Three Day Relationship Between Romeo And Juliet
Love Story or Barely Legal Three Day Relationship? The defintion of love is "to need or require; benefit greatly from" (Dictionary.com). This
emotion is very prevalent in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet loved one another so much, they literally
died for that love. However, they were not the only ones to blame for this unfortunate event. Benvolio, Lady Capulet, and the Capulet and Montague
families were also to blame. Benvolio brought Romeo to the party where he met Juliet, Lady Capulet kept pressuring Juliet to marry Paris, and the
Capulet and Montague families kept tearing Romeo and Juliet apart. Benvolio played a very big role in the death of them both because he is
responsible for the two of them meeting. In the play, Benvolio tells Romeo to stop moping around about Rosaline and start looking for someone else.

She kept pressuring Juliet to marry Paris when Juliet didn't want to. Lady Capulet even asks Juliet's opinion on the matter, but does not take it into
consideration. "LADY CAPULET Speak briefly, can you like of Paris' love? JULIET I'll look to like, if looking liking move: But no more deep will I
endart mine eye Than your consent gives strength to make it fly" (1.3.96–99). Lady Capulet clearly asks Juliet if she likes Paris. Juliet basically says
that she doesn't really, and that she will like whom she chooses. Later on, however, Lady Capulet says that Juliet is marrying Paris on a Thursday
morning. "LADY CAPULET Marry, my child, early next Thursday morn, The gallant, young and noble gentleman, The County Paris, at Saint Peter's
Church, Shall happily make thee there a joyful bride" (3.5.113–116). Lady Capulet does not know, however, that Juliet is already married. Later on in
this scene, Juliet, begs her father and mother to not force her to marry Paris. Lady Capulet's actions make Juliet want to end her life, which, in the end,

Is The Meaning Of The Song Romeo And Juliet By Taylor Swift
Romeo and Juliet "Love Story" by Taylor Swift. In the song "Love Story" if you actually read the words you can understand the meaning of the
lyrics. It's not just about Taylor's same old problem with her ex boyfriend, this song was made to be based on this play. Romeo and Juliet is about
2 paramours fighting for a love so strong. As for the play, if you actually think about what they're saying the story comes to life. The lyrics "We
were both young when I first saw you" explains that Romeo and Juliet were actually pretty young when they first saw each other. "I sneak out to
the garden to see you, we keep quiet cause we're dead if they knew.." This explains that in Scene 2 of this Act, act 2. Juliet is on her balcony talking
to herself about how amazing Romeo is, while Romeo sneaks in to see her. They keep quiet because Romeo is a Capulet while Juliet is a Montague,
and if either side found out about them, it would be bad news especially if Juliet's kinsman found out he was in the Capulets yard. In the song the
lyrics go, "This love is difficult, but it's real." explains the many obstacles they had to overcome. While almost everyone was looking from the... Show

"We Found Love" is one of the most catchy songs for this play. This song would fit in perfectly at the beginning of the story in Act 1 Scene 5.
Romeo and Juliet fell in love with each other, but with being a Capulet and being a Montague, they fell in love in a hopeless place which kind of
reflects on or mirrors the lyrics, "We found love in a hopeless place." They had to keep their love a secret since Juliet is a Capulet and Romeo is a
Montague. It makes sense because the Montagues are not friends with the Capulets and want nothing to do with each other. "Yellow Diamonds in the
light, we were standing side by side, as your shadow crosses mine, what it takes to come alive." Completely describes the background when Romeo
and Juliet were together after Romeo sneaks in to see

Blame In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet
Blame is to find fault with or to hold responsible. Habitually, people resort to holding responsibilities over others in order to eliminate the blame off of
themselves. With a conclusion as tragic as the one in Shakespeare's famous play, Romeo and Juliet, the factors to blame for their death are countless,
but the most remarkable factors to blame for the young couple's deaths are the Capulet family and Romeo and Juliet themselves.
In a way, Romeo and Juliet are to blame for their own death. Impulsiveness, such as that displayed by Romeo and Juliet, may lead people to perform
dodgy actions. In Act 1 of Romeo and Juliet, the young couple meet at a party hosted by the Capulets where they unquestionably fall in love in love
with each other. Romeo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The young Capulet was raised in a household where her father would abuse Juliet both verbally and emotionally, including some suggestions of
physical abuse. When Lady Capulet announces to Juliet that she is not to be sad for her cousin's death, because she is to be wed to Paris, Juliet
refuses to do such as she still loves Romeo. As Capulet hears of Juliet's decline to marriage, he bursts into a rage, calling Juliet worthless for being
his only child and not doing anything for the sake of his status. Capulet's anger goes to extreme lengths as he threatens to drag her to the church and
expresses his anger at Juliet by announcing he feels the urge to hurt her. As a result of experiencing this damage throughout her childhood, Juliet
may have viewed Romeo as a way to escape her father and his abusive ways. In this case, Juliet stabbed herself after seeing Romeo dead, because
she could not have survived a world where she must return back to her father and Paris without Romeo. Not only was her father a damaging influence
on Juliet, but her mother and nurse affected her in a negative way. Act 1, Scene 3 opens with Lady Capulet asking Nurse for Juliet so that she can ask
Juliet for her opinion on getting married. Before Nurse makes awfully inappropriate comments about Juliet, Lady Capulet claims Juliet is only

The Character Of Romeo Montague in William Shakespeare's...
The Character Of Romeo Montague in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet Romeo is one of the main characters in Shakespeare's play "Romeo
and Juliet" and is portrayed as a tragic figure, who is guided by his destiny. Shakespeare initially introduces Romeo to be a romantic sentimentalist, who
is over–obsessed with his own emotions. Romeo, however, loses these personality traits towards the end of the play, and becomes more mature after
falling deeply in love with Juliet. His love for her is strong and over–whelming, and Shakespeare vividly represents this by dramatic visual moments
throughout the play, culminating in the tragic climax of Romeo's suicide, to join with his Juliet in death.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is one of the many themes that Shakespeare provides to suggest foreboding early on in the play. The omen is ambiguous as it firstly implies
Romeo is worrying about something that will not happen and is generally nervous about arriving uninvited. However, it could imply that in going to
the Ball, he will meet Juliet, which will cause drastic events to happen, and eventually lead to both their deaths. This is one of the main themes during
the play and is successfully entwined in Romeo's script to introduce foreboding to the audience without the character realising it. He disregards the
omen, and continues with his friends to the Ball. On arrival, he seeks Rosaline, but his attentions rapidly divert to Juliet Capulet, "She seems to hang
upon the cheek of night" displays Romeo's persona to be fickle and to have a fluctuating nature. He had before thought Rosaline to be beautiful, but
now he sees Juliet as the most beautiful woman in the world. This is one of the more romantic traits of Romeo, and Shakespeare uses many metaphors
and similes in Romeo's speech and successfully interlaces them to represent the poetic and child–like wonder that Romeo experiences when he sets
eyes on Juliet. Romeo's role is consistent throughout as 'The Romantic Lover',

Love In Romeo And Juliet Essay
William Shakespeare uses a range of techniques to convey the theme of love in Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is play about the tragedy of a
couple desperately in love and want to marry, however, their parents forbid it as they are both from enemy families. Romeo is a Montague and the
Juliet is a Capulet. Juliet's parents wants her to marry someone of their choosing instead, in which Juliet did not truly love, and they would disown her
if she were to not do so.
William Shakespeare conveys the theme of love by introducing two families with an ancient grudge among other characters. The Montagues, and the
Capulets. Romeo, a Montague, also Friar Lawrence's son, goes to Juliet's (a Capulet), party by invitation from Mercutio, Romeo's cousin. Juliet is 14
years old, and getting ready to marry. Her parents, Lord and Lady Capulet, want her to wed Paris, who is pretty much just a random guy in which her
parents see fit to marry their daughter. The Capulets also have Tybalt, the son of Lady Capulet's brother, Juliet's Cousin and also Romeo's enemy.

