1. Recipes For Children
In the hussle and bussle of today's world, finding and preparing easy and healthy recipes for kids
can be a struggle! And then when you find them, there is so much that can goes into them: planning
the menu, making the grocery list, driving to the store, doing the shopping, checking out in the long
line, paying the bill, and driving home not to mention preparing the meal and sitting down to feast
on your hard work.
Without missing a beat, the inevitable always seems to happen...the complaints.
"I don't like this".
"This looks weird".
"I don't like this color."
"I want pizza!"
"Can I have a cookie instead?"
Nutrition plays a vital role in our children's development, and we know this. But how easy is it to
just grab a frozen pizza and call it a day! While tempting as it sounds, it's our responsibility as
parents to find healthy recipes for kids that can be prepared and enjoyed at the family table. ... Show

But before I get to them, let's first discuss some tips on helping us plan some healthy recipes for kids
and ways to get our kids excited for them!
1) Make a quick list of the foods your children love, hate, and are allergic to. With this in mind, it
will be easy to pinpoint the recipes you're targeting and onto the healthy recipes for kids your family
will love.
2) When kids are invested in a project, they are more readily accepting. Find healthy recipes for kids
that your family can contribute to. For example, get your kids involved in the selection of the
recipes, let them help with the shopping, or get the kids help in preparing the meal and setting the
table.
3) Select one new vegetable, fruit, or food to try each week. Make it a game with your kids. They
may love it or hate it, but it will teach them to be open to new foods and experiences at the

3. Anim's Homemade Chicken Curry Dishes
Do you enjoy eating curry, but do not know how to make it? Or rather, you do not know how to
cook, but would like to learn? Whatever the reason is, there is nothing better than taking control of
what you put in your food, and knowing how fresh the ingredients are. By cooking something fresh
and delicious at the comfort of your very own kitchen, it just makes eating that much more
enjoyable.
The ingredients are simple. The flavors are exquisite. The best part is, you save money, and you do
not even have to be a chef to make a dish as simple as this curry dish. Furthermore, I have included
the video on how Anim's Homemade Chicken Curry dish was made below. Please take a moment to
watch the video if you have not seen it yet.
As far as the curry goes, I have always been a fan. Growing up in an Asian household with eight
other siblings, curry was a no–brainer. You can make as much, or as little as you want. The good
thing is, it can all be made in the same pot one step at a time. When you have a family as big as
mine, one pot is not going to feed the entire family. Although, my mom always seems to manage it
somehow. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Earlier in the week, we had Chicken Tikka Masala from an Indian restaurant nearby. It did not taste
that great. More importantly, we paid $15 for a plate that looked as if it was leftover from who
knows when. With that said, we decided to write down the ingredients that was listed on their menu,
and set out to test it out for ourselves to see if we can make it taste better than

5. Le Cordon Bleu By Julia Child Summary
Written by Julia Child, the article "Le Cordon Bleu" opens up a world of cooking to her readers. In
order to fulfill her dreams, Child enrolled in a class at le Cordon Bleu, and from then on, Child
learned the basics of cuisine with classmates and Chef Bugnard. During class, demonstrations were
held by Child's favorite instructors named Pierre Mangelatte and Claude Thilmont, who both
impacted Child as a chef. Meanwhile, Child was growing into a promising cook; but now in the
light of her final examination, she had to prepare very diligently. After obtaining an exam, Child
started her test: except she had forgotten what the assigned dish was! Unfortunately, she promptly
failed to earn her diploma. Buried in shame, Child reflects that it was ... Show more content on

Despite Child's defeat at Le Cordon Bleu, she became one of the most famous cooks in American
history. Clearly, excessive schooling is not needed to become successful in cooking. This revelation
is also seen in Lisa Suhay's article, "What was the recipe for Le Cordon Bleu's US school
closings?", when she states, " [I believe] that formal education is not what [chefs] look for in [their]
culinary staff." (Suhay 1). Although many job recruiters look for experience when looking for jobs,
certain jobs like cooking value more talent than what is in the resume. Consequently, this change in
hiring is fueling the new generation, the millennials. Additionally, many people have become
successful without higher schooling for their profession, for example; Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, and
Ina Garten. Evidently, the talent based success of other celebrities shows that for certain fields,
passion is worth more than the rising price for a diploma. Understanding the need for certain
professions and knowing what they are looking for in an employee has the potential to save the
stress and money for college and help take an individual to their dream job sooner and more
efficiently. Clearly, this belief was not founded nor liked in the early twentieth century. For Child,
although the staggering financial cost of schooling was a problem,

