangs, et al 147). Public opinion began to shift and the value of the wolf on the ecosystem was realized.
While the public support for a reintroduction increased, there remained many people who opposed the gray wolf. People ... Show more content on

The ESA states that "to establish a population under section 10(j), the population must be 'wholly separate geographically' from any already existing
wolves within the experimental area" (U.S. Congress sec 10). Since wolf populations had already established themselves as far south as central
Montana, this geographic isolation of the experimental population could be compromised (Bangs, et al 150). Since there is no way to differentiate a
reintroduced "experimental" wolf from one that is protected under the ESA, this "experimental population" posed a threat to the safety of the wolves
that had naturally migrated to the area. Listing a wolf population as experimental reduces the effectiveness of the ESA to protect the wolves that have
returned on their own.
Consequently, reintroduction of the gray wolf in the contiguous United States inhibits the natural migration of the wolf to the Rocky Mountain
Ecosystem. By the early 1930's, gray wolf populations had been completely eliminated from the Rocky Mountains of the United States (Bangs, et al
147). Wolves remained abundant in Canada and Alaska. As early as the late 1970's, wolf sightings in Northwestern Montana were reported by locals.
By 1986, wolves had denned in Glacier National Park in Northwestern Montana (Bangs, et al 147). Wolf

How Does Barack Obama's Influence On The United States
Barack Obama had the biggest influence on the United States in the early 2000's. Barack Obama was the first African–American President, and also
the first president to be born outside of the contiguous United States. Barack Obama served as the 44th President of the United States, from 2009–2017.
He reformed health care, strengthened the economy, helped protect the Environment from the effects of climate change and air pollution, and used
military diplomacy in other countries. One thing Barack Obama did was reform health care. Barack Obama proposed and signed the Affordable Care
Act, covering 32 million uninsured americans beginning in 2014 (Star Tribune). Health care is now mandatory for all citizens. With 20 more million
americans insured the uninsured rate has dropped from 20 percent to 12 percent (America Magazine). Provisions of the law make care accessible to
those who had previously been left out. Obamacare requires that mental health be covered as comprehensively as a physical condition. No one can be
denied insurance for a pre–existing medical issue. Companies can no longer charge women more than men for insurance (bbc.com). It's estimated that
22 million people would lose medical insurance if Obamacare was repealed (bbc.com). By passing the Affordable Care Act, Barack Obama has

GITMO is still open because it is a US military base in the Caribbean that provides a strategic foothold into Latin America and probably irritates the
Castro regime to no end. If you are asking why GITMO is still being used as a facility for the detention of personnel that have been identified as
terrorists or insurgents; that would be because we don't want to house them in the contiguous United States and there are limited other options for where
to move the remaining detainees without another country being willing to take custody or a military tribunal to determine the guilt or innocence of the
individual in detention.
The promise made by President Obama was a cute promise made by a man who wanted to be elected as our President, but had yet to realize the
undertaking that it would be to actually take to close GITMO as a detention facility. I agree, that GITMO should be closed as a detention facility
because this should not be the responsibility of the US people to continue playing world police. I would make the argument for detaining the enemy
combatants in the country they were arrested in, but prison breaks are not unheard of from facilities in Iraq and probably Afghanistan (Arrango &

What Defines Us as Americans??? Over the years there have been many events that have taken place. These events not only affected the people and the
world of the present at that time, but also the future and even the way things are today. Knowing this we must ask ourselves what defines us as
Americans? There are series of events that all together add up to define us as Americans such as, the Constitution, Westward Expansion, and the Civil
War and Reconstruction. What do you think defines us as Americans? The Constitution states "We the People of theUnited States, in Order to form a

Furthermore, it brings people together to bond with animals and each other, enhancing the community. Education and awareness can go a long way to
solving most problems and dog rescue is no exception. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA),
approximately 7.6 million companion animals are admitted into shelters in the United States every year; 3.9 million are dogs, of which 1.2 million are
euthanized and only 1.4 million are adopted (the numbers for cats are very similar). That works out to nearly a 35% adoption rate, 41% rate of
euthanization, and 26% are strays returned to their homes. Two times the number of dogs come into shelters as strays as opposed to being
surrendered by their owners. There are several reasons people surrender their dogs; per the American Humane Association, 29% are surrendered
because people live in or move to homes that do not allow pets, while reasons such as a lack of adequate time to care for the animal, divorce and
death, and behavior issues make up 10% apiece (with various other issues occupying the remainder). There are 70–80 million dogs owned in the United
States which works out to around 37–47% of households; 28% of dogs come from breeders while 29% are adopted from shelters and most of those are
through friends and acquaintances. Per the American Veterinary Medicine Association roughly 40% of pet owners find their pets by referrals from
various sources. Around 13,600 independent animal shelters operate nationwide employing such monikers as "humane society" and "SPCA," but those
organizations are not affiliated with the ASPCA or the Humane Society of the United States. Its impossible to determine the number of stray dogs
every year, but statistically the average female has one litter (four to six puppies) each year of fertility. Many end up as strays; a lot of

There are fifty states in the United States of America. Forty–eight of them are contiguous and are part of North America. Montana is one of the 50