To start, Shakespeare uses daggers and swords as a symbol of death, the idea of violence, rage and revenge. The frequent "civil wars" between the
Montague and Capulet families show the rampant feelings and emotions of the characters in the play. Another important use of symbolism in
Romeo and Juliet is the poison. Poison has both a literal purpose in the play (eg. The suicide of Romeo) and also used as a symbol for hatred, feud
(eg. The battle between the Capulet and Montague family), but also love. When Romeo finds Juliet is dead, he drinks poison he bought from the
Apothecary, symbolizing Romeo's unbridled love for Juliet, and how he just cannot live without her, "Here's to my love! O true apothecary! Thy
drugs are quick. Thus I die with a kiss". (Act V, Scene iii,

Who Was Responsible For The Deaths Of Romeo And Juliet
The play "Romeo and Juliet" written by Shakespeare was a tragedy. A tragedy is an event that causes great suffering. "Romeo and Juliet" is a
tragedy that includes the death of six people. Two kids who were "in love" weren't allowed to be together because of their families feud. They
claimed to be "in love," but the truth is, this was a play about two teenagers lusting for sex. This lusting ultimately led to their untimely deaths. The
Capulets and Montagues were the ultimate cause of the tragic death of Romeo and Juliet. The Capulets and Montagues freud was so bad that when
Romeo enters the Capulet's party Tybalt became jealous. Tybalt's jealousy lead to anger which made him want to fight Romeo. Mercutio who was
innocent and just wanted peace between the families tried to help Romeo and lost his life, Tybalt's anger and jealousy lead to his murder by Romeo.
Romeo was banished by the Prince over a fight that started because the two families did not like each other and it caused hatred and lead to death....

They knew their parents would not approve of it but they still did it and kept it a secret. They only got married for sex and attention. Juliet's father
eventually decided that it was time for her to get married and the man he picked to marry her she didn't want. In the play she said "And before I am
married to another man, I'll kill myself." That's what she did and so did Romeo since the two couldn't be together they decided not to be here at all.

In William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" two houses the montague and capulet are in terrible feud and two people from each house have fallen
in love with each other. The lovers meet and attempt to get married but there love comes crashing down and they both end up committing suicide.
People have always been wondering whose fault it was when they killed themselves and my theory revolves around 3 people/ groups whose names are
the Capulet household, Juliet and Friar Lawrence. These 3 characters/group play a very important role in Romeo and Juliet's death because of the
impact they made on their marriage.
(act 1 scene 1,2)The Capulet household played a big role in Romeo and Juliet's death because of the huge feud between the montagues and the Capulets.

Juliet forces Friar Lawrence to give her a potion that would fake her own death so she would not have to marry Paris. Later on when Romeo
comes to find Juliet faking her death but he does not know it is fake, he takes his life which then causes Juliet to take her life. If Juliet did not
follow such a reckless plan and do something less dangerous, they would not have killed themselves. Romeo and Juliet are to blame for their own
death for all of the reckless decisions they made and plans that did not work with a lot of errors.
(act 1–5)In conclusion, these 3 people played the biggest roles in Romeo and Juliet's death because of all the hatred between the families, the
ignorance with Juliet and Romeo and bad planning with many flaws. If these things were solved, then Romeo and Juliet could have lived a happy life
and not killed themselves. Romeo and Juliet could have had an amazing love and lived on, but these things caused major problems and lots of deaths.

Montague And Juliet In William Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet
Blame, assigning the responsibility for a fault or wrong. A play about two star–crossed lovers leaves their tragic ending to the question of, who is
responsible? Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, explores the many possibilities of who is to blame for the deaths of Romeo
Montague and Juliet Capulet. Through his use of characterization and conflict, Shakespeare proves that families should carry the blame as a whole.
Illustrating how the Capulets parent their child compared to the Montague techniques is one of many ways Shakespeare shows the role of family in
blame. Juliet and her parents had been discussing an arranged marriage between Juliet and County Paris. Unfortunately, Romeo has already married
Juliet so she is unable to follow her parents' wishes. Juliet attempts to express her desire to not marry Paris when her father becomes enraged and
says, "But, an you will not wed, I'll pardon you. Graze where you will, you shall not house with me," (3.4.215–216). The Capulets are remarkably strict
parents and expect their daughter to abide by them at all times. The threat to disown her if she doesn't marry the man picked for her makes this very
clear. Before Juliet met Romeo she did what was asked of her, however, when Romeo was in the picture he gave her a taste of what she had been
restricted from. Nevertheless, the sense of rebellion had drawn Juliet to Romeo. Consequently, the desire for this new feeling led Juliet to make drastic
decisions without thinking.

Comparing Zeffirelli's Adaptation Of Romeo And Juliet
"For never was a story of more woe/ Than this of Juliet and her Romeo." The last line of Romeo and Juliet was one that summed up the whole play.
Romeo and Juliet is a tragic love story between two star–crossed lovers. Juliet, a 13 years old girl, belongs to the Capulet Family. Romeo, aged at
around 16, belongs to the Montague family. The two lovers cross paths and the next day they are already married. The play itself was written by
William Shakespeare in 1595. Whether it a book or a movie, in all the spin–offs, there are sometimes many difference or just a few. One of the closest
interpretations of the play is the movie Romeo and Juliet directed by Franco Zeffirelli in 1968; the extremely popular movie is a close interpretation of

Both open with an epic fight scene. Moving later into the play, Romeo and his friends stumble across a Capulet servant who cannot read. The
servant asks Romeo to read the list of names Lord Capulet has given him for a party taking place later that night. The servant then invites Romeo to
the party as long as he isn't a Montague. This scene sets up the meeting of Romeo and Juliet and, sadly, not in the movie version. Later in the play,
the men show up to the party at the Capulet's house. In the play this party, a masquerade ball, describes everybody in disguise; so nobody can really
say who is who. In the movie, however, not many people seem in disguise at all. In fact, in the movie, only Romeo and his friends seem dressed to the

Identity In Romeo And Juliet
William Shakespeare wrote many plays, including Romeo and Juliet. The real title of the play is The Extraordinary and Lamentable Tragedy of
Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet takes place Verona in the mid–1300's. The idea of identity heavily impacts the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. By the
end of the play, family affiliation, gender, social class, and age all contribute to the tragedy of the play. Today's idea of identity is drastically different
than the 1300's, but at the same time, they are very much fraternal. In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet's families were enemies, this caused them to
have forbidden love for one another. At the masquerade ball, Romeo and Juliet danced together, when Romeo left, Juliet asked the Nurse who he was

