Career Goals Essay
Career Goals
Over the past few decades, people have drastically changed the way they choose their career. Times
have changed a great deal, and people no longer feel forced into a certain profession. People are
now given endless choices and possibilities, and it is up to them to decide what they want to do the
rest of their lives. When facing these important decisions, it is very easy to become confused. I once
was very uncertain about any career goals I may have had, but now, I am more sure of the direction
my life is going.
When I was young, I never really knew what I wanted to become when I got older, but I always had
very high aspirations for myself. I always thought that I would become either a doctor or a ... Show

I performed in depth research to get all of the necessary information about this profession. The more
I found out about it, the more persuasive it became. Being a pilot pays very well, but requires good
physical health and a decent amount of money invested into the training. I have always had very
poor eyesight, which would limit the career choices I would have in this field. While I still dream of
flying my own airplane to this day, I have decided to wait until my other priorities and goals are
accomplished.
Many factors came into play when I decided to give up on becoming an architect. I have always
been amazed by creative, well–built structures. I have been to many extraordinary buildings
designed by the renowned Frank Lloyd Wright. After doing extensive research on this particular
field, I found out that they are paid very well. However, on the other hand, one must build their
name up before given the chance to build revolutionary structures. Also, many years of college are
required before one can be a very well respected architect. In general, this career choice seemed like
a gamble, as well as an aggravation.
After going over all of the options that have been placed before me, I have finally decided to pursue
a career in computers. I have been raised in the era when computers were making their first
appearance in people's homes. When I was a very small child, I started exploring the

The Life Of My Life
Here I am now, standing under these lights, I hear a thunderous applause, my heart is beating fast.
Everyone is looking at me with a smile on the face. I can see my parents sitting in the front seats
looking at me so proudly. They are glad telling other people that I am their daughter. After this hard
time, I can finally speak like a normal person, not only that, and now my words can reach people's
hearts, change lives and bring hope to others who their lives turned into darkness so suddenly as
what happened to me. I was an average student with no difficulties at all. I had many friends and
enjoyed my life to the fullest. Everything was going well until we moved to another city. Although I
would really miss my teachers and friends, I was excited to go to a new place as it was the first time
moving away from our town. One day, my mother was so busy unpacking our things in the new
house. She asked me to go and buy some groceries from the nearby market. It was too calm and
peaceful outside, but when I was about to reach the market, a car came out of nowhere with a very
high speed. I was shocked. In an instant, I found myself lying on the ground. I could not move an
inch of my body. I was only staring at the sky flabbergasted. I did not know what was happening,
and my mind was blank. The people were gathering around me. Gradually, all the colors were
fainting, and I drown into a deep darkness. A week passed after the

Analysis Of ' The Unforgiven I '
Metallica is a heavy metal band that began in 1981. While the last song released by the band was in
2008, the group is still widely popular. Perhaps the most popular songs are the "The Unforgiven"
trilogy. "The Unforgiven I" is one of Metallica's most popular singles, behind Enter Sandman which
is on the same album. Metallica's lead singer James Hetfield wrote the three songs about his life
experiences, which is different from most of Metallica's work. The majority of Metallica's hits
promote individuality and non–conformism (Nys 41). This trilogy of songs however is a story of
heartbreak. They tell an overwhelmingly emotional story of resentment towards those who tried to
control him (Irwin 7). James wrote these songs to pour out his emotions and express how he felt.
Hetfield was born into a deeply religious family. His mother was a Christian, and she believed
heavily that if one is meant to be healed, God will heal that person ("Ten things You May Not Know
about James Hetfield"). As a result of this belief, when she was diagnosed with cancer, she did not
seek medical help. She waited for God to heal her. Unfortunately, after waiting for God to heal her,
she did not beat cancer and she died. This event fueled "The Unforgiven" trilogy and led to another
work, "The God that Failed." "The Unforgiven I" speaks about James's parents and how he felt
during his childhood. "The Unforgiven II" speaks about love and betrayal. "The Unforgiven III"
speaks about forgiveness and

Case Analysis: Love After Lockup
Garrett was convicted of burglary, grand theft and several other counts for which he was sentenced
to seven years in prison. During his stay, Joanna reached out to him via letter after confessing to
have drank too much Moscato one night and began looking through websites to talk with inmates.
She stated his mugshot was very attractive which drove her to communicate with him. They had
been in a relationship for six years while he was incarcerated and the day he was released, she
openly asked when they were going to get married and that she expected a solitaire, single carat

Specially, they wanted to avoid "mass–murderers" (insert citation) thus setting their degree of
violent offenders' standards quite low. In the show, they use men and women offenders whom their
offenses range from heroin distribution to armed robbery with several counts in–between. These
inmates were specifically chosen because they displayed high rates of change probability, meaning
while they were incarcerated, they showed outwardly promising chances of reintegrating back into
society (insert citation). While that's always the goal, recidivism rates are regularly increasing. In
2017 the U.S Sentencing Commission recorded that out of the over 24,500 former inmates, there
was a 49.3% chance of re–offense within eight years (insert citation). Throughout the first season of
"Love After Lockup" they make sure to show the rigor of reintegrating back into the 'free–world' but
it must be known that these former inmates were carefully selected to be on the show because they

I Am My Own Villain And Procrastination
It's a race to the finish line in a typical workday in my world, and that finish line is what I label to be
the time clock. I have allowed this small, compact technology device that is screwed into the
concrete wall, to control my life Monday through Friday. I know without a doubt, that if I punch that
small button on time, the rest of my day is guaranteed to be smooth sailing. You see, I'm not a
person that wakes up refreshed, smelling the Folders coffee in the morning, while birds are singing
beautifully to me. I purposely pile on the stress and it creates this anxiety in my life, mainly in the
mornings while racing to get ready and drive to work. I have no understanding to why I do this to
myself, but I am my own villain and procrastination is my toxic poison. There are many people that
have morning routines that they follow while getting ready, but me, I do whatever I want, when I
want, and because of that, my morning time is limited. Some days I do not have time to pack a
lunch, or even take our two dogs out to pee. Since my husband works third shift, I depend on him to
come home and do it for me. Making the first move to get out of bed is always the toughest, plus
getting ready for work is a preparation from hell. Then, I have to hustle and bustle, and drive like a
mad woman to get to work on time. Every morning, my annoying alarm clock goes off at 7:30, but I
turn it off and roll back over to knock out some more snooze time. Sometimes I'll decide to get up

Fox News Bias
"Halloween is a liberal holiday because we're teaching our children to beg for something for
free...we're teaching kids to knock on other people doors and ask for handouts." Sean Hannity from
Fox News said in October of 2007. Fox News has been the mainstream, go–to news station for
years. The popular news station gained the trust of the public by its credibility and ability to spread
news fast and efficiently. Now, in the twenty first century, people are questioning the credibility of
Fox News and if they are using personal biases to present stories and segments. Fox News presents
information of conservative views, good ol' fashion American Traditions, and creating heroic
personas of American figures through glory bias.
Conservative views can be visible on all platforms of Fox News media. Topics that were under the
'Trending in opinions' tab on FoxNews.com, as of January 2, 2015 at 1:34p.m, were the following
"Obamas budget: Taxing Grandma to fund the AFL–CIO, Free community college? For Obama's
plan to succeed business must be part of the equation, Obamas housing recovery plan could bring
another great recession, Mitt Romney was right: To win in 2016, here's what republicans must do
now" All of the 'trending opinions' on fox news are biased towards glorifying the republican; a more
conservative party, and making the democratic party out as fools. There has and will always be a
divide on conservative versus liberal ideologies, there is nothing we can change about that.