Essay on Westward Expansion
Book Review – Westward Expansion 1807– 1880
THESIS:
After the War of 1812 much of America's attention turned to exploration and settlement of its territory to the West, which had been greatly enlarged by
the Louisiana Purchase.
SUMMARY:
Families of pioneers swept westward and founded new communities throughout what is now the Midwest, and between 1816 and 1821, six new states
were admitted to the Union.
The land boom was fed by encouragement from the federal government and the actions of land speculators, who bought up large tracts of land in order
to sell it in parcels to farmers at exorbitant prices. These farmers did not mind high prices and high interest on loans due to the growing success of
American agricultural products. Most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The canal and railroad systems, which grew up in the North, facilitated a much larger volume of trade and manufacturing while reducing costs a great
deal. Great cities sprang up throughout the North and Northwest, bolstered by the improvement in transportation.
After the Midwest had been substantially developed, the national focus turned toward the far west. The territory of Texas, controlled by the Spanish,
was settled by Americans, who eventually undertook the Texas Rebellion in efforts to win independence. When theUnited States admitted Texas to the
Union in 1845, the Mexican government was outraged, and from 1846 to 1848, the two nation's squared off in the Mexican War. With a resounding
victory, the United States gained control of Texas, New Mexico, and California. The Oregon territory was annexed in 1846 as well, and the US
controlled the land all the way to the Pacific Ocean.
As the population of the West soared and the prospects of statehood for western territories appeared clearer and clearer, the nation battled over the
future of slavery in the West. This battle was one reason for the Civil War, which slowed the acceleration of expansion. However, the last three decades
of the nineteenth century saw the return of accelerating expansion due to the successful struggle to contain the Plains Indians in reservations, and the
completion of the transcontinental railroad in 1869. By the

In order to best answer the question posed one must break expansionism into two separate time periods. Both of these time periods show comparisons
and contrasts with US expansionism. From 1776–1880 and the late 1800s–1914 are chronicled by major events in United States and World history.
Using these documents as well as commonly known events that occurred during these time periods I will show the similarities and differences that late
nineteenth century and early twentieth century United States expansionism exhibit from past United States expansionism.
United States expansionism has undergone many changes throughout the years. We have expanded for land, for God, and for the economy. As the

that rules the Pacific, therefore, is the power that rules the world. And, with the Philippines, that power is and will forever be the American

territories not only possible but socially acceptable. Under Teddy Roosevelt, the people of the United States were all for expansion. He had the
ability to incite the American public and rally its force behind him. After all, who can stand against the people of the United States of America
when they are truly united? Our country had progressed in its departures tracing all the way back to 1885 when, as Thomas Nast depicts, the United
States was nowhere to be found in the game of "World Plundering" (Doc A). After the acquisition of a naval power, the United States could
withstand the competition involved in economic world dominance. As shown in the cartoon of "American Diplomacy" in 1900, Uncle Sam is
standing at the forefront of Chinas "open door" holding the key which represents said American Diplomacy. (Doc G) However, with positives always
come negatives. Prejudice against immigrants and no chance of citizenship for our newly acquired lands were a few of the drawbacks of over
expansion. There simply was not enough room for all the

Outdoor Cats Cause A Decline
Sub–arguments are: (1) Outdoor cats cause a decline in wildlife. (2) T.N.R. is an ineffective treatment. (3) Outdoor cats are a threat to human health.
Therefore, the main argument is: (4) Cats should not live outdoors.
Premises support (1): (5) Outdoor cats killed 2.4 billion birds annually in the lower 48 states. (6) Outdoor cats also kill about 12.3 billion small
mammals and about 650 million reptiles and amphibians.
Premises support (2): (7) T.N.R. is generally not particularly effective at reducingferal cat colonies. (8) It is a way for shelters to save their image
instead of euthanizing cats.
Premises support (3): (9) Cats are more likely to carry rabies. (10) They also share parasites or infectious microbes with humans. (11) Outdoor cats are
the primary hosts of toxoplasmosis, which effects around 30% of humans.

(4)
Sub–argument (1): I perceive (1) to be a deductive argument as all the premises seem to be intended to provide conclusive support for the conclusion.
(5) and (6) both provide statistical support for (1), claiming that outdoor cats killed about 2.4 billion birds a year in the lower states and 12.3 billion
small mammals, as well as 650 million reptiles and amphibians. The use of these figures appear to have been included to conclusively support the claim
that outdoor cats cause a decline in wildlife. These numbers are pretty substantial. Therefore, this large amount of small mammals,

Great Grey Owls Essay
Great Gray Owls
I learned many interesting things by reading this article on great grey owls. I really had no knowledge of this species before I began, but I now have a
certain respect for them because of the familiarity I have gained. One interesting aspect of these owls is their hunting methods.
The great gray owl is a very aggressive hunter when it finds its prey. "These owls don't just pounce, the plunge" (Warren, p.78). First, they locate their
prey with the help of their large facial disk that funnels sound to their ears. Then, they tuck their extremely sharp hooked–shaped claws under their chin
and torpedo headfirst towards the ground to snatch their next meal. In winter, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Conservation biologist Jim Duncan said that during the winter, "It's as if there's a big winter sale on voles, and great gray owls are the only
customers in the store" (Warren, p.79). Sounds like a pretty good sale to me! (Great Gray Owls, 2005)
Another very intriguing fact that I learned is that great gray owls make very devoted parents. This was discovered when it was observed that mothers
will practically starve themselves when prey is scarce. Females sometimes even lose one–third of their body weight in just one month. They do this so
their chick can eat the maximum amount of food as possible and grow up healthy. (Great Gray Owls, 2005)
Great gray owls weigh only two to three pounds as adults, but their wingspans can be 60 inches across and 33 inches high. The size of this animal
makes it difficult for them to maneuver very well in areas of many trees that create dense vegetation, so they must find open spaces to live. (Great
Gray Owls, 2005)
Only two–thirds of owlets make it without being eaten by predators such as ravens, great horned owls, or weasels. This is so because once a chick
breaks out of its shell, the area around the nest develops a distinct aroma and it immediately becomes a danger zone for them. Owls begin to fly when
they are about seven to eight weeks old, but until then they must disperse from the nest. Despite their need to part from

Pomona College was fused on October 14, 1887, by a gathering of Congregationalists who needed to reproduce on the West Coast "a school of the