9. The Six Week Holiday Season Of Food Centered Parties And...
The six–week holiday season of food–centered parties and gift giving starts with a bang with
Thanksgiving dinner. The annual meal that comes with the highest set expectations, as relatives and
friends come from far and wide, anticipating a multi–course feast. Mess up a margarita and burn a
few hot dogs on the 4th of July, no problem. But if you manage to wreck Thanksgiving dinner due to
careless oversight or lack of planning, the cook (meaning you) will never hear the end of it. To
escape that fate, it's best to get organized and have a plan for every stage of the cooking process,
from prep work to running last minute errands. Here's some quick tips and advice on how to avoid
common Thanksgiving Day meltdowns.
Step one: Get a headcount. Estimate the number of mouths to feed in advance of the guests arriving.
Anticipate a few no shows and expect a few stragglers to arrive on your doorstep. Doing so, enables
you to calculate how much food to purchase and to cook. Thereby, reducing the amount of food that
might go to waste and a mountain of leftovers.
Step two: Ask about food preferences when offering an invitation to newcomers.
In many households it's not dinner without a turkey, however, not everyone feels the same way.
When feeding large gathering of people, go for a buffet–style spread, clearly label each dish
according to dietary preferences; vegetarian, vegan, gluten–free etc. Stack the plates and cups to one
side of and let the guests self–serve to avoid

11. Smoothie Recipes
Smoothie Recipes
A smoothie is fruit drink, made via a food blender or smoothie maker (a smoothie maker is just a
blender with a tap on the front).
Smoothies benefit us in a different way from juices because smoothies have the entire fruit, not only
the juice. As a result, the smoothie recipe also includes the fruit fiber, which is extremely vital for
developing a fit body. Fibre assists in digestion.
For that smoothie to possess a liquid–like form that could be drinkable (rather than chewable) the
smoothie, need a liquid base. You may utilize any of your preferred fruit juice as the liquid base for
your smoothie recipe. The most favored options for the base are pineapple or apple juice. Dairy

13. What Makes Whole Grains?
Whole grains are nearly perfect foods. They contain the majority of nutrients necessary for human
health: carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins, minerals and fiber. The term "whole–grain dishes"
refers to dishes that are made with all the parts of a grain seed: the pericarp, endosperm, and germ.
Various traditions of using food to heal the body, such as macrobiotics and Ayurveda, stress the
importance of "preserving the life force" of what one eats. What this means is that the closer food is
to its original state, the more energy and nourishment we can derive from it. Grains are the kings of
all food groups; and whole grains are their most complete and potent forms. In the eyes of modern
science, it makes little difference whether grain is bleached, polished, milled or precooked. Viewed
through the beliefs behind "food energetics", however, grain is no more the sum of its parts than a
human being would be if reduced to a pile of organs and flesh. If we want to preserve the life force
of grains – where their real healing and nourishing powers lie – we would do well to use them in
their natural (unprocessed) and complete states. Many grains used for bread, like wheat, rye and
barley, are inherently tough and require some kind of processing before they will be usable. Millet,
oats, quinoa, couscous, buckwheat and rice, on the other hand, can all be considered "dish grains"
because we can cook them in their natural forms. These grains also serve as good, nutritional

15. Personal Narrative-Julia Child
What to cook
It's strange to think that the 2009 drama about Julia child, called "Julia and Julia", was what evoked
my passion for food. Not food exactly, but the plethora of healing properties it may contain. I'm not
referring to your basic scrambled eggs or buttered toast, instead, I became fascinated in aromatic
Thai curries and the restorative properties of cinnamon. I bought my first cookbook in 8th grade,
and prepared myself for the destructive summer ahead. Fried pans and burnt noodles stayed fragrant
in the air for weeks upon their demise. Apple rinds and decayed broccoli florets filled our trash bag
to the brim, trapping its stench only slightly. As any 12–year old, I eventually gave in to the hard–
earned truth that it was highly unlikely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chia, flax, papayas, and prunes were marketed as miracle seeds and fruits, that would solve any
digestive disruption someone could encounter. At first glance, I immediately thought of my
grandmother, and the hordes of prune juice in her ancient kitchen cabinets, which befriended both
spider webs and stale wheat–thins alike. I had no interest in consuming this "miracle" drink, so I
searched more intensively the rest of the night. I gathered plant–based recipes and shopping lists to
haul to the local grocery store, as I embarked on a coffee–induced march, cruising from aisle to aisle
until I located all the necessities. When I arrived home, I commenced upon cooking every dish that I
could conjure up, testing different food combinations that were mild on my ailing stomach. Contrary
to the copious amounts of meat and dairy products I had consumed before, I instead focused on
plant–based and nutrient dense meals. My passion for food had been reinvigorated, only now under
different circumstances. I took inspiration for recipes from my research, as well as my various
travels abroad. Every meal I contrived, was sent packing in a vibrant Tupper–ware container to my