My Best Friend
This is the story of my high school best friend and me, and how our lives took different paths
regardless of what we thought and what we assumed. My friend and I met in a unique way. At that
time, I was working for my dad and needed a helper for the job I was performing. I, first told
another friend about the job opportunity, which he agreed to take, but on the first day of work he had
already changed his mind about working with me and asked another of his friends to take his place.
This is how I met the guy that would later turn into my best–friend in my high school years. His
name was Albert, he was a year younger than I was, but he talked like if he were five years older
than I was; he sounded convincing, and I had no reason to doubt him. I began to build an association
of him with a guy that had been schooled by life, he would always have something to say about
everything, it was like if in his short life span he had gone through mayor life lessons that he felt
open to share with newbies like me. As time continued to pass, our relationship started growing, as
well as my suspicions to everything he would tell me; I soon learned that he would probably make a
great writer, due to his immense imagination. I would just listen to him and ask questions to which
he would always have answers to. "Should I ask Bianca on a date, or just continue with the
friendship we have?" I would ask, "Take her on a date, but don't rush it," he would reply. "But, do I
go for a kiss, or should I

Jillian Research Paper
"Awe you look so cute!" Jillian exclaims nearly every day when she sees me walk out of my room to
leave for school in the mornings. "Cute" is a word Jillian, or Jilly, as I call her, uses to describe
nearly everything in her world. Jillian always tries her hardest to make sure she's nice to everyone,
and strives to make them feel good about themselves. Many words can be used to describe Jillian,
but the most accurate words to describe her is kind hearted. Jillian Rose Pratt is the best older sister
anyone could ever ask for. In a year I'll be helping her pack her bags for college. I'll no longer have

Her favorite outfits usually consist of athletic leggings paired with a fitted shirt underneath a baggy
hoodie or a stylish windbreaker. Jillian's hair always looks like she just came from the beach, and
has a light brown hue with streaks of honey mingling with the brown. If looks could kill, everyone
in Jillian's path would be dead. Jilly's resting face looks like she hates everyone and everything, so
people are generally fearful when they first see her. Once people get over their fear of Jillian's
natural face, they realize she couldn't hurt a fly. Jillian is always looking for ways to help me. One of
the biggest ways she's helped me is by introducing me to the youth ministry at Oak Bridge. When I
think of Jillian, church is one of the first things to come to my mind. Going to The Edge, which is
the name of our ministry, with Jillian is the thing that I look forward to every week. Looking over in
the middle of a song and seeing her smiling face as she sings her praises lights me up. When I'm

Example Of Personal Narrative Essay
Croatia. Summer 2015. I am sitting in the back of a stranger's car on the way to a cemetery. A small
girl in a yellow tutu reaches into her white sparkly purse on the seat between us and pulls out a
seemingly endless group of bobble head pets. We do not speak each other's language so we
communicate through hand signals while she tries to teach me the alphabet in Croatian. She laughs
at my funny pronunciation, and I smile at her enthusiasm for spelling every passing sign. Despite
originally being in Croatia to participate in a conference in Zagreb, this weekend I was traveling

a desire to understand speechwriting; from John Colville's The Fringes of Power: 10 Downing Street

which has lead me to stand on the stairs of St. Martin in the Fields, to engage with scholars in
Eastern Europe, to study British Politics in the UK, to stand beneath the water tower in Vukovar, and
to work with the handwritten copies of speeches of Tennessee Congressmen. As an individual who

these experiences that helped me to develop a voice. It has been through my research as a Baker

they are never seen again. People who work on the bus–box are the ones who transfer the new
people to their new partners or homes.
Evaluation:
This is a very extravagant book. Agenda 21 is a fiction but it does not mean it will stay
that way. The book describes a world that is run by a sadistic government, Republic, who gets
what he wants. He sugar coats his speeches to make them sound like it's a plan to only help the
environment and our future selves. The book deeply describes how revolting the world would be
and how people will be living in such repulsive urban houses.
After reading this book, I look at our world differently. I am gratified by what we have
and who we choose to be with, whether it's friends, family, or a significant other. If local
governments got their way, we would not be able to have our children, significant other, or family
with us. You never know when you would be transferred to a different house or a different location

Dear Theresa, Really? 60!? Wow I can remeber when you were 30yrs old and I was 20 yrs old and
me teasing you for being SO much older than me, of course you always looked so much younger
than me. I met Theresa in the fall of 1987. We were sitting somewhat close to each other in a
business class at NMSU when I asked Theresa a question( "do you want to go to the George Strait
concert'?) , little did I know that would lead to a life long friendship. During my college years
Theresa was such a source of motivation when I just didn't think I had what it took to complete an
accounting assignment she was by my side helping through the process. She was a source of
wisdom, many times she would say " Things happen for a reason and they always turn out for the

Descriptive Essay : My Hawaiian Beach Day

My Hawaiian Beach Day
As I stepped onto the fiery sand of Ko'Olina Beach, I couldn't help but look around and take in all
the beautiful scenery. The exquisite green–blue water was the clearest and most elegant I'd seen. I
couldn't believe I was actually here for the first time, and I was ten years old. My whole family–
Mom, Dad, Caleb, Luke, Simon, and I were there.
As soon as we got to the beach, we set up our area by the water. Our Marriott hotel was right behind
the beach, so it was very convenient. After we finished setting up, I went into the cooler and snacked
on some Lays Sour Cream and Onion chips. "You up to toss a frisbee, Caleb?" I ask my older
brother.

"Seven to zero, boys! That's what I like to see!"
They drove down and scored, topping it off when Jason made a nice throw to Caleb and he caught it.
We kept on playing for a while, both my team and theirs making some great play, including Hope
getting an interception. It was fun playing, but after a while everybody was getting tired. We played
a couple more minutes and then we stopped. After that we all went to play in the beautiful water.
When I stepped in, the water felt so refreshing on my feet with the hot sun pounding on the rest of
my body. I dove in and started swimming around. The waves were fairly small, so I couldn't go
diving into them like I could in Santa Cruz. I still loved the small current rippling around my feet,
almost tickling them in a mischievous way.
"Caleb, Isaac, Luke, Simon, lunchtime," my mom interrupted my thoughts. "It's sandwiches and
chips, with some Oreos!" At the sound of Oreos, we all got out of the water and came over for
lunch.
I devoured my delicious sandwich in about three bites. I then took two Oreos and ate those, taking
my time and making the sweet flavor last. After that I took some Doritos and munched them down
with crunching sounds.
Before long, almost everybody had finished eating, and I grabbed a frisbee and threw it at Nathan.
"Heads up, Nathan! Catch!" He turned and snagged it, and threw it back to me. I then flicked it to
Andrea. "Catch, Andrea!"
She caught it and chucked it to Gio, who threw it to

Target Corporation's Dealing with a Data Security Breach
In 2013, Target Corp., the company that prides itself on offering quality, upscale, and trendy
merchandise at lower costs, had anticipated a historic year. However, after purchasing Canadian
retailer Zellers' 273 locations and finally executing plans to expand outside the United States, both
company and stockholder optimism vanished. In late 2013, news of a massive data breach affecting
nearly 110 million consumers turned out devastatingly bad numbers in the fourth quarter–some
experts even calling it the second largest retail cyber–attack in history. As the holiday season
approached, analysts had expected Target's earnings to be flat compared to the previous year, 2012,
when the Minneapolis–based retailer posted fourth–quarter earnings at $921 million. However, after
news of the breach and its ongoing investigation became public, many consumers, uncertain about
the extent of the breach, chose to shop with Target's competitors during the holidays. Target's best
public relations efforts could not completely ease consumer concerns. Sales in the last week of the
holiday season fell by nearly 4 percent, compared to other retailers, which devastated the
traditionally strong retailer as holiday sales account for 20 to 40 percent of annual sales. Target
ended the quarter with $520 million in earnings, down almost 45 percent from 2012. Breaking News

Fighting Without Knowledge Will Hurt Essay
In this era of information overload, our brains are bombarded by so many different news outlets it
can be difficult to choose which channel you want to watch. With all the accusations of liberal or
conservative bias dominating the feuds between the cable news channels, it would be easiest to
choose the channel that we believe best fits our own ideological views. When you look at MSNBC
and Fox News the ideologies seem to be completely opposite, but they have some similarities. Both
are accused of having either a liberal or a conservative bias and it is not very difficult to tell which
side the outlet leans toward, because of their constant bickering back and forth.

