In-Class Reflection
Highlights of my activities:
As a part of the required activities for the course EGR9220 "Teaching in Higher Education Practicum" at
Villanova University, I have had the opportunity to teach a few sessions for CEE2105 for fall semester 2017,
supervised by Dr. David Dinehart. On Wednesday November 1st, I recorded two lectures to be posted on the
blackboard and viewed by students prior to their in–class session on the following Friday and Monday. I received
the PowerPoint slides for those recorded session from Dr. Dinehart, however, added certain material to them with
his consent. In particular, I added a nine–step problem solving procedure to be implemented during in–class
sessions, 37 and 38. The total duration of the recorded sessions was about 26 minutes. The first recording was
titled "Centroids of the composite areas", and the second recording was titled "Centroid of composite areas, lines,
and volumes".
On Friday November 3rd, I instructed two in–class problem solving sessions from 8:30' AM to 9:20' AM, and
from 9:30' AM to 10:20' AM, both on the topic of centroids of composite areas. From the two in–class sessions,
the second session was recorded and posted on the blackboard webpage as well. The problems and solutions for
both sessions were provided by Dr. Dinehart, and per his request, I tried my best to comply with his formatting in
writing of the material on the touchscreen. At the end of both sessions, questionnaires that were previously
designed by myself were

Self Help Group Of Rural Assam
SELF–HELP GROUP OF RURAL ASSAM AND ITS ROLE IN WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Dr. Polee Saikia1
1 Associate Professor, Department of Education, Gauhati University, Assam, India.
ABSTRACT:
Women empowerment is a universal issue. Women empowerment refers to the creation of an environment for
women where they can make decisions of their own for their personal benefits as well as for the society. It refers to
increasing and improving the social, economic, political and legal strength of the women, to ensure equal right to
women and to make them confident enough to claim their rights. The overall development of the nation remains as
a paradox until and unless the women got empowered. The under privileged rural women are still far from
empowerment. Unemployment, illiteracy and low social recognition made them so. Presently the self–help groups
that mushrooming in different corners of rural Assam have been creating opportunities for women to be
empowered. Here in this study an attempt has been made to study whether the rural women got scope to get
empowered by getting engagement in self–help groups. 40 women from 04 self–help groups, 13 literate and 27
illiterate women were taken as sample for the study. To collect first hand data self structured questionnaire and self
structured interview schedule were prepared by the investigators. Percentage was used to analyze data.

Evaluation Of A Report On The Audit
Methodology
The audit will be conducted on an approximate 4 wards, these wards comprise the individuals most likely to be
'high risk' and in need of a 'red tray', such wards include:
1. Stroke ward
2. Elderly ward
3. Rehabilitation ward
4. Paediatric ward
The data for the audit will be collected from patients and ward/nursing staff in these wards. The data will be
collected from 95% of the patients in each ward and 95% of ward staff in each ward. The data will be collected via
3 different sources:
1. 95% of the patients in the 4 selected wards will be distributed a qualitative questionnaire to identify patient
views on the RTS, & to see if the RTS is being properly implemented (See appendix C). The data will be collected

However, the audit tools are reliable and can be easily repeated by others.
The observations of mealtimes (See appendix E) will be analysed by distributing the collected data on a bar chart;
where the data can be interpreted more efficiently by displaying the total numbers of patients who require
assistance, receive assistance and receive red trays across all the observations for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The analysis of the patients questionnaire may be time consuming, as it's in paper format – meaning that the
questions and respondent data will have to be manually transferred into spreadsheet software, with each question
assigned a column, and row for each person's answer, with each answer being assigned a 'code'. Once all the data
from each questionnaire has been entered in the spreadsheet; it should be checked for accuracy. The data can then
be transferred to a bar chart, to display the data, for simple analysis.
The ward staff questionnaire (See Appendix D) is quantitative and can be analysed by reading the questionnaires,
putting them into categories and assigning 'codes'. Though, this is a time–consuming method and highly subjective
with the questionnaires having an increased risk of being interpreted incorrectly.
Ethics & Confidentiality
One major ethical concern is to make sure informed consent is given by the patients to allow for (1) the conduction
of observations on them during mealtimes and (2) their participation in questionnaires. Patients

Palmas Del Mar
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Palmas del Mar History
What is now Palmas del Mar Conference Resort Hotel began as San Antonio Beach Resort in the late '60s. The
resort had a salt–water pool and a children's playground plus horseback riding, fishing, and boating as added
attractions. Always free was a walk along the narrow break–water, an activity that was fun, wet, and challenging,
especially during stormy weather.
The main structure of the present club–house was constructed and new freshwater pools were built in the early
'70s, supposedly so that the resort could be rented out as a casino. The declaration of Martial Law in 1972 put an
end to these plans and since the family was more occupied with real estate developments than with managing ...

Surveys and Experiments
Introduction Surveys and experiments can prove to be an extremely valuable tool that organizations can use to
gain pertinent information. In order to effectively utilize these tools firms must pay careful attention to the design,
methodology, and ethical issues of the experiment chosen. Among these issues are variables in conducting
experiments with human subjects, design elements affecting the accuracy of the experiment, and questions of
methodology. The information below addresses each of these concerns and describes how experiments can become
a valuable tool for organizations to plan for the future. Question 9.4 – Ethical Problems in Conducting

Additionally, it would be important to ensure that one person can take the survey once. If the website saw that the
same IP address re–entered the site, the survey would not be presented. A random assignment of participants to
take the survey would also reduce the amount of repeat surveys. The researcher should determine beforehand how
many positive responses from the survey would indicate an effective advertisement. Now that the experiment has a
design established, it needs participants and a reporting structure (Cooper & Schindler, 2014). In order to not affect
the entire population entering the site, the experiment could use a random assignment of participants for each
survey Question 10.5 – Choosing a Survey Method Choosing a survey method requires comparing data needs
against the advantages and disadvantages of the methods available in each situation (Cooper & Schindler, 2014).
Personal interviews, telephone surveys, and self–administered questionnaires all have positives and negatives in
the amount, style, and timeliness of information provided. Therefore, in order to obtain the needed data, the
advantages and disadvantages of each method should be considered, such as in the examples to follow. Residents'

questions, in spite of missing discriminative value, are beneficial for familiarizing the subject, as well as making
the consultation less threatening (Aertgeerts, et al., 2004). Item responses are scored zero to one, with a higher
score a suggestion of alcohol problems. The total score can range from zero to four (Aertgeerts, et al., 2004). This
screening apparatus is simply administered and scored and can often times be committed to memory. The CAGE
can be used in general medical populations in a primary care setting and be administered at no cost to adults and
adolescents over the age of 16 (Aertgeerts, et al., 2004). It has been distinguished that the CAGE takes less than
one minute to manage and score. However, it does not screen for drug–related difficulties (Aertgeerts, et al.,
2004). The CAGE has been used in numerous cultures worldwide, but often vigilant rendition is essential to
maintain accurateness (Aertgeerts, et al., 2004). However, the CAGE presented with inferior performance than the
AUDIT in recognizing alcohol use disorders amongst African American men, white women, and Mexican
American patients (Bradley, et al., 2007). The CAGE has been found to perform poorly in younger age groups.
Some propose that this is for the reason that the items may be less pertinent to adolescent populations, such as

A Dead Boy
Dewey Skeates had just seen a dead boy. The image had been running through his mind all day. Blood on his chest
and blood on his hands and blood in his mouth. It didn't make any sense. Death didn't exist. It just wasn't
something that was physically possible until someone reached at least one hundred and fifty years of age or so.
The government had issued a statement during the genetic renaissance that said that the whole population had had
their genetic codes altered to allow for enzymes to quickly fix anything that was broken. Dewey being an
incredibly smart boy for his eleven years, a genius one might even call him, was left stumped by the image that
was replaying over and over in his head. He saw no way for death to be possible. His older sister, Ariata, had
suggested that maybe some people could die but no one knew when they did. He had wholeheartedly rejected that
theory, but it left his mind whirring with possibilities. Oh the endless possibilities, he thought to himself.
Several hours after the days gruesome events, Dewey found himself alone in his room, pondering the unlikeliness
of the situation. His room was filled with a myriad of scientific instruments. They were strewn across his floor
along with several pieces of paper covered in calculations and ideas. A hamster cage sat on a table in the corner.
Dewey stared at the cage. It was home to his Hamster Daxel, who was just about as old as Dewey was. Dewey
silently approached the cage wondering if hamsters

