2.  The word computer is derived from Greek word
‘compute’ which means to calculate. It gives an entire
output after processing data. It is useful for
transferring data.
 A computer is a programmable machine. The two
principal characteristics of a computer are. It
responds to a specific set of instructions in a well
defined manner. It can execute prerecorded list of
instructions (a program).

3. A computer performs five major operations or functions
It accepts data or instructions as input,
 It stores data and instruction
 It processes data as per the instructions,
 It controls all operations inside a computer, and
 It gives result in the form of output

4.  A personal computer is a multipurpose electronic computer whose
size capabilities and price make it feasible for individual use.
Uses:-
 Accounts
 Banks
 Internet
 Data storage
 Online transactions….etc.

5.  Definition :- Movement of people from one place to
another place more than 24 hours and less than 365
days for Leisure, Pleasure and Relaxation.

6.  Software- Hardware is just a box with electronic parts in it cannot do any
to do some work. Software is a general term to describe a collection of
computer programs procedures and documentation that perform some
tasks on a computer system
Types:-
 Application software : An application software is a set of programs that
allow computer to perform a specific data processing job for the system .
 System software: A system software package is a collection of programs
designed to operate control and extend processing of computer
 Utility software : A system software package is a collection of programs
designed to operate control and extend processing of computer

7. Hardware is a physical parts of computer, which can be touch. Like as

 Printer
 Scanner
 CPU
 Monitor

8. There are three types of storage devices in computer
Primary storage ROM (Read Only Memory)
RAM (Random Access Memory)
Secondary storage Hard disk drives (HDD)
Optical disks(compact disk)
Removable storage USB
Optical discs
Magnetic tapes
External hard disk derives

9.  Output devices :- An output device lets a computer to
communicate with you. The device which are used to display the data to the user either in
the form of hard copy or soft copy are called output devices. For example.

 Speakers
 Printers
 Input devices:- an input device allow the user
to give command to computer. For example.

 Mouse
 Joystick
 scanner

10.  MEANING
 “An operating system (OS) is system software that
manages computer hardware and software
resources and provides common services for
computer programs.
 An operating system, or "OS," is software that
communicates with the hardware and allows other
programs to run.