Lord Capulet is Juliet's father and he says, "Go you to Juliet ere you go to bed. Prepare her, wife, against this wedding day" (Act 4, Scene 4, Page 2,

his wife that Juliet is getting married to Paris, and for her to go and tell Juliet the news. Lord Capulet does not ask Juliet if she wants to marry
Paris, he tells her that she is going to marry him and Juliet does not agree, "Ere he, that should be husband, comes to woo.I pray you, tell my lord

went behind his back to marry Romeo. The idea of being a woman in the 1300's contributes to the drama and tragedy of the

How Is Romeo And Juliet Selfish
"I do love nothing in the world so much as you.." William Shakespeare. Many mothers feel this way for their children, they show infinite love for

joyful bride."(3.3.115) When she says it will make Juliet happy to marry Paris she is wrong because she does not know who is going to make
Juliet happy. Additionally, when Juliet says she does not want to marry Paris Lady Capulet says that she can deal with her father. This is weak
because Lady Capulet does not care to see if Juliet is happy she just wants what is best for her. Lady Montague is weak because she does not make
an effort to talk to Romeo about anything he is doing at the time. After Romeo has slain Tybalt, Lady Montague does not talk to Romeo to comfort
him or to ask him if he is ok. Also, at the end of the play, after Romeo kills himself, she does not think she has anything else to live for so she kills
herself. This is weak because she could have tried to prevent this tragedy from happening. All in all, Lady Montague and Lady Capulet are weak
because if they would pay more attention these terrible things will not happen to their

The Tempest Reoccurring Theme Essay
Shakespeare's The Tempest has reoccurring themes that could point toward the end of his career, including control and imprisonment. These are shown

Prospero and his daughter, Miranda, escaped to the island twelve years before the play beings. In this relationship, he has kept his daughter ignorant of

Juliet is in the middle of a prologue when she says " For wilt thou lie upon the wings of the night, whiter than the snow upon a Raven's back. Come
gentle night come, loving, black brow'd night give me my Romeo". (III.iii 18–20) That quote shows personification because Romeo is being compared
to snow on a raven's back. Juliet is also giving the nighttime un realistic features like loving and gentle personalities. Also it is asking for the sky to
bring her true lover to her. It shows true love because she is asking something, yes an object, to bring her, her true lover and if she didn't love him, she
wouldn't have asked. Therefore that shows that Juliet has a true compassion about loving Romeo. When Romeo first met Juliet, Juliet wonders how he
entered the gates community until her answered back saying:"With love's light wings did i o'erperch these wall are no stop to me".(II.ii 66–70) The
love isn't going to get through stone walls, this quote shows personification because walls can and will hold you out, unless you have some heavy
machinery to get through them with. Romeo's choice of word show personification because your "Wings" which no one has. Will Help you get over
a stone wall. They aren't going to do anything. Therefore it shows true love because he is trying to sound smart s Juliet will love him. Those are great
examples of personification because it shows how the personification that Shakespeare uses is a symbol of true

What Is Mercutio To Blame

the tragedies in the play, however one person seems to be the most responsible for these deaths, and this person is Mercutio because of his constant

Love plays a major role in William Shakespeare's play 'Romeo and Juliet' as it demonstrates to readers just how far someone will go just to be

behind the word dear. The first being that Juliet is dear to him and the other being debt because he is afraid that Juliet's father Capulet won't
approve of his love for Juliet, so Capulet would tell Romeo to stay away from his daughter. In the scene where Romeo is standing outside Juliet's

The Montagues And Capulets In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet
The Montagues and Capulets feud interferes with Romeo and Juliet's relationship. If their feud never happened they would still be alive. Romeo
and Juliet written by William Shakespeare is a story about 2 people who fall in love, but their families feud gets in the way. Parents play an
important role in this play for 3 reasons. The reasons are the feud and relationship between each other, their freedom between who they want to marry,
and neglecting Juliet. The montagues and Capulets feud interferes with Romeo and Juliet's relationship. Romeo wonders if Juliet is a capulet. "'is she

Relationship Between Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet, a tragic play written by William Shakespeare, manifests the idea that love supersedes hatred. The playwright evidently enforces the
prominence of love though the relationship of Romeo and Juliet, despite their families' feud. Additionally, Shakespeare uses Juliet's nurse to
demonstrate the prominence of love, despite the hatred of lower social class by the upper class. Moreover, the predominance of love over hatred is
displayed through characters, Lord Capulet and Lord Montague, when they unite in sorrow. As a result, William Shakespeare evidently displays that
love conquers hatred.

The fond relationship of Juliet and Nurse, reflects the love between both characters despite their different social class. When nurse's character
answers, 'Indeed. Heavens, I can tell [Juliet's] age to the exact hour' (pg. 53), it becomes apparent to the audience the love and importance of Juliet in
nurse's life. Through creating a close bond between Nurse and Juliet, Shakespeare demonstrates the love between the two characters, in spite of the
hatred of society on the lower class, thus reaffirming, that love overpowers hatred of social class. An illustration of the idea that love triumphs hatred
is explored when Romeo insults the Nurse by saying, 'What wilt thou tell her, nurse? Thou dost not mark me' (Pg.136). Shakespeare utilises this quote
to emphasis the disrespectful mannerism which the upper class treated the lower class. Additionally, the playwright distinctly creates Juliet's nurse and
Juliet's biological mother to be juxtaposition to exemplify the prominence of love within the play. The unexpected relationship of Nurse and Juliet
identifies how love has no boundaries, not even social class, and as a result Shakespeare enforces that love conquers hatred. Similarly to the way
Shakespeare utilises the character of Nurse, he also uses characters, Montague and Capulet, to explore the prominence of love suppressing

Hatred Between Montagues and Capulets in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet Task To analyse how Franco Zefferelli and Baz Lurhmann
show the hatred between the Montague's and Capulet, which is so strong in the opening sequence of their film version of Shakespeare's Romeo and
Juliet. Introduction ============ Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' is a love story and a tragedy – one of his best known and well loved plays. The

The man sounded warm and gentle his voice was also serious but in my opinion he didn't sound that sad even though Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy.
Then after the sun close– up fades the scene changes to a long shot of part of a castle and the words 'Romeo and Juliet' in white lettering appear on the
screen. I think the prologue doesn't have any extreme close ups – which doesn't give any dramatic effects. I think Franco Zefferelli wanted to create a
peaceful prologue because of the man speaking in that scene and the very long shot of the city of Verona with the camera moving slowly towards
the sun, which is peaceful. The next scene would than is a contrast to the business to the market place and the brutal between the two families. This
prologue of the second film version of Romeo and Juliet is totally different because of the far more advanced technology used. In this 2nd film of
Romeo and Juliet by Baz Lurhmann the first thing we see on the film is a black room with a TV in the centre. The TV is fuzzy at first and then

Comparing Romeo Montague And Gnomeo Blueberry
It's very surprising how much a character of a famous love story and a gnome can have in common. Especially when you take the fact that the gnome
is suppose to be a parody of the human. What is being said here is that despite not being alike, they are still an alternate universe versions of Romeo
Montague. Well, one of them isRomeo Montague, so it cancels out.
There are big differences between Romeo Montague and Gnomeo Blueberry, such as where their story takes place, love for their universe's respective
Juliet, and their behaviours.
Romeo Montague is a believer, who was already "struggling" the loss of not being able to get with a first girl when Juliet Capulet made her appearance.