Birds In Kate Chopin's The Awakening
Birds are a common sight in most places people tend to be. These winged creatures are seen in bustling places like
the pigeons that are in urban and suburban areas, the woodpeckers in rural regions, the crows on farms, and even
in cages within buildings. In fact, these elegant creatures are so common a sight in society that they are often
overlooked and underappreciated. This is similar to how women were and sometimes still are treated within
society; they are given little appreciation when they are present and doing as they are told, but when they do not do
as they are told they become a problem. This parallel that can be drawn between women and birds is used
throughout Kate Chopin's novel, The Awakening, in which its main character Edna Pontellier is often likened to
and symbolized by a bird. Throughout the novel, the bird acts as a theme and symbol of both Edna and women in
general. To start, many comparisons can be drawn between Edna and an imprisoned bird. The first lines of the
novel describe "[a] green and yellow parrot, which hung in a cage outside the door" (Chopin 5). Starting at the
bird's physical description, the brightly colored feathers of this creature strongly represent the power and ... Show

Though the main character was unable to survive her flight, many other women both in the novel and in reality
were able to embark and finish theirs. And the interesting thing about it is that these fictional and nonfictional
females inspired each other to go forth and attempt their metaphorical and literal journeys even if there is a chance
they are unable to succeed. It is because of these brave birds that women's roles in society have changed so greatly
within the last century. In no other time in history has there been such an expansion in women's rights and roles
and it is all due to women both real and fictional who went against societal

The Probation Officer And Offender Role
The Probation Officer and Offender role has been widely examined, specifically in regards to the effective
management of risk (McNeill, 2009, NOMS 2010). Within this, it is recognised that the relationship between these
individuals is paramount to the effective management of risk and offending behaviour. There have been numerous
working practices introduced throughout the years within the Probation Service to identify effective working
practices including the Effective Practice Principles and latterly, Skills for Effective Engagement, Development
and Supervision known by the acronym SEEDS (Rex & Hosking, 2013). Whilst these have greatly influenced the
work being undertaken by Probation practitioners, the management of risk of ... Show more content on

Title of Study: Social Studies
Problem Statement– How do teenagers my age manage their time and to what extent does it negatively affect their
academic performance?
Reason for selecting area of research– I want to perform this research to compare the way I Manage my time to
how others, my age, manage their time and see how their time management affects their academic performance.
This problem affects me as I don't manage my time very well.
Method of investigation– I have used the questionnaire to pin point different areas of time management. There are
sixteen (16) questions in this questionnaire. The questionnaire should be used because it is easy to distribute, they
can be distributed to a large number of people even if they are dispersed, it is not costly to produce a large number
of questionnaires, data can be easily summed up and it saves the researcher time since a large number can be
administered at the same time.

Data Gathering Essay
Research is a vital tool for education. It is research that gives us the ability to accurately observe broad pools of
student, respond to data, and thus become better educators. Without research, we wouldn 't be able to have great
standard curriculums. But as I learned in this section, research is complicated, detailed, and often labor intensive.
There are many ways to gather information. Each of the many data gathering techniques has their own pros and
cons. Understanding the many different types of data gathering is important, as it keeps us flexible and ready to
enact effectively upon any situation. These types of data gathering techniques include interviews, questionnaires,
and surveys.
Although interviews are not always economic and possible to conduct on broad numbers of students, they are
probably my favorite type of data gathering technique because they are personal and therefore much more likely to
be accurate. The process of interviewing involves an interviewer sitting down with an interviewee to ask
questions. The questions and responses can be more complicated than those of other techniques such as tests or
questionnaires. This is due to the ability of the interviewee to answer in more complicated terms due to the barrier
of transmission being so low. It only takes talking for the interviewee to communicate the info. This is opposed to
the writing of the questionnaire or the way a student is restricted to only a few number of responses on a test. Also,

Data Collection Tool Used For Information About Individuals
A survey is a process of obtaining information or a general view, examination, or description of something. It is a
data collection tool used to gather information about individuals. It has a variety of purposes and can actually be
conducted in many ways. One of the ways is by printed questionnaire, over the telephone, by mail, in person, by
diskette, or on the web. However, the information is collected through the use of standardized procedures. This is
to ensure that every participant is asked the same question in the same way (uniform). It entails asking the
participants for information in a structured format. Notably, the participants being surveyed may be representing
themselves or their organization depending on what is being asked. They may also focus on factual information
about individuals. Generally, surveys are standardized to ensure that they have reliability and validity. This is very
important so that the results can be generalized to the entire population. However, this paper will discuss the
following questions/concerns based on the survey questionnaire answered: my thought on the length of each
survey instrument, my thought on the open minded questions, whether I preferred completing the surveys or open
ended questions, which methodology I believe is most useful in the examination of each variable/construct, and
how this experience might influence my research design.

The Commercialization Of Sport At The United States...
The Commercialization of Sport According to Brad Austin (2015), the US university programs on athletics has
created tangible links between the authorities of the institution and the alumni group in two ways. One is
legitimizing and codifying the alumni interest in men's and women's sports. To do this, they even have provided
alumni representatives in the athletic governing body. The second one, is the coordination of various alumni events
with the yearly homecoming events in the universities of the US. It has been found that the American leaders used
to utilize these homecoming events to rejuvenate the spirit and affinity among the people of the country during the
decades of the early twentieth century. Thus, the universities were used to get affected by this political interest.
This political interest enhanced the initial steps towards commercialization of homecoming. Janet Harvey (2000)
has pointed out that in the last two decades the American homecoming events have witnessed a cultural
transformation towards commercialization. These transformations have long term impact on its audience. The
entertainment packages are now much more an issue of concerns in the mainstream media than the actual sports
event. The popularity has been brought to a great extent by this hip hop culture through commercialization.
Contemporary cultural analysts are mostly concerned about analysing the impact of globalisation on the localised
events like homecoming game tailgate. The celebration

How Appropriate Were The Various Sampling Design Decisions?
Describe the sampling strategy. How appropriate were the various sampling design decisions?
Sampling strategy is a focus on a smaller group to determine the conclusions of the larger population (Cooper &
Schindler, 2014, p. 338). In this instance, the McMahon Group employed both focus groups and mail surveys as
strategies to gather information and the dual approach produced relevant and valuable data for researchers.
Flexible and inexpensive, focus groups consist of six to ten participants (Hartman, 2004, p. 408). Additionally, a
moderator guides the discussion among its panel members that allows researchers to observe real–time verbal
responses and nonverbal cues (Hartman, 2004, p. 402; Cooper & Schindler, 2014, p. 160). Focus groups
moderators also have the ability to introduce new ideas to gain a greater understanding of concerns from
respondents (Hartman, 2004, p. 402). However, a concern with focus group is the lack of anonymity due to the
face–to–face participation.
Also cost effective, the mail surveys specifically targeted the members and their spouses. Postal surveys can target
specific people (necessary for the member and spouse data collection), and allow respondents the ability to answer
the survey at their leisure. On the other hand, mail questionnaires are a slower data gathering method as compared
to internet surveys (Hoonakker & Carayon, 2009, p. 359). Similarly, the possibility of response–based error may
occur if respondents do not correctly

The Development Of Restaurants Industries
Executive Summary
The development of restaurants industries has taken place in modern times of 1900 's. Customer satisfaction
includes things that is done for the comfort and improvement of customers and is provided over the price paid for
the food. Satisfying customers helps in maintaining the morale of restaurants which would help to retain the
customers for longer duration. The satisfaction need not be in providing quality food but also in improving
services given to customers. Customer satisfaction includes providing quality foods at reasonable price.
The study of customer preferences towards restaurants is conducted in the regions of Manipal, and Udupi region
with an objective of understanding the customer's frame of mind with respect to the restaurants and their opinion
about services offered and also to measure their level of satisfaction. The research was conducted with help of both
primary and secondary data. Primary data was collected with the help of a structured questionnaire and personal
interview with the customers and secondary data was collected through magazines and reliable sources of internet.
The whole research focussed on finding out whether the services provided by the restaurants owners could satisfy
the customers.
The findings from the study are presented in the form of charts, graphs and tables. Suggestions are given based on
findings from the study of restaurants for further improvement in the service offered in restaurants. However there