Waiting and Delivery time
Consumers differ in their tolerance for out–of–stock products when they shop. It varies between
consumers but also between different purchase occasions. For a grocery retailer it is a high priority
to avoid out–of–stock on basic products like milk and bread as they are important items for many
consumers. On the other hand; a consumer purchasing a sofa, is often not expecting the product to
be in stock and is willing to wait a long time for delivery.
Product variety
Two dimensions;
a) Variety (breadth) – The different classes of goods making up the product offering.
b) Assortment (depth) – Models offered within each generic product category.
Specialty stores can deal only in a few varieties of goods but with a deep assortment. Variety and
assortment choices are very important strategically for retailers and an issue for top management.
Customer Service Possibilities
The demand for high customer service varies between consumers and type of good they are
purchasing. Customer service is a costly benefit to provide but it can bring substantial benefit.
The positioning strategy for types of marketing channels chosen should always be driven by the
demand for service outputs of the targeted market. To always aim for high service output at all levels
may not always be the best way to go. High service output levels imply higher costs and therefore
higher price to
20. Recipe Of Writing Analysis
The Recipe of Writing
I always thought of writing as cooking for yourself, not something you always look forward to, but
after painstaking minutes of standing over the stove with sweat pouring down your face your final
result is a sink full of dirty pots and pans and a delicious steaming plate of, in my case, pasta. As
Joseph Harris says the final result "tend(s) to conceal much of the labor involved with writing" but
the same goes for cooking everyone sees the beautifully plated result but not the huge pile of dished
in the sink.
Growing up writing was hard, struggling with dyslexia and sever perfectionism did not make it any
easier. Many projects were excused or altered for me, such as writing a letter in cursive to the

quite daunting to say the least. When everything felt hopeless the words were always there to

the pages of paper never let me down. This semester is when I learned that academic writing can be
just as emotional and personal as my journal. Something I try to ask myself every time I write is
something Nancy Sommers says perfectly "How do I embrace these experiences, these texts of my
life" and create something worth writing? I have learned that this question takes my writing to a new
level and makes it interesting. Another thing I have learned is that writing academically doesn't have
to be a list of facts and statements to prove a point but it should include your side of the story as
well. What I have learned is like a cook book there are so many forms of writing, like there are so
many forms of the same dish, but it all has to include your own personal touch, what would a bowl

24. It 's All About The Presentation
It's all About the Presentation The standard way of thinking about copyrights is that it only applies
to books and movies; however, whether it applies to recipes is a topic that many chefs want to bring
to light. Not many people think that copyrights apply to recipes. In the discussion about recipes, the
issue is that the ingredients themselves cannot be copyrighted. The question is how can a person
copyright a recipe. The names of ingredients and the labels can be copyrighted but the substance
themselves cannot be. In recent discussions of copyright, the issue has been chefs copying others
and calling it theirs; however, putting recipes under patents is ineffective because another chef could

In the article "The Plagiarism Problem," Gavin Larson describes copying of other artists dance
moves. Although this has nothing to do with food it brings up the topic of using inspiration or
copying. Larson talks about the use of context and intention to differentiate whether it is inspiration
or just plagiarism. Even though dance is a different type of art it still relates to the struggles of
ownership. In the article "Something Borrowed," Malcolm Gladwell describes his encounter with
two ladies who are battling over intellectual property. The woman claiming theft is pointing out that
her essence and words were stolen. Although this has nothing to do with recipes it does bring up
intellectual property and who is the rightful owner. While researching copyrights throughout Lauren
Markham's "Meringue War" and Gavin Larsen's "The Plagiarism Problems", I observed the struggle
between chefs within recipes and how it is similar to dancers and their performances. Based on my
research of copyrights, I argue that this topic is significant because of the current uses of trademarks
on food, the uses of specific plating as a form of art, and the use of branding the name of a dish such
as the Cronut and needs further investigation on its effect on chef's livelihood. Although copyrights
may seem of concern to only a small group of foodie, it should in fact concern anyone who cares