To some this seems absurd, but it is what his base group wants to hear. Whereas on the other side,
you have pundits like Ed Schultz who never criticize the current president, no matter what follies he
may commit, he only demonizes the previous one, again playing to the beliefs of his following. It is
the constant bickering between the people of opposing political ideologies that make the news
difficult for the common man to take with a grain of salt.
Beck often uses what seem to be scare tactics to get of his points across; whereas Schultz is more
likely to give you his own opinion mixed in with some facts to make it all seem completely true.
Neither method is successful in trying to create a balanced news outlet. In fact, the opinions of each
side are grounded so far in the left or right that the middle is impossible to find. I purpose that Beck
should visit MSNBC for a time, while Schultz takes a turn at FNC. Even though the notion of these
dyed in the wool party supporters walking in the shoes of their polar opposites may seem absurd, but
I believe that it would tone both of them down. I hope that it would give each a reality check and it
would bring much needed balance to the cable channels. If the hosts were open to other people's
opinions, no matter how different they were from their own, it would make the American people feel
more trusting toward news people in general and give both extremes a sense of

Why Is Pina Bausch Used To Dance?
The idea of water being thrown in with dancing makes it more fun and wet. That is why this piece of
work is created so that people could enjoy what they see. "Vollmond" is a masterpiece that was
choreographed by Pina Bausch. The term, "Vollmond," means "Full

of people dancing in water and having fun while doing it. The setting of this scene is on stage with a
dark atmosphere, a monumental rock in the middle, and a pool of water on the floor.

Reflection Paper
Everyone at some point in their life has had the dream where they are falling, but they never actually
hit the ground. This dream is symbolic of life. Regardless of how far you fall you never hit the
ground. A friend of mine, currently in pharmacy school, confides in me about how he wishes that he
had done things my way, the right way as he calls it. Nevertheless, I did not grasp what he meant so
one day, I implored him to explain. According to him, the "right," way is by not failing classes the
first time, finishing college in 4 years, and be smart about taking the MCAT. Essentially, not
screwing up the first time, so you can continue with your goals the first time around instead of
getting older and wasting time. While my friend may have been right in some aspects, my personal
experiences have taught me that there really is no right way. However, life does not ultimately work
out the way one imagines. You do fail, you do break down, you are frightened and you learn to get
up regardless of the circumstances. This life lesson has been instilled into me for the past five years
from my experiences that also lead me to want to become a doctor. In my teenage years, I
volunteered with a nursing and later with Hospice Advantage where I mainly socialized and helped
the nurses with activities for the residents. Talking to the elderly you learn to not only appreciate the

Poltergeist II: The Other Side
It took four years to come out with a sequel to the original Poltergeist. In those four years, they had
plenty of time to come up with some ideas and the end result of Director Brian Gibson's (taking over
directorial duties from Tobe Hooper) Poltergeist II: The Other Side is a mashup of rehashed ideas
and some truly creepy scenes, thanks in part to Julian Beck's portrayal of Reverend Kane and H.R.
Giger's conceptual ideas for the ghosts/demons. It might not be as great as the first flick, but the film
is fun enough to check out, and what better way to check it out then with Scream Factory's

The Rise and Fall of Jimmy Hoffa Essay
The Rise and Fall of Jimmy Hoffa
James Riddle Hoffa greatly changed the way America looked at unions and their members. Hoffa
rose from the single parent teachings of his mom to an independent man who would fight for his
people. Gaining experience from age seven in defending himself, and gaining leadership experience
by leading a warehouse strike at age seventeen, Hoffa was destined to be a fighter. Losing was not in
his genes and some may believe losing was not in his vocabulary. Hoffa would let nothing stand in
his way from achieving a goal he had set for himself. This determination and perseverance allowed
Hoffa to gain the respect and admiration of not only his members, but also the general public.

The Conference linked Teamsters in twenty–three states to form a more cohesive union. Finally in
1952 Hoffa became vice president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
Hoffa's unionism originated from his job as a clerk at Kreoger's Warehouse. Fighting for the
individual rights of himself and his coworkers, Hoffa organized a strike against the night manager.
The timing of Hoffa's strike was impeccable. The night manager, not wanting to spoil the precious
strawberries, agreed instantaneously to the demands of the organizers. After negotiating a raise,
better working conditions, and more stable pay, Hoffa began his life as a worker's man.
Hoffa worked hard at any job he had at hand. Fighting for the workers of Kroger's warehouse, Hoffa
caught the eye of the Teamster brass. They placed Hoffa on the Detroit Joint Council of Teamsters.
His main role was to organize and effectively execute strikes so that the Teamsters were victorious.
Hoffa participated in many strikes throughout Detroit. His presence was so detrimental to
management's cause that the police once arrested him eighteen times within twenty–four hours
because he displayed himself at a strike. On the streets, Hoffa's name was never mentioned as a
possible organizer who could be shook down; management's term for harassing labor organizers into

Growing Store Strategy Is A Winning Strategy
Growing store strategy is a partial winning strategy. This is because, opening new stores every year
within U. S is met with a great success for growth, but opening 124 stores at once in a Canadian
market not built with Target 's well–known layout was a complete failure. Also, the remodeling and
the new layout to carry extended grocery and other assortments are a great success.
We are on the internet and mobile era, speed, reliability, and mobility plays a crucial part in meeting
customer expectations. Obviously, technology plays a big part in the way we live and work. The
Target corporate strategy of focusing the use of technology and a seamless mobile, online and

Target Technology is providing its customers a shopping experience that is simple, accessible
anytime and anywhere is a winning strategy and puts Target Corporation at par, if not ahead of its
competitors (Bullseye View, 2015). With many physical stores present with Wi–Fi, browse and store

shoppers.
The customer loyalty and sales increased to 20% in 2013, with the propriety RED card which
provides an additional discount. With the data breach that compromised millions of credit cards in
2013 becoming a major nightmare for Target and the credit card sales became significantly weak.

Love And Love : The Influence Of Love
Destiny, it's an odd concept to wrap your head around. Often its questioned if one creates it or is it
already written. After meeting this young lady, her life merged with mine in a way that reassured
this belief. Ten years ago, I met her for the first time as she chased down the school bus making it
just in time to walk on with a head full of long black hair and a puffy gold jacket that reminded me
of the 80's. Pretending to look carelessly out the divided bus window, I would secretly wish she
would come sit next to me. When we finally became friends it was dreamlike, I didn't know how to
react it was like we were raised on different timescales, she was a woman and I still in my awkward
adolescent phase. As time went on we would talked, glanced at one another and both wanted one
another, somehow it never worked out. Five years went by, school was behind us, but the thought of
being with her still shadowed my mind. Finally, through the marvelous invention of social media, I
found her and we connected. That connection broke me in positive and negative ways, but ended up
inspiring personal growth through love and heartbreak.
At first, love came easy. There were endless nights on the phone until the sun came up. Since we
lived in the same neighborhood seeing one another became an addiction. Watching her stay up all
night studying for exams, inspired me to go back to school. Here she was working to go to medical
school, little did she know I was a high school dropout.

