Personal Narrative-Humorous Weddings
I woke up to the smell of love on that muggy, August morning. There was absolutely no time to
waste on sleeping, so I scrambled around the house reaching for the last of the items I would need
for the day. I stumbled to the car in my bright pink tank top and cool green shorts, and we were on
our way. My mom and I knew the morning would be unsuccessful without a little sugar, so we made
a brief pit stop for my favorite breakfast snack ever: Cini Minis from Burger King! We then
proceeded to our work for the day.
When we arrived at our first stop, Garbo's Salon, the rest of the bridesmaids were already occupying
most of the beauty chairs. I spotted my sister–in–law placed in the far corner and ran to her with
many hugs in store. My hair stylist rushed over to begin the intricate task of styling my lion's mane.
Eventually, she managed to mask the frizz with a few curls. She added the finishing touches to my
hair, and it was time to start working on my nails. My mom grabbed the perfect pink polish and
started making progress on my under–manicured toenails. The day was shaping up to be perfect. Or
so I thought...I totally forgot that weddings are a major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dancing, eating, and hanging out with my cousins were all activities that I could not refuse.
Apparently sitting at the kids table had its perks that night! I had an unlimited amount of
conversation with people my age, which made me feel more comfortable and allowed me to step
outside my box for the rest of the night. I even started dancing with people I barely knew! My
favorite area was the mint table, where I met a few nice old women. Talking wasn't so bad after all!
Confidence was the key. As long as I answered truthfully, there was no way anyone could think
negatively of me. When I returned home that night, I crashed with a tranquil air about me. Speaking
my mind wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Nobody could judge me for

The Last Space Lord
I am number 69, the last of my kind. We were the space lords and there were 70 of us on earth. We
came because the Virus Fang destroyed our planet. We came here in individual transport– no two–
space lords came together. The way that I made it here is by a Legof. A Legof is the name of our
spaceships back on my planet that can travel in any atmosphere and disguise itself as anything. The
Legof is as living as I am. Most of us traveled that way, but there were a few of us who knew how to
teleport. Now I am the last one left to save the world from the Virus Fang. I have been hiding from
the monsters that killed most of my brothers. The Virus Fang search to destroy all life from space
lords to humans.
The scars of my dead brethren are split between my two legs. Each of the scars is engraved with a
small picture of which of my brethren it represents, leaving a memory of those who I have lost in
battle. The scars hurt every once in a while. It's almost like they are still living as a part of me. Some
mornings I wake up and the pain is so unbearable that I actually believe that my brethren are
crawling out of the scars on my leg and coming back to life.
It's morning. It seems almost impossible to get out of my warm, cozy confortable bed on this
seemingly normal morning. But the warm smell of hot cocoa in the air awakens me filling with
happiness and joy. All of my childhood memories of my mom's delicious hot cocoa. It is almost like
I'm in one of those human children cartoons,

Sample Resume : On Campus At Sheridan College
Introduction
Students living on campus at Sheridan College are required to purchase a meal plan when they
enroll, which consists of certain amounts of meal swipes and flex dollars. Meal swipes are worth
about $8.99 and each flex dollar is equal to one dollar. This year, students can only use meal swipes
at dinner between 5–7 p.m., Monday through Sunday as well as for brunch on Saturdays and
Sundays. Flex dollars can be used at all the other times. The cheapest meal plans cost $1,400, and
depending on which plan is chosen, students are offered a range of 80–110 meal swipes and $450–
660 flex dollars. The dining hours Monday through Friday for breakfast are 7–10:30 a.m., lunch
hours are 10:30–2 p.m., and dinner hours are 5–7 p.m. Dining hours for brunch on Saturday and
Sunday are 11–1 p.m. and dinner hours are 5–7 p.m. Because students are only allowed to use meal
swipes at dinner, many swipes are not being utilized.
My report will be divided into five different sections, Statement of the Problem, Research Methods,
Results, Conclusions, and Recommendations. The Statement of the Problem will address what the
problem or issue is, as well as causes and effects. In the Research Methods section I will explain
how I gathered my information, whether by online research, interviews, or other sources. The
Results section records my findings after I conducted research, interviewed faculty, and surveyed
students. I will analyze the data from the results and explain what it means in the

Personal Narrative: My English Heritage
How does your heritage affect you today? My English heritage doesn't effect me, but I would like to
try some traditions. Those things I would like to try is traditional foods, sports known in England,
and religious holidays.
When I thought of tradition, the first thing that came to my mind was food. Some of these foods
seem weird and gross and others look really good. So I chose ones that looked good or okay. Let's
start off with pancakes. Pancakes are better cooked on a pan. I love these and my grandma makes
really good pancakes. Next on the list is fish and chips. Fish and chips is fish and french fries. Fun
fact, french fries are from france and belgium. the fish is normally, salmon, catfish, cod, or tilapia.
The final food is bangers and mash. this may sound wierd but it sounds really good to me. Mainly
because it is sausage baked in batter. It's one step away from a corn dog. This is the food I would
like to try because when I saw it, it seemed like it wouldn't be too bad. But hey, don't judge a book