Gnomeo meets Juliet on top of a greenhouse with a flower on it, reaching for it at the same time as Juliet (Romance cliches.). They start flirting and
having fun, until they eventually fall into a pool of water (that somehow makes Juliet's entire outfit come off?) and it is both revealed that they are of
opposing sides. When Romeo first met juliet, they flirted and kissed non–stop until they were forced apart. Near the end of the story, Gnomeo was very
heroic, and saved juliet for the death metal listener known as the TERRAFIRMINATOR, which happens to be a tractor that destroyed both sides of
the gardens. Gnomeo stayed with juliet and kept trying to get her out of the literal sticky situation that juliet was in. It resulted in him and her living,
but it was still an act of goodwill that could have resulted in the conscious sacrifice of his well–being. The literal definition of a hero. When Romeo's

Examples Of True Love In Romeo And Juliet
Some may say love is a curse while some may say love is a blessing, because of the actions it makes one take. William Shakespeare's Romeo and
Juliet illustrates the actions and feats of what true love is capable of achieving. Romeo and Juliet's life revolves around their family having a feud with
one another, and that the father of the house chooses whom the child marries. However, the children of the two houseslove each other. In Shakespeare's
Romeo and Juliet, it shows the two main character's experiences illustrates that true love is powerful and capable of conquering reason, family, and hate.

Romeo admits, "I'll go along no such sight to be shown but to rejoice splendour of my own" (I.V.102–103) Romeo's quote emphasizes that the women

wears a mask to a party to hide his identity, one can still recognize the individual by their voice and their by their actions. This evokes to the reader that
Romeo and his comrades 'love for women distracts them from reasoning, and make them decide to attend their enemy's ball. Additionally, Romeo's
decision to kill himself without any genuine reasoning after hearing about Juliet's death, illustrates the point that love is more powerful than reasoning.
Romeo cries, "Well Juliet (Romeo) will lie with thee tonight"(V.I.34). This quote proclaimed by Romeo shows he has given up on life right after
hearing the horrible news. This diverts to the reader that Romeo, who always seeks the Friar's assistance when something important would happen,

The Hostility Between the 'Montagues' and the 'Capulets' in Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare William Shakespeare's play 'Romeo and Juliet has a
major theme of conflict. The main conflict in the play is the feud between the two wealthy families: the 'Montagues' and the 'Capulets'. Shakespeare
does not state the reason for the hostility between the two families. Shakespeare may have done this to indicate how long the feud has been going for.
Shakespeare creates conflicts between characters in the play. One conflict is between 'Tybalt' and 'Romeo'. This conflict is interesting because it is

Friar Lawrence provides another example of conflict when he marries Romeo to Juliet in opposition to the authority of their fathers. This conflict
is unique because Romeo and Juliet's fathers did not found out about the marriage until towards the end of the play. This creates suspense in the
story. Sometimes there is conflict inside the mind of individuals. Romeo visualizes where his destiny leads him to. 'I fear too early, for my mind
misgives some consequence yet hanging in the stars'. This line shows disturbing pictures of Romeo's fait. Shakespeare uses conflicts inside the
minds to create mystery. Love and hate is a very common occurrence in 'Romeo and Juliet'. There are many characters that show a loving attitude
towards someone. Romeo and Rosaline love was not pure Romeo was just infatuated with Rosaline, this all stopped once Romeo meets Juliet.
Another example of love is between Romeo and Friar Lawrence. Romeo and Friar Lawrence love is different. This is because they share a
brotherly type of love. Nurse and Juliet provide another example of love in the play. Their love is similar to the love that Romeo and Friar Lawrence
share. However the love between the Nurse and Juliet is considered to be stronger because Nurse has nurtured Juliet since she was a baby. There is
evidence of this in the play. 'On Lammas–eve at night shall she be

Hate In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet
Heat and Flame, Cold and Ice, Love and Hate. All of these things are one half of a whole. You can't have one without the other; they always come
hand in hand. That is what I understand from the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare.
The story of Romeo and Juliet is about two feuding families, the Capulets and the Montagues. Romeo is a Montague while Juliet is a Capulet; their love
is forbidden. This is where i get the theory about Love and Hate being parts of a whole. While both families hate each other, Romeo and Juliet still
find a way to love each other.
In act 1 scene 1, fighting ensues. Gregory and Sampson, both Capulets, are walking the streets of the market when they see two Montagues across the
square. Because Sampson and Gregory's hatred for the Montagues is so strong, they bite their thumb at the Montagues, which in modern days is giving
the middle finger. This cause a whole new world of problems. Benvolio, a Montague, enters and surprising tries to stop the fighting, but that causes
Tybalt, the hot headed Capulet, to "come to the rescue". The hatred between the two families is so strong, they no longer remember what the feud was
about, and they would rather kill each other then sit down and discuss everything. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They discover that they are mortal enemies but they are both willing to overlook that for even the small chance of their happiness. The two are so
smitten with each other, so in love, they are willing to look past all the hate and move on from it to be together. This is where you can clearly see
both, the love and the hatred. Both families are full of anger and the desire for bloodshed with each other, but the son of a Montague and the daughter
of a Capulet, break free of these chains and are able to forget everything that seems wrong about them being together and just embrace the new feelings.

Mercutio's Death
"Romeo and Juliet" is known for one of the most famous tragic plays written by William Shakespeare because this story is describing their fateful
encounter and sorrowful death which were happened in only five days. The main characters, Romeo and Juliet meet by chance, and they fall in love
at first glance. However, they come from Montagues and Capulets respectively, and the families are in an adversarial relationship. At first, their love
is described pleasantly using a lot of humor, but the situation becomes serious after Mercutio, who is Romeo's friend, dies. Additionally, the poison
that causes death of Romeo and Juliet is given by friar Lawrence. In "Romeo and Juliet", young children die because of the state of their family and

Although the relationship is described roughly, it is a base of this story. From their remarks and actions, it is clear that they hate each other.
However, at the end of this story, Montagues and Capulets is reconciled regretting that they force Romeo and Juliet into death. Only two young
children's death can stop the two families from detesting each other. Second, Mercutio's death is how the tragedy all starts. At first, he is described
as a jocular person who often use vulgar jokes. However, he accepts a challenge from Tybalt and because of this duel he dies although Romeo
stands Tybalt's provocation. Moreover, after Mercutio's death, Romeo kills Tybalt, and he is banished from Verona. Because of Mercutio's foolish
action, "Romeo and Juliet" starts to be tragic. Finally, friar Lawrence is a person who let Romeo and Juliet get married, and gives them a dangerous
tool that can kill them. Friar Lawrence try to let Montagues and Capulets make up with by mediating Romeo and Juliet because he wishes a
reconciliation. However, the action of making use of two pure young children causes their death. The most harmful action that he does is that he gives
a poison to Juliet who is only thirteen years old. Although the poison can not kill people, Romeo and Juliet die because of the poison. All the actions
of Friar Lawrence is temporary and risky, and he