Descriptive Essay About A Boat
I almost stepped foot into what I thought to be my watery grave, but I hesitated as my foot broke the surface of the
water. I thought back to the boat ride out here and my feelings of uneasiness as we rode the waves. The small boat
contained six rows of benches for the tourists to sit at the front of the boat. Directly behind the last row, a captain's
station sat with the controls to steer the boat. Behind the control room, or the back of the boat, sat one long bench.
A metal railing encircled the entire boat, except for a small portion at the back. Resting below the open area,
hooked to the side of the boat, sat a three–rung ladder. I still tasted the wintergreen lifesaver I enjoyed on the car
ride over here. The boat took us three miles off the north shore of Oahu, I couldn't help but admire the beauty of
this paradise. Looking at the green mountains, lined with thick and healthy trees thanks to all the rain, and the
exquisite white beaches, calmed me and helped me forget the anxiety that overcame me. The cold, early morning
ocean breeze pulled my hair back, but no goosebumps graced my skin thanks to the warm sun shining down on us.
My fellow boat passengers all seemed to appear calm while we rode on this death trap that closed the distance
between us and the cage. My idea of fun consisted of reading a book or watching a movie with family and friends,
not jumping into a cage surrounded by sharks. Adventure and risks are not a part of my life. The boat's captains
included five men. Each man had a beard and browned skin from all their time in the sun. Sunglasses rested on
each of their eyes, shielding them from the bright, hot sun. The boat engines loud roar came to a stop, only the
waves crashing against the boat made a sound. The oldest of the five men spoke first. He lifted a crooked, dark
finger and held it over the left side of the boat and exclaimed in a gruff voice, "The cage is over there and you will
need to swim in 15 yards of free water to get to it. If the sharks come at you just hit their nose." Looks of terror
graced every traveler's face. The looks didn't fade until another one of the boat's crew spoke up telling us that the
older man played that joke on every tour group. I studied the man

Quality Measurement Tool : Evaluating Patient Satisfaction...
Quality Measurement Tool Evaluating patient satisfaction shows that there is a link between employee attitudes
and patient satisfaction scores (Ransom, Maulik, Nash & Ransom, 2012). If employees are unhappy or
dissatisfied, it is difficult to conceal this when interacting with patients and other staff members. The primary
reason for evaluating employee satisfaction is to attempt to identify the problem and try to resolve them before an
impact on patient care can be seen (Ransom et al., 2012). There are two main types of surveys to evaluate
employee satisfaction; interviews and questionnaires (Ransom et al., 2012). Interviews may be more advantages as
they allow the interviewer a chance for follow up questions, but run the risk of receiving untruthful answers due to
a lack of trust. Questionnaires allow the same survey to be admitted to a large group of people, however these too
can create fear in employees of being identified. Questionnaires must be careful of how questions are worded as to
not be misinterpreted (Ransom et al., 2012). The Quality Measurement Project The goal of this project is to
identify the source of Radiology employee satisfaction or lack thereof. A short questionnaire will be sent out
electronically to allow anonymity to allow freedom in answers. There should be core questions related to general
satisfaction, from salary, management, to job satisfaction (Rea & Parker, 2014). Questions should be asked in

Media Reflective Essay
One of my clients (let's call her Alicia) has always delayed her responses to media inquires or requests. In my line
of work, we deal with monthly, weekly and even daily deadlines, so this type of behaviour has clearly costed us
many opportunities in getting exposures in the media. I used any possible means to reach my clients, being extra
proactive while making sure she responds before the deadline. I suggested my superior to mention it to regional
office as this situation affects our business as their public relations consultant. If we don't get enough media
exposures as targetted, we may lose them as a client. Alicia has started to respond the inquries and requests almost
promptly. The use of casual communication mean such as Whatsapp for a friendlier reminder has been more
effective in getting her to work as fast as our pace.
During the month of Ramadan, one of our clients held a social activity by providing dinner box to taxi drivers
around the city to break their fasting. I have briefed our photographer to get the exact poses we needed to produce
photos for the press release. Turned out the event wasn't prepared accordingly by the management staff and I
trusted the photographer too much that I didn't supervise directly, and resulted the photos were not press release
quality. In the meantime, we needed to distribute the press release as soon as possible as it was nearing the end of
the holy month and everyone has started to be busy with the holiday as well. Re–took

Short Note On Raising Mice And Rabbits
When I turned 8, my parents bought me and my sister a hamster. We were so excited. I promised them that we
would take a full responsibility for her. We didn't think twice about all the work we had to do. We were just thrilled
about our new family member.
The next day, we began to do some research on how to raise hamsters. First, we went through all kinds of them
and their personalities so that we could pick the best one. We came up with the tiniest, cutest little hamster. Back
then, we didn't know it was a dwarf hamster, the sensitive, annoying kind.
Then, we googled to see which cage and food would be nice for our hamster. The cage we chose was very
expensive. It was a three–floored cage, with an eating room, a bed, ladders, and a ... Show more content on

She looked so lovely and cute in her new shelter. But she refused our hands. After that, we were hurt. Both
physically and emotionally. She bit us.
I put her back inside the cage. This time, instead of moving around, she went directly to the bed: the only place
where we couldn't see her because of the shadow. We knew she wanted to avoid us. Our mother told us that she
was just stressed right now, but that didn't make us feel any better.
The next day, we found a yellowish liquid on the top floor in the corner. We knew right away that our hamster had
peed last night. "She thinks the cage is safe." , I thought. "But why doesn't she think we are safe to be with?".
We replaced her food every day and cleaned the bath powder whenever we could. She still didn't seem to like us.
We tried to touch her, but in return, she bit us. I gave up. I didn't want her anymore. I regretted I even bought her in
the first place. I hated her, to be honest. But everything changed the next day.
She wasn't sleeping in her bed. She wasn't rolling in the bathtub. She wasn't running in the wheel. She wasn't
hiding under the sawdust. She was gone. I panicked when I realized the fact that she'd escaped. But where? At that
moment, I heard a soft rustling sound under the refrigerator. "No way.", I thought. I found a flashlight and I lay
down flat on the ground. At first, I couldn't see anything. But a few minutes later, I finally found her. She was

Brad's Holiday Retreat is a family business that is managed by Rosemary, a qualified accountant, and her partner
Brad, who is a trained real estate investor. They employ a full–time accountant, one full–time front office manager,
one full time food and beverage manager, one full time chef, part–time front office staff, kitchen staff, waiters,
cleaners and a contract gardener.
Casual cleaners, waiters and kitchen hands are 'on call' to help cope when there are increased customer demands.
Rosemary helps out in the office and looks after the telephones and administration when the receptionist has a
break or goes to lunch. All customer service issues are handled by Rosemary and she certainly gives feedback to
everyone in the business, including Brad, if there are customer service issues to be resolved.
Customer base
Brad's Holiday Retreat customer base is currently 60% domestic tourist and 40% international. The domestic side
of business is equally divided between travel agent booking and online/telephone bookings. The international
business is almost exclusively online/telephone bookings. Although the return is better, these customers are the
most demanding. About 60% of revenue comes from room costs; the remaining 40% comes from meals (10%),
drinks (15%) and tour operations (15%).

An Analysis Of Susan Glaspell 's ' Trifles '
A Love Gone Bad A woman who was once full of life and happiness is now left with no joy in her life. In the play,
"Trifles" by Susan Glaspell, we see how Mrs. Wright has changed over the years. We see how cheerful she was
before marrying Mr. Wright. While trying to solve the murder, the author uses symbolism, conflict, and irony. The
are many examples of conflict in this play. The most apparent conflict is that between the men and the women in
the play. In the first parts of the investigation, the sheriff is already showing his feelings towards women. "Well,
can you beat the woman! Held for murder and worryin' about her preserves" (Glaspell). To Mr. Peters, the
concerns of women mean nothing. Even Mr. Hale's view of the women is crude. "Well, women are used to
worrying over trifles" (Glaspell). Mr. Hale even thinks that what the women are worried about isn't important. The
county attorney is also in conflict with the ladies in the story. Mr. Henderson can't even dry his hands without
finding some excuse to talk bad about Mrs. Wright. "Dirty towels" (Glaspell). "Not much of a housekeeper, would
you say ladies" (Glaspell). In the eyes of Mr. Henderson, the women are nothing more than housekeepers. Mrs.
Hale doesn't see things the way the men do. "There's a great deal of work to be done on a farm" (Glaspell). She
wasn't only defending Mrs. Wright when she said this but also defending herself and Mrs. Peters. She knows that
the job of a housewife is a lot more than just