How Did Ashoka Use Military Power
Ashoka was a great emperor who ruled the Indian Mauryan Empire. He was the third emperor of
this empire and his ruling style was separate from the previous rulers. When Ashoka first came to
rule, he ruled the same way ChandraGupta Maurya did, which was in a very cruel way. He was
known to have used military power to make his empire grow larger. He also made cruel laws which
would cause serious pain to the prisoners inside of his empire. He wanted all prisoners to be
tortured in the worst way possible, and that no criminal should be allowed to leave the prison alive.
People feared him which caused them to be careful about what they say or do, and not be open

High Gas Prices In California
For Californians, a trip out–of–state comes with many surprises, one of them being gas prices. As any amateur economist knows the reason for the
staggering prices is due to additional taxes added on by the state. California being the proactive state that it is has initiated multiple regulations on fuel
and not one of them is forgiving to buyers. According to a recent Wall Street Journal article, gas prices in the state are well above the national average
due to the harsh regulations of the government. People respond to incentives, and the residents of California make decisions by comparing costs and
benefits. There are a couple factors that cause the "sky–high" gas prices in California, but a main contributor is an anti–carbon regulation. ... Show more

There has been some talk about an "oil–extraction tax." With this tax in place, it would force companies to fork out more of the tax instead of the
consumer. If higher taxes are put in place for the producer ultimately they are not the ones paying the higher price the consumer is. Either way
producers will receive revenue and in order to do that they will just raise their prices. The demand for fuel is based on necessity forcing consumers
to pay outrageous prices because they need it. In addition to the tax, oil companies would have to disclose more information about their supplies and
prices. Since the companies have market power, some believe with the tax in place it would reduce the price of the good.
If there is anything that must be said, more taxes equal higher prices. The only way to lower gas prices is through reducing taxes and regulation. Many
argue that the regulations in place in the state of California are over the top and unnecessary. There has never been a time in human history that more
taxes resulted in lower prices. The "oil–extraction tax" is a disastrous plan that would only result in upset consumers because of the terribly high prices

Ireland and the United States of America. The three specific ways that these two countries can be compared are via: economic and political outlook,
social and cultural issues, and resources and work culture. Additionally, each country is known throughout the world. Primarily because of their
business structure. The first factor that will be addressed is economic and political outlook. To begin one will address the political outlook of these two
countries, and with that comes the form of government. Both are republics. With the United States being a "constitutional federal ... Show more content

key difference is that in Ireland the judges in the Supreme Court cannot "serve past age 70", whereas in the United States the judges are appointed
for life ("The World Factbook: IRELAND", 2017, Pg. 1). Hence, the age of justices varies between these two republics. These three major branches
of government can also overlap at times to provide a peaceful resolution or to resolve active disputes. Now for the economic outlook of these two
countries. This comparing, and contrasting segment is more difficult than the political outlook. Since, these two countries do vary quite significantly
in terms of population and size. For instance, Ireland's population as of July 2016 was just below five million, which is incomparable to the roughly

Summary: The 1960s Riots
For me living overseas, I avoid demonstrations location and suspicious gathering because a nonviolent demonstration or protest could escalate into a
violent riot due to some tension by the frustrated public over social issues such as injustice. For example, August 2011 in London there was an uproar
caused by the police shooting of a young man of mixed race named Mark Duggin (Kalleberg, 2015). On the other hand, in the United States, we had
several example Ferguson, Missouri riot. I learned that the 1992 Rodney King beating and Los Angeles riots, said to change America since the 1960s

riots in the past was due to the growing inequality experienced by the minorities. Also, people fought for reforms, and the rights to vote. Today, people

The Israeli-Palestinian Wall
The Israeli–Palestinian wall that has been under construction for nearly twelve years is adding more fuel to a fire that appears to only be growing.
The wall has been doing more harm to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict than good. Ironically, the wall was created to help the conflict during the time of
the Second Intifada that occurred from 2000 to 2006. The intention of the wall at the time was to put "...an end to the phenomenon of cross–border
Palestinian suicide bombers", and also had a "...wide support withing Israel, where it is seen as a security measure" (Procon.org 2). Over time, the once
perceived "security measure" turned into a negative aftereffect, mainly for the Palestinians. The Israeli–Palestinian wall has negative outcomes ... Show

The Palestinian economy, due to the route of the wall, has suffered tremendously. The displacement of Palestinian civilians has been a major
contributor to this issue. New rules and regulations require citizens who live in the territory between the green line must apply for a series of permits
that would allow them to live, drive, and work in the zone in which they are entrapped (Roy 34). Therefore, as Theirry Delbreuve said, "...agricultural
communities were losing contact with the land on which they depended both for their present livelihood and for their future survival" (United Nations
Page 2). Palestine's economy has suffered tremendously, because Israel has made it possible through the construction of the wall to have full control
over Palestinian's resources, such as land, water, and labor. This in turn has created Palestinian economic dependence on and with Israel (Current
History Page 32). As stated in Current History, the World Bank estimates that it will take some 20 years for the Palestinian economy to return to
where it was on the eve of the current Intifada, as their economy has contracted by half (Page 32). Palestine's "...access to work, food, housing, and
other needed resources has been severely eroded" (Current History Page 35), having a huge economic toll on Palestine's economy, which in turn has
increased tensions between the

Cultural Deprivation: The Hispanic Challenge      Why do some groups not succeed in academic settings? One theory
brought up in "Understanding inequality" suggests that the gap in the socioeconomic status drives the inequalities in the school system. The low and
working class have less time and income to intervene with schooling. This means they have less time to meet with teachers, hire tutors, and provide
continuous transportation. Therefore the lower class can't possibly compete with the middle and upper classes. Angela Valenzuela gives the accounts