England has so many holiday so I chose ones that appealed to me. The first one that caught my eyes
was saint David's day. This is the commemoration of saint David's death. Families go to relatives
and have lunch or dinner. The next once one I noticed was shakespeare day. William shakespeare
was and still is a well known writer and poet. The date that they celebrate it is april 23rd. This is
also the date of world write and copyright day which is why the holiday is that day. People visit
where he was born and go to museums to see his poems. Now to top it off I'm chose ascension day.
Acsension day made think it is like a birthday for your kids and a lot like christmas but It is a little
different. It is actually for the last appearence of jesus after the ressurection on easter. This day is
celebrated 40 days after easter. this year it will be on may 5. Most people get work off and churches

The Breakfast Buddy Program
When I was in high school I was actively involved in my community. I have tried to get as involved
here at UNCW but have not found the resources that I was looking for until now. In high school, I
was a Teacher Cadet, a Breakfast Buddy and a member of JROTC. Teacher Cadets was a program at
my high school where students who had been selected by the coordinator, with letters of
recommendation from other teachers, were already well involved in the community and could be
trusted were picked to go out to various middle schools and teach lessons to different grade levels.
In some instances, you were paired with another student, but most often you were alone. We went to
two schools each week and a third every other week. Not only did we have to create ... Show more

During this time, we had a small conversation and were able to gain the trust from these children.
This program was to show these kids things they had to look forward to in school and give them a
role model that they might not have at home. The most rewarding program for me was JROTC,
which is a military style extracurricular that I submerged myself into during my freshman year of
high school. Through this, I was actively involved until I graduated high school, and from time to
time I do go back and talk to the class about the accomplishments I have made. Many kids joined
JROTC because they were problem children and needed some discipline because they wanted a
future in the military, or because it was just another class to take. During my junior and senior years
of high school, I noticed just how many of these kids were behaving badly because that was all they
knew. Instead of being like most people and yelling at them to "get their act together" I talked with
them and tried to understand where they were coming

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Essay
I can no longer eat eggs by themselves. I can't eat them scrambled, poached, sunny side up, in an
omelet or even on a McGriddle from McDonalds. They were forever ruined for me, because of my
childhood. Many days we would have eggs for breakfast and then have egg variations for dinner.
They were a very inexpensive and filling food, which were essential qualities for us. My mom has
been a single mother of two for all of my life. My brother was two when she had me and although
love was abundant in the household, money never was. We ended up moving in with my
grandparents to help with the cost of living, but still times were tough. I can remember bits and
pieces of our financial hardships throughout the years, like having to go to our local church for
school supplies and clothes before school started. However, our biggest financial support came from
when we started receiving SNAP. We received SNAP benefits from the time I was seven all the way
up until I was in the eighth grade and I can't imagine where my family would have been without it.
In this paper, I will be delving into the history and transformation of the program that would go on
to save not only the lives of my family, but the lives of many other families, as well. The foundation

vegetables accessible to those with low incomes" (John, 2011). She goes on to report that in

Attach the excel pages that calculate the percentages of the experiential ratings to this worksheet.
Use this data to analyze your experiential ratings and answer the following questions:
What do these frequencies (of productivity, pleasure, vitality, and time–pressure) say about your
patterns of your occupational experiences? Is one more prominent than the others? Do any co–
occur?
For each category, the highest frequency of ratings was four. For productivity, pleasure, and vitality,
this meant that I was neither productive nor unproductive, neither displeasure or pleasure, and
neither drained or renewed. This may mean that I am often engaging in tasks that ... Show more

I also added the percentages for all experiences ranked over 4. The percentage of time I ranked
myself as productive (ratings 5, 6, and 7) was 11.65% of the time. The percentage of time I ranked
vitality as a 5, 6, and 7 was 12.06%. Finally, the percentage of time I ranked my experiences as
pleasurable (ratings 5, 6, and 7) was 12.32%. I had more pleasurable experiences than productive or
renewing experiences.
What experiences were most common at certain times of the day (the morning, afternoon, evening)?
For example, were you more productive in the early morning, mid–morning, early afternoon, late
afternoon, evening or late night? Did you find more pleasure during meals or late afternoon? Look
for your patterns.
I tended to show more productive experiences in the morning or early afternoon. I was least
productive late at night. I had the least amount of pleasurable experiences at work, in class and
while working on homework. I had the most amount of pleasurable experiences spending time with
others and relaxing. Breakfast and mornings tended to be more pleasurable. I found more pleasure
in breakfast than other meals. I felt the most drained waiting for things to start, such as waiting for
class or waiting for the bus. Additionally, I felt more drained coming home from work at night. I felt
more restored when spending time with people and after organizing my schedule in the afternoons. I

Childhood hunger and obesity are two of the major problems facing Arkansas, U.S. Senator Blanche
Lincoln's hometown. In a recent Feeding America report found that Arkansas has one of the highest
rates of childhood hunger, one in four children live in hunger so, she decided to do something about
it (Lincoln, 2015). The Healthy, Hunger–Free Kids bills was introduce on May 5th, 2010 by U.S.
Senator and a Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, Blanche

The Car Ride From America
I just hated the car ride from Illinois to New York. Not to mention that Pennsylvania is the worst
state to drive through. It was worth it to see my Aunt and new uncle and the baby but before that
let's recap. Mom, Lauren and I are in the car on our way to see my aunt Meghan but she lives in
New York and we live in Illinois. When we get to New York we go to the hospital and she my aunt.
As we get to the room she is in the bathroom and her water breaks. We are out in the hallway
because the nurses are trying to see if there's any complications.
When we go into the room my aunt is in bed and she's super pregnant. It looked like she had a
pumpkin inside her! She wasn't allowed to eat all day she was on a clear food's diet, which means