Research Paper On Job Stress
There are almost three billion people in this world who are employed on different positions in different
organizations of the world. Their working conditions like environment, work load, interconnectivity with
coworkers etc are different but these employees faces one common issue during their jobs that is Job Stress. Job
Stress is perceived as a negative terminology which mostly employees all around the world tend to avoid. Stress is
one of the burning issues that organizations have to deal so that employees can comfortably produce quality work.
Stress causes an imbalance in one's life because it leads to depression and thus damages health, attitude and work
behavior. Causes of stress are called stressors, which can be workplace conflict, role conflict, role ambiguity and
workload. In my research the main focus is on work load and interconnectivity with coworkers. Stress has been
defined in different ways over the years. Originally, it was conceived as pressure from the environment, then as
strain within the person. The generally accepted definition today is one of the interactions between the situation
and the individual. It is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

find job stress as their motivators. They think that it is according to their personality and during their career they

The proposal of this research is that we should understand the differences that under what circumstances the
employees tend to be positively affected by the job stress and also understand the factors that impose negative
effect on the job performance of the employees. After understanding these differences the managers will be able to
provide such conditions to their employees in which the productivity of the employees will be greater while

Sampling And Non Random Sampling
Sampling
As the population of this study was the Indian SMEs in Europe which were thousands in numbers; it was
notpractical to reach all of them within the timeframe available to complete this dissertation. This made it
inevitable to undertake sampling. Sampling is undertaken in order to select units or members that are
representative of the population. There are mainly two kinds of sampling namely probability and non–probability
sampling (Sekaran and Bougie, 2009). A probability sample is a sample in which every element of the population
has a known and equal likelihood of being selected. Non probability sample is any sample in which little or no
attempt is made to get a representative cross section of the population (Lamb et al. 2013).
This study made use of non–random sampling. A non–random sampling method is one where each member of the
population does not have a known or calculable non zero probability of being selected (Marchevsky, 2000). The
response rate of the questionnaire was low as expected at 26. 08 %. Of the 46 companies which were sent, only 12
completed questionnaires could be collected. A request for interview was also sent to these companies of which
only three gave permission and with whom interviews were conducted.

Trifles Analysis
In Susan Glaspell's Trifles, a suspenseful story is set around a group of men and women as they investigate the
murder of John Wright. The main suspect is his wife, Mrs. Wright. The women––Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters are
meant to pack up her belongings to bring back to the jail however the two end up unraveling what life really was
like for Mr. and Mrs. Wright. The men on the other hand, despite intentions of discovering motives, come up
seemingly empty–handed and conclude the women's work as "trifles." The contrast between the viewpoints of the
men and the women characters, unveiled through symbols in the play, reveal the variance in the values and
perspectives of each sex as well as the rigid gender roles and blinding stereotypes of the time period which result
in the men missing vital aspects of the investigation. When investigating the scene at the kitchen, the County
Attorney, Sheriff, and Hale are quick to blindly criticize the lack of cleanliness and the disorder within the Wright's
residence. They soon blame Mrs. Wright saying, "Dirty towels!..Not much of a housekeeper, would you say,
ladies!" Not only did the men solely believe the duty of Mrs. Wright was the condition of her home but fail to
connect the chaotic scene to Mrs. Wright's mental state. On the other hand, the women dig deeper below the
surface and see the mess as a direct connection and symbolized the loneliness and isolation Mrs. Wright felt in her
own home. The men's beliefs that the condition of the

Making The Grumpy Old Man
Making the Grumpy Old Man Grumpier
Sometimes my kids call me "GOM". It stands for "Grumpy Old Man". I'm not really (I think), but certainly I verge
on becoming a letters–to–the–editor writer (actually I did once write such a letter, but you'll be pleased to know it
was in response to some very misleading survey reporting).
Am I an old man? Well, I use punctuation when texting, I know the difference between a survey and a
questionnaire (they are NOT interchangeable terms, people!), and I stopped drinking beer during focus groups 15
years ago. Heck, after a heavy day of qual interviewing the other day I only managed half a pizza! (and who says
'heck' these days?).
But what, to quote the great philosopher Peter Griffin, really 'grinds my gears'?
It's crap research. I can happily debate sex, politics and religion, but rubbish research incenses me.
And unfortunately I see a fair bit of it. Because I get sent a lot of screen shots and Facebook messages from friends
and family, saying "get a load of this", with yet another dismal example of poor work. I've been given
questionnaires and reports from clients too. I also see problems when completing questionnaires myself – I'm on
most of the online panels in NZ, and when I'm not screened out I get to see what my industry colleagues are up to
– it's a fantastic way to see research from a respondent's perspective.
(And what's with screening out market researchers anyway? We're consumers too, and if you're worried about

Collection of Information for Systems Analysis Essay examples
A critical part for systems analysis is the collection of information. From the very beginning, analyst need to
understand the information systems that are currently in use. Besides, analyst has to find out expectations of users
about how they prefer to improve the current systems and organizational operations with the new or replacement
information systems. Last but not least, analyst will need to discover how users feel about the new or replacement
information systems. There are many techniques for collecting these information. Face–to–face interviewing and
self–administered questionnaires are two main techniques among them. This report is about a comparison of face–
to–face interviewing and self–administered questionnaires. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The form of questionnaire could be through telephone, mail or even email in this day and age. The following part
will discuss advantage and disadvantage for face–to–face interview and questionnaire. After that, a
recommendation will be given for which techniques should be used to collect feelings of staffs'.
1.2 Advantage and Disadvantage of face–to–face interview
According to Holbrook, Green and Krosnick (2003, p.79), face–to–face interview is known for its high–quality.
Kendall and Kendall (2006, p.110) argue that an a question–and–answer format is used for information gathering
interview which is a directed conversation with a specific purpose. In fact if we want to understand why we need
to choose interview as a select technique, we need to find out what we can get from the interview. One thing that
we can get from the interview is the opinions of the interviewee and his or her feelings about the system,
organizational and personal goals, and informal procedures for interacting with information technologies. The
truth is that opinions maybe more important and more revealing than facts. An example can be given as asking the
owner of a traditional store who has recently implement an online store how many customer has complain and
need to refund who deal through Web transactions each week. She replies:" About 20 to 25 a week." Then you
may discover that the average is only 10.5 per week. A conclusion will

Question 1 In the framework of the management–research question hierarchy following steps can be developed to
solve current dilemma (Cooper & Schindler, 2006): * Dilemma: use of publication reader service cards has
been gradually declining which questioned efficiency of its advertisements' to provide necessary information. *
Research questions: conducing a research study about efficiency of reader service cards use would be a reasonable
action that are available for taking advantage in the situation. * Investigation questions: in order for a manager to
decide about further use of reader service cards, evaluation of all methods should be carried out to get deep insight
about their relative effectiveness. * Management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, based on this information appropriate original sample sizes were selected. On the negative side, even
after pilot studies, questionnaires contained certain limitations, including lack of details about expected outcomes
of the study, better structure of questions, etc. Question 6 In order to digitize collected data and make it in the
convenient form that can be used in the statistical analysis the data has to be coded appropriately. The most
suitable way to code the data would be assigning numerical values to the options of answers in the multiple choice
questions. Since there is a possibility of more than one answer to every question, then it would be right to
construct number of variables equal to the number of options to questions 1–4 and 7. These variables will contain
2 numeric values, one will correspond to the case when respondent marked this option and another will indicate he
didn't mark this option. Variable corresponding to questions like 5a, 6, and 8–11) will contain different numeric
characteristics, each corresponding to the available option. Finally, answers from the open question 5b will be
directly digitized to the answer sheet. Hence, the data in this form can be easily analyzed with the help of
statistical software. Question 7 Given that manager is interested in the efficiency of reader service cards, then
research report should set its focus on this issue. The only reported finding of the survey

The Importance Of Nurses Reading And Critiquing Research...
The purpose of nurses reading and critiquing research about the nursing field is to gain a better understanding of
the research topic and to evaluate if this research will be effective in every day practice. Nursing is always
evolving and changing, so it is important to keep up to date research on certain methods and practices used in the
healthcare field.
Article Summary Infection control and precautions is a major aspect when working in the health care field. Nurses
and all other healthcare professionals should be properly educated regarding infection control techniques and
precautions. This research study conducted by Chia–Jung Wu, Glenn E Gardner and Anne M Chang, measures
Taiwanese nursing students' capability to handle infection control in terms of knowledge, application skills and
confidence. From the review of literature and previous studies, data revealed that there is a sufficient lack in
knowledge regarding infection control procedures, however these prior results tend to be unconvincing due to only
being relatable to certain groups and populations. Throughout this study, a cross sectional survey was used for the
research of fourth year nursing students in a five year program in Southern Taiwan. The demographics of the
students were studied along with three different scales measuring knowledge, application and confidence. The data
was collected from a self–administered questionnaire given out at the different campuses. The results from this

The Fuzzy Family Member : Where Are We Going?