According to Huntington, unlike previous immigrants, Hispanics wish to retain a dual culture. This presents them with the culture clash of two
varying views on culture as well as education. There are several factors that have made this culture of immigrants assimilations' so much different
than the past immigrants that America has so fondly welcomed with open arms. These include contiguity, scale illegality regional concentration,
persistence and historical presence.      The fact that the US shares such a large boarder with Mexico is enhanced
by the great economic differences on each side. "The income gap between the United States and Mexico is the largest between any two contiguous
countries in the world" (Huntington). The incentive to immigrate is obvious, and allows Latinos to remain in contact with their family and friends
while making a living in the US. Because the passage between these boarders is so accessible, it has lead to immigration on a grand scale. The
persistence of Hispanics in migrating has lead to having Mexicans account for nearly half of all immigration to the US and has changed Mexican's
standing from the minority to the majority in many areas. This regional concentration has slowed assimilation because "dispersal is essential" for this
to take place. An example of regional concentration slowing this process down to almost a halt is in Miami in

shares all of these aspects with the first seeming like a broken continuation, the second Manifest Destiny is also very much a departure from the
original beliefs. Expansion became a huge competition between the nations. The United States was expanding to foreign lands, but not simply to
achieve a goal, now the US wanted to compete with Europe and take natural resources from conquered territories. America needed more resources
because it was going through a period of overproduction, as evidenced by the depression of 1893. This way the United States wouldn't merely gain
more natural resources, but also new markets, new capitol, and new labor. As Americans set out to lay claim to these new territories, they left with the
Social Darwinism belief that stronger ones will naturally dominate weaker nations. Joshia Strong the author of Our Country: Its Possible Future and Its

1.Kodiak Alaska based U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) flight crews work in a 4,000,000–square–mile area of responsibility (AOR) operating in some of the
most challenging weather condition to protect lives. It is easy to see that these crews must have the best training and must maintain peak proficiency in
order to safely execute required missions. Yet Kodiak flight crews are arguably the least proficient in the USCG. Most units in the lower 48 states have
several operational Small Boat Stations within their AOR to conduct practice hoist evolutions. Air Station Kodiak has no nearby stations and only 1
training boat available 7 or 8 months a year. Ref. (a) requires that all Flight Mechanics (FM) complete 1 boat hoist within the previous 90 days to ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3.To address this issue the current USCG Air Operations Manual requires that all FM's complete 1 "boat hoist" every 90 days to maintain
qualification. This rule which is designed to maintain proficiency has an opposite effect in Kodiak. Handcuffed by this requirement and limited
"boat" training opportunities Kodiak is forced to "load the bus" with multiple FM's when a boat hoisting flight is available. This action limits each
FM to 2 or 4 hoist each event vs the 10–15 he/she would get if they were on the flight alone. This point is confirmed by an ALMIS "Annual Hoists per
FM" report (Encl: 1). Kodiak FM's averaged 18.1 training hoists per year with a fleet average 36.1 hoists per FM per year.
4.One way to correct this issue would be a 3710.1 policy change that would allow both Rescues Swimmer (RS) and land hoists to count towards the
90–day hoist requirement. This change would give Kodiak more flexibility to complete proficiency training when a training boat is unavailable.
Training events such dual RS and land hoisting are not currently scheduled offen as they do not count towards 3710.1 minimum requirements.
Currently any FM that exceeds the 90–day hoist requirement is unqualified pending a decision by the CO. This decision requires the FM to route a
memo through their chain of command in order to receive permission from the CO to continue flying and receive their required proficiency training.

Mccandless : The Story Of Mccandless By Jon Krakauer
The story of McCandless may leave some people with many questions, but for me, I feel like everything I learned about the man just from the story of
"death of an Innocent" by Jon Krakauer makes sense. The story of Chris involved leaving unexpectedly, very random and spontaneous. 24–year–old
Chris left everything behind after he graduated from Emory University and received his bachelor's degree in history/anthropology. He gave all his
money to charity and then was never to be seen by his family again. He traveled through some of the lower 48 states, and finally made his way up to
Alaska. This was part of his plan to live off the land, and be just free.
He ran into an electrician named James Gallien who picked him while hitch hiking right out of Fairbanks, AK. The story with James Gallien is a
large portion of this experience of Chris' because he told Gallien what he had in mind. Gallien tried to talk some sense into Chris before his journey,
Chris assured him "I won't run into anything I can't deal with on my own." This quote goes to show what kind of personality and attitude the man had.
James Gallien was the last man Chris talked to before his death.
Krakauer portrays Chris's personality being very confident, careless yet at peace and venturesome vibe; I couldn't agree more to what I think of his
personality. I believe this story of Chris is very important for people to learn and hear about. This man, Chris, made history because not a lot of people

Article Summary of What Lies Beneath in America? USArray is a huge seismology project. The purpose is to basically take an ultrasound of the
contiguous United States to understand the past and possibly the future of what goes on underneath the surface. Our current picture is mostly blurry,
full of educated guesses and theories. By capturing all the sounds underneath and on the earth's surface, a 3D picture will emerge that will clear the
picture for us dramatically. We will be able to see what goes on underground all the way to where the mantle touches the core, maybe even further
(Courtland, 2009).
The project consists of 400 seismometers that are buried underground in a remote, quiet place for 2 years, power by the sun. The seismological
readings are continuously being relayed by satellite to a center in Seattle. These seismometers are about 70 kilometers apart. After 2 years, they get
pulled and buried again more eastward eventually reading the entire contiguous states. After many years, we get have a clear picture of what goes on
underneath. A total of 1624 sites are planned (Courtland, 2009).