Network on TV. Recently, I found that there are free cooking videos on ITunes. You can get them by
just subscribing to the podcast they come with.
Before you get started, I have a few tips for you. In the beginning, go for the less complicated. It
should have a small cooking time and not require too many ingredients. Maybe baking something
like cookies would be the best. Something to get your confidence level up. You should never attempt
a intermediate recipe when you are not ready. Because failing sometimes discourages people from
ever trying again, and cooking is a art you can use all your life!
If your a busy person, make sure to take time into account. It may even be best to prepare your
ingredients the day before. When I know I 'm going to be in a rush the next day, I may even prepare
a batch of muffins the night before. That way, when running out of the house the next morning, I can
just grab a muffin and be good to go. Plus, I love the taste! It makes my day

female chefs but mostly male chefs. Such as there wasn't any big or popular chefs out there like it is

However, England is not well known for its cooking; there is no reason to classify this cuisine to one
which contains bad food. The most dishes are easy to prepare and can't be compared by example
with the haute cuisine of France and some other popular cuisines like the Italian and the Chinese
one. French people can spend hours in preparing food and it is also time consuming. The reason that
the English cuisine is not popular can be found in history. The English cuisine has a good reputation
during the 18th and 19th century when English cooking was considered as an art. Families moved
from the land and started to import food. From that time; the English cuisine is subject of many

1. Blend soymilk in your smoothies! Soymilk tastes sweet without containing very much sugar, so
it's a great way to make your smoothies sweet. It's a great base, acting in place of (or in addition to)
yogurt or milk. Soymilk gives smoothies just the right consistency–not too runny, not too thick.
Still, if you are not using yogurt and you prefer smoothies that are on the thicker side, add in
bananas.... You can also use soymilk in milkshakes. If you're weary of regular ice–cream or frozen
yogurt, you can mix it with soy–based "ice–cream" or you can try one of the other dairy–free
varieties, including coconut. 2. Mix soymilk in your coffee, tea lattes, and hot chocolate. If you are a
Starbuck's fanatic, you are probably aware that you can get soy in the place of milk in any of your
cappuccinos and lattes. Most other coffeehouses do the same. Soy coffee drinks taste so sweet that
you do not have to add extra sugar. Starbucks uses a delicious coffeehouse blend that you can
purchase online and use at home. This blend is especially great if you like very frothy cappuccinos
or lattes. A tip for the calorie conscious: order a cappuccino instead of a latte and shed about a third
of the calories. 3. Use soymilk to make your own sauces (Alfredo sauce, Mediterranean béchamel
sauce, meat sauces, salad dressing, and much more).

One of the best gifts my husband ever bought me was a KitchenAid Pro Series 600 stand mixer. He
knew I wanted one but wouldn't spend the nearly $600 on myself. He researched all the brands and
models and settled on one. KitchenAid mixers are excellent to have because of their superior
durability, multiple available attachments, time saving ability, and aesthetic appeal. After two years
of heavy use I can definitely say it was an exceptional purchase. When selecting a mixer my
husband did most of his research online; he read reviews and consumer reports as well as getting
background information on the different companies. KitchenAid has been in business since 1919
and their only product was the stand mixer. For people like my husband and I, we appreciate that
they are still made in the United States of America (Adams, 2009). KitchenAid had the best reviews

cheese straws, to homemade pickles, to salmon patties, to caramel cake. Any time we would make
something that had fruit in the recipe; she knew exactly where to go so that we could pick the fruit

Cooking is a necessity for everyone. Everyone in their life time needs to learn how to cook because
cooking makes food taste better. Without cooking, everyone would eat raw fruits, vegetables etc. I
am still learning how to cook but I consider it my hobby. Cooking is my hobby because I can spend

Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously Summary
Julie Powell, the author of her own memoir, was a distraught secretary working at a bureaucratic
organization led primarily by Republicans in order to build a memorial to the terrorist attack on
September 11th, 2001. To further this misery, she was told that she may be unable to have children
in the future. After hearing this news, she and her husband Eric went to her mother's house in Texas
where Powell found an old copy of Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking which
reminded her of childhood memories of sneaking looks at and moments with books about sex and
cooking she knew she should not read. She was inspired by these memories to cook every recipe in
Julia Child's historic and expansive cookbook, in one year.
The challenge started well with Powell quickly cooking the first few of the 524 recipes in just one
weekend. Powell began to have a new purpose at work instead of being forced to listen to ludicrous
ideas for a national monument, including a football field built on ground zero, and was more and
more excited to go home and continue her self–assigned project.
While The Project began well, Julia Child's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

