5. Distribution company's role
The main job of a distributor is to get as many people as possible to see your
movie, having a popular company that is well known and has a very good
reputation will increase the amount of people who see it. The distribution
companies will represent your film and are normally the ones who set things like
the release date.
7. Disney:
Disney only distribute the films that they
make themselves. This means that they
most likely will not want to distribute my
film. Also on top of this their films are
normally quite family friendly, and are
targeted at an audience younger than
mine.
8. 20th century fox:
20th century fox distributes a
large variety of well known films
including avatar and X-men,
these movies will have a very
high budget as most of them are
action and need special effects.
Because my movie is a thriller
and has quite a low budget, with
no special effects, i don't think
that this distributor will want my
film.
9. Paramount:
paramount distribute a range of
different films from different
genres, from horror to action. As
paramount are quite a well known
company they distribute very well
known movies with very famous
actors in them, most of these films
normally have quite a lot of money
spent on them, however even
though my film has quite a low
budget i think that my film fits in
with some of the movies they
distribute. I think out of the three i
have looked at this will be the best
option.
11. Paramount:
Paramount are an extremely well known company who have a reputation of
distributing amazing films that make a lot of money. Being distributed by a company
who makes successful films with famous actors will help increase the amount of
people who might watch my film. I think that my film fits in well with the rest of
paramount's movies as mine is thriller and is aimed at 15-24. However because
paramount is a famous company distributing my film may cause a slight financial
issue as my film is quite low budget.
13. There are many ways a film can be advertised, billboard's, youtube, tv,
social media and posters, these are the most common ways of
advertising a film, i think that i would first put my trailer on tv channels
and onto youtube and then after a while set a release date and bring
out posters to put on billboards and buses, as well as creating a
facebook page to get people sharing the trailer online.
15. There are many different ways to distribute a film including dvd and blu ray, however there is
also now the modern ways which include putting the film out on netflix and now tv so that
people who prefer not to buy dvd can still watch the film. Another way to get my film out there
is to put it onto itunes and google play so that younger viewers or people who don't have
access to a tv or laptop can watch it on their phones.