The Fuzzy Family Member
"Where are we going?" I asked. "You 'll see soon," replied my dad. "But I want to know now!" whined my little
brother. My brother was only five years old, and had the attention span of a fly. When we stopped, my brother had
already fallen asleep, and probably forgot about the whole thing. By the time that we got to our destination, it was
already dark and it was hard to make out what was across the street. We walked up the cracked driveway of a
house, and turned onto the brick pathway leading up to the front door. There were vines climbing up the side of the
house, sprawling in every direction looking like a spider web. There were neatly trimmed bushes, all across ...

"That 's Cesar, he 's probably one of the most playful." the man stated. He talked to my dad as if he knew him. Are
they friends? I wondered. They seemed to talk like they knew each other from a long time ago.
As we walked around the same corner that Cesar just recently tore around, two teenage girls came into view. Both
seemed to be either Juniors or Seniors in High School. One of the teenagers were leaning against the counter in the
kitchen, and the other was playing with Cesar using a ball toy. Thump! Thump! Thump! The ball slammed around
all over the kitchen floor. Cesar trailed right behind, following the toy and slamming into everything the ball did.
Cesar was making a smiling face and his tail was going a hundred miles an hour, slamming into everything in its
radius. The girl sitting on the floor with the toy asked me, "Do you want to try?" I replied hesitantly, "Sure." I was
to little to have any memories of our first dog Wiley, so this was the biggest dog I could remember being around.
When I started to play with Cesar, I forgot all about being nervous. Cesar was running all over, and it was so funny
I completely forgot about my fear.
"Do you want to see the other ones?" asked the man. "Sure. Let 's go check them out." replied my dad. We left
Cesar back in the kitchen with the two teenagers, and went into what seemed to be a garage. There were four cages

After reading 80 pages of, "Skud," by Dennis Foon, I felt motivated by the actions and determination shown by the
main characters of the story, especially Andy. In the book, all the characters had a goal or objective and worked
hard to reach that goal. Although most people would not advise someone to center their life around one certain
thing, I think that when one finds a purpose or objective in life they should always do their best to reach this goal
regardless of what others say or thinks of it. In the book, Andy dream was to become a popular actor.Although the

Many important events in the book would not happen in real life. From my prior knowledge, I know the author is
from Canada. Inferring that the events take place in Canada, I believe that many events that happened in the book
would not have happened at a normal Canadian high school. For example, the Cage, a place where people get beat
up and bullied, surprisingly exists. In a normal Canadian high school, places like this would have been discovered
long ago. The Cage is also known by most people in the school yet no one reports the incidents and events that
happen there. In Canada and most developed countries, students learn about bullying and what to do when they see
someone being bullied at a young age. In the book, not only does the victim not do anything about their situation,
there are also many bystanders who just watch and refuse to do anything about the situation of things. In reality,
events similar to these would have been known to the staff at the school a long time ago, and bullies and people

respondent answers, and then the experimenter records the response). Lastly, there are a string of self–
administered questionnaires that include text–computer assisted self–interviewing (text–CASI, which are laptops
having the question and answer), audio–computer assisted self–interview (audio–CASI, same thing as text–CASI,
except the questions are in audio format), and video–CASI (questions are in video format instead). (151–153)
Since many of the modes are related in some form or combination of visual, auditory, and touch, I will judge the
benefits and disadvantages on five dimensions: 1) interviewer involvement, 2) respondent interaction, 3) privacy
measures, 4) "channels of communication," and 5) amount of technological utilization (153).
Interviewer Involvement
The one distinct form that has no interviewer involvement is mail. Telephone has some involvement, but not as
physical as the face–to–face interview. The face–to–face branching of SAQs would still have some interviewer
involvement as it would be primarily be delivered by the researcher. The biggest disadvantage of having an
interviewer present is the cost associated with it (i.e. training, supervision, support, etc.) (153). Another problem,
that may be associated with interviewer involvement are the effects it produces (i.e. answers toward gender
behaviors, and the interviewer being of a different gender may influence those responses). However, the cost of the
interviewer still has some benefit as they can

The best of people waits in the shadows, until it is time to come out into the light. I was always the shy kid in the
back of class. I barely spoke to anyone that would approach, and I was so afraid of others judgment because of the
kind of person I am. I may not be the smartest guy in the world, but I do know quite a bit. After years of hiding in
the darkness, afraid of the torment that others may bring, I finally came into the spotlight. I had found my new
home and sanctuary, I had embraced my love for musical theatre.
When I was just three years old, I had been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, and ADHD. As a result of
having been given this burden to carry with me for the rest of my days, I was always different than most people
would assume me to be. It isn't their fault they assume, nor is it mine, it is simply a symptom of what is called
human. Throughout my life, many people have made assumptions about me, didn't matter whether or not they
were good or bad, they just simply did. Whenever I had told others about my interests, comic books, games, super
heroes, etc, some of them would return the favor of kindness, and some others would back away with disgust and
anguish. As a result of some of the torture I endured from others, I often hid in the shadows where I felt safe from
the heartlessness of others.
For many years I had refrained from telling others about my interests. I was scared. I didn't know what others
would say. How was I to know if they would accept me