63. No Stars Behind Bars By David Anthony Faustino Analysis
Hello From the Other Side
Words: 842
In life we often take for granted the food we get to eat on a daily basis. However, for just one night
we had the opportunity to see how prisoners eat, when they are lucky. Our recipe came from the
book Prison Ramen, where we sifted through a variety of other ideas before deciding on the "Wet
Ramen Burrito." Not only did the recipe appeal to us, but the narrative that went with the recipe did
too. In the short narrative written by David Anthony Faustino, titled "No Stars Behind Bars" (58), he
addressed how his celebrity status enabled him to break laws that the common man could not get
away with. However, one drunken night he pushed his luck too far. Faustino could no longer use his
status. The cops did not care and neither did the other inmates in jail with him. Suddenly, he realized
that no matter one's fame there is always a certain threshold where one's status becomes irrelevant.
While the media portrays the famous as invincible, Faustino's narrative proves that all "stars" can
find themselves behind bars, at which point everyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just as for this man behind bars, family was what made his life worth living. Once he lost his family,
he lost his reason to live. The saddest part of this story is that as said in "Escaping Forever," all men
have once looked out at the barbed fences and guard tower thinking of suicide. What makes this
story even sadder is that unlike this man, most prisoners never have visitors from the beginning.
With no family, many prisoners with lengthy sentences lose hope and lack purpose in their lives.
This is why spread and forming a community is so important. As shown in Prison Ramen, prisoners
find solace in sitting around a table and consuming a home cooked meal with others who share the
same life struggles. Spread is not just filling, but also instilling, providing hope and helping create a
family environment for those who need it

67. My Cooking Experience : My Experience In Mexican Food
From a young age I have always been exposed to many types of food. My mom's side of the family
is Mexican, while my dad's is black. Therefore, family events were either filled with soul food or
authentic Mexican food. I was always taught to try new things and food was no exception. Because
of these experiences cooking has always been an interest of mine. My curiosity of cooking started
when I was about 8 years old. I enjoyed watching my nana in the kitchen when she prepared dinner.
I thought her food was delicious and wanted to know how she did it. She made many different types
of food but she was best at Mexican food because to her it was second nature. My favorite dish of
her's was sopa so whenever I went over to her house she would make it for me. When she did I
would sit in the kitchen and watch her and try to take notes on what she was doing. Naturally, it was
the first recipe she ever taught me. To this day I can still remember the feeling of pure joy when my
nana told me she would show me how to make it. That day I had my very first cooking lesson with
many more to come. She explained to me different techniques and terms that are commonly used in
cooking. One of the first techniques she taught me was how to boil noodles correctly. She also
taught me the differences between boil, simmer, and frying. The techniques she taught me that day
have never left my memory. They are a constant reminder of how I acquired my passion. From that
day on I have had a passion for

Rob and I shop at an international store that stocks food not native to North American culture. They
stock a lot of Asian foods but have a supply of Latin and South American foods, too. We decided to
use the opportunity we had and buy a new vegetable. I picked out the yucca and looked for recipes.
Because the yucca is similar to the potato, many of the recipes I came across were alternative
versions of potato recipes, the most common one being fries. I didn't want mashed yucca or fries
though. I wanted something more interesting. Then I came across South American recipes that
actually used the yucca in alternative ways. Sweet balls, bread and empanadas were some of my

I haven't made anything with aquafaba yet. So this recipe was my chance to make something. I also
opted for aquafaba over the flax seeds to keep the bread low fat. With all of my ingredients selected
I got to work. My first task was to peel the yucca. Being a yucca newbie, I did my best to peel the
yucca. I learned the best way to peel a yucca seems to be to peel around the vegetable instead of
lengthwise. I didn't watch the clock, but I estimate the peeling process took around 10 minutes. Next
step: grate. The task wasn't exhaustive, but it was certainly labor–intensive. Unlike potatoes, yuccas
have a grain that runs the length of the vegetable. This appeared to cause the grating to take more
time. I started out grating the yucca with the larger side of my grater, but after thinking about it, I
switched to the smaller side. The original recipe had said to grate it finely. I started out wanting to be
lazy, but I wanted to keep the small amount of the recipe's integrity that was still

80. Like Water For Chocolate By Laura Esquivel
The author of "Like Water for Chocolate", Laura Esquivel, creates a unique take on books by
combining a cook book with a novel. Through the use of delicious recipes to further the story line, it
creates a special way of telling a story that leaves readers both hungry and emotional. Each chapter
has its own recipe, usually a traditional but nonetheless exquisite recipe that reflects the specific
nature of the chapter. Each recipe combines general themes throughout the book such as passion,