Analysis Of Miracle By Tope Folarin
To many, miracles are a very real phenomenon, and many people adamantly believe that miracles
are performed every day. While there are many interpretations of what a miracle may be, the short
story "Miracle," by Tope Folarin, puts the concept in a distinct context. The story details the
experience of a boy being a skeptical participant in a "miracle" in a Nigerian church. The story is
multifaceted in that it addresses multiple power dynamics using various details, however, the main
conflict is between the traditional beliefs of the older church members and the skepticism of the
youth. Ultimately, Folarin argues that miracles are not supernatural events that instantly change
lives, rather they are circumstantial and are realized over time as a result of perseverance. To do so,
Folarin uses literary devices such as characterization of the members of the church, situational irony,
and setting. "Miracle" details the story of a boy being part of a miracle in a Nigerian church. He
begins by describing certain rituals of the church, such as a prayer and performing Nigerian songs.
Eventually, a short, blind old man described as a "prophet" reaches the pulpit. Most people at the
church were Nigerian immigrants looking for miracles, and believed he could perform them. He
promises the members of the church that they will receive "powerful blessings" so long as they are
faithful (Folarin 75). He then calls the boy to the pulpit, declaring that he will cure his sight so that
he will

Ulrich Beck World Risk Society
Ulrich beck :world risk society
What is "risk society" and how did it emerge?
"Risk society" means that we live in a world out of control. There is nothing certain but uncertainty.
But let's go into details. The term "risk" has two radically different meanings. It applies in the first
place to a world governed entirely by the laws of probability, in which everything is measurable and
calculable. But the word is also commonly used to refer to non–quantitative uncertainties, to "risks
that cannot be known." When I speak about "risk society," it is in this latter sense of manufactured
uncertainties. These "true" uncertainties, enforced by rapid technological innovations and
accelerated societal responses, are creating a fundamentally new ... Show more content on

The other side of the admitted presence of danger is the failure of the institutions that derive their
authority from their purported mastery of such danger. In this way, the "social birth" of a global
danger is as much unlikely as it is a dramatic, indeed traumatic, world–shattering one. In the
experience of shock radiated by the mass media, it becomes recognizable; to quote Goya: the
slumber of reason creates monsters.
Fear of various dangers, hazards, and the unknown have constituted the most basic of human
experiences, drives, emotions, etc. In your book Risk Society, you argue that "the driving force in
the class society can be summarized in the phrase: I am hungry! The movement set in motion by the
risk society, on the other hand, is expressed in the statement: I am afraid! The commonality of
anxiety takes the place of the commonality of need." Could you say more about fear as a driving
force in risk society? How does fear in a risk society differ from its formulations in other kinds of
societies––for example, feudal–agrarian societies? Do you agree with Anthony Giddens statement
that "Our age is not more dangerous––not more risky––than those of earlier generations, but the
balance of risks and dangers has shifted." (1)
We don't know if we live in a world any more risky than those of earlier generations. It is not the
quantity of risk, but the quality of control or––to be more precise––the known

Descriptive Essay About My Wife
My wife is a lovely woman who is surrounded by people who love her, has food to eat, clothes to
wear, and a roof over her head, but often spends her time wondering about the things she doesn't
have in life. These things being jewelry, fancy clothes, lots of money, and an overall luxurious life
style. I want to give her all these things and give her a chance to go out. So I spent a very long time
working to get an invitation to The Minister of Education and Mme Georges evening reception. One
day I finally received the invitation and rushed home.
I walked inside my home, closed the door behind me,took off my coat and hung it up, walked into
the kitchen to see my wife, envelope in hand with excitement. I walk up to my wife and greet her, I
hand her the envelope and she begins to tear it open. I watch and listen as she pulls out the envelope
and begins reading it, when she's done I expect to see her face lit up with happiness but am
disappointed when I see her expression change drastically. She seems angry and sad at the same
time. Its complete silence as she throws the letter onto the table. I'm about to ask if she is ok when
she stops me and murmurs the words "What good is that to me?"
I am almost at a lost of words and confused. "But, my dear, I thought you would be thrilled to death.
You never get a chance to go out, and this is a real affair, a wonderful one! I had an awful time

Information Management: My Perspective
When people talk about information management, what is the first thing that comes in their mind? A
person might say that information management be situated as an individual or organisation
managing information. But, do they know that there is more than just managing information in the
information field? However, just like everybody else, the same thought has comes across my mind
when I first heard of the words information management a few years ago. But the thought has

performance of a person, organisation and such. For instance, when there is an excessive

and it will be forgettable in a short term. And if the information may be useful to the society or a
person, it would be a waste if the information is not being acknowledged and being managed
correctly. Who knew, the information might be giving the society or a person a big and positive
impact on their life. And if any organisation, company or institutions did not manage their
information or data correctly, it might increase the risk of their private or confidential information
being exposed to public or stolen by irresponsible parties. In addition, as being said before, if the
information not being managed correctly, it may affect the productivity of a person or organisation,
as we can see, if the information is not being kept systematically, it will take up a lot of time if we

Ethical issues and decision
As a project manager, the most important rule I have to obey is to be honest.
Obviously, I will not go with the dishonest suggestion provided by my team member. If we send a

their patients even after our warnings. Basically, I need to consider our company's reputation. If the

reputation and ethics towards patients, but also the responsibility we have to take if some serious
results appear. Our company may have to face lawsuit and punished according to the contract. Also,

Overview Summary
The research report I will be discussing in this assignment is about Test Driven Development
(TDD). One of biggest and most important part of writing a software in any programming language.
It is a way developers work to reduce time on debugging their software. TDD is one of the newest
and most efficient methods for programmers and it is having an ongoing popularity growth every
year. This assignment will be talking about, what TDD is? How it is implemented in Information
Technology (IT) environment, why testing is important and how it can financially effect developers.
We will have a closer look on the history side of TDD, how it was created, who created it and where
did the TDD method pop up from. Also answer why use TDD when there are other methods out
there? Every good thing or way have a bad side too, so does TDD and that will be covered later on
this research report. We will compare TDD with some other methods and see which one stands out
more and what makes them so different from each other.
What is Test Driven Development?

Communicating the Change The Target Corporation has undergone many changes due to the 2013
security breach where hackers stole personal information from credit and debit cards of at least 70
million customers. Target sales and reputation has dropped from this instance, thus eliciting changes
in their security systems, changes in management, and a few policy changes in handling customer
information. With the public eye on the corporation's handling of the situation, Target has been
communicating these changes through various means. The changes they needed to communicate
were informing customers of the security breach, addressing the bad press coverage to shareholders,

In a public statement regarding employee downsizing, they stated: "Target continually assesses our
operating model to ensure we are well–positioned to adapt to changing business needs. ... We
believe these decisions, while difficult, are the right actions as we continue to focus on transforming
our business. We will continue to invest in key business areas to strengthen our ability to compete
and thrive well into the future," Hammerand et al., 2014). Although they also stated that the
downsizing is in no way a result from the data breach, it can be considered an indirect result of
transforming the business, which was a result of the breach. It is known that Target informed their
employees of the downsizing pursuant to media publicity, however it does not state which form of
communication was used. I have created a sample e–mail notification to employees regarding this
issue (See Target Downsizing Email). The statement above was my inspiration, as it describes the
corporation's views on the issue, although vaguely. I would have explained in more detail the
reasons and steps taken for the layoffs so that the employees can understand the rationale behind the
move.
Another stakeholder within the Target Corporation is its shareholders. They, too, have been affected
by the security breach, in that the press coverage

Extreme Programming Up Front Design Methodologies Essay
Extreme Programming (XP) has spent the past decades under perpetual scrutiny by software
developers fixated on up front design methodologies. The idea behind this is simple: if you want to
make sure something is well built, you must design it well first, then put it together using reliable
tools. For objects such as houses, cars, or tables, of which the design evolves gradually throughout
decades, the methods of up front design suffice. Computer programs, on the other hand, are products
often made for an industry that evolves at higher rates than any other. For this type of environment,
more dynamic methods are required, which is why XP suits as a viable candidate. How design is
altered from the traditional up front design method will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