In-Class Reflection

  • 1. In-Class Reflection Highlights of my activities: As a part of the required activities for the course EGR9220 "Teaching in Higher Education Practicum" at Villanova University, I have had the opportunity to teach a few sessions for CEE2105 for fall semester 2017, supervised by Dr. David Dinehart. On Wednesday November 1st, I recorded two lectures to be posted on the blackboard and viewed by students prior to their in–class session on the following Friday and Monday. I received the PowerPoint slides for those recorded session from Dr. Dinehart, however, added certain material to them with his consent. In particular, I added a nine–step problem solving procedure to be implemented during in–class sessions, 37 and 38. The total duration of the recorded sessions was about 26 minutes. The first recording was titled "Centroids of the composite areas", and the second recording was titled "Centroid of composite areas, lines, and volumes". On Friday November 3rd, I instructed two in–class problem solving sessions from 8:30' AM to 9:20' AM, and from 9:30' AM to 10:20' AM, both on the topic of centroids of composite areas. From the two in–class sessions, the second session was recorded and posted on the blackboard webpage as well. The problems and solutions for both sessions were provided by Dr. Dinehart, and per his request, I tried my best to comply with his formatting in writing of the material on the touchscreen. At the end of both sessions, questionnaires that were previously designed by myself were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Self Help Group Of Rural Assam SELF–HELP GROUP OF RURAL ASSAM AND ITS ROLE IN WOMEN EMPOWERMENT Dr. Polee Saikia1 1 Associate Professor, Department of Education, Gauhati University, Assam, India. ABSTRACT: Women empowerment is a universal issue. Women empowerment refers to the creation of an environment for women where they can make decisions of their own for their personal benefits as well as for the society. It refers to increasing and improving the social, economic, political and legal strength of the women, to ensure equal right to women and to make them confident enough to claim their rights. The overall development of the nation remains as a paradox until and unless the women got empowered. The under privileged rural women are still far from empowerment. Unemployment, illiteracy and low social recognition made them so. Presently the self–help groups that mushrooming in different corners of rural Assam have been creating opportunities for women to be empowered. Here in this study an attempt has been made to study whether the rural women got scope to get empowered by getting engagement in self–help groups. 40 women from 04 self–help groups, 13 literate and 27 illiterate women were taken as sample for the study. To collect first hand data self structured questionnaire and self structured interview schedule were prepared by the investigators. Percentage was used to analyze data. KEY WORDS : Empowerment, self–help group, Kamrup (R). INTRODUCTION: The position of the women in the society is one of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Evaluation Of A Report On The Audit Methodology The audit will be conducted on an approximate 4 wards, these wards comprise the individuals most likely to be 'high risk' and in need of a 'red tray', such wards include: 1. Stroke ward 2. Elderly ward 3. Rehabilitation ward 4. Paediatric ward The data for the audit will be collected from patients and ward/nursing staff in these wards. The data will be collected from 95% of the patients in each ward and 95% of ward staff in each ward. The data will be collected via 3 different sources: 1. 95% of the patients in the 4 selected wards will be distributed a qualitative questionnaire to identify patient views on the RTS, & to see if the RTS is being properly implemented (See appendix C). The data will be collected by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the audit tools are reliable and can be easily repeated by others. The observations of mealtimes (See appendix E) will be analysed by distributing the collected data on a bar chart; where the data can be interpreted more efficiently by displaying the total numbers of patients who require assistance, receive assistance and receive red trays across all the observations for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The analysis of the patients questionnaire may be time consuming, as it's in paper format – meaning that the questions and respondent data will have to be manually transferred into spreadsheet software, with each question assigned a column, and row for each person's answer, with each answer being assigned a 'code'. Once all the data from each questionnaire has been entered in the spreadsheet; it should be checked for accuracy. The data can then be transferred to a bar chart, to display the data, for simple analysis. The ward staff questionnaire (See Appendix D) is quantitative and can be analysed by reading the questionnaires, putting them into categories and assigning 'codes'. Though, this is a time–consuming method and highly subjective with the questionnaires having an increased risk of being interpreted incorrectly. Ethics & Confidentiality One major ethical concern is to make sure informed consent is given by the patients to allow for (1) the conduction of observations on them during mealtimes and (2) their participation in questionnaires. • 9. Surveys and Experiments Introduction Surveys and experiments can prove to be an extremely valuable tool that organizations can use to gain pertinent information. In order to effectively utilize these tools firms must pay careful attention to the design, methodology, and ethical issues of the experiment chosen. Among these issues are variables in conducting experiments with human subjects, design elements affecting the accuracy of the experiment, and questions of methodology. The information below addresses each of these concerns and describes how experiments can become a valuable tool for organizations to plan for the future. Question 9.4 – Ethical Problems in Conducting Experiments with Human Subjects After choosing the experimental design, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, it would be important to ensure that one person can take the survey once. If the website saw that the same IP address re–entered the site, the survey would not be presented. A random assignment of participants to take the survey would also reduce the amount of repeat surveys. The researcher should determine beforehand how many positive responses from the survey would indicate an effective advertisement. Now that the experiment has a design established, it needs participants and a reporting structure (Cooper & Schindler, 2014). In order to not affect the entire population entering the site, the experiment could use a random assignment of participants for each survey Question 10.5 – Choosing a Survey Method Choosing a survey method requires comparing data needs against the advantages and disadvantages of the methods available in each situation (Cooper & Schindler, 2014). These transitional questions, in spite of missing discriminative value, are beneficial for familiarizing the subject, as well as making the consultation less threatening (Aertgeerts, et al., 2004). Item responses are scored zero to one, with a higher score a suggestion of alcohol problems. The total score can range from zero to four (Aertgeerts, et al., 2004). This screening apparatus is simply administered and scored and can often times be committed to memory. The CAGE can be used in general medical populations in a primary care setting and be administered at no cost to adults and adolescents over the age of 16 (Aertgeerts, et al., 2004). It has been distinguished that the CAGE takes less than one minute to manage and score. However, it does not screen for drug–related difficulties (Aertgeerts, et al., 2004). The CAGE has been used in numerous cultures worldwide, but often vigilant rendition is essential to maintain accurateness (Aertgeerts, et al., 2004). However, the CAGE presented with inferior performance than the AUDIT in recognizing alcohol use disorders amongst African American men, white women, and Mexican American patients (Bradley, et al., 2007). The CAGE has been found to perform poorly in younger age groups. Some propose that this is for the reason that the items may be less pertinent to adolescent populations, such as morning ... • 13. A Dead Boy Dewey Skeates had just seen a dead boy. The image had been running through his mind all day. Blood on his chest and blood on his hands and blood in his mouth. It didn't make any sense. Death didn't exist. It just wasn't something that was physically possible until someone reached at least one hundred and fifty years of age or so. The government had issued a statement during the genetic renaissance that said that the whole population had had their genetic codes altered to allow for enzymes to quickly fix anything that was broken. Dewey being an incredibly smart boy for his eleven years, a genius one might even call him, was left stumped by the image that was replaying over and over in his head. He saw no way for death to be possible. His older sister, Ariata, had suggested that maybe some people could die but no one knew when they did. He had wholeheartedly rejected that theory, but it left his mind whirring with possibilities. Oh the endless possibilities, he thought to himself. Several hours after the days gruesome events, Dewey found himself alone in his room, pondering the unlikeliness of the situation. His room was filled with a myriad of scientific instruments. They were strewn across his floor along with several pieces of paper covered in calculations and ideas. A hamster cage sat on a table in the corner. Dewey stared at the cage. It was home to his Hamster Daxel, who was just about as old as Dewey was. Dewey silently approached the cage wondering if hamsters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Birds In Kate Chopin's The Awakening Birds are a common sight in most places people tend to be. These winged creatures are seen in bustling places like the pigeons that are in urban and suburban areas, the woodpeckers in rural regions, the crows on farms, and even in cages within buildings. In fact, these elegant creatures are so common a sight in society that they are often overlooked and underappreciated. This is similar to how women were and sometimes still are treated within society; they are given little appreciation when they are present and doing as they are told, but when they do not do as they are told they become a problem. This parallel that can be drawn between women and birds is used throughout Kate Chopin's novel, The Awakening, in which its main character Edna Pontellier is often likened to and symbolized by a bird. Throughout the novel, the bird acts as a theme and symbol of both Edna and women in general. To start, many comparisons can be drawn between Edna and an imprisoned bird. The first lines of the novel describe "[a] green and yellow parrot, which hung in a cage outside the door" (Chopin 5). Starting at the bird's physical description, the brightly colored feathers of this creature strongly represent the power and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though the main character was unable to survive her flight, many other women both in the novel and in reality were able to embark and finish theirs. And the interesting thing about it is that these fictional and nonfictional females inspired each other to go forth and attempt their metaphorical and literal journeys even if there is a chance they are unable to succeed. It is because of these brave birds that women's roles in society have changed so greatly within the last century. In no other time in history has there been such an expansion in women's rights and roles and it is all due to women both real and fictional who went against societal ... • 25. Data Gathering Essay Research is a vital tool for education. It is research that gives us the ability to accurately observe broad pools of student, respond to data, and thus become better educators. Without research, we wouldn 't be able to have great standard curriculums. But as I learned in this section, research is complicated, detailed, and often labor intensive. There are many ways to gather information. Each of