Satire Essay About Mexico

  • 1. Satire Essay About Mexico Pierick 1 Tanner J. Pierick Professor Robert Fry English 122 14 February 2018 Mexico: "The" Place To Retire Although the stunning beaches and vibrant culture in Mexico are intriguing, the Central American country of Mexico boasts numerous aspects that would attract me to call it home in my elderly years. Next Avenue released an article saying: Mexico knocked off last year's No. 1 Panama because you can live well there for under $1200 per month, it's close to the United States, the locals are friendly, English is widely spoken in popular retiree spots, the expat community is large (more than one million Americans live there), health care is affordable and high quality, and the culture and lifestyle are fantastic. "How to retire to Mexico: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe, there is nothing wrong with a modest life. Cross also talks about how the people in his small town of Ajijic were friendly beyond compare from the very beginning. This resonated to me because I value meaningful and warm relationships. With all the places on Earth to live, Mexico attracts tourists and retirees from around the world. Although other countries appeal to these groups of people, Mexico remains the number one destination. Having never been out of the U.S. before, Mexico sounds appealing to me. "Based on its cost, climate and culture, and other important considerations like access to amenities and healthcare, Mexico comes out consistently on top" (How to retire to Mexico: A complete guide). Mexico may not have been an obvious selection for American retirees and other global retirees, but it certainly caught my attention as I've researched possible destinations to retire. Upon researching various retirement destinations, Mexico is the place I would choose to call home in my later years. Along with the aforementioned benefits to a Mexico retirement, many Mexican businesses have bilingual employees and print literature in English. Mexico's natural beauty and welcoming culture, along with its strong family values, seems to fit my hopes for life beyond my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Example Of Annexation 1. Annexation– legally adding land area to a city in the United States. Example: During the nineteenth century, the city of Chicago grew at an expedite rate due to the annexation of peripheral land. In 1837, for example, Chicago grew from a mere 10 square miles to 190 square miles in 1900. As time continued, specifically during the twentieth century, little land was annexed; the major annexation was on the northwest side for O'Hare Airport. In today's day, cities are less prone to annex peripheral land. This is due to the fact that residents prefer to organize their own services rather than pay city taxes to them. In the past, some of the peripheral jurisdictions were small, isolated towns. The towns have a traditions of independent local governed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Little Red Riding Hood scarcely gets away from the guile advances of the avaricious wolf camouflaged as her grandma. Such myths and legends have depicted the wolf as a danger to human presence. Dreaded as inhumane executioners, they were abhorred and oppressed. Wolves were not only shot and murdered; they were tormented too. Persuaded that they were an issue to be explained, U.S. subjects bit by bit annihilated dim wolves from the lower 48 states over a time of 25 years. • 4. Geographical Information System ( Gis ) Water withdrawal is the amount of water taken from the ground or surface water source and water use is defined as the water which is withdrawn for specific purposes, such as domestic, irrigation, industrial etc. With increasing population and climate change effects, the demands for water resources are increased; as a result, ground water and surface water withdrawals become very important. Water resources are essential for public use, power generation, agricultural production, recreation and so on. However, increasing effects of climate change and population growth cause sustained water shortages in the some regions of United States. Unfortunately, in some states, water demand has exceeded the water supply. • 5. The Territorial Status Of Puerto Rico While some groups tend to separate themselves, differences are what make humans inherently similar. According to Mahatma Gandhi, "Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization". Even though some may feel different than others, this does not mean that everyone cannot join together with time. If people of different backgrounds and perspectives unite, they can overcome any divisive barriers constructed by the past. Sometimes, barriers can exist in places where one would least expect them, even in seemingly united nations. One example of a hidden divide present in the Western world is the territorial status of Puerto Rico. Despite American ownership of the island, Puerto Rican citizens are not granted the same rights and privileges as citizens of the 50 states. Despite Puerto Rico's long American history and attempts to gain statehood status, Puerto Ricans are still treated differently by the federal government. This ought to be changed. Puerto Rico should be granted statehood status as a result of the fact that it would improve the territory's stability, strengthen American moral and social dynamics, and benefit the entire American populous. The statehood debate can be somewhat contentious, but there are some facts that both sides can agree to be true. The first is that the social and cultural dynamics of Puerto Rico and the 50 states are somewhat different. Many fear that Puerto Rico is too culturally distinct to be ... Donald was born on June 14, 1946 at the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York City. He was the son of Frederick Christ ( Fred) Trump and Mary Anne Trump. His father died in 1990, while his mother then passed 1 year later in 2000. He was 4th of 5 children; Mary Anne, Fred Jr., Elizabeth, and Robert. All of his siblings are still alive except Fred Jr., which passed away tragically in 1981. Early in his childhood, at age 13, Donald would make frequent, secret, trips to Manhattan. Two issues that Trump has hyper–focused on are immigration and job creation during his first 100 days in office. First, I will talk about immigration, which many would say was his main platform for his election. This was the issue he built his "wall" campaign on. There are over 11.3 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. Critics say that this "wall" that Trump wants to build is unaffordable and downright unrealistic. From the beginning of his initial bid for president he was backed by many to build this wall along the 2000 mile US–Mexico border. When Trump first became instated as the president, he pledged a contiguous, physical wall or other similarly secure, contiguous, and impassable physical barrier. Trump approached the Mexican president, Enrique PeГ±a Nieto that his country will have to pay for the wall to be built. This didn't go over to well creating some tension between trump and our neighbor to the south with in his first month of election. Enrique PeГ±a Nieto wanted nothing to do with paying for the wall since the price tag is so high. With this Ideal to build a wall, he also added as a side note to hire over 10,000 plus immigration officers to eliminate federal money to sanctuary cities. These cities refuse to deport undocumented immigrants. Also he vowed to catch and deport the millions of men, women and children who live in