Romeo and Juliet is the tragic story of two young lovers, longing to be together but kept apart by their families. They prove their love for each other
by going behind their parents' backs to meet, to be together and to be married before meeting an untimely death. Deciding who is ultimately
responsible for their tragic end can be difficult as there are so many people who play a significant role in their lives and who have an influence on
how the play unfolds. Firstly, although Romeo and Juliet are the protagonists of the play that doesn't mean they do not share in some of the blame.
Their courtship was very brief, the play spans less than a week, so it could be argued that they rushed into their marriage without properly planning

Out on her, hilding!" Act 3 Scene 5 Line 167–168 Once again, the rebellious nature of teenagers could come into play; Capulet wants Juliet to marry
Paris but she remains stubborn. This is also a great example of how the parents in the play pay little notice to what their children want. In this
scene Juliet makes it obvious that her happiness doesn't lie with Paris yet her father ignores this and tells her to marry him or be disowned.
However some people will step up to defend the parents and suggest they only wanted the best for their children, like any parent does. Perhaps
what was best was that Romeo and Juliet should not have met. We don't know the full details of the feud, perhaps no one in the play does, there
may be a good reason for it but there may not. Also, nowadays it is perhaps easier to say the parents are to blame for being absent as we are used
to seeing parents play a much larger role in their children's lives. This play was written in Elizabethan times when it was common for noble families,
such as the Capulets and Montagues, to employ a nurse to raise their children. One cannot really fault the parents if, in Elizabethan society's eyes,
they were acting accordingly. On the subject of society, arranged marriages were probably common as well between wealthy families and were seen
as the normal and proper thing. It would have been the parents' duty to see their children were well–matched and that is

Conflict Between Montagues And Capulets In Romeo And Juliet
Conflict presents itself in many different forms. Whether it be the massacre of over 800,000 people that the Rwandan Genocide caused in a mere

Africa that is about the size of Maryland (Beauchamp, 2014). The Hutu people are in the majority, making up 85 percent of the population, while Tutsis

genocide of the Tutsi people that the Hutus had been planning for a number of years. The mass genocide began a day after the assassination on April

William Shakespeare wrote many plays, including Romeo and Juliet. The real title of the play is The Extraordinary and Lamentable Tragedy of
Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet takes place Verona in the mid–1300's. The idea of identity heavily impacts the story of Romeo and Juliet. By the
end of the play, family affiliation, gender, social class, and age all contribute to the tragedy of the play. Today's idea of identity is drastically different
than the 1300's, but at the same time, they are very much the same. In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo and Juliet's families were enemies, this caused them to

How Does Shakespeare Create Tension In Romeo And Juliet
"A pair of star–cross'd lovers" in the classic tale Romeo and Juliet, is written by the famous playwright William Shakespeare. In the midst of the
Capulet and Montague's ancient grudge and hatred for one another, Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montague are confronted with a forbidden lust separated
by their family's feud. The story explores love, hatred, death and forgiveness, depicted through the stylistic features that Shakespeare employs to portray
tension between the Montague and Capulet families. The tale of Romeo and Juliet sees their love trial among an endless brawl of hatred with many
consequences. The opening scene introduces conflict between the two families through their slave's dialogue, "I will bite my thumb at them, which is a
disgrace." Shakespeare already establishes within the first scene the hatred that both families have for each other that even their help and staff cannot
stand one another. Furthermore Shakespeare uses setting to convey the particular hatred Tybalt has for Romeo when he crashes the Capulet's party.

Shakespeare ironically sets the setting of their blossom of love at the Capulet's party, a place where if Romeo is seen, "they will murder thee", in
order to show his sacrifice for their love. Contrary in Juliet's soliloquy she begs Romeo to "deny thy father and refuse thy name." Shakespeare
explains that if it was not for Juliet being a Capulet and similarly, Romeo a Montague, there love would be free to flourish. On the flip side it also
shows the tension between families for their love must be kept secret. "A plague o' both your houses" foreshadows bad things to come of Romeos love
with Juliet in the future that will see both fighting families suffer great loss. With love and hate battling through the story the only resolution can be

Find An Example Of The Theme Of Fate In Romeo And Juliet
1.Find an example of the theme of "fate". "From forth the fatal loins of these two foes. A pair of star–crossed lovers take their life". When translated it

Romeo and Juliet including how they ended up killing themselves, and how their families stopped fighting after both of their deaths. Romeo and Juliet
had a very beautiful but tragic love story. That of which ended by not being able to profess their love openly. Later on fate intervenes and causes

city of Verona, where our story takes place, a long standing hatred between two families erupts into new violence". What they are trying to say in the
translation is that the two families hate each other, and when Romeo and Juliet fall in love and their parents find out, they begin to hate the other
family even more. Also, they had tried to separate them but had realized that they were only making them closer to one another. Both their families had
realized what they had done by trying to separate the two star crossed lovers with the effect that the Capulets and Montagues' hatred against one another

I think the deaths of Romeo and Juliet in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet By: William Shakespeare were the faults of many reasons. The main
reason was the feud between the Capulets and Montagues. I also think it had a lot to do with Tybalt and his "anger issues." Also I think Fate played
a big part in their deaths too. First of all, I think if the families didn't have a big feud and didn't hate each other then Romeo and Juliet would still be
alive. If it didn't matter that Romeo was a montague then I think The Capulet wouldn't have cared that Juliet married Romeo. An example in the book

Fate is a predominant topic throughout many pieces of literature. Often, authors use their writing to state their opinions and beliefs on topics like
fate. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a prime example of this. This play is a tale of two people, parts of two warring families, falling in
love at first sight. As decided by fate, the two teenagers eventually lead themselves to their death as a result of their love. Fate is a recurring theme in

Early on Romeo himself foresaw his fate before meeting his love. Though Romeo was unsure of his exact end, on several occasions he questions
his fate and how it will affect him. Before Romeo entered the party of his family's sworn enemy and his soon to be lover, he is heard questioning
the stars, "I fear, too early: for my mind misgives/ Some consequence yet hanging in the stars/ Shall bitterly begin his fearful date/ With this night's
revels and expire the term/ Of a despised life closed in my breast/ By some vile forfeit of untimely death" (I, iv, 113–8). At this point Romeo is aware
he should not attend the party of his enemy yet he goes anyway. Romeo fears that this party will lead him to some consequence so he is extremely
hesitant to accept the invitation from his friends to get over his most recent love Rosaline. Ultimately he chooses to attend in order to avoid the fate
of feeling sorrowful over the loss of his Rosaline; he feels as if the attendance of the party will somehow bring him a gruesome and awfully timed
death, which it does. This party is where Romeo makes eye–contact with Juliet for the first time, from that moment forward the pair tumbles into a
turbulent path of death and destruction not only of themselves but the people around them. It is not a coincidence that the party that Romeo is
extremely reluctant to attend ends up leading him to his death; fate inclines Romeo to attend this party and to commence this chain of events. The
party Romeo attended to avoid his "fate" to feel alone but, it leads him to his real fate, death by love. Yet again, author William Shakespeare shows his

Fate In Romeo And Juliet
The powerful concepts of fate and destiny functions as a central themes in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Despite passionate affection, the
fates of tragic lovers are "written in the stars," or predetermined by some divine force. The whole structure of the play itself rests upon the fate from
which the two lovers cannot escape from. Although Romeo and Juliet scheme up many ways to be together, it is almost certain that they have no hand
in their fate; they are merely being pushed along by fate and their destiny. In the opening prologue, Shakespeare uses the chorus as a first tool to
introduce the idea of fate. The chorus informs the audience that Romeo and Juliet are "star cross'd lovers [that] take their life" (Prologue. 6). In other
words, the chorus states that Romeo and Juliet are governed by fate, a force often linked to the movement of the stars. Another... Show more content on