We stayed for the longest time but I liked being with the baby I took so many pictures that my
phone heated up so much that it said, " Please wait you phone has overheated wait 10 minutes

was overheating I would have set it down but I have an otterbox case. But then we left and got our
dinner which was ruby tuesday because it was one of the closest thing to our hotel.
After that we went to bed because we had to get up at 9:00 am to go see Meghan and Nazire. We
went to panera bread for breakfast and my mom let us get whatever we wanted so I had soup for
breakfast. Then we went to the hospital and Meghan was still in her bed just chillin. Then the doctor
walked in with a very serious look on his face. Meghan just said " What's wrong with my baby"
" I'm so sorry ma'am but your baby has a very low blood sugar"
" Is there a way to fix it" I asked
"Yes" I felt a rush of relief when I heard that.
" If he eats his meals"
Meghan was relieved and for some reason he wouldn't eat her breast milk so we started to give him
formula. I can't even remember what happened after but we stayed late again we went to chipotle for
dinner and It was good then we went back to the hotel and I was so excited to go into the hot tub

Family Story And Origin Of A New Environment
Every family story and origin is unique to the members of the immediate group, while including the
traditions passed from generation to generation. From the scent of their house and clothes, special
holidays, vacation spots, memories, what they eat and how it is served; all of these elements of life
are distinct to a family. These elements are incorporated into what is viewed as normal life in a way
that we don't see how our lives differ from those around us, until we are faced with a situation where
things are done differently than us. Many families contain multi – cultural backgrounds, therefore
providing generations with traditions that include folklore from different origins. One of the biggest
elements of culture how dishes are served and prepared. If you ever travel, one of the biggest
attractions to a new environment is the food that is served in that area. Some food traditions are
difficult to explain and don't make sense to outsiders, but to the family or local group it is a sense of
definition and unity through foodways. In Louisiana especially, with Cajun culture, we see many
festivals and events that are food based, and the pride in the locals that serve it. My family, all born
and raised in the South, participate in the spicy food, crawfish boils, jambalaya sales, gumbo
cooking events that this culture offers. From a young age I can remember waking up on a Saturday
morning in the fall, feeling the crisp air flow through the house as we had the windows open,

Healthy People: Reviewing the School Breakfast Programs
Healthy People 2020: School breakfast programs
One of the Healthy People objectives pertaining to adolescents is increasing the number of schools
that participate in school breakfast programs. "68.6 percent of schools overall, including public
and private elementary, middle, and high schools, had a school breakfast program in 2006"
(Adolescent health, 2013, Healthy People 2013). The goal of Healthy People 2020 is an increase of
10 percent to 75.5Â percent of schools that offer breakfasts to students.
The importance of a healthy breakfast cannot be underestimated. A child who is undernourished in
the morning will not be functional for her class until lunch. Also, schools can act as supporters of
positive, healthy behaviors by offering nutritious breakfasts such as fruit and yogurt, versus the fast
food breakfasts some adolescents might grab, if they get breakfast at all. Many school districts are
beginning earlier and earlier in the day, and students are simply not hungry enough or do not get up
early enough in the morning for breakfast, leaving them starving by 10am. Being able to grab
breakfast in study hall can thus prevent many potential academic and nutritional problems.
Very few schools provide their own self–funded breakfast programs. Public schools are facing
cutbacks nation–wide, in terms of the social services they provide for children. The main focus of
many districts is on concentrating scarce economic resources on programs that will enable students
to pass

The School Breakfast Program For Children
Hunger has been a prevalent issue in both established communities and struggling nations around
the globe. It seems that there has never been a time when every person on the planet was food
secure, and while it is typically assumed that hunger is an issue only in developing nations,
malnutrition and hunger are concerns even in the United States. Millions of children across the
country live in homes where food is scarce and meals are skipped on a regular basis. Because
research supports the connection between nutrition, good health, and cognitive ability, it is critical
that methods of addressing food shortages for minor children be found. One solution, the School
Breakfast Program, seeks to provide healthy breakfast meals for children ... Show more content on

2). The likely cause of this decline is not only a lack of financial ability to provide a morning meal
but greater reliance on children of single–parent and socioeconomically deprived families to prepare
themselves for school in the morning.
One in four American children live in food–insecure households, meaning that they lack adequate
access to food of any type, not just food with significant nutritional value (Ford, 2013, p. 58). As
these families are the most likely to have children who both leave for and return home from school
to an empty house, they are also the most likely to have children who prepare meals for themselves.
Often, children fail to nourish themselves, skipping meals when they are running late or because
they find nothing in the pantry they are capable of preparing. These students ready themselves (and
sometimes siblings) for school and frequently don't take their first meal until mid–day, losing
precious hours of instructional time to distraction over food, fatigue due to low levels of
nourishment, and other physical ailments tied to poor nutrition. If school breakfasts were free and
readily available to all public school students, morning meals would be