this country without documentation. As of his 100th day in office there has been a recorded decrease in illegal Southwest border crossings due to his increase in border security. Homeland Security as of March 8 release data showing that in there was alone 18,762 illegal immigrants caught. This is estimated as a 60% decline from november before Trump took over in office. A biome can be best described as a group of flora and fauna in a specified habitat that live together and occur naturally. Meanwhile, a chaparral, which roots from the Spanish word chaparro (meaning scrub oak), is a community of plants that mainly consist of dense trees and shrubs that have adapted to the Mediterranean climate. This climate is an essential characteristic of this biome. Another essential characteristic of this biome is its susceptibility to droughts and wildfires. This is caused by the lack of rainfall it receives per year. For comparison's sake, the average yearly amount of rainfall the contiguous United States receives is 30.21 inches (or 767 millimeters) while chaparral biomes receive a mere 10 to 15 inches of rainfall a year. • 9. Wolves: An Unwanted Predator Essay Wolves: An Unwanted Predator Vigorous as a predator, affectionate toward its pack, the gray wolf elicits both fear and admiration among humans. This fear, along with ignorance, inspired a movement to eradicate the gray wolf from the lower forty–eight states in the early 1900's. By the early 1930's, gray wolf populations had been completely eliminated from the Rocky Mountains (Bangs, et al 147). In 1973, congress passed the Endangered Species Act that protected any wolves that naturally migrated from Canada (Bangs, et al 147). Public opinion began to shift and the value of the wolf on the ecosystem was realized. While the public support for a reintroduction increased, there remained many people who opposed the gray wolf. People ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ESA states that "to establish a population under section 10(j), the population must be 'wholly separate geographically' from any already existing wolves within the experimental area" (U.S. Congress sec 10). Since wolf populations had already established themselves as far south as central Montana, this geographic isolation of the experimental population could be compromised (Bangs, et al 150). Since there is no way to differentiate a reintroduced "experimental" wolf from one that is protected under the ESA, this "experimental population" posed a threat to the safety of the wolves that had naturally migrated to the area. Listing a wolf population as experimental reduces the effectiveness of the ESA to protect the wolves that have returned on their own. Consequently, reintroduction of the gray wolf in the contiguous United States inhibits the natural migration of the wolf to the Rocky Mountain Ecosystem. By the early 1930's, gray wolf populations had been completely eliminated from the Rocky Mountains of the United States (Bangs, et al 147). Wolves remained abundant in Canada and Alaska. As early as the late 1970's, wolf sightings in Northwestern Montana were reported by locals. By 1986, wolves had denned in Glacier National Park in Northwestern Montana (Bangs, et al 147). Wolf ... Barack Obama was the first African–American President, and also the first president to be born outside of the contiguous United States. Barack Obama served as the 44th President of the United States, from 2009–2017. He reformed health care, strengthened the economy, helped protect the Environment from the effects of climate change and air pollution, and used military diplomacy in other countries. One thing Barack Obama did was reform health care. Barack Obama proposed and signed the Affordable Care Act, covering 32 million uninsured americans beginning in 2014 (Star Tribune). Health care is now mandatory for all citizens. With 20 more million americans insured the uninsured rate has dropped from 20 percent to 12 percent (America Magazine). Provisions of the law make care accessible to those who had previously been left out. Obamacare requires that mental health be covered as comprehensively as a physical condition. No one can be denied insurance for a pre–existing medical issue. Companies can no longer charge women more than men for insurance (bbc.com). Pros And Cons Of Gimo GITMO is still open because it is a US military base in the Caribbean that provides a strategic foothold into Latin America and probably irritates the Castro regime to no end. If you are asking why GITMO is still being used as a facility for the detention of personnel that have been identified as terrorists or insurgents; that would be because we don't want to house them in the contiguous United States and there are limited other options for where to move the remaining detainees without another country being willing to take custody or a military tribunal to determine the guilt or innocence of the individual in detention. The promise made by President Obama was a cute promise made by a man who wanted to be elected as our President, but had yet to realize the undertaking that it would be to actually take to close GITMO as a detention facility. I agree, that GITMO should be closed as a detention facility because this should not be the responsibility of the US people to continue playing world police. That works out to nearly a 35% adoption rate, 41% rate of euthanization, and 26% are strays returned to their homes. Two times the number of dogs come into shelters as strays as opposed to being surrendered by their owners. There are several reasons people surrender their dogs; per the American Humane Association, 29% are surrendered because people live in or move to homes that do not allow pets, while reasons such as a lack of adequate time to care for the animal, divorce and death, and behavior issues make up 10% apiece (with various other issues occupying the remainder). There are 70–80 million dogs owned in the United States which works out to around 37–47% of households; 28% of dogs come from breeders while 29% are adopted from shelters and most of those are through friends and acquaintances. Essay on Westward Expansion Book Review – Westward Expansion 1807– 1880 THESIS: After the War of 1812 much of America's attention turned to exploration and settlement of its territory to the West, which had been greatly enlarged by the Louisiana Purchase. SUMMARY: Families of pioneers swept westward and founded new communities throughout what is now the Midwest, and between 1816 and 1821, six new states were admitted to the Union. The land boom was fed by encouragement from the federal government and the actions of land speculators, who bought up large tracts of land in order to sell it in parcels to farmers at exorbitant prices. These farmers did not mind high prices and high interest on loans due to the growing success of American agricultural products. Most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The canal and railroad systems, which grew up in the North, facilitated a much larger volume of trade and manufacturing while reducing costs a great deal. Great cities sprang up throughout the North and Northwest, bolstered by the improvement in transportation. After the Midwest had been substantially developed, the national focus turned toward the far west. The territory of Texas, controlled by the Spanish, was settled by Americans, who eventually undertook the Texas Rebellion in efforts to win independence. When theUnited States admitted Texas to the Union in 1845, the Mexican government was outraged, and from 1846 to 1848, the two nation's