 When there is not enough electricity is available
to meet the demands of all consumers.
 It could be necessary to interrupt the supply of
certain areas.

 The total power generation
capacity of Pakistan is (including
all sources) 21,143 MW .
 And the electricity demand (as of
April 2010) is 14,500 MW and
PEPCO is merely generating
10,000 MW.

7. 1. NO WATER IN DAMS
 We have low water
level in our dams which
is a source of
hydroelectric power.
 India has constructed
the baglehar dam on
river Chenab by which
our water level
decreasing.
 Recently 12 units

8. 2. AGING OF GENERATION
EQUIPMENTS
Age=aging (grow old or older.)
 The equipment which is used for the
production of electricity is out of date.
 Its become older and the duration of
these equipments is also expired.
 It cannot work properly and cannot
produce the sufficient amount of
electricity.

 It was installed in the 1990s to
provide to
ten homes with each having four fans,

9. 3. INCREASING COST OF FUEL
 The cost of fuel is increasing day by day.
It means that the generation from thermal
plants are costing high price.
 WAPDA and KE when purchasing
electricity on higher cost may not be selling
it on low price. It should be a great loss.
 Major portion of electricity is produced
form oil, gas, coal this method is called
thermal power.
The production cost is 18 RS per Unit but
it is supplied at 12 RS Per unit.
So that govt is unable to set up the new
plant due to inadequacy of finance

10. 4. INABILITY OF KE AND
WAPDA
 WAPDA and KE are two
generation and dispatch units in
Pakistan.
 It is fact that they have poor
services and are not able to
complete the electricity
requirement.
 Private sector should be given a
chance and allowed to install the
power plants and settle to electricity
consumers'.

consumers are also equally

Industries are setting off and our economy is very much destroy form load shedding.
Following are the some reason which cause of downfall of our economy:
 Productivity when performing various tasks has also decreased rapidly.
 Time management is also a big issue
 Commodities kept for preservation in cold storages gets spoiled
 Farmers fail to water their field on time which cause shortage.

 Water flowing in the river has kinetic
energy, which is used to drive the turbine and
produce electricity the power generated as
Hydel Energy.
 This is the cheapest source of electricity
and it is used as major source of electricity in
Pakistan
 Although we cannot build big and large
dams but we should construct small dams for
industrial sector.

 Energy which produce by emission of
radiation from the nucleus of atom.
Pakistan is in need of energy very badly and
urgently. Pakistan should look for nuclear
energy possibilities.
Pakistan is one of the seven countries who
has a great ability to operate nuclear power
plant for last 40 years .
 Government should work on development of

 Electricity is short not only in Karachi but also in Pakistan and as a result electric load
shedding ,breakdowns,power,outages and blackouts are common features in the city.
 There are many factors behind the load shedding shortage of river water, power
theft,dismanagement,defective planning of WAPDA and KE,corruption and in completing
projects.
 Load Shedding is a great curse. Its disturbs the people belonging all walk of life like
student,patients,bussinessman,farmers,doctors
,industrialists,mechanices,housewives,laborers and etc.
Pakistan can not make any progress in any field in the presence of load shedding.
Government should take all the possible measure to end the load shedding from the country.

 We all know that our country is in critical condition and we are looking for international
aid. Therefore it is not easy to start these projects immediately .
If we want to get the rid off this crisis, we have to change our life style. We should
definitely learn the saving of energy. The unnecessary use of energy should be stopped.
Unfortunately we should spent luxurious life style. We should spent a simple life.
 In last 10 years not a single mega watt was added. Blame games ,seminars,
conferences and events on energy issues in Pakistan are not necessary as compare to
do something practical.