"reveals all the intentions", on the other hand, makes sense under the following train of thought: if
something is simple, it is easy to understand, and therefore all or most intentions are clear to the
observer. "does not have duplicated code" seems to make things easy to understand, but may not
necessarily simplify a program. Finally, "has the fewest number of classes or methods" seems to be
the most pertinent to the concept of simplicity. If a system consists of less functional elements than
another one but holds the same product, it could be considered simpler. Following this definition, a
system that contains the least amount of functional elements than any other, but holds the same
product, could be considered simplest. Other than a few definitions of simplicity, Fowler mentions
YAGNI, an acronym he claims is one of the "...greatest rallying cries in XP..." (Fowler). It stands for
"You Aren't Going to Need it" (Fowler). The idea is summed up by Fowler as a method to only
program what is currently needed for the project. This is supposed to allow easy changes to be made
when needed. An example: consider the scenario where a calculator is being programmed. Its design
incorporates 'addition' and 'multiplication'. Whilst implementing 'addition', it may seem logical to
add some of the 'multiplication' features to reduce the amount of future work. Suddenly the client
decides to replace 'multiplication' with 'division'. 'multiplication' now has to be removed or

My Experience In College Students, Being A College Student
Being a college student who is taking 18 credits this semester as well as working 15 hours a week, I
experience multiple stressors every week that I try my best to deal with. Two stressors I have dealt
with the past two weeks are struggling to manage my time and arguing with my boyfriend. The past
two weeks I had a lot of assignments due as well as a major test and a quiz. I realized it was a
stressor when I got assigned our extra credit paper that was due the day before my major exam. I
was already thinking of how I was going to spend the rest of the week and the weekend to study for
my exam and quiz, prepare for my presentation, keep up with the chapters my classes are reviewing,
and work. When we got assigned the extra credit paper, I panicked a little and realized trying to
figure out how to fit all of it into my schedule was a stressor. I noticed that my heart rate slightly
increased from panicking a little and I got antsy, as in I could not sit still. I have confronted
managing my time before, when I first got my job this semester. Like I said, I am taking 18 credits,
so adding working 15 hours a week took away a lot of study time that I had to figure out how to
make up. It actually cuts into my social life a decent amount, but I live with all of my closest friends
and study with them, so I see them a decent amount. What I typically do when I freak out about how
much stuff I have to do and how little time I have, I start to plan out my days by hour in my planner.

Ulrich Beck is a German sociologist who has elaborated a formulation of the theory of reflexive
modernization, which is characterized by two theses: risk thesis and individualization thesis. Beck's
thesis in Germany has been understood as a bal–ance of these two theses, but in Anglo–Saxon
sociology the risk thesis has been influential . For better understanding of individualization process
it's necessary to explain what is new and specific in this process. The new is that something that
earlier in nineteenth century was expected of a few "to lead a life of their own" to–day is demanded
by more and more people. The new element is, first, the democ–ratization of the individualization

In the process of reflexive modernization the people are getting free from the traditions. People
living in the modernized so–cieties develop an increasing engagement with intimate and public

example: going out from the traditions and disintegration of previ–ously existing social forms as
fixed gender roles, inflexible class locations etc. . "The individual has to be understood as being "the

grandma. She felt a sense of pride and full of joy when being along her side. "I always felt her gray

Essay On My Life Experience
Each day we all experience things that are extraordinary and sometimes unforgettable. Yet it's how
we let those experiences impact us individually that makes us each unique. An experience in my life
that changed how I acted, thought, and felt was the first time I volunteered at my church during their
summer "scamp" sessions. The "scamp" sessions aimed to make the lessons correlate to things the
kids would do during summer camps. Serving at one of these session allowed the year round
volunteers to continue serving if they wanted, but also have the ability to take a vacation and enjoy
the church's service. Although life offers a multitude of life changing experiences, serving at
Mecklenburg Community Church for the first time was greatest experience because I gained
connections in my community, learned strong leadership skills and gained a desire to serve others
first. It all began when I attended my first "scamp" session and I had several opportunities for jobs
outside of the church over the summer and translating into the school year. The first time I served at
Meck I was able to meet and be introduced to three families at the church who later reached out to
me for weekly opportunities to work with their kids. In seeing the kids both in and outside of church
over the summer "scamps" I gained more insight of their lives and personalities. One specific family

Key Elements Of Cosmopolitanism
The author argues that the idea of cosmopolitanism is very deeply rooted in Western philosophy and
thought. Starting from the antics, it survived the passive medieval times and reappeared in the
modern era with improved strength. Although cosmopolitanism represents constantly present answer
to important social questions posed in different times, its presence and eminence changed due to and
in relation to the character of certain historical period. Cosmopolitan idea was introduced to
philosophy by Stoics, in whose writtings very sophisticated accounts of the idea can be found. In
ancient Greece's Stoics (Zeno of Citium, Hierocles) one can find the call for the creation of one

For reasons of clarity and coherence, a differentiation between cosmopolitanism as an idea, practice,
and an attitude is proposed, while the term itself may have empirical, normative and practical
meaning. The paper is continued with explaining key elements of thought of contemporary
cosmopolitan authors, namely, David Held, Kwame Appiah, Martha Nussbaum, Thomas Pogge and
Ulrich Beck. Held's cosmopolitanism is based on the premise that national state can not remain the
sole dominant level of governance in the globalized, interconnected world. That is why his works
concentrate on global governance principles and general recommendations of reform of the most
important international bodies (primarily UN). Kwame Appiah tries to approach the issue from
another perspective and, by advancing „rooted cosmopolitanism", to reconcile healthy patriotic

fruits or flowers to produce alcohol. But Daniel was the first to try fermented goats milk. He
believed his beer would have nutritive value and while you may not find his brew on the off license

Which reminds me, I was astonished to learn, that by tradition, I am supposed to bring a cheque

about this, because everyone who has ever lent Daniel money has one thing in common ... nothing!
Kim, if ever you need the house to yourself or some time apart from Daniel, just lend him some
money – you won't see him for days.
The most enjoyable best man duty is of course arranging the stag weekend. And I'm delighted to say
that it passed without incident or disaster – or at least that's what I thought until the hotel returned
my deposit, minus a £50 cleaning fee for room 27 and a complimentary plastic mattress cover. There

Elie Wiesel Diary Entries
Hello. It's been seventy years since we met, and here we are: still alive. I was ten years old, an
emaciated little girl with ragged hair. You were a soldier, and you saved me. Had I remained in the
concentration camp any longer, I would have died. Although I was there just a few months (having
been discovered a short time before the war ended), my entire family–my mother, father, and sister–
managed to perish in the flames of the crematorium. But when you stood inside the barbed wire with
me, carrying the flag that bears freedom, I knew I could not burn with them. I only survived because
you liberated me. Even though I came to America shortly after, I did not think I would be able to
find you... but seventy years later, I have. Now that I have found you, I just want to know a few
things. How did you feel when you discovered my camp? You may not have known about them
previously (since these camps were secrets to the world), so it may have shocked you. What did you
think of gas chambers, the crematoria, and the mass pits full of deceased Jews? I still remember
them; their memory bothers me no longer, though. I have not healed... one does not heal after seeing
those things. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You hesitated at first, then gave me a small piece of chocolate. My eyes lighted up, and I beamed.
You smiled, too. Why did you give me your only piece of chocolate? I know I looked horrendous,
with ribs and elbows jutting from my tight frame of skin... but you did hesitate. What caused that
hesitation? You and your fellow soldiers pitied us Jews, and we were rarely fed, so you must have
known that too much food would have made me ill. It was just chocolate. Finally, are you still
haunted by the visions of the concentration camps? The bodies dumped into mass graves, the
barracks full of poor sick and dying souls, the ashes of the ones already lost... do these things still
haunt you? These scars do not heal. I have not healed, so I suspect you have not,