squared off in the Mexican War. With a resounding victory, the United States gained control of Texas, New Mexico, and California. The Oregon territory was annexed in 1846 as well, and the US controlled the land all the way to the Pacific Ocean. As the population of the West soared and the prospects of statehood for western territories appeared clearer and clearer, the nation battled over the future of slavery in the West. This battle was one reason for the Civil War, which slowed the acceleration of expansion. However, the last three decades of the nineteenth century saw the return of accelerating expansion due to the successful struggle to contain the Plains Indians in reservations, and the completion of the transcontinental railroad in 1869. I really had no knowledge of this species before I began, but I now have a certain respect for them because of the familiarity I have gained. This was discovered when it was observed that mothers will practically starve themselves when prey is scarce. Females sometimes even lose one–third of their body weight in just one month. They do this so their chick can eat the maximum amount of food as possible and grow up healthy. (Great Gray Owls, 2005) Great gray owls weigh only two to three pounds as adults, but their wingspans can be 60 inches across and 33 inches high. The size of this animal makes it difficult for them to maneuver very well in areas of many trees that create dense vegetation, so they must find open spaces to live. (Great Gray Owls, 2005) Only two–thirds of owlets make it without being eaten by predators such as ravens, great horned owls, or weasels. This is so because once a chick breaks out of its shell, the area around the nest develops a distinct aroma and it immediately becomes a danger zone for them. Since the companies have market power, some believe with the tax in place it would reduce the price of the good. If there is anything that must be said, more taxes equal higher prices. The only way to lower gas prices is through reducing taxes and regulation. Many argue that the regulations in place in the state of California are over the top and unnecessary. There has never been a time in human history that more taxes resulted in lower prices. I grew up in Washington D.C., and at age 11 our family moved 3,000 miles across country to Portland. My father got a better job, and with a promise of a better life, we moved west. This move was my first step in learning about different cultures, and dialects. There is a different way of life in the WesternUnited States, compared to the East, and I can still fit into both. I was recently introduced to a term that fits me well: edge walker. These are people who are able to walk the line between two cultures. My interest in Spain and Spanish starts with my Grandfather. • 28. As With Any Other Comparative Analysis, This Essay Will As with any other comparative analysis, this essay will discuss the similarities between two elements. The elements in this situation are the Republic of Ireland and the United States of America. The three specific ways that these two countries can be compared are via: economic and political outlook, social and cultural issues, and resources and work culture. Additionally, each country is known throughout the world. Primarily because of their business structure. The first factor that will be addressed is economic and political outlook. To begin one will address the political outlook of these two countries, and with that comes the form of government. Both are republics. With the United States being a "constitutional federal ... In the judicial branch, both countries have a Supreme Court ("The World Factbook: IRELAND", 2017, Pg. 1). Whose role is to hear legal cases of significant magnitude to the country and/or its citizens. One key difference is that in Ireland the judges in the Supreme Court cannot "serve past age 70", whereas in the United States the judges are appointed for life ("The World Factbook: IRELAND", 2017, Pg. 1). Hence, the age of justices varies between these two republics. These three major branches of government can also overlap at times to provide a peaceful resolution or to resolve active disputes. Now for the economic outlook of these two countries. This comparing, and contrasting segment is more difficult than the political outlook. Since, these two countries do vary quite significantly in terms of population and size. For instance, Ireland's population as of July 2016 was just below five million, which is incomparable to the roughly 324 million United States population ("The World Factbook: IRELAND", 2017, Pg. 1). That means the Irish population could be added about 65 times to reach the American population. However, these two nations do have some similarities. First, both countries rely heavily on technology to propel their economic growth and expansion. For Ireland has a "talented pool of high–tech laborers" and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary: The 1960s Riots For me living overseas, I avoid demonstrations location and suspicious gathering because a nonviolent demonstration or protest could escalate into a violent riot due to some tension by the frustrated public over social issues such as injustice. For example, August 2011 in London there was an uproar caused by the police shooting of a young man of mixed race named Mark Duggin (Kalleberg, 2015). On the other hand, in the United States, we had several example Ferguson, Missouri riot. I learned that the 1992 Rodney King beating and Los Angeles riots, said to change America since the 1960s (Stewart, 2012). According to The Labor Market Effects of the 1960s Riots, their findings pointed out that the 60s riot had economically significant negative effects on blacks' income and employment (Francis, 2004) Several riots in the past was due to the growing inequality experienced by the minorities. Also, people fought for reforms, and the rights to vote. Today, people have those Civil Rights, and several individuals are disciplined and aware of the consequences of a riot. • 30. The Israeli-Palestinian Wall The Israeli–Palestinian wall that has been under construction for nearly twelve years is adding more fuel to a fire that appears to only be growing. The wall has been doing more harm to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict than good. Ironically, the wall was created to help the conflict during the time of the Second Intifada that occurred from 2000 to 2006. The intention of the wall at the time was to put "...an end to the phenomenon of cross–border Palestinian suicide bombers", and also had a "...wide support withing Israel, where it is seen as a security measure" (Procon.org 2). Over time, the once perceived "security measure" turned into a negative aftereffect, mainly for the Palestinians. The Israeli–Palestinian wall has negative outcomes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Palestinian economy, due to the route of the wall, has suffered tremendously. The displacement of Palestinian civilians has been a major contributor to this issue. New rules and regulations require citizens who live in the territory between the green line must apply for a series of permits that would allow them to live, drive, and work in the zone in which they are entrapped (Roy 34). Therefore, as Theirry Delbreuve said, "...agricultural communities were losing contact with the land on which they depended both for their present livelihood and for their future survival" (United Nations Page 2). Palestine's economy has suffered tremendously, because Israel has made it possible