Lucking gives several examples of time that works for and against Romeo and Juliet. In the prologue for example, Lucking suggests that "passion

their side when it came down to them being together. Lucking claims that Romeo and Juliet were never meant to meet, thus why time seems to work

circumvented, and it is time in its character as destroyer that presides over the latter part of the play" (Lucking. 120). Here, Lucking points out that

At the start of the play, Shakespeare immediately informs the audience of this hostility when Gregory and Sampson, two Capulet servants, are on stage.
When the Montagues enter, Gregory tells Sampson, "Draw thy tool. Here comes / of the house of Montagues" (1.1.32–33). As if the Capulets and
Montagues are in the midst of battle, Gregory is ready to fight. The fact that his immediate instinct was to take out his sword and fight them shows he
doesn't like them. The hatred limits the actions of Romeo, a Montague, and Juliet, a Capulet, by forcing them to see each other only in private
throughout the rest of the play. When Juliet and Romeo first express their love towards each other, Romeo is in the Capulet's garden and Juliet is on
her balcony. Juliet says to herself, "Romeo, doff thy name, / And, for thy name, which is no part of thee, / Take all myself" (2.2.50

that she loves everything about Romeo except his name. She recommends that he get rid of his last name, which is the only reason her family does not

Secrecy In Romeo And Juliet Essay
Mahatma Gandhi once said, "An eye for an eye will make the whole world blind." Known as one of the most famous plays about love, Romeo and
Juliet by William Shakespeare is a play about the fatal love of two children born to feuding families. The feud between the Montagues and the
Capulets was not only a battle between two warring families, but it serves as a barrier between two "star–crossed lovers" (Prologue. 6). This feud,
introduced in the beginning of the play, serves as the catalyst for the all the conflicts in the play. Hatred between these two families, made them blind to
the love sprouting between their children. The families strife is the backbone of the play, and without it, no conflict would have happened. The feud
was the reason for Romeo and Juliet's deaths because of the secrecy of their romance, the web of miscommunication, and the banishment of Romeo.
The feud between the Capulets and the Montagues led to the secrecy of Romeo and Juliet's romance. It is solely because of the fear of their parents'
strife that their forbidden love was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secrecy caused more issues than simply secrecy itself, but as secrecy acted, other events appeared that also factored into Romeo and Juliet's deaths.
Because Romeo cannot ask Capulet for Juliet's hand because of the feud, Friar marries them secretly. As a result, Capulet is ignorant about this and
agrees to let Paris marry Juliet. (3.4.21–22) Juliet then goes to Friar Lawrence, who unwittingly sets in motion the events that leads to the lovers'
tragic deaths. In addition, ignorance of Lord Capulet to the events, caused him to move the day of the marriage of Paris and Juliet up a day.
(4.2.21–22) This by itself created multiple issues regarding timing, such as shortening the time that the letter from Friar Lawrence had to be delivered
to Romeo, and causing Juliet to take her potion a day

Problems Revealed In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet is a famous play. which deals with tragic love between two supposed enemies. William Shakespeare, the author of the play is
universally known as a magnificent poet who wrote numerous famous poems, comedies, histories, and tragedies. Shakespeare crafted a tragic love
story with problems between parents and children, negative effects of long–standing quarrels, and fate, luck, and coincidence as central themes.
Without these themes, Romeo and Juliet would not be the catastrophic love story that is so well known and appreciated today. Firstly, Shakespeare
wrote Romeo and Juliet with the theme of problems among parents and children. One problem that was displayed was in the first scene when Romeo
is unable to tell his father why... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The star–crossed lovers meet because of fate. What are the chances of two sworn enemies meeting let alone falling in love? The stars led Romeo
and Juliet together. The servant can not read, asks Romeo to read the quest list, and Benvolio pushes Romeo to go to the masquerade. It is out of
Romeo and Juliet's control that they met; it was fate. Shakespeare also explores the idea of fate in his play by letting the audience know certain things
about his characters. In the prologue of the play, Shakespeare tells the audience what is going to happen to the Romeo and Juliet: "from forth the fatal
loins of these two foes, A pair of star–cross'd lovers take their life;" (prologue 5–6). This introduces the idea of fate into the play and prepares the
audience for what is to come The idea that the lovers will take a different path is suggested throughout the play. Coincidence is also a theme written
throughout Romeo and Juliet. For example, it is a coincidence Paris is at Capulet's tomb the same time Romeo is. It is late at night and Paris had
already gone to Juliet's service. It is a coincidence Paris is there at the tomb that ultimately got him killed. Shakespeare's tragic play made great use of
fate, luck, and coincidence, especially at crucial moments in the