Building A School Breakfast Program
Reflection #1
By: Charmaine Warford
June 2013
Churches in our area are involved in mission in social action by being active in the community
pertaining to issues of marriage, family and sexuality issues as well as environmental and rural
affairs.
The churches mission in church growth is seen in weddings, baptisms, funerals. Church services for
prayer, praise and worship. Voluntary activities, further educational programs, youth programs,
visiting the sick and elderly.
The churches mission as public witness is exemplified by its presence in the community. Example
would be a school breakfast program performed by volunteers from the church community. Setting
an example as Christ would have it do. 1.
God's mission is about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is God's mission, not ours. It is God that gives us the power to accomplish the mission. We need to
get out of our churches and move out to the people. We often ask people to "come" and join us, but
Jesus says Go! Teaching is critical. Observe Jesus' commandments namely, to love God with all out
heart, soul and mind and our neighbor as ourselves. Christ is with us always. 3.
Matthew 28: 18–20
"And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go
therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And
remember I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Mission in the scriptures is God's mission, empowered by the Holy Spirit and carried out following
the pattern of Jesus' ministry. It involves preaching, healing, calling to commitment, feeding the
hungry, changing corrupt systems, teaching, liberating the captives, witnessing. It is our
responsibility today as followers of Christ to participate in God's mission.
But, above all else, the scriptures tell of Jesus' message of transformation, not just change, but a
newness, a freshness and a fullness of life he makes possible. We are to be transformed,

Preparing Breakfast For The Kids
SUNDAY MORNING Thank God Dylan and Mykle didn't make a peep the rest of the night. I even
slept a couple of hours before quietly stepping down the ladder and continuing down the stairs to the
kitchen. My craving for morning caffeine had to be satisfied. After sitting down and sipping the
fresh and hot roasted brew, I started to devise a plan of action for the day. Craig counseled me that
the first session with the boys should start from the beginning of my relationship with Lynn and end
with our decision and reasons for divorcing. That's what I plan to do. Instead of having breakfast
while the boys are asleep, I think bringing back a Keenig family Sunday ritual may help ease

Fr. Glenn Marino, our Parish priest of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, determined that Dylan
possessed the use of reason and that he knew and understood what the Eucharist was and was ready
to receive this sacrament. Lynn and I thought Dylan was too young but to ease our apprehension Fr.
Marino cited the part of the Church's Canon Law that referenced the age of readiness for this
sacrament. "It is primarily the duty of parents and those who take the place of parents, as well as the
duty of pastors, to take care that children who have reached the use of reason are prepared properly
and they have made sacramental confession, are refreshed with this divine food as soon as possible."
Dylan is nearly 13 years old now and at the age where he should be preparing to be confirmed into
the realm of the Roman Catholic Church. But since the hectic events leading up to the divorce
blocked his confirmation proceedings, Dylan is behind other practicing Catholics of his age.
Subsequently, Mykle at the age of nine is also behind in his obligations to the church. I have talked
to Lynn in the past to motivate the boys in their religious endeavors but my words just fell on deaf
ears. If my mother, be it the religious person that she is, ever finds out that the boys are off course in
their religious obligations, she would have my head. I must rather deal with Lynn than with Mom
over this issue of faith and was now determined to go behind my ex–wife's back and take the boys

Eggo Cinnamon Toast Waffles : A Short Story
"Eli get out of bed!!!" My parents yell as I wake with a shudder. I roll over to see that I was

The Impact Of Meals Breakfast Program ( Sbp )
What is the impact of providing breakfast in the classroom?
"The School Breakfast Program (SBP) was established in 1966 as a two–year pilot project designed
to provide categorical grants to assist schools serving breakfasts to nutritionally needy children"
(United States Department of Agricutlure Food and Nutrition Program, 2013). It served over 80,000
for $573,000 in its first year, and now the federally funded program funds 89,000 schools and
institutions to provide meal programs. In 2012, ten million children received free or reduced priced
breakfasts with over 12.9 million children participating daily which costs over $3.3 billion (United
States Department of Agricutlure Food and Nutrition Program, 2013).

Breakfast And Weight Loss Program Essay
Breakfast And Weight Loss Program By Baidi Awang Feb 23, 2013 Breakfast And Weight Loss. Do
not skip a meal when you are trying to lose weight, especially breakfast. Eat your meals on a
schedule, and always eat in the morning. A simple breakfast will have the most impact on your
weight. Try a whole grain cereal, or whole wheat toast and plain eggs. Fruit is a good choice also.
Stop over eating. Eat smaller portions more often. The healthiest is to have 5–6 meals a day. If you
can 't eat that many times, try to have a filling breakfast and eat smaller meals or snacks during the
day. Avoid three course, calorie packed dinners. Your body doesn 't need that much energy for the
few more hours you will be awake. Most of the energy will be stored in fat which makes you gain
weight. Make sure that you eat breakfast every morning. Research has shown that people who eat
breakfast each morning take in fewer calories during the day than those who do not eat breakfast.
Since the primary part of weight loss is burning more calories than you take in, the less you take in
the better. Protein plays a big role in helping curb hunger. You should try to include at least some
protein in all your meals – for example, drinking skim or soy milk at breakfast instead of juice with
your cereal. Protein snacks, such as a handful of nuts, can also go a long way toward curbing hunger
in between meals. Keep a food diary. Carry a notebook with you and write down everything that
you eat and drink,