through the construction of the wall to have full control over Palestinian's resources, such as land, water, and labor. This in turn has created Palestinian economic dependence on and with Israel (Current History Page 32). As stated in Current History, the World Bank estimates that it will take some 20 years for the Palestinian economy to return to where it was on the eve of the current Intifada, as their economy has contracted by half (Page 32). Palestine's "...access to work, food, housing, and other needed resources has been severely eroded" (Current History Page 35), having a huge economic toll on Palestine's economy, which in turn has increased tensions between the ... One theory brought up in "Understanding inequality" suggests that the gap in the socioeconomic status drives the inequalities in the school system. The low and working class have less time and income to intervene with schooling. This means they have less time to meet with teachers, hire tutors, and provide continuous transportation. Therefore the lower class can't possibly compete with the middle and upper classes. Angela Valenzuela gives the accounts of some Hispanic students' experiences in school. According to Huntington, unlike previous immigrants, Hispanics wish to retain a dual culture. This presents them with the culture clash of two varying views on culture as well as education. There are several factors that have made this culture of immigrants assimilations' so much different than the past immigrants that America has so fondly welcomed with open arms. These include contiguity, scale illegality regional concentration, persistence and historical presence.      The fact that the US shares such a large boarder with Mexico is enhanced by the great economic differences on each side. "The income gap between the United States and Mexico is the largest between any two contiguous countries in the world" (Huntington). The incentive to immigrate is obvious, and allows Latinos to remain in contact with their family and friends while making a living in the US. Because the passage between these boarders is so accessible, it has lead to immigration on a grand scale. The persistence of Hispanics in migrating has lead to having Mexicans account for nearly half of all immigration to the US and has changed Mexican's standing from the minority to the majority in many areas. This regional concentration has slowed assimilation because "dispersal is essential" for this to take place. An example of regional concentration slowing this process down to almost a halt is in Miami in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the second Manifest Destiny shares all of these aspects with the first seeming like a broken continuation, the second Manifest Destiny is also very much a departure from the original beliefs. Expansion became a huge competition between the nations. The United States was expanding to foreign lands, but not simply to achieve a goal, now the US wanted to compete with Europe and take natural resources from conquered territories. America needed more resources because it was going through a period of overproduction, as evidenced by the depression of 1893. This way the United States wouldn't merely gain more natural resources, but also new markets, new capitol, and new labor. As Americans set out to lay claim to these new territories, they left with the Social Darwinism belief that stronger ones will naturally dominate weaker nations. It is easy to see that these crews must have the best training and must maintain peak proficiency in order to safely execute required missions. Yet Kodiak flight crews are arguably the least proficient in the USCG. Most units in the lower 48 states have several operational Small Boat Stations within their AOR to conduct practice hoist evolutions. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3.To address this issue the current USCG Air Operations Manual requires that all FM's complete 1 "boat hoist" every 90 days to maintain qualification. This rule which is designed to maintain proficiency has an opposite effect in Kodiak. Handcuffed by this requirement and limited "boat" training opportunities Kodiak is forced to "load the bus" with multiple FM's when a boat hoisting flight is available. This action limits each FM to 2 or 4 hoist each event vs the 10–15 he/she would get if they were on the flight alone. This point is confirmed by an ALMIS "Annual Hoists per FM" report (Encl: 1). Kodiak FM's averaged 18.1 training hoists per year with a fleet average 36.1 hoists per FM per year. 4.One way to correct this issue would be a 3710.1 policy change that would allow both Rescues Swimmer (RS) and land hoists to count towards the 90–day hoist requirement. This decision requires the FM to route a memo through their chain of command in order to receive permission from the CO to continue flying and receive their required proficiency training. Mccandless : The Story Of Mccandless By Jon Krakauer The story of McCandless may leave some people with many questions, but for me, I feel like everything I learned about the man just from the story of "death of an Innocent" by Jon Krakauer makes sense. The story of Chris involved leaving unexpectedly, very random and spontaneous. 24–year–old Chris left everything behind after he graduated from Emory University and received his bachelor's degree in history/anthropology. He gave all his money to charity and then was never to be seen by his family again. He traveled through some of the lower 48 states, and finally made his way up to Alaska. This was part of his plan to live off the land, and be just free. He ran into an electrician named James Gallien who picked him while hitch hiking right out of Fairbanks, AK. The story with James Gallien is a large portion of this experience of Chris' because he told Gallien what he had in mind. Gallien tried to talk some sense into Chris before his journey, Chris assured him "I won't run into anything I can't deal with on my own." This quote goes to show what kind of personality and attitude the man had. James Gallien was the last man Chris talked to before his death. Krakauer portrays Chris's personality being very confident, careless yet at peace and venturesome vibe; I couldn't agree more to what I think of his personality. I believe this story of Chris is very important for people to learn and hear about. This man, Chris, made history because not a lot of people do this every day. The ... The purpose is to basically take an ultrasound of the contiguous United States to understand the past and possibly the future of what goes on underneath the surface. Our current picture is mostly blurry, full of educated guesses and theories. By capturing all the sounds underneath and on the earth's surface, a 3D picture will emerge that will clear the picture for us dramatically. We will be able to see what goes on underground all the way to where the mantle touches the core, maybe even further (Courtland, 2009). The project consists of 400 seismometers that are buried underground in a remote, quiet place for 2 years, power by the sun. The seismological readings are continuously being relayed by satellite to a center in Seattle. These seismometers are about 70 kilometers apart. After 2 years, they get pulled and buried again more eastward eventually reading the entire contiguous states. After many years, we get have a clear picture of what goes on underneath. A total of 1624 sites are planned (Courtland, 2009). 2004 in California was the beginning of the project. During the writing of Courtland's article, it was covering the Rocky Mountains.