Career Goals Essay

  • 1. Career Goals Essay Career Goals Over the past few decades, people have drastically changed the way they choose their career. Times have changed a great deal, and people no longer feel forced into a certain profession. People are now given endless choices and possibilities, and it is up to them to decide what they want to do the rest of their lives. When facing these important decisions, it is very easy to become confused. I once was very uncertain about any career goals I may have had, but now, I am more sure of the direction my life is going. When I was young, I never really knew what I wanted to become when I got older, but I always had very high aspirations for myself. I always thought that I would become either a doctor or a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I performed in depth research to get all of the necessary information about this profession. The more I found out about it, the more persuasive it became. Being a pilot pays very well, but requires good physical health and a decent amount of money invested into the training. I have always had very poor eyesight, which would limit the career choices I would have in this field. While I still dream of flying my own airplane to this day, I have decided to wait until my other priorities and goals are accomplished. Many factors came into play when I decided to give up on becoming an architect. I have always been amazed by creative, well–built structures. I have been to many extraordinary buildings designed by the renowned Frank Lloyd Wright. After doing extensive research on this particular field, I found out that they are paid very well. However, on the other hand, one must build their name up before given the chance to build revolutionary structures. Also, many years of college are required before one can be a very well respected architect. In general, this career choice seemed like a gamble, as well as an aggravation. After going over all of the options that have been placed before me, I have finally decided to pursue a career in computers. I have been raised in the era when computers were making their first appearance in people's homes. When I was a very small child, I started exploring the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. The Life Of My Life Here I am now, standing under these lights, I hear a thunderous applause, my heart is beating fast. Everyone is looking at me with a smile on the face. I can see my parents sitting in the front seats looking at me so proudly. They are glad telling other people that I am their daughter. After this hard time, I can finally speak like a normal person, not only that, and now my words can reach people's hearts, change lives and bring hope to others who their lives turned into darkness so suddenly as what happened to me. I was an average student with no difficulties at all. I had many friends and enjoyed my life to the fullest. Everything was going well until we moved to another city. Although I would really miss my teachers and friends, I was excited to go to a new place as it was the first time moving away from our town. One day, my mother was so busy unpacking our things in the new house. She asked me to go and buy some groceries from the nearby market. It was too calm and peaceful outside, but when I was about to reach the market, a car came out of nowhere with a very high speed. I was shocked. In an instant, I found myself lying on the ground. I could not move an inch of my body. I was only staring at the sky flabbergasted. I did not know what was happening, and my mind was blank. The people were gathering around me. Gradually, all the colors were fainting, and I drown into a deep darkness. A week passed after the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Analysis Of ' The Unforgiven I ' Metallica is a heavy metal band that began in 1981. While the last song released by the band was in 2008, the group is still widely popular. Perhaps the most popular songs are the "The Unforgiven" trilogy. "The Unforgiven I" is one of Metallica's most popular singles, behind Enter Sandman which is on the same album. Metallica's lead singer James Hetfield wrote the three songs about his life experiences, which is different from most of Metallica's work. The majority of Metallica's hits promote individuality and non–conformism (Nys 41). This trilogy of songs however is a story of heartbreak. They tell an overwhelmingly emotional story of resentment towards those who tried to control him (Irwin 7). James wrote these songs to pour out his emotions and express how he felt. Hetfield was born into a deeply religious family. His mother was a Christian, and she believed heavily that if one is meant to be healed, God will heal that person ("Ten things You May Not Know about James Hetfield"). As a result of this belief, when she was diagnosed with cancer, she did not seek medical help. She waited for God to heal her. Unfortunately, after waiting for God to heal her, she did not beat cancer and she died. This event fueled "The Unforgiven" trilogy and led to another work, "The God that Failed." "The Unforgiven I" speaks about James's parents and how he felt during his childhood. "The Unforgiven II" speaks about love and betrayal. "The Unforgiven III" speaks about forgiveness and ... • 7. Case Analysis: Love After Lockup Garrett was convicted of burglary, grand theft and several other counts for which he was sentenced to seven years in prison. During his stay, Joanna reached out to him via letter after confessing to have drank too much Moscato one night and began looking through websites to talk with inmates. She stated his mugshot was very attractive which drove her to communicate with him. They had been in a relationship for six years while he was incarcerated and the day he was released, she openly asked when they were going to get married and that she expected a solitaire, single carat diamond ring as soon as possible. "Love after Lockup" is a reality television miniseries that aired this year which follows six couples, that met online through pen pal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Specially, they wanted to avoid "mass–murderers" (insert citation) thus setting their degree of violent offenders' standards quite low. In the show, they use men and women offenders whom their offenses range from heroin distribution to armed robbery with several counts in–between. These inmates were specifically chosen because they displayed high rates of change probability, meaning while they were incarcerated, they showed outwardly promising chances of reintegrating back into society (insert citation). While that's always the goal, recidivism rates are regularly increasing. In 2017 the U.S Sentencing Commission recorded that out of the over 24,500 former inmates, there was a 49.3% chance of re–offense within eight years (insert citation). Throughout the first season of "Love After Lockup" they make sure to show the rigor of reintegrating back into the 'free–world' but it must be known that these former inmates were carefully selected to be on the show because they stood the best chance to live the picturesque Americana life with their beloved ... • 9. I Am My Own Villain And Procrastination It's a race to the finish line in a typical workday in my world, and that finish line is what I label to be the time clock. I have allowed this small, compact technology device that is screwed into the concrete wall, to control my life Monday through Friday. I know without a doubt, that if I punch that small button on time, the rest of my day is guaranteed to be smooth sailing. You see, I'm not a person that wakes up refreshed, smelling the Folders coffee in the morning, while birds are singing beautifully to me. I purposely pile on the stress and it creates this anxiety in my life, mainly in the mornings while racing to get ready and drive to work. I have no understanding to why I do this to myself, but I am my own villain and procrastination is my toxic poison. There are many people that have morning routines that they follow while getting ready, but me, I do whatever I want, when I want, and because of that, my morning time is limited. Some days I do not have time to pack a lunch, or even take our two dogs out to pee. Since my husband works third shift, I depend on him to come home and do it for me. Making the first move to get out of bed is always the toughest, plus getting ready for work is a preparation from hell. Then, I have to hustle and bustle, and drive like a mad woman to get to work on time. Every morning, my annoying alarm clock goes off at 7:30, but I turn it off and roll back over to knock out some more snooze time. Sometimes I'll decide to get up and eat ... • 11. Fox News Bias "Halloween is a liberal holiday because we're teaching our children to beg for something for free...we're teaching kids to knock on other people doors and ask for handouts." Sean Hannity from Fox News said in October of 2007. Fox News has been the mainstream, go–to news station for years. The popular news station gained the trust of the public by its credibility and ability to spread news fast and efficiently. Now, in the twenty first century, people are questioning the credibility of Fox News and if they are using personal biases to present stories and segments. Fox News presents information of conservative views, good ol' fashion American Traditions, and creating heroic personas of American figures through glory bias. Conservative views can be visible on all platforms of Fox News media. Topics that were under the 'Trending in opinions' tab on FoxNews.com, as of January 2, 2015 at 1:34p.m, were the following "Obamas budget: Taxing Grandma to fund the AFL–CIO, Free community college? For Obama's plan to succeed business must be part of the equation, Obamas housing recovery plan could bring another great recession, Mitt Romney was right: To win in 2016, here's what republicans must do now" All of the 'trending opinions' on fox news are biased towards glorifying the republican; a more conservative party, and making the democratic party out as fools. There has and will always be a divide on conservative versus liberal ideologies, there is nothing we can change about that. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. My Best Friend This is the story of my high school best friend and me, and how our lives took different paths regardless of what we thought and what we assumed. My friend and I met in a unique way. At that time, I was working for my dad and needed a helper for the job I was performing. I, first told another friend about the job opportunity, which he agreed to take, but on the first day of work he had already changed his mind about working with me and asked another of his friends to take his place. This is how I met the guy that would later turn into my best–friend in my high school years. His name was Albert, he was a year younger than I was, but he talked like if he were five years older than I was; he sounded convincing, and I had no reason to doubt him. I began to build an association of him with a guy that had been schooled by life, he would always have something to say about everything, it was like if in his short life span he had gone through mayor life lessons that he felt open to share with newbies like me. As time continued to pass, our relationship started growing, as well as my suspicions to everything he would tell me; I soon learned that he would probably make a great writer, due to his immense imagination. I would just listen to him and ask questions to which he would always have answers to. "Should I ask Bianca on a date, or just continue with the friendship we have?" I would ask, "Take her on a date, but don't rush it," he would reply. "But, do I go for a kiss, or should I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Jillian Research Paper "Awe you look so cute!" Jillian exclaims nearly every day when she sees me walk out of my room to leave for school in the mornings. "Cute" is a word Jillian, or Jilly, as I call her, uses to describe nearly everything in her world. Jillian always tries her hardest to make sure she's nice to everyone, and strives to make them feel good about themselves. Many words can be used to describe Jillian, but the most accurate words to describe her is kind hearted. Jillian Rose Pratt is the best older sister anyone could ever ask for. In a year I'll be helping her pack her bags for college. I'll no longer have my older sister who always makes even the hardest days a little brighter. I'll lose the person I turn to for the best advice I could ever imagine. When my tears fall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her favorite outfits usually consist of athletic leggings paired with a fitted shirt underneath a baggy hoodie or a stylish windbreaker. Jillian's hair always looks like she just came from the beach, and has a light brown hue with streaks of honey mingling with the brown. If looks could kill, everyone in Jillian's path would be dead. • 17. Example Of Personal Narrative Essay Croatia. Summer 2015. I am sitting in the back of a stranger's car on the way to a cemetery. A small girl in a yellow tutu reaches into her white sparkly purse on the seat between us and pulls out a seemingly endless group of bobble head pets. We do not speak each other's language so we communicate through hand signals while she tries to teach me the alphabet in Croatian. She laughs at my funny pronunciation, and I smile at her enthusiasm for spelling every passing sign. While at the University of Tennessee I have sought to take these incomplete stories and worked to fill the gaps in a journey which has lead me to stand on the stairs of St. Martin in the Fields, to engage with scholars in Eastern Europe, to study British Politics in the UK, to stand beneath the water tower in Vukovar, and to work with the handwritten copies of speeches of Tennessee Congressmen. The exquisite green–blue water was the clearest and most elegant I'd seen. I couldn't believe I was actually here for the first time, and I was ten years old. I devoured my delicious sandwich in about three bites. I then took two Oreos and ate those, taking my time and making the sweet flavor last. Target Corporation's Dealing with a Data Security Breach In 2013, Target Corp., the company that prides itself on offering quality, upscale, and trendy merchandise at lower costs, had anticipated a historic year. However, after purchasing Canadian retailer Zellers' 273 locations and finally executing plans to expand outside the United States, both company and stockholder optimism vanished. In late 2013, news of a massive data breach affecting nearly 110 million consumers turned out devastatingly bad numbers in the fourth quarter–some experts even calling it the second largest retail cyber–attack in history. As the holiday season approached, analysts had expected Target's earnings to be flat compared to the previous year, 2012, when the Minneapolis–based retailer posted fourth–quarter earnings at $921 million. However, after news of the breach and its ongoing investigation became public, many consumers, uncertain about the extent of the breach, chose to shop with Target's competitors during the holidays. Target's best public relations efforts could not completely ease consumer concerns. Sales in the last week of the holiday season fell by nearly 4 percent, compared to other retailers, which devastated the traditionally strong retailer as holiday sales account for 20 to 40 percent of annual sales. Target ended the quarter with $520 million in earnings, down almost 45 percent from 2012. When you look at MSNBC and Fox News the ideologies seem to be completely opposite, but they have some similarities. It is the constant bickering between the people of opposing political ideologies that make the news difficult for the common man to take with a grain of salt. Beck often uses what seem to be scare tactics to get of his points across; whereas Schultz is more likely to give you his own opinion mixed in with some facts to make it all seem completely true. Neither method is successful in trying to create a balanced news outlet. In fact, the opinions of each side are grounded so far in the left or right that the middle is impossible to find. Regardless of how far you fall you never hit the ground. A friend of mine, currently in pharmacy school, confides in me about how he wishes that he had done things my way, the right way as he calls it. Nevertheless, I did not grasp what he meant so one day, I implored him to explain. According to him, the "right," way is by not failing classes the first time, finishing college in 4 years, and be smart about taking the MCAT. Essentially, not screwing up the first time, so you can continue with your goals the first time around instead of getting older and wasting time. • 46. Analysis Of Miracle By Tope Folarin To many, miracles are a very real phenomenon, and many people adamantly believe that miracles are performed every day. While there are many interpretations of what a miracle may be, the short story "Miracle," by Tope Folarin, puts the concept in a distinct context. The story details the experience of a boy being a skeptical participant in a "miracle" in a Nigerian church. The story is multifaceted in that it addresses multiple power dynamics using various details, however, the main conflict is between the traditional beliefs of the older church members and the skepticism of the youth. Ultimately, Folarin argues that miracles are not supernatural events that instantly change lives, rather they are circumstantial and are realized over time as a result of perseverance. To do so, Folarin uses literary devices such as characterization of the members of the church, situational irony, and setting. "Miracle" details the story of a boy being part of a miracle in a Nigerian church. He begins by describing certain rituals of the church, such as a prayer and performing Nigerian songs. Eventually, a short, blind old man described as a "prophet" reaches the pulpit. Most people at the church were Nigerian immigrants looking for miracles, and believed he could perform them. He promises the members of the church that they will receive "powerful blessings" so long as they are faithful (Folarin 75). There is nothing certain but uncertainty. But let's go into details. The term "risk" has two radically different meanings. It applies in the first place to a world governed entirely by the laws of probability, in which everything is measurable and calculable. But the word is also commonly used to refer to non–quantitative uncertainties, to "risks that cannot be known." • 56. Ethical Issues and Decision a Making in a Healthcare... Ethical issues and decision As a project manager, the most important rule I have to obey is to be honest. Obviously, I will not go with the dishonest suggestion provided by my team member. If we send a 'demo version' to the client, I strongly believe that the hospital will apply the prognostic system to their patients even after our warnings. Basically, I need to consider our company's reputation. If the 'demo system' used by mental health care services and it causes accidents, such as misinput of patients' records, miscalculation of drug dosage. All of these results will damage our reliability, especially when they happen in hospital, where involve taking life of a human being. Imaging on of the patients is our relative, I suspect that none of us will apply the system for the 'go alive' schedule, but prefer the high quality to guarantee the smooth operation which ensures the safety of patients. I refuse to send the defective version to the mental health care services, not only because of our reputation and ethics towards patients, but also the responsibility we have to take if some serious results appear. Our company may have to face lawsuit and punished according to the contract. Also, it may pose threat to my future career. Generally, the only benefit brought by the 'demo version' is the punctual delivery, while many potential risks accompany with it. Hrm 587 Communicating the Change Athena Giokaris HRM587 Week 6 Communicating the Change The Target Corporation has undergone many changes due to the 2013 security breach where hackers stole personal information from credit and debit cards of at least 70 million customers. Target sales and reputation has dropped from this instance, thus eliciting changes in their security systems, changes in management, and a few policy changes in handling customer information. With the public eye on the corporation's handling of the situation, Target has been communicating these changes through various means. The changes they needed to communicate were informing customers of the security breach, addressing