Speech On Breakfast
This paper intends to inform the reader about the history of breakfast and how it came to exist in the
form in which it is consumed today; while also bringing to light the importance of breakfast, despite
limitations due to time, particularly among young students and working people (millennials), by
bringing forth the benefits of eating in the mornings, and also building relationships and connecting
through meals.
The Tudors of England invented the very concept of breakfast. Breakfast was a nameless, non time–
specific, non–entity that did not even exist before 1600. The origin of the word breakfast can be
traced back to 1463. According to the Oxford Dictionary, breakfast was used as a noun to describe
the meal with which a person breaks his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The volunteers under study showed up to 500 cal more energy consumption in light intensity
movement as compared to that of their breakfast–skipping counterparts. Breakfast skippers were not
compelled to gouge down more during lunch or dinner, but did feel more sluggish in the mornings.
To sum it up, the study revealed that in terms of weight loss, breakfast 'may just be another meal',
but when it comes to getting that engine revved up, and stepping on the gas to power through the
day, breakfast is in fact very important.
Marketing in the mid 1800s had an impact on the popularity of breakfast and how it was perceived.
Before corporate cereal advertising, breakfast was in fact not given that much importance. It was
viewed to be the same as lunch or dinner. The advent of the cereal market added a new dimension to
breakfast. Advertising had a significant influence on the perception that breakfast was the most

School Breakfast Programs There are many benefits and many possible drawbacks for the
participation in a federal school breakfast program. The USDA sponsors the federal school breakfast
program. The relationship between hunger and the ability to learn are very closely related. Of the
many benefits to a school breakfast program, one includes the assurance that the children are eating
a balanced meal during the school day. In turn researchers believe that eating a balanced healthy
breakfast leads children in enhancing attention and alertness, energy and motivation, concentration
and self–discipline (Ragno, 1994).

In addition classrooms remain clean, students cooperate, and show leadership (American Teacher,

the morning. School breakfast can help those with busy life styles an can also play a significant role
in reducing a growing national problem – hunger (Neifert, 1993).
Students over the years have shown that breakfast can start a child's day off right. Recent studies
show that breakfast actually helps children learn better, they also show that eating a nutritious
breakfast improves children's performance on cognitive test especially involving memory.
Student's performance increased when students ate breakfast. The teacher of a classroom studied,

A Shape In Truman Capote's A Christmas Story
There must be something to fruitcake. It appears at Christmas every year without fail. And yet, it's
also the brunt of some serious jokes. (Who can forget Johnny Carson proclaiming that there is only
one fruitcake in the entire world: It just gets passed around a lot...)
But thankfully, that's not all there is to it, according to Smithsonian.com. In Truman Capote's "A
Christmas Story," some weather officially counts as fruitcake weather, which attests to this seasonal
concoction's staying power and unique deliciousness.
Truth be told, fruitcake in some form goes all the way back to the Romans, who mixed up raisins,
pomegranate seeds, barley, and a plethora of nuts to form what was probably history's first energy
bar. Along the way, people began to add spices. And rum. And even some melted butter and sugary
glazing. It seems that the butt of many people's Christmas jokes is actually quite delicious. It's just
that its reputation hasn't quite caught up with the truth of this holiday treat.
That's where you and your leftover fruitcake come in. You know it has potential to be truly
magnificent, given its long history. You just don't quite know what to do with it. No problem. We've
collected some of the tastiest recipes for leftover fruitcake around. We promise. They really ARE
delicious. We've tried them.

School Breakfast Programs
For most kids waking up in the morning, getting dressed and sitting down to a bowl of cereal and
some toast is a normal occurrence for them. However for some students that luxury may not be
possible. Over the past couple of years several states across the US have spent millions of dollars
and served over 360 million breakfasts and lunches for children who cannot afford to have a regular
priced meal or who don't have money for food at all. With these programs producing such great
results for the children in the classroom and out of school more and more states have begun to
implement similar programs for underprivileged children. One of the major reasons for the

One recent day he finds 14–year old Trevor getting off the bus with a frown and slips him a

The Idea Of School Breakfast Programs
Introduction
The idea of school breakfast programs originated in 1966 in the United States as a way to provide
nutritious foods to children from low–income families (Food Nutrition Service, 2013). It wasn't
until 1992, that breakfast clubs in Canada and other school breakfast programs adopted this idea and
was established to help nourish our young Canadian minds – school breakfast programs subsidized
meal and snack programs designed to help children gain access to a healthy breakfast or snack
(Breakfast Clubs of Canada, 2012). As noted in the study Nourishing Young Minds (2012), a report
done by the Toronto Public Health, the quality and nutritional value of these meal and snack
programs are regulated by Canada's nutritional guidelines, in order to ensure adequate nutritional
values for young children (p. 7). Moreover, these programs are being funded through various
government grants, local donation and parental supports; however, the need for funding and amount
of funding provided depends on the community (Breakfast for Learning, 2014; Breakfast Clubs of
Canada, 2012; De Wit, 2012, p.34).
It has been noted that this meal and snack program is currently being presented in both public and
private schools, as well as in various community–based establishments, giving the access of healthy
foods to a wide range of children of various family backgrounds (Breakfast for Learning, 2014, p.1–
2; De Wit, 2012, p. 1). Moreover, studies have been conducted to demonstrate the actual

The multinational breakfast foods company United Cereal entered European markets in 1952. By
the year 2010 Europe´s breakfast cereal market has grown to a $7 billion business which has proven
to be a profitable market segment and therefore attracted various competitors. Only four actors
account for 70% of market share in the European markets. Among them are Kellogg which is

company´s organizational structure, UC would be given the opportunity of reducing the number of
employees and cutting marketing and product development costs by 10% to 15% within just three
years.
The global recession in 2008/2009 did not just lead to a change in consumption towards an
increasing demand for cheaper products in the product range but it was also responsible for a
decrease in market growth that resulted in a growth rate less than 1% annually. However UC faces
the threat of strong competitors. The largest competitors is Kellogg which is the market leader with
a share of 26%. Kellogg has the advantage to lower operating costs due to its volume. Along with
this increased market competition in Europe, UC was also threatened by a price and promotion
pressure outgoing from its major rivals Kellogg and United Cereal. An ongoing fight for market
share, and high costs and investment of time in order to develop new brands are just two more
factors that UC and its competitors face in daily business. Another market condition that can be
identified as an external threat (and opportunity) is the great variation in consumption. Consumers´
cereal consumption varies greatly throughout Europe. While approximately 8/kg year were

