Sun Hye Mi’s blog is addressed around korean
skincare and beauty, on her blog she writes reviews
about korean skincare and makeup products that helps
her target audience to get more information about the
products and recommendation from her as a beauty blogger.
The mode of address that mainly have been used by the
blogger is personal. This may be seen because she directly
addresses the audience and talks about her personal
experience and opinion. For example, when she wrote ‘ I
often saw women who purchased skin care products for oily
skin thinking it was for dry skin’ , here she uses personal
mode where she talks from her experience, which makes
the text look informal to some extent. Further more when
she says ‘ There’s a helpful little guide I wrote to give you some suggestions on a good Korean
products for dry to sensitive skin’ here we can see that she directly addresses the target
audience which also makes the text informal and personal as it may seem like she is having a
conversation with the audience.
Font style is pretty simple , the blogger uses
arial font about the size of 14, we can also
see some words in the colour of red which is
hyperlinked to other articles within her blog.
This makes the product more easily read and
structured. By including simplicity within the front and the size we can see that it is addressed
from the professional production point of view.
No columns have been seen in the outlet of an article, because it is in a website format, the
usual size paragraphs have been used in order to present the product. The title for the blog
article is in arial format which is about a size of 18 in the colour of baby pink. which is followed
by the picture that takes most of the space with the same title ,
it may have been used to catch audiences attention.
Because the main purpose of the article is to review and
distribute the information about the korean skincare products for
the target audience with the dry and sensitive skin, the blogger
present to us full size pictures of the products and its
description down below.
2. On the other hand we have a BBC is well respected
news authority that has a broadcasting station , I will
talk about BBC News official website, which style is
really different from the blog above. The mode of
address is formal and the writer is talking in the 3rd
person. It is done to make the information that is
given to the audience more reliable and professional,
also to make the writer seem as a right person to be
authorised to inform the audience about the latest
news. For example, within the article there is
a line saying ‘Unemployment has continued to fall in
Britain, while wage growth outpaced inflation at the
fastest rate almost in five years’, there is no personal
mode of address within the sentence as in the rest of
the article, which shows the reliability of an article.
Within the article the writer doesn’t express his own
opinion on the topic, this can be seen because there
was no personal mode of address within the article which did not showed the interaction with
the audience which left the artical authentic and formal which made it look more reliable.
Font style is Arial in the font size 11, we may see font in bold where the important information is
emphasized, the subheading is also in a bigger font size which is about size 14, this is done to
show differentiate the title of the article and the article itself and to catch audiences attention
and to guideline what the audience should read first.Also the blue writing indicates that there is
a hyperlink to the keywords that are in the blue writing. With the simple font it makes the article
more readable and understandable.
The layout of a website itself is really simple , there is a header content bar at the top , main
content which is an article in the centre, and side columns at the right of a webpage which
makes it easier for audience to surf, and see the latest news.
There a pictures, diagrams and two videos embedded in the article which is used as the
evidence of what the article is talking about, which makes the information more trustworthy.
Both of the articles purposes is to inform, however the form of informing is really different as
both of the sources have different purposes and the target audience. The level of trust and
reliability that target audience is looking for is far different as well as two sources talk about
completely different topics. The reputation of both sources differs dramatically as the BBC is
well known news broadcaster since 1922 which has a government approval of its
trustworthiness. Where as Sun Hye Mi’s beauty blog have been launched in recent years and
have yet to gain its reputation by its target audience. The way that Sun Hye Mi resents her topic
is really personal and she talks about her experiences and her recommendations to whatever
product she have used and reviewed on. It is less reliable as she can only speak from her point
of view and that the views can differentiate which makes her beauty blog unreliable to some
extent depending on her target audience. It is less likely to affect her website views as the topic
of her blog is really wide. Also to directly addressing the audience it is more likely to create a
3. friendly environment within the website as it may seem like she is engaging the audience which
makes them feel important.
Because the BBC is well known news broadcaster, it is really important to present their product
in the highest and most reliable quality as possible.
