Load shedding, or discontinuing electric supply to cope with demand, is a major long-standing problem in Bangladesh. It is caused by inadequate infrastructure, political influence, ineffective government actions, failure to maintain power stations, lack of increasing supply, misuse of electricity, and corruption. Load shedding greatly hampers students, decreases production, and spoils goods that require refrigeration, harming many aspects of life and the economy. Solutions include raising public awareness to save electricity, repairing power stations, enforcing laws on illegal connections and corruption, and increasing electricity production.