Persuasive Essay : Gym Class
Holding his loaded breakfast food tray, Matt scanned the cafeteria for a place to sit. To his left
preened the jocks and cheerleaders, definitely not the group to go near. On his right sat the nerds and

School Lunch And Breakfast Programs Essay
Thomas Edison, a world–renowned inventor, once said: "The doctor of the future will no longer
treat the human frame with drugs, but rather will cure and prevent disease with nutrition" (Norton).
While medicines and antibiotics can be very useful in certain situations, nutrition is key in
maintaining a healthy lifestyle. However, many students cannot maintain a healthy lifestyle due to a
lack of nutrition in school foods. In order to solve this problem, stricter standards must be
implemented into school lunch and breakfast programs. To effectively improve the nutritional value
of foods offered by both primary and secondary schools, stricter legislation must be enforced by the
United States Government. While it may seem that nutritional problems are only affecting schools
in the United States, many other nations are experiencing similar problems. For example, many
schools in Wales do not provide healthy, nutritious choices for their students. According to the
National Foundation for Educational Research, 17/26 secondary schools in Wales offer chips on a
daily basis and 22/26 secondary schools in Wales offer cakes on a daily basis" (Nicholas, et al. 38).
Offering these unhealthy choices to students will oftentimes mislead them into picking those choices
over healthier options. This statistic helps show the enormity of the nutritional problem with foods
in schools. Not only does this problem affect students in America, but it also affects students in
other countries, such as

The School Breakfast Program Programs
SUMMARY
The school breakfast program is where preschool kids can start the day with good breakfast. Studies
have shown feeding children a nutritious breakfast increases their school performance, nutrition
intake, and overall health while decreasing obesity, discipline problems, and illnesses. There is
concern that children might be coming to school without eating breakfast and still not be
participating in the school breakfast program for variety of reasons, including a perceived stigma
associating school breakfast participating with poverty. Breakfast is an important meal and several
studies appear to link the consumption of nutritious breakfast to improved dietary status and school
performance. One approach to increasing participation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In over 12.9 million children participated in the program every day, and 10.1 million received a free
or reduced–price meal. The program was designed to assist school system to provide nutrition
breakfast for all children in the unite state especially those childrens from low income family
(Gndersen, Craig, and Michele Ver Ploeg 2015). How does the school breakfast program works, the
school districts and independent schools that choose to take part in the breakfast program receive
cash subsidies from the U.S Department of Agriculture (USDA) for each meal they serve, and they
have to serve breakfast that meet federal requirements, and they must offer free or reduced price
breakfasts to eligible children. According to the U.S department of agriculture the children who
qualify for free and reduced breakfast program, the children will from families with incomes at or
below 130 percent of the federal poverty level are eligible for free meals, but those incomes
between 130 percent and 185 percent of poverty level are eligible for reduced–price meals. In the
year 2012, the school breakfast program cost $3.3 billion, up from $1.9 billion in the year 2005. The
cost in previous years was in 1970, $10.8 million; in 1980, $287.8 million; in 1990, $599.1 million;
and in 2000, $1.39 billion (Gndersen, Craig, and Michele Ver Ploeg

