3. Experiment #1: Does it have
cells?
We made a wet mount slide with our
unknown and looked at it under the
microscope
We could not discern any signs of cells
We also made a dry slide of just our
unknown and we took this picture:
4. Experiment #2 and 3 : Does it
adapt? Does it develop?
We tested this question by putting our
unknown in freshwater, saltwater, and soil.
We also made a constant.
The saltwater and freshwater were for
testing if our unknown was a plant,
animal, or fungi
The soil was for testing if it was a plant/ if it
responded to the soil.
5. Experiment # 4: Does it
produce CO2?
We put our unknown in a vial with some water
and a few drops of bromothymol blue.
We also made a constant by putting
bromothymol blue in a vial without the
unknown.
The purpose of this experiment was to test if
the unknown made energy (every organism
that makes energy produes trace amounts of
CO2)
6. Results
In Experiment 1, we found no trace of
cells. We found cube shaped things that
did not resemble animal or plant cells
In Experiment 2 and 3, we saw no change
or response to the different environments
In Experiment 4, we found that both vials
remained blue and produced no CO2
7. Conclusion
Based on our results from our experiments,
we have concluded that our organism is
not alive.
We were unable to test whether our
organism reproduced or not.