Three Day Relationship Between Romeo And Juliet

  • 1. Three Day Relationship Between Romeo And Juliet Love Story or Barely Legal Three Day Relationship? The defintion of love is "to need or require; benefit greatly from" (Dictionary.com). This emotion is very prevalent in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet loved one another so much, they literally died for that love. However, they were not the only ones to blame for this unfortunate event. Benvolio, Lady Capulet, and the Capulet and Montague families were also to blame. Benvolio brought Romeo to the party where he met Juliet, Lady Capulet kept pressuring Juliet to marry Paris, and the Capulet and Montague families kept tearing Romeo and Juliet apart. Benvolio played a very big role in the death of them both because he is responsible for the two of them meeting. In the play, Benvolio tells Romeo to stop moping around about Rosaline and start looking for someone else. "ROMEO O, teach ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She kept pressuring Juliet to marry Paris when Juliet didn't want to. Lady Capulet even asks Juliet's opinion on the matter, but does not take it into consideration. "LADY CAPULET Speak briefly, can you like of Paris' love? JULIET I'll look to like, if looking liking move: But no more deep will I endart mine eye Than your consent gives strength to make it fly" (1.3.96–99). Lady Capulet clearly asks Juliet if she likes Paris. Juliet basically says that she doesn't really, and that she will like whom she chooses. Later on, however, Lady Capulet says that Juliet is marrying Paris on a Thursday morning. "LADY CAPULET Marry, my child, early next Thursday morn, The gallant, young and noble gentleman, The County Paris, at Saint Peter's Church, Shall happily make thee there a joyful bride" (3.5.113–116). Lady Capulet does not know, however, that Juliet is already married. Later on in this scene, Juliet, begs her father and mother to not force her to marry Paris. • 2. Is The Meaning Of The Song Romeo And Juliet By Taylor Swift Romeo and Juliet "Love Story" by Taylor Swift. In the song "Love Story" if you actually read the words you can understand the meaning of the lyrics. It's not just about Taylor's same old problem with her ex boyfriend, this song was made to be based on this play. Romeo and Juliet is about 2 paramours fighting for a love so strong. As for the play, if you actually think about what they're saying the story comes to life. The lyrics "We were both young when I first saw you" explains that Romeo and Juliet were actually pretty young when they first saw each other. "I sneak out to the garden to see you, we keep quiet cause we're dead if they knew.." This explains that in Scene 2 of this Act, act 2. Juliet is on her balcony talking to herself about how amazing Romeo is, while Romeo sneaks in to see her. They keep quiet because Romeo is a Capulet while Juliet is a Montague, and if either side found out about them, it would be bad news especially if Juliet's kinsman found out he was in the Capulets yard. In the song the lyrics go, "This love is difficult, but it's real." explains the many obstacles they had to overcome. While almost everyone was looking from the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "We Found Love" is one of the most catchy songs for this play. This song would fit in perfectly at the beginning of the story in Act 1 Scene 5. Romeo and Juliet fell in love with each other, but with being a Capulet and being a Montague, they fell in love in a hopeless place which kind of reflects on or mirrors the lyrics, "We found love in a hopeless place." They had to keep their love a secret since Juliet is a Capulet and Romeo is a Montague. It makes sense because the Montagues are not friends with the Capulets and want nothing to do with each other. "Yellow Diamonds in the light, we were standing side by side, as your shadow crosses mine, what it takes to come alive." Completely describes the background when Romeo and Juliet were together after Romeo sneaks in to see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Blame In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet Blame is to find fault with or to hold responsible. Habitually, people resort to holding responsibilities over others in order to eliminate the blame off of themselves. With a conclusion as tragic as the one in Shakespeare's famous play, Romeo and Juliet, the factors to blame for their death are countless, but the most remarkable factors to blame for the young couple's deaths are the Capulet family and Romeo and Juliet themselves. In a way, Romeo and Juliet are to blame for their own death. Impulsiveness, such as that displayed by Romeo and Juliet, may lead people to perform dodgy actions. In Act 1 of Romeo and Juliet, the young couple meet at a party hosted by the Capulets where they unquestionably fall in love in love with each other. Romeo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The young Capulet was raised in a household where her father would abuse Juliet both verbally and emotionally, including some suggestions of physical abuse. When Lady Capulet announces to Juliet that she is not to be sad for her cousin's death, because she is to be wed to Paris, Juliet refuses to do such as she still loves Romeo. As Capulet hears of Juliet's decline to marriage, he bursts into a rage, calling Juliet worthless for being his only child and not doing anything for the sake of his status. Capulet's anger goes to extreme lengths as he threatens to drag her to the church and expresses his anger at Juliet by announcing he feels the urge to hurt her. As a result of experiencing this damage throughout her childhood, Juliet may have viewed Romeo as a way to escape her father and his abusive ways. In this case, Juliet stabbed herself after seeing Romeo dead, because she could not have survived a world where she must return back to her father and Paris without Romeo. Not only was her father a damaging influence on Juliet, but her mother and nurse affected her in a negative way. Act 1, Scene 3 opens with Lady Capulet asking Nurse for Juliet so that she can ask Juliet for her opinion on getting married. • 4. The Character Of Romeo Montague in William Shakespeare's... The Character Of Romeo Montague in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet Romeo is one of the main characters in Shakespeare's play "Romeo and Juliet" and is portrayed as a tragic figure, who is guided by his destiny. Shakespeare initially introduces Romeo to be a romantic sentimentalist, who is over–obsessed with his own emotions. Romeo, however, loses these personality traits towards the end of the play, and becomes more mature after falling deeply in love with Juliet. His love for her is strong and over–whelming, and Shakespeare vividly represents this by dramatic visual moments throughout the play, culminating in the tragic climax of Romeo's suicide, to join with his Juliet in death.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is one of the many themes that Shakespeare provides to suggest foreboding early on in the play. The omen is ambiguous as it firstly implies Romeo is worrying about something that will not happen and is generally nervous about arriving uninvited. However, it could imply that in going to the Ball, he will meet Juliet, which will cause drastic events to happen, and eventually lead to both their deaths. This is one of the main themes during the play and is successfully entwined in Romeo's script to introduce foreboding to the audience without the character realising it. He disregards the omen, and continues with his friends to the Ball. On arrival, he seeks Rosaline, but his attentions rapidly divert to Juliet Capulet, "She seems to hang upon the cheek of night" displays Romeo's persona to be fickle and to have a fluctuating nature. He had before thought Rosaline to be beautiful, but now he sees Juliet as the most beautiful woman in the world. This is one of the more romantic traits of Romeo, and Shakespeare uses many metaphors and similes in Romeo's speech and successfully interlaces them to represent the poetic and child–like wonder that Romeo experiences when he sets eyes on Juliet. Romeo's role is consistent throughout as 'The Romantic Lover', ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Love In Romeo And Juliet Essay William Shakespeare uses a range of techniques to convey the theme of love in Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is play about the tragedy of a couple desperately in love and want to marry, however, their parents forbid it as they are both from enemy families. Romeo is a Montague and the Juliet is a Capulet. Juliet's parents wants her to marry someone of their choosing instead, in which Juliet did not truly love, and they would disown her if she were to not do so. William Shakespeare conveys the theme of love by introducing two families with an ancient grudge among other characters. The Montagues, and the Capulets. Romeo, a Montague, also Friar Lawrence's son, goes to Juliet's (a Capulet), party by invitation from Mercutio, Romeo's cousin. Juliet is 14 years old, and getting ready to marry. Her parents, Lord and Lady Capulet, want her to wed Paris, who is pretty much just a random guy in which her parents see fit to marry their daughter. The Capulets also have Tybalt, the son of Lady Capulet's brother, Juliet's Cousin and also Romeo's enemy. Prince Escalus, who is the Prince of Verona, the symbol of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To start, Shakespeare uses daggers and swords as a symbol of death, the idea of violence, rage and revenge. The frequent "civil wars" between the Montague and Capulet families show the rampant feelings and emotions of the characters in the play. Another important use of symbolism in Romeo and Juliet is the poison. Poison has both a literal purpose in the play (eg. The suicide of Romeo) and also used as a symbol for hatred, feud (eg. The battle between the Capulet and Montague family), but also love. When Romeo finds Juliet is dead, he drinks poison he bought from the Apothecary, symbolizing Romeo's unbridled love for Juliet, and how he just cannot live without her, "Here's to my love! O true apothecary! Thy drugs are quick. Thus I die with a kiss". (Act V, Scene iii, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Who Was Responsible For The Deaths Of Romeo And Juliet The play "Romeo and Juliet" written by Shakespeare was a tragedy. A tragedy is an event that causes great suffering. "Romeo and Juliet" is a tragedy that includes the death of six people. Two kids who were "in love" weren't allowed to be together because of their families feud. They claimed to be "in love," but the truth is, this was a play about two teenagers lusting for sex. This lusting ultimately led to their untimely deaths. The Capulets and Montagues were the ultimate cause of the tragic death of Romeo and Juliet. The Capulets and Montagues freud was so bad that when Romeo enters the Capulet's party Tybalt became jealous. Tybalt's jealousy lead to anger which made him want to fight Romeo. Mercutio who was innocent and just wanted peace between the families tried to help Romeo and lost his life, Tybalt's anger and jealousy lead to his murder by Romeo. The lovers meet and attempt to get married but there love comes crashing down and they both end up committing suicide. People have always been wondering whose fault it was when they killed themselves and my theory revolves around 3 people/ groups whose names are the Capulet household, Juliet and Friar Lawrence. These 3 characters/group play a very important role in Romeo and Juliet's death because of the impact they made on their marriage. • 8. Montague And Juliet In William Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet Blame, assigning the responsibility for a fault or wrong. A play about two star–crossed lovers leaves their tragic ending to the question of, who is responsible? Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, explores the many possibilities of who is to blame for the deaths of Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. Through his use of characterization and conflict, Shakespeare proves that families should carry the blame as a whole. Illustrating how the Capulets parent their child compared to the Montague techniques is one of many ways Shakespeare shows the role of family in blame. Juliet and her parents had been discussing an arranged marriage between Juliet and County Paris. Unfortunately, Romeo has already married Juliet so she is unable to follow her parents' wishes. Juliet attempts to express her desire to not marry Paris when her father becomes enraged and says, "But, an you will not wed, I'll pardon you. Graze where you will, you shall not house with me," (3.4.215–216). The Capulets are remarkably strict parents and expect their daughter to abide by them at all times. The threat to disown her if she doesn't marry the man picked for her makes this very clear. Before Juliet met Romeo she did what was asked of her, however, when Romeo was in the picture he gave her a taste of what she had been restricted from. Nevertheless, the sense of rebellion had drawn Juliet to Romeo. Consequently, the desire for this new feeling led Juliet to make drastic decisions without thinking. ... Juliet, a 13 years old girl, belongs to the Capulet Family. Romeo, aged at around 16, belongs to the Montague family. The two lovers cross paths and the next day they are already married. When nurse's character answers, 'Indeed. Heavens, I can tell [Juliet's] age to the exact hour' (pg. 53), it becomes apparent to the audience the love and importance of Juliet in nurse's life. Through creating a close bond between Nurse and Juliet, Shakespeare demonstrates the love between the two characters, in spite of the hatred of society on the lower class, thus reaffirming, that love overpowers hatred of social class. An illustration of the idea that love triumphs hatred is explored when Romeo insults the Nurse by saying, 'What wilt thou tell her, nurse? Thou dost not mark me' (Pg.136). Shakespeare utilises this quote to emphasis the disrespectful mannerism which the upper class treated the lower class. They prove their love for each other by going behind their parents' backs to meet, to be together and to be married before meeting an untimely death. Deciding who is ultimately responsible for their tragic end can be difficult as there are so many people who play a significant role in their lives and who have an influence on how the play unfolds. Firstly, although Romeo and Juliet are the protagonists of the play that doesn't mean they do not share in some of the blame. Act 3 Scene 5 Line 167–168 Once again, the rebellious nature of teenagers could come into play; Capulet wants Juliet to marry Paris but she remains stubborn. This is also a great example of how the parents in the play pay little notice to what their children want. In this scene Juliet makes it obvious that her happiness doesn't lie with Paris yet her father ignores this and tells her to marry him or be disowned. However some people will step up to defend the parents and suggest they only wanted the best for their children, like any parent does. Perhaps what was best was that Romeo and Juliet should not have met. We don't know the full details of the feud, perhaps no one in the play does, there may be a good reason for it but there may not. Also, nowadays it is perhaps easier to say the parents are to blame for being absent as we are used to seeing parents play a much larger role in their children's lives. This play was written in Elizabethan times when it was common for noble families, such as the Capulets and Montagues, to employ a nurse to raise their children. One cannot really fault the parents if, in Elizabethan society's eyes, they were acting accordingly. On the subject of society, arranged marriages were probably common as well between wealthy families and were seen as the normal and proper thing. Whether it be the massacre of over 800,000 people that the Rwandan Genocide caused in a mere hundred days, or the long–lasting conflict between the Montagues and Capulets in Romeo and Juliet. Rwanda is a small landlocked country within Africa that is about the size of Maryland (Beauchamp, 2014). The Hutu people are in the majority, making up 85 percent of the population, while Tutsis made up 14 percent of the population ("United Human Rights Council"). The mass genocide began a day after the assassination on April 7, 1994 and lasted until July 16, 1994 (Beauchamp, 2014). The genocide ended when the Rwandan Patriotic Front defeated the Hutu perpetrator regime and a new president rose to power, President Paul Kagame. When the destruction ended in July, over two million Hutus fled from Rwanda. • 29. How Does Shakespeare Create Tension In Romeo And Juliet "A pair of star–cross'd lovers" in the classic tale Romeo and Juliet, is written by the famous playwright William Shakespeare. In the midst of the Capulet and Montague's ancient grudge and hatred for one another, Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montague are confronted with a forbidden lust separated by their family's feud. The story explores love, hatred, death and forgiveness, depicted through the stylistic features that Shakespeare employs to portray tension between the Montague and Capulet families. The tale of Romeo and Juliet sees their love trial among an endless brawl of hatred with many consequences. The opening scene introduces conflict between the two families through their slave's dialogue, "I will bite my thumb at them, which is a disgrace." Shakespeare already establishes within the first scene the hatred that both families have for each other that even their help and staff cannot stand one another. Shakespeare explains that if it was not for Juliet being a Capulet and similarly, Romeo a Montague, there love would be free to flourish. On the flip side it also shows the tension between families for their love must be kept secret. The main reason was the feud between the Capulets and Montagues. I also think it had a lot to do with Tybalt and his "anger issues." Also I think Fate played a big part in their deaths too. First of all, I think if the families didn't have a big feud and didn't hate each other then Romeo and Juliet would still be alive. If it didn't matter that Romeo was a montague then I think The Capulet wouldn't have cared that Juliet married Romeo. An example in the book is when Capulet and Montague are threatening each other. Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a prime example of this. This play is a tale of two people, parts of two warring families, falling in love at first sight. As decided by fate, the two teenagers eventually lead themselves to their death as a result of their love. At this point Romeo is aware he should not attend the party of his enemy yet he goes anyway. Romeo fears that this party will lead him to some consequence so he is extremely hesitant to accept the invitation from his friends to get over his most recent love Rosaline. Despite passionate affection, the fates of tragic lovers are "written in the stars," or predetermined by some divine force. Although Romeo and Juliet scheme up many ways to be together, it is almost certain that they have no hand in their fate; they are merely being pushed along by fate and their destiny. In the opening prologue, Shakespeare uses the chorus as a first tool to introduce the idea of fate. The chorus informs the audience that Romeo and Juliet are "star cross'd lovers [that] take their life" (Prologue. 6). Lucking claims that Romeo and Juliet were never meant to meet, thus why time seems to work against them through out the play. However, Friar Laurence, as Lucking states, "Friar Laurence uses time to defeat time, time is not so easily circumvented, and it is time in its character as destroyer that presides over the latter part of the play" (Lucking. 120). As if the Capulets and Montagues are in the midst of battle, Gregory is ready to fight. The fact that his immediate instinct was to take out his sword and fight them shows he doesn't like them. The hatred limits the actions of Romeo, a Montague, and Juliet, a Capulet, by forcing them to see each other only in private throughout the rest of the play. Known as one of the most famous plays about love, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a play about the fatal love of two children born to feuding families. The feud between the Montagues and the Capulets was not only a battle between two warring families, but it serves as a barrier between two "star–crossed lovers" (Prologue. 6). This feud, introduced in the beginning of the play, serves as the catalyst for the all the conflicts in the play. Hatred between these two families, made them blind to the love sprouting between their children. The families strife is the backbone of the play, and without it, no conflict would have happened.