Personal Narrative-Humorous Weddings

  • 1. Personal Narrative-Humorous Weddings I woke up to the smell of love on that muggy, August morning. There was absolutely no time to waste on sleeping, so I scrambled around the house reaching for the last of the items I would need for the day. I stumbled to the car in my bright pink tank top and cool green shorts, and we were on our way. My mom and I knew the morning would be unsuccessful without a little sugar, so we made a brief pit stop for my favorite breakfast snack ever: Cini Minis from Burger King! We then proceeded to our work for the day. When we arrived at our first stop, Garbo's Salon, the rest of the bridesmaids were already occupying most of the beauty chairs. I spotted my sister–in–law placed in the far corner and ran to her with many hugs in store. My hair stylist rushed over to begin the intricate task of styling my lion's mane. Eventually, she managed to mask the frizz with a few curls. She added the finishing touches to my hair, and it was time to start working on my nails. My mom grabbed the perfect pink polish and started making progress on my under–manicured toenails. The day was shaping up to be perfect. Or so I thought...I totally forgot that weddings are a major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dancing, eating, and hanging out with my cousins were all activities that I could not refuse. Apparently sitting at the kids table had its perks that night! I had an unlimited amount of conversation with people my age, which made me feel more comfortable and allowed me to step outside my box for the rest of the night. I even started dancing with people I barely knew! My favorite area was the mint table, where I met a few nice old women. Talking wasn't so bad after all! Confidence was the key. As long as I answered truthfully, there was no way anyone could think negatively of me. When I returned home that night, I crashed with a tranquil air about me. • 2. The Last Space Lord I am number 69, the last of my kind. We were the space lords and there were 70 of us on earth. We came because the Virus Fang destroyed our planet. We came here in individual transport– no two– space lords came together. The way that I made it here is by a Legof. A Legof is the name of our spaceships back on my planet that can travel in any atmosphere and disguise itself as anything. The Legof is as living as I am. Most of us traveled that way, but there were a few of us who knew how to teleport. Now I am the last one left to save the world from the Virus Fang. I have been hiding from the monsters that killed most of my brothers. The Virus Fang search to destroy all life from space lords to humans. The scars of my dead brethren are split between my two legs. Each of the scars is engraved with a small picture of which of my brethren it represents, leaving a memory of those who I have lost in battle. The scars hurt every once in a while. It's almost like they are still living as a part of me. Some mornings I wake up and the pain is so unbearable that I actually believe that my brethren are crawling out of the scars on my leg and coming back to life. It's morning. It seems almost impossible to get out of my warm, cozy confortable bed on this seemingly normal morning. But the warm smell of hot cocoa in the air awakens me filling with happiness and joy. All of my childhood memories of my mom's delicious hot cocoa. It is almost like I'm in one of those human children cartoons, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Sample Resume : On Campus At Sheridan College Introduction Students living on campus at Sheridan College are required to purchase a meal plan when they enroll, which consists of certain amounts of meal swipes and flex dollars. Meal swipes are worth about $8.99 and each flex dollar is equal to one dollar. This year, students can only use meal swipes at dinner between 5–7 p.m., Monday through Sunday as well as for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Flex dollars can be used at all the other times. The cheapest meal plans cost $1,400, and depending on which plan is chosen, students are offered a range of 80–110 meal swipes and $450– 660 flex dollars. The dining hours Monday through Friday for breakfast are 7–10:30 a.m., lunch hours are 10:30–2 p.m., and dinner hours are 5–7 p.m. Dining hours for brunch on Saturday and Sunday are 11–1 p.m. and dinner hours are 5–7 p.m. Because students are only allowed to use meal swipes at dinner, many swipes are not being utilized. My report will be divided into five different sections, Statement of the Problem, Research Methods, Results, Conclusions, and Recommendations. The Statement of the Problem will address what the problem or issue is, as well as causes and effects. In the Research Methods section I will explain how I gathered my information, whether by online research, interviews, or other sources. My English heritage doesn't effect me, but I would like to try some traditions. Those things I would like to try is traditional foods, sports known in England, and religious holidays. When I thought of tradition, the first thing that came to my mind was food. Some of these foods seem weird and gross and others look really good. So I chose ones that looked good or okay. Let's start off with pancakes. Pancakes are better cooked on a pan. I love these and my grandma makes really good pancakes. Next on the list is fish and chips. Fish and chips is fish and french fries. Fun fact, french fries are from france and belgium. the fish is normally, salmon, catfish, cod, or tilapia. The final food is bangers and mash. this may sound wierd but it sounds really good to me. Mainly because it is sausage baked in batter. It's one step away from a corn dog. I have tried to get as involved here at UNCW but have not found the resources that I was looking for until now. In high school, I was a Teacher Cadet, a Breakfast Buddy and a member of JROTC. Teacher Cadets was a program at my high school where students who had been selected by the coordinator, with letters of recommendation from other teachers, were already well involved in the community and could be trusted were picked to go out to various middle schools and teach lessons to different grade levels. Through this, I was actively involved until I graduated high school, and from time to time I do go back and talk to the class about the accomplishments I have made. Many kids joined JROTC because they were problem children and needed some discipline because they wanted a future in the military, or because it was just another class to take. They were forever ruined for me, because of my childhood. Many days we would have eggs for breakfast and then have egg variations for dinner. They were a very inexpensive and filling food, which were essential qualities for us. My mom has been a single mother of two for all of my life. My brother was two when she had me and although love was abundant in the household, money never was. We ended up moving in with my grandparents to help with the cost of living, but still times were tough. I can remember bits and pieces of our financial hardships throughout the years, like having to go to our local church for school supplies and clothes before school started. However, our biggest financial support came from when we started receiving SNAP. We received SNAP benefits from the time I was seven all the way up until I was in the eighth grade and I can't imagine where my family would have been without it. Family Story And Origin Of A New Environment Every family story and origin is unique to the members of the immediate group, while including the traditions passed from generation to generation. From the scent of their house and clothes, special holidays, vacation spots, memories, what they eat and how it is served; all of these elements of life are distinct to a family. These elements are incorporated into what is viewed as normal life in a way that we don't see how our lives differ from those around us, until we are faced with a situation where things are done differently than us. Many families contain multi – cultural backgrounds, therefore providing generations with traditions that include folklore from different origins. One of the biggest elements of culture how dishes