Romeo and Juliet Essay examples
Romeo and Juliet Four hundred years ago, the literary genius William Shakespeare wrote The
Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, a world–renowned play that continues that capture the imagination
and emotions of people around the globe. The drama portrays the passionate, violent and often
desperate lives of the youth of Verona, Italy. Even today, the tragedy resembles a blue
–print of the
problems that the adolescents of the twentieth century must face each day. Parental influence, young
love and the revenge code all have a direct and evident effect on the lives of young people today.
These issues continue to cause physical, mental and emotional strain for many teenagers. The
ever–present influence of parents played a major part...show more content...
In today's society, youth are constantly advocating the change from total dependence on family, to
their own independence. Young people often think they know better than their parents, often
believing that instead of helping them, they are only punishing them. Young love is the often
notorious, ever–changing emotion that enthralls adolescents. When a boy sees a beautiful girl,
with nice, blonde hair, and long, shapely legs, he often thinks that he is in love. That is similar to
the emotion Romeo experienced: "To call hers, exquisite, in question more. These happy masks
that kiss fair ladies' brow, Being black, puts us in mind they hide the fair. He that is stricken blind
cannot forget The precious treasure of his eyesight lost. Show me a mistress that is passing fair;
What doth her beauty serve but as a note Where I may read who passed the passing fair? Farewell.
Thou canst not teach me to forget." (I,i,238–246) Here, Romeo is saying how much he loves
Rosaline, and that he cannot forget about her. However, a couple of scenes later, his love quickly
changes: "O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night
As a rich jewel in an Ethiop's ear – Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear. So shows a snowy

Act III Scene V
This is a very important scene. Select and comment on key moments for the audience in this scene.
What are some of the differences in attitudes between then and now?
Romeo and Juliet are waking up together after there first night of being man and wife. The
beginning of this scene is very important because it shows the readers how much Romeo and Juliet
actually love each other, they do not want to sep. Juliet begins by suggesting that they have been
awakened by the nightingale and therefore it must still be night:...show more content...
This point in the scene makes the audience feel compassionate for their separation as they clearly
love each other so intensely.
The next key point in this scene is after the Nurse has warned Romeo and Juliet of Lady Capulet's
proximity. Romeo is about to leave out of the window and is saying his last words to Juliet. He
makes a promise to her that he will not forget to keep in touch:
"I will omit no opportunity That may convey my greetings, love to thee."
When Romeo is below Juliet's window before he leaves, Juliet looks down and sees Romeo's grave
with him in it. This premonition is an example of the Irony in this scene, because death and both
Romeo and
Juliet come together near the end of the play. Juliet's premonition also has an effect on what the
audience feel about the events that may occur after this scene. It makes the think what could come
about of this premonition and why. Is Romeo going to die and if he does is it because of Juliet?
The exit of Romeo brings to another key scene in the play. This is where Lady Capulet enters and
brings with her a sudden change in mood and pace of speech. The romance is gone and the mood
which Lady
Capulet perceives as Juliet's grief for her cousin Tybalt is really her sadness of Romeo leaving. The
audience is shown the miss–conception of Lady Capulet when Juliet plays on words and makes it
seem like she wants to kill Romeo as

Romeo Juliet Reflection
Alright, I had no idea that this was a retelling of Romeo and Juliet when I started this book. But I
can tell you this, it did not take me long to figure it out. We have two feuding families, a pair of
star–crossed lovers, and some serious hate going on. There is even the mention of duels rather than
fistfights – though those abound aplenty. The Weight of Feathers was a breathtakingly beautiful
retelling of one of the most beloved Shakespeare plays of all time. Now, I will be frank. I am not
one of those who love Romeo and Juliet. I actually hate it. I hated the play when I read it in high
school, I hated the 1968 version of the film, I hated the 1996 version of the film with Leonardo
DiCaprio, and I hated the most recent version with Hailee Steinfeld. Don't get me wrong here
people, I absolutely love Shakespeare – this is just that one play I loathe. But, never fear! This book
completely took everything I hate about Romeo and Juliet and threw it out the window....show more

The Corbeaus and the Palomas hate each other with a burning passion. They have tried to kill
members in the past, they have beaten members near death, they have done everything in their
respective powers to make the other family miserable. But, the best part? No one has any idea
why. They hate each other, but no one has a clear reason. The Palomas think that the Corbeau's
murdered Lace, our protagonist's, grandfather by using their "black magic" to sink in the ground
and cause the lake they performed in to swallow everything in the forest. The Corbeaus believe
that a Paloma was the reason for Cluck's, our male protagonist, grandfather losing his job because
of a rape allegation back in the day. So, basically: Palomas say one thing, Corbeaus say

Essay on Marriage in Romeo and Juliet
Marriage in Romeo and Juliet In Shakespeare's play "Romeo and Juliet", he portrays the idealistic
perception of love in Shakespeare's time. He shows how the partner's wealth and social background
was the main factor in marriage, as opposed to modern day passionate love, which is drawn by
attraction and compatibility. Arranged marriages were accepted by the people from the time without
any consideration of happiness. But if our parents controlled our marriages we would rebel
excessively. In "Romeo and Juliet" it shows for the first time emotional attachment divergent to the
conventional filial duty. In the play he shows love is the main ingredient to a strong unity. That there

Romeo relationship with Rosaline proved this, a couple days before he met Juliet he was madly
in love with Rosaline, " a right good marksman, and she's fair I love" showing that he is very
capable of changing from one love to another, so maybe he doesn't know what love really is? With
Juliet only being 13 in our day its unconventional and a bit perverted and most importantly against
the law.
Although the setting of the play "Verona" suggests love was meant to happen here. The scene
where they first meet builds up a lot of tension, the second he lays his eyes on her he says "if I
profane with my unworthiness hand, this holy shrine, the gentle sin is this" Juliet's response to this
was "good pilgrim you do wrong your hand to much, which mannerly devotion shows this" the two
quotes show a strong love connection, when they had only just met a second ago. Also if someone
is willing to kill themselves because they think their lovers dead, it has to be true love, but then it
could have been from the drive from their parents?
Romeo is the type of person who loves everyone except his enemies. He shows love and hate
towards everyone. Whenever he saw Juliet he would tell her how much he loved her, if he saw
another Capulet he would start a fight, showing he has very mixed emotions. People generally have
mixed emotions about
