The document summarizes a study on the socio-economic profile of fishermen around Chhirpani Reservoir in Chhattisgarh, India. It finds that most fishermen are adult males from nuclear families, with primary education and low income levels. Their primary occupation is agriculture but some also fish. Fishermen face issues like poaching, lack of storage, and high ice costs. The reservoir provides livelihood but fishermen would benefit from improved infrastructure, technology, and support from fisheries departments.

• To understand the present socio-economic condition
of fishermen, study is required to understand the
present status.
3. 1. To assess the socio-economic profile of fishermen in
the periphery of Chhirpani Reservoir.
2. To understand the problem faced by fishermen in the
periphery of the Chhirpani Reservoir.
4. •Primary Data were collected using pre-structured questionnaires
and Focus Group Discussion.
•Secondary Data collected from various sources such as journal,
magazines, annual reports, fisheries department , etc.
•The collected were tabulated and analyse using percentage
analysis in MS excel.

Problem faced by fishermen
17. Conclusion
• In the present study, it was found that the
highest (80%) fishermen were adult group(26-
40)are dominant due to physical strength.
• 93% fishermen are married and adults have an
experience of 6-10 years in fishing activity.
• 76% respondent having primary occupation as an
Agriculture and 33% are engaging in fishery as
secondary occupation.
• Income level of the fishermen i.e. 70% are BPL,
16.66% were EPL and 13.33% were APL. Due to
income level of fishermen their house type i.e.
86% were kuccha, 13.66% were semi pucca.