the many data gathering techniques has their own pros and cons. Understanding the many different types of data gathering is important, as it keeps us flexible and ready to enact effectively upon any situation. These types of data gathering techniques include interviews, questionnaires, and surveys. Although interviews are not always economic and possible to conduct on broad numbers of students, they are probably my favorite type of data gathering technique because they are personal and therefore much more likely to be accurate. The process of interviewing involves an interviewer sitting down with an interviewee to ask questions. The questions and responses can be more complicated than those of other techniques such as tests or questionnaires. This is due to the ability of the interviewee to answer in more complicated terms due to the barrier of transmission being so low. It only takes talking for the interviewee to communicate the info. This is opposed to the writing of the questionnaire or the way a student is restricted to only a few number of responses on a test. Also, an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Data Collection Tool Used For Information About Individuals A survey is a process of obtaining information or a general view, examination, or description of something. It is a data collection tool used to gather information about individuals. It has a variety of purposes and can actually be conducted in many ways. One of the ways is by printed questionnaire, over the telephone, by mail, in person, by diskette, or on the web. However, the information is collected through the use of standardized procedures. This is to ensure that every participant is asked the same question in the same way (uniform). It entails asking the participants for information in a structured format. Notably, the participants being surveyed may be representing themselves or their organization depending on what is being asked. They may also focus on factual information about individuals. Generally, surveys are standardized to ensure that they have reliability and validity. This is very important so that the results can be generalized to the entire population. However, this paper will discuss the following questions/concerns based on the survey questionnaire answered: my thought on the length of each survey instrument, my thought on the open minded questions, whether I preferred completing the surveys or open ended questions, which methodology I believe is most useful in the examination of each variable/construct, and how this experience might influence my research design. • 29. The Commercialization Of Sport At The United States... The Commercialization of Sport According to Brad Austin (2015), the US university programs on athletics has created tangible links between the authorities of the institution and the alumni group in two ways. One is legitimizing and codifying the alumni interest in men's and women's sports. To do this, they even have provided alumni representatives in the athletic governing body. The second one, is the coordination of various alumni events with the yearly homecoming events in the universities of the US. It has been found that the American leaders used to utilize these homecoming events to rejuvenate the spirit and affinity among the people of the country during the decades of the early twentieth century. Thus, the universities were used to get affected by this political interest. This political interest enhanced the initial steps towards commercialization of homecoming. Janet Harvey (2000) has pointed out that in the last two decades the American homecoming events have witnessed a cultural transformation towards commercialization. These transformations have long term impact on its audience. The entertainment packages are now much more an issue of concerns in the mainstream media than the actual sports event. The popularity has been brought to a great extent by this hip hop culture through commercialization. Contemporary cultural analysts are mostly concerned about analysing the impact of globalisation on the localised events like homecoming game tailgate. The celebration ... • 31. How Appropriate Were The Various Sampling Design Decisions? Describe the sampling strategy. How appropriate were the various sampling design decisions? Sampling strategy is a focus on a smaller group to determine the conclusions of the larger population (Cooper & Schindler, 2014, p. 338). In this instance, the McMahon Group employed both focus groups and mail surveys as strategies to gather information and the dual approach produced relevant and valuable data for researchers. Flexible and inexpensive, focus groups consist of six to ten participants (Hartman, 2004, p. 408). Additionally, a moderator guides the discussion among its panel members that allows researchers to observe real–time verbal responses and nonverbal cues (Hartman, 2004, p. 402; Cooper & Schindler, 2014, p. 160). Focus groups moderators also have the ability to introduce new ideas to gain a greater understanding of concerns from respondents (Hartman, 2004, p. 402). However, a concern with focus group is the lack of anonymity due to the face–to–face participation. Also cost effective, the mail surveys specifically targeted the members and their spouses. Postal surveys can target specific people (necessary for the member and spouse data collection), and allow respondents the ability to answer the survey at their leisure. On the other hand, mail questionnaires are a slower data gathering method as compared to internet surveys (Hoonakker & Carayon, 2009, p. 359). Similarly, the possibility of response–based error may occur if respondents do not correctly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Descriptive Essay About A Boat I almost stepped foot into what I thought to be my watery grave, but I hesitated as my foot broke the surface of the water. I thought back to the boat ride out here and my feelings of uneasiness as we rode the waves. The small boat contained six rows of benches for the tourists to sit at the front of the boat. Directly behind the last row, a captain's station sat with the controls to steer the boat. Behind the control room, or the back of the boat, sat one long bench. A metal railing encircled the entire boat, except for a small portion at the back. Resting below the open area, hooked to the side of the boat, sat a three–rung ladder. I still tasted the wintergreen lifesaver I enjoyed on the car ride over here. The boat took us three miles off the north shore of Oahu, I couldn't help but admire the beauty of this paradise. Looking at the green mountains, lined with thick and healthy trees thanks to all the rain, and the exquisite white beaches, calmed me and helped me forget the anxiety that overcame me. The cold, early morning ocean breeze pulled my hair back, but no goosebumps graced my skin thanks to the warm sun shining down on us. My fellow boat passengers all seemed to appear calm while we rode on this death trap that closed the distance between us and the cage. My idea of fun consisted of reading a book or watching a movie with family and friends, not jumping into a cage surrounded by sharks. Adventure and risks are not a part of my life. The boat's captains included five men. Each man had a beard and browned skin from all their time in the sun. Sunglasses rested on each of their eyes, shielding them from the bright, hot sun. The boat engines loud roar came to a stop, only the waves crashing against the boat made a sound. The oldest of the five men spoke first. He lifted a crooked, dark finger and held it over the left side of the boat and exclaimed in a gruff voice, "The cage is over there and you will need to swim in 15 yards of free water to get to it. If the sharks come at you just hit their nose." Looks of terror graced every traveler's face. The looks didn't fade until another one of the boat's crew spoke up telling us that the older man played that joke on every tour group. I studied the man ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Quality Measurement Tool : Evaluating Patient Satisfaction... Quality Measurement Tool Evaluating patient satisfaction shows that there is a link between employee attitudes and patient satisfaction scores (Ransom, Maulik, Nash & Ransom, 2012). If employees are unhappy or dissatisfied, it is difficult to conceal this when interacting with patients and other staff members. The primary reason for evaluating employee satisfaction is to attempt to identify the problem and try to resolve them before an impact on patient care can be seen (Ransom et al., 2012). There are two main types of surveys to evaluate employee satisfaction; interviews and questionnaires (Ransom et al., 2012). Interviews may be more advantages as they allow the interviewer a chance for follow up questions, but run the risk of receiving untruthful answers due to a lack of trust. Questionnaires allow the same survey to be admitted to a large group of people, however these too can create fear in employees of being identified. Questionnaires must be careful of how questions are worded as to not be misinterpreted (Ransom et al., 2012). The Quality Measurement Project The goal of this project is to identify the source of Radiology employee satisfaction or lack thereof. I used any possible means to reach my clients, being extra proactive while making sure she responds before the deadline. I suggested my superior to mention it to regional office as this situation affects our business as their public relations consultant. In the play, "Trifles" by Susan Glaspell, we see how Mrs. Wright has changed over the years. We see how cheerful she was before marrying Mr. Wright. While trying to solve the murder, the author uses symbolism, conflict, and irony. The are many examples of conflict in this play. The most apparent conflict is that between the men and the women in the play. In the first parts of the investigation, the sheriff is already showing his feelings towards women. "Well, can you beat the woman! Held for murder and worryin' about her preserves" (Glaspell). To Mr. Peters, the concerns of women mean nothing. Even Mr. Hale's view of the women is crude. "Well, women are used to worrying over trifles" (Glaspell). Mr. Hale even thinks that what the women are worried about isn't important. The county attorney is also in conflict with the ladies in the story. Mr. Henderson can't even dry his hands without finding some excuse to talk bad about Mrs. Wright. "Dirty towels" (Glaspell). "Not much of a housekeeper, would you say ladies" (Glaspell). In the eyes of Mr. Henderson, the women are nothing more than housekeepers. Mrs. Hale doesn't see things the way the men do. Their working conditions like environment, work load, interconnectivity with coworkers etc are different but these employees faces one common issue during their jobs that is Job Stress. Job Stress is perceived as a negative terminology which mostly employees all around the world tend to avoid. Stress is one of the burning issues that organizations have to deal so that employees can comfortably produce quality work. Stress causes an imbalance in one's life because it leads to depression and thus damages health, attitude and work behavior. Causes of stress are called stressors, which can be workplace conflict, role conflict, role ambiguity and workload. In my research the main focus is on work load and interconnectivity with coworkers. Stress has been defined in different ways over the years. Originally, it was conceived as pressure from the environment, then as strain within the person. The generally accepted definition today is one of the interactions between the situation and the individual. It is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sampling And Non Random Sampling Sampling As the population of this study was the Indian SMEs in Europe which were thousands in numbers; it was notpractical to reach all of them within the timeframe available to complete this dissertation. This made it inevitable to undertake sampling. Sampling is undertaken in order to select units or members that are representative of the population. There are mainly two kinds of sampling namely probability and non–probability sampling (Sekaran and Bougie, 2009). A probability sample is a sample in which every element of the population has a known and equal likelihood of being selected. Non probability sample is any sample in which little or no attempt is made to get a representative cross section of the population (Lamb et al. 2013). This study made use of non–random sampling. A non–random sampling method is one where each member of the population does not have a known or calculable non zero probability of being selected (Marchevsky, 2000). The response rate of the questionnaire was low as expected at 26. 