are served and prepared. If you ever travel, one of the biggest attractions to a new environment is the food that is served in that area. Some food traditions are difficult to explain and don't make sense to outsiders, but to the family or local group it is a sense of definition and unity through foodways. In Louisiana especially, with Cajun culture, we see many festivals and events that are food based, and the pride in the locals that serve it. My family, all born and raised in the South, participate in the spicy food, crawfish boils, jambalaya sales, gumbo cooking events that this culture offers. • 11. Healthy People: Reviewing the School Breakfast Programs Healthy People 2020: School breakfast programs One of the Healthy People objectives pertaining to adolescents is increasing the number of schools that participate in school breakfast programs. "68.6 percent of schools overall, including public and private elementary, middle, and high schools, had a school breakfast program in 2006" (Adolescent health, 2013, Healthy People 2013). The goal of Healthy People 2020 is an increase of 10 percent to 75.5 percent of schools that offer breakfasts to students. The importance of a healthy breakfast cannot be underestimated. A child who is undernourished in the morning will not be functional for her class until lunch. Also, schools can act as supporters of positive, healthy behaviors by offering nutritious breakfasts such as fruit and yogurt, versus the fast food breakfasts some adolescents might grab, if they get breakfast at all. Many school districts are beginning earlier and earlier in the day, and students are simply not hungry enough or do not get up early enough in the morning for breakfast, leaving them starving by 10am. Being able to grab breakfast in study hall can thus prevent many potential academic and nutritional problems. Very few schools provide their own self–funded breakfast programs. Public schools are facing cutbacks nation–wide, in terms of the social services they provide for children. The main focus of many districts is on concentrating scarce economic resources on programs that will enable students to pass ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The School Breakfast Program For Children Hunger has been a prevalent issue in both established communities and struggling nations around the globe. It seems that there has never been a time when every person on the planet was food secure, and while it is typically assumed that hunger is an issue only in developing nations, malnutrition and hunger are concerns even in the United States. Millions of children across the country live in homes where food is scarce and meals are skipped on a regular basis. The likely cause of this decline is not only a lack of financial ability to provide a morning meal but greater reliance on children of single–parent and socioeconomically deprived families to prepare themselves for school in the morning. One in four American children live in food–insecure households, meaning that they lack adequate access to food of any type, not just food with significant nutritional value (Ford, 2013, p. 58). As these families are the most likely to have children who both leave for and return home from school to an empty house, they are also the most likely to have children who prepare meals for themselves. Often, children fail to nourish themselves, skipping meals when they are running late or because they find nothing in the pantry they are capable of preparing. These students ready themselves (and sometimes siblings) for school and frequently don't take their first meal until mid–day, losing precious hours of instructional time to distraction over food, fatigue due to low levels of nourishment, and other physical ailments tied to poor nutrition. • 21. Breakfast And Weight Loss Program Essay Breakfast And Weight Loss Program By Baidi Awang Feb 23, 2013 Breakfast And Weight Loss. Do not skip a meal when you are trying to lose weight, especially breakfast. Eat your meals on a schedule, and always eat in the morning. A simple breakfast will have the most impact on your weight. Try a whole grain cereal, or whole wheat toast and plain eggs. Fruit is a good choice also. Stop over eating. Eat smaller portions more often. The healthiest is to have 5–6 meals a day. If you can 't eat that many times, try to have a filling breakfast and eat smaller meals or snacks during the day. Avoid three course, calorie packed dinners. Your body doesn 't need that much energy for the few more hours you will be awake. Most of the energy will be stored in fat which makes you gain weight. Make sure that you eat breakfast every morning. Research has shown that people who eat breakfast each morning take in fewer calories during the day than those who do not eat breakfast. Since the primary part of weight loss is burning more calories than you take in, the less you take in the better. Protein plays a big role in helping curb hunger. You should try to include at least some protein in all your meals – for example, drinking skim or soy milk at breakfast instead of juice with your cereal. My head was throbbing and my wrists and ankles burned from the rope. That 's when I heard you walking down the stairs. My heart was pounding out of my chest. You then slowly unlocked the cage. For the first time I couldn't save myself. You leaned over me, you stunk of stale cigarettes and booze. I knew I could survive the things you would do to me, I just didn't know if I could ever get out. "Morning" you mumbled with a thick southern accent. I didn't answer you, but you seemed to not care, I wanted you to care. You pulled out a granola bar from your pocket and gave me water, I was scared because I knew you wouldn't do this if you ... • 36. Persuasive Essay : Gym Class Holding his loaded breakfast food tray, Matt scanned the cafeteria for a place to sit. To his left preened the jocks and cheerleaders, definitely not the group to go near. On his right sat the nerds and assorted freaks of nature – the cripples, rejects and other assorted dregs of school society. In front of him, off to the left corner, next to the lurking presence of teachers and assistant principals, perched the collaborators. That group, members of student government, yearbook and newspaper staff, huddled whispering and conspiring amongst themselves. Toward the right, taking most of the cafeteria sat the normals – those without an agenda and claw marks on the social ladder of success. The challenge, he knew, was determining where he fit in. This was his second year at Jamesville High, and despite this, he still didn 't know which peg hole suited him. • 37. School Lunch And Breakfast Programs Essay Thomas Edison, a world–renowned inventor, once said: "The doctor of the future will no longer treat the human frame with drugs, but rather will cure and prevent disease with nutrition" (Norton). While medicines and antibiotics can be very useful in certain situations, nutrition is key in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. However, many students cannot maintain a healthy lifestyle due to a lack of nutrition in school foods. In order to solve this problem, stricter standards must be implemented into school lunch and breakfast programs. To effectively improve the nutritional value of foods offered by both primary and secondary schools, stricter legislation must be enforced by the United States Government. While it may seem that nutritional problems are only affecting schools in the United States, many other nations are experiencing similar problems. For example, many schools in Wales do not provide healthy, nutritious choices for their students. According to the National Foundation for Educational Research, 17/26 secondary schools in Wales offer chips on a daily basis and 22/26 secondary schools in Wales offer cakes on a daily basis" (Nicholas, et al. 38). Offering these unhealthy choices to students will oftentimes mislead them into picking those choices over healthier options. This statistic helps show the enormity of the nutritional problem with foods in schools. Not only does this problem affect students in America, but it also affects students in other countries, such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
