Media Question3
1. What kind of media institutions might distribute your media product and why?
The people who would want to distribute this media piece directly would be companies
over the internet such as Youtube, Google and Vimeo. But companies that may be
interested in distributing the finished film would be companies such as Warner Bros
because of their success with recent thriller movies such as many of the Batman
sequels.
The reason these would be the only organisations to distribute our media product would
be because the sights such as Youtube and Vimeo grew on the idea that anyone can
make a media product like ours and become viral for it. The reasons for only these
sights wanting to do this would be because this select piece is only the opening 2
minutes, bigger media production companies such as Warner Bros would be interested
in distributing the finished product and the distribution over Youtube would gain support
and a larger audience for the final product to be released. These sights are all about
media creations such as this. They could
distribute it as a suggested video, add it
to the homepage or even use the
product as an advertisement for other
videos. Here’s an example of an
advertisement being used alongside a
video as a hyperlink to an external
website. Also shows off the availabilty to
feature a video for advertisement. This
would work well along with the idea of
being able to suggest videos to people
who are already apparent to the same genre or video type.
This would work well in a partnership with a company such as
Warner Bros producing and distributing the finished film. The
film would need to gain a big enough audience to make the
company product and giving trailers or short previews is what
makes people excited for the film and makes them want to go
watch it when released. So using two distributors together
2. effectively would help to give us a larger and more proficient audience for our thriller
along with targeting an audience that wants to see a movie such as ours. With the
Youtube comment system we can interact with the audience to address needs quickly
and efficiently.
Another example could be to enter or develop the product as part of a competition
aimed towards people like me, creating their first thriller and giving them the opportunity
to gain experience in what they’re doing and an audience of other people of similar
talents and ideas. This would also aid in contribution back about the media product and
a more controlled and centralized audience. Another option to consider would be to try
and screen my opening at a local cinema or schools to gain a larger audience to view
my product.