08 %. Of the 46 companies which were sent, only 12 completed questionnaires could be collected. A request for interview was also sent to these companies of which only three gave permission and with whom interviews were conducted. • 59. Trifles Analysis In Susan Glaspell's Trifles, a suspenseful story is set around a group of men and women as they investigate the murder of John Wright. The main suspect is his wife, Mrs. Wright. The women––Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters are meant to pack up her belongings to bring back to the jail however the two end up unraveling what life really was like for Mr. and Mrs. Wright. The men on the other hand, despite intentions of discovering motives, come up seemingly empty–handed and conclude the women's work as "trifles." The contrast between the viewpoints of the men and the women characters, unveiled through symbols in the play, reveal the variance in the values and perspectives of each sex as well as the rigid gender roles and blinding stereotypes of the time period which result in the men missing vital aspects of the investigation. When investigating the scene at the kitchen, the County Attorney, Sheriff, and Hale are quick to blindly criticize the lack of cleanliness and the disorder within the Wright's residence. They soon blame Mrs. Wright saying, "Dirty towels!..Not much of a housekeeper, would you say, ladies!" Not only did the men solely believe the duty of Mrs. Wright was the condition of her home but fail to connect the chaotic scene to Mrs. Wright's mental state. On the other hand, the women dig deeper below the surface and see the mess as a direct connection and symbolized the loneliness and isolation Mrs. Wright felt in her own home. • 61. Making The Grumpy Old Man Making the Grumpy Old Man Grumpier Sometimes my kids call me "GOM". It stands for "Grumpy Old Man". I'm not really (I think), but certainly I verge on becoming a letters–to–the–editor writer (actually I did once write such a letter, but you'll be pleased to know it was in response to some very misleading survey reporting). Am I an old man? Well, I use punctuation when texting, I know the difference between a survey and a questionnaire (they are NOT interchangeable terms, people!), and I stopped drinking beer during focus groups 15 years ago. Heck, after a heavy day of qual interviewing the other day I only managed half a pizza! (and who says 'heck' these days?). But what, to quote the great philosopher Peter Griffin, really 'grinds my gears'? It's crap research. I can happily debate sex, politics and religion, but rubbish research incenses me. And unfortunately I see a fair bit of it. Because I get sent a lot of screen shots and Facebook messages from friends and family, saying "get a load of this", with yet another dismal example of poor work. I've been given questionnaires and reports from clients too. I also see problems when completing questionnaires myself – I'm on most of the online panels in NZ, and when I'm not screened out I get to see what my industry colleagues are up to – it's a fantastic way to see research from a respondent's perspective. (And what's with screening out market researchers anyway? We're consumers too, and if you're worried about other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From the very beginning, analyst need to understand the information systems that are currently in use. Besides, analyst has to find out expectations of users about how they prefer to improve the current systems and organizational operations with the new or replacement information systems. Last but not least, analyst will need to discover how users feel about the new or replacement information systems. There are many techniques for collecting these information. Face–to–face interviewing and self–administered questionnaires are two main techniques among them. After that, a recommendation will be given for which techniques should be used to collect feelings of staffs'. 1.2 Advantage and Disadvantage of face–to–face interview According to Holbrook, Green and Krosnick (2003, p.79), face–to–face interview is known for its high–quality. Kendall and Kendall (2006, p.110) argue that an a question–and–answer format is used for information gathering interview which is a directed conversation with a specific purpose. In fact if we want to understand why we need to choose interview as a select technique, we need to find out what we can get from the interview. One thing that we can get from the interview is the opinions of the interviewee and his or her feelings about the system, organizational and personal goals, and informal procedures for interacting with information technologies. The truth is that opinions maybe more important and more revealing than facts. An example can be given as asking the owner of a traditional store who has recently implement an online store how many customer has complain and need to refund who deal through Web transactions each week. She replies:" About 20 to 25 a week." Then you may discover that the average is only 10.5 per week. A conclusion will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On the negative side, even after pilot studies, questionnaires contained certain limitations, including lack of details about expected outcomes of the study, better structure of questions, etc. Question 6 In order to digitize collected data and make it in the convenient form that can be used in the statistical analysis the data has to be coded appropriately. The most suitable way to code the data would be assigning numerical values to the options of answers in the multiple choice questions. Since there is a possibility of more than one answer to every question, then it would be right to construct number of variables equal to the number of options to questions 1–4 and 7. These variables will contain 2 numeric values, one will correspond to the case when respondent marked this option and another will indicate he didn't mark this option. Variable corresponding to questions like 5a, 6, and 8–11) will contain different numeric characteristics, each corresponding to the available option. Finally, answers from the open question 5b will be directly digitized to the answer sheet. Hence, the data in this form can be easily analyzed with the help of statistical software. Question 7 Given that manager is interested in the efficiency of reader service cards, then research report should set its focus on this issue. The only reported finding of the survey ... The purpose of nurses reading and critiquing research about the nursing field is to gain a better understanding of the research topic and to evaluate if this research will be effective in every day practice. Nursing is always evolving and changing, so it is important to keep up to date research on certain methods and practices used in the healthcare field. Article Summary Infection control and precautions is a major aspect when working in the health care field. Nurses and all other healthcare professionals should be properly educated regarding infection control techniques and precautions. This research study conducted by Chia–Jung Wu, Glenn E Gardner and Anne M Chang, measures Taiwanese nursing students' capability to handle infection control in terms of knowledge, application skills and confidence. From the review of literature and previous studies, data revealed that there is a sufficient lack in knowledge regarding infection control procedures, however these prior results tend to be unconvincing due to only being relatable to certain groups and populations. Throughout this study, a cross sectional survey was used for the research of fourth year nursing students in a five year program in Southern Taiwan. The demographics of the students were studied along with three different scales measuring knowledge, application and confidence. When we stopped, my brother had already fallen asleep, and probably forgot about the whole thing. Both seemed to be either Juniors or Seniors in High School. One of the teenagers were leaning against the counter in the kitchen, and the other was playing with Cesar using a ball toy. Thump! Thump! Thump! The ball slammed around all over the kitchen floor. Cesar trailed right behind, following the toy and slamming into everything the ball did. Cesar was making a smiling face and his tail was going a hundred miles an hour, slamming into everything in its radius. The girl sitting on the floor with the toy asked me, "Do you want to try?" I replied hesitantly, "Sure." I was to little to have any memories of our first dog Wiley, so this was the biggest dog I could remember being around. When I started to play with Cesar, I forgot all about being nervous. Cesar was running all over, and it was so funny I completely forgot about my fear. "Do you want to see the other ones?" asked the man. "Sure. Let 's go check them out." replied my dad. The Cage is also known by most people in the school yet no one reports the incidents and events that happen there. In Canada and most developed countries, students learn about bullying and what to do when they see someone being bullied at a young age. Lastly, there are a string of self– administered questionnaires that include text–computer assisted self–interviewing (text–CASI, which are laptops having the question and answer), audio–computer assisted self–interview (audio–CASI, same thing as text–CASI, except the questions are in audio format), and video–CASI (questions are in video format instead). (151–153) Since many of the modes are related in some form or combination of visual, auditory, and touch, I will judge the benefits and disadvantages on five dimensions: 1) interviewer involvement, 2) respondent interaction, 3) privacy measures, 4) "channels of communication," and 5) amount of technological utilization (153). Interviewer Involvement The one distinct form that has no interviewer involvement is mail. Telephone has some involvement, but not as physical as the face–to–face interview. The face–to–face branching of SAQs would still have some interviewer involvement as it would be primarily be delivered by the researcher. The biggest disadvantage of having an interviewer present is the cost associated with it (i.e. training, supervision, support, etc.) (153). Another problem, that may be associated with interviewer involvement are the effects it produces (i.e. answers toward gender behaviors, and the interviewer being of a different gender may influence those responses). However, the cost of the interviewer still has some benefit as they can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I barely spoke to anyone that would approach, and I was so afraid of others judgment because of the kind of person I am. I may not be the smartest guy in the world, but I do know quite a bit. After years of hiding in the darkness, afraid of the torment that others may bring, I finally came into the spotlight. I had found my new home and sanctuary, I had embraced my love for musical theatre. When I was just three years old, I had been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, and ADHD. As a result of having been given this burden to carry with me for the rest of my days, I was always different than most people would assume me to be. It isn't their fault they assume, nor is it mine, it is simply a symptom of what is called human. Throughout my life, many people have made assumptions about me, didn't matter whether or not they were good or bad, they just simply did. Whenever I had told others about my interests, comic books, games, super heroes, etc, some of them would return the favor of kindness, and some others would back away with disgust and anguish. As a result of some of the torture I endured from others, I often hid in the shadows where I felt safe from the heartlessness of others. For many years I had refrained from telling others about my interests. I was scared. I didn't know what others would say. How was I to know if they would accept me ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