the bad press coverage to shareholders, downsizing of employees, and ... We will continue to invest in key business areas to strengthen our ability to compete and thrive well into the future," Hammerand et al., 2014). Although they also stated that the downsizing is in no way a result from the data breach, it can be considered an indirect result of transforming the business, which was a result of the breach. It is known that Target informed their employees of the downsizing pursuant to media publicity, however it does not state which form of communication was used. I have created a sample e–mail notification to employees regarding this issue (See Target Downsizing Email). The statement above was my inspiration, as it describes the corporation's views on the issue, although vaguely. • 64. Extreme Programming Up Front Design Methodologies Essay Extreme Programming (XP) has spent the past decades under perpetual scrutiny by software developers fixated on up front design methodologies. The idea behind this is simple: if you want to make sure something is well built, you must design it well first, then put it together using reliable tools. For objects such as houses, cars, or tables, of which the design evolves gradually throughout decades, the methods of up front design suffice. Computer programs, on the other hand, are products often made for an industry that evolves at higher rates than any other. For this type of environment, more dynamic methods are required, which is why XP suits as a viable candidate. How design is altered from the traditional up front design method will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "reveals all the intentions", on the other hand, makes sense under the following train of thought: if something is simple, it is easy to understand, and therefore all or most intentions are clear to the observer. "does not have duplicated code" seems to make things easy to understand, but may not necessarily simplify a program. Finally, "has the fewest number of classes or methods" seems to be the most pertinent to the concept of simplicity. If a system consists of less functional elements than another one but holds the same product, it could be considered simpler. Following this definition, a system that contains the least amount of functional elements than any other, but holds the same product, could be considered simplest. Other than a few definitions of simplicity, Fowler mentions YAGNI, an acronym he claims is one of the "...greatest rallying cries in XP..." (Fowler). It stands for "You Aren't Going to Need it" (Fowler). The idea is summed up by Fowler as a method to only program what is currently needed for the project. This is supposed to allow easy changes to be made when needed. An example: consider the scenario where a calculator is being programmed. Its design incorporates 'addition' and 'multiplication'. Whilst implementing 'addition', it may seem logical to add some of the 'multiplication' features to reduce the amount of future work. Suddenly the client decides to replace 'multiplication' with 'division'. 'multiplication' now has to be removed or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Experience In College Students, Being A College Student Being a college student who is taking 18 credits this semester as well as working 15 hours a week, I experience multiple stressors every week that I try my best to deal with. Two stressors I have dealt with the past two weeks are struggling to manage my time and arguing with my boyfriend. The past two weeks I had a lot of assignments due as well as a major test and a quiz. I realized it was a stressor when I got assigned our extra credit paper that was due the day before my major exam. I was already thinking of how I was going to spend the rest of the week and the weekend to study for my exam and quiz, prepare for my presentation, keep up with the chapters my classes are reviewing, and work. When we got assigned the extra credit paper, I panicked a little and realized trying to figure out how to fit all of it into my schedule was a stressor. I noticed that my heart rate slightly increased from panicking a little and I got antsy, as in I could not sit still. I have confronted managing my time before, when I first got my job this semester. Like I said, I am taking 18 credits, so adding working 15 hours a week took away a lot of study time that I had to figure out how to make up. It actually cuts into my social life a decent amount, but I live with all of my closest friends and study with them, so I see them a decent amount. What I typically do when I freak out about how much stuff I have to do and how little time I have, I start to plan out my days by hour in my planner. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ulrich Beck is a German sociologist who has elaborated a formulation of the theory of reflexive modernization, which is characterized by two theses: risk thesis and individualization thesis. Beck's thesis in Germany has been understood as a bal–ance of these two theses, but in Anglo–Saxon sociology the risk thesis has been influential . For better understanding of individualization process it's necessary to explain what is new and specific in this process. The new is that something that earlier in nineteenth century was expected of a few "to lead a life of their own" to–day is demanded by more and more people. She would not argue with going to her Grandmas' because she enjoyed the little things she would do with her grandma. She felt a sense of pride and full of joy when being along her side. "I always felt her gray eye on me. It made me feel, in a strange sort of way, safe and guarded and not alone. Like God was supposed to make you feel" (33). These were only things she experienced when being with her grandma. Although they would hardly talk, she would feel happy because she knew her grandma was happy for her too. This was an interest in which the narrator took great joy in. With things such as cooking, cleaning or running errands for her grandma she was able to be herself and enjoy the time in which she spent there. Although those negative comments were her major conflict, this negativity also benefitted her in a way. If it wasn't for those fights in which she would get into, she would not spend as much time as she liked with her grandma. • 72. Essay On My Life Experience Each day we all experience things that are extraordinary and sometimes unforgettable. Yet it's how we let those experiences impact us individually that makes us each unique. An experience in my life that changed how I acted, thought, and felt was the first time I volunteered at my church during their summer "scamp" sessions. The "scamp" sessions aimed to make the lessons correlate to things the kids would do during summer camps. Serving at one of these session allowed the year round volunteers to continue serving if they wanted, but also have the ability to take a vacation and enjoy the church's service. Although life offers a multitude of life changing experiences, serving at Mecklenburg Community Church for the first time was greatest experience because I gained connections in my community, learned strong leadership skills and gained a desire to serve others first. It all began when I attended my first "scamp" session and I had several opportunities for jobs outside of the church over the summer and translating into the school year. The first time I served at Meck I was able to meet and be introduced to three families at the church who later reached out to me for weekly opportunities to work with their kids. In seeing the kids both in and outside of church over the summer "scamps" I gained more insight of their lives and personalities. One specific family that I met the first time I volunteered was the Harris family. I made a close bond with their youngest daughter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Starting from the antics, it survived the passive medieval times and reappeared in the modern era with improved strength. Although cosmopolitanism represents constantly present answer to important social questions posed in different times, its presence and eminence changed due to and in relation to the character of certain historical period. Cosmopolitan idea was introduced to philosophy by Stoics, in whose writtings very sophisticated accounts of the idea can be found. Held's cosmopolitanism is based on the premise that national state can not remain the sole dominant level of governance in the globalized, interconnected world. That is why his works concentrate on global governance principles and general recommendations of reform of the most important international bodies (primarily UN). But Daniel was the first to try fermented goats milk. He believed his beer would have nutritive value and while you may not find his brew on the off license shelves, you will still find it bubbling away in Daniel's bedroom. I just hope he hasn't brought a barrel of it along today in attempt to save a few quid. • 78. Elie Wiesel Diary Entries Hello. It's been seventy years since we met, and here we are: still alive. I was ten years old, an emaciated little girl with ragged hair. You were a soldier, and you saved me. Had I remained in the concentration camp any longer, I would have died. Although I was there just a few months (having been discovered a short time before the war ended), my entire family–my mother, father, and sister– managed to perish in the flames of the crematorium. But when you stood inside the barbed wire with me, carrying the flag that bears freedom, I knew I could not burn with them. I only survived because you liberated me. Even though I came to America shortly after, I did not think I would be able to find you... but seventy years later, I have. Now that I have found you, I just want to know a few things. How did you feel when you discovered my camp? You may not have known about them previously (since these camps were secrets to the world), so it may have shocked you. What did you think of gas chambers, the crematoria, and the mass pits full of deceased Jews? I still remember them; their memory bothers me no longer, though. You and your fellow soldiers pitied us Jews, and we were rarely fed, so you must have known that too much food would have made me ill. It was just chocolate. Finally, are you still haunted by the visions of the concentration camps?
