Financing Green Energy
Investment in Green Energy Production
Case Study–Indonesia
Introduction
The term Green energy refers to energy sources which have less injurious impacts on the
environment in comparison with the traditional sources of fuel such petroleum, coal, natural gas etc.
The use of green energy is intended to produce power without causing much harm to the natural
habitat and also in a rather pollution free manner. Indonesia has been taking measures and been
involved in policy reforms meant for facilitating the use of green energy. Various projects have been
initiated in this regard. In the case of Green energy, the typical forces of demand and supply are
activated and this industry is becoming excessively lucrative from investment point of view.
Investment in Green Energy in Indonesia
In order to select a potential project which is worthy of investment, the overall dynamics of green
energy in Indonesia have to be considered. As per the current statistics available.
Indonesia has managed to cross the benchmark of USD 1 Billion in Green energy investment and
has observed 520 percent growth in investment in 2011.
As policy measures, Indonesia has various policies in place such as Energy Law(LawNo.30/2007),
Geothermal Law(LawNo.27/2003), Geothermal Business (GovernmentRegulationNo.59/2007),
Green Energy Policy (MinisterialDecree:No.0002/2004) which would encourage the use of green
energy in Public as well as private sector. The aim is to increase the share of renewable energy

The merger of a Palm handheld computer and a mobile telephone is the first device that combines
cell phone mobility with powerful computing. Thus, merger of mobility and muscle produces
pocket–size prodigy. Hirsch mentioned the Smartphone, by San Diego–based Kyocera, combines a
cell phone and a fully functional Palm in a single pocket device. Compared with a regular Palm, it is
a little thicker, a little taller and seems a fraction of a second slower to respond to the stylus. The
screen is slightly smaller and the device slightly heavier, though the difference is not very

Massola, James (2007, July 12). Apple's iPhone illustrates "feature creep." Eureka Street, 8–9.
Massola state that the arrival of the iPhone is the latest example of the upgrade cycle that drives our
consumer society. It promises the latest in features and technology. It is quite possible there has
never been so much excitement over a phone before. The new features it promises, whether we need
them or not, are the hook used to capture new customers. In a world in which we already have too
much 'stuff', it is questionable whether we are really improving the quality of our life by persisting
with the cycle of upgrades that manufacturers stimulate. The number of 'early adopters' out there are
those people who have to have the latest and greatest and seems to grow exponentially.
Mehta, Stephanie N. (2004, September 6). Cellular evolution. Fortune, 68–73

Strategic benchmarking is done in order to deliver the marked and impressive results so often noted.
Strategic benchmarking is " the process of deciding upon best practices as they relate to the
strategies for reaching organizational goals. The practice includes a study of elements such as core
competencies, process capability and strategic intent and alliances." Camp (1989: 05). Its main
objective is to devise the ideal strategy for improving organizational performance and how to adapt
to ever changing environment with things such as competitors, the industry and the market overall.

Xerox also found out that the Japanese competitors could produce, ship and sell units for about the

Virgin Mobile: Pricing Options
Virgin Mobile must decide on an optimal price offering for its service in the US that is going to be
aimed at the 14–24 year old audience. The company plans to offer handsets for $30 at partner
retailers, which will represent a loss of $30–$70 on the cost of the handset from Kyocera. The idea
is that Virgin must make that money back with its rate plans. Also worth taking into consideration is
that the company plans to make additional money from its consumers through its partnership with
MTV, text messages, Virgin Xtras and other ancillary income. One of the company's fixed costs is
the $60 million advertising budget.
Without real numbers to use, we can only estimate what the first pricing option will look like. The
industry norms right now are $52 for 417 minutes. It is expected that the youth market will average
the same usage as the adult market. They will use the phones both during business hours (while at
school) and in the evenings, so the usage pattern may not differ that much. The contribution to fixed
costs, based on service cost of $30, in $22 per customer. The fixed costs are the $60 million in
advertising, and other unspecified costs. It will be assumed that the advertising is the only
incremental fixed cost to this decision. The breakeven point would be $60 million / $22 = 2,727,273
customers. This would Virgin into the #8 market position, a goal that is not at all unattainable.
Cellular penetration of the US market in the 15–19 age group is only around 16%,

There is no easy solution to solve the problems of undocumented immigration between the United
States and Mexico. The United States has no control on what other countries do and how they treat
their people. If Mexico isn't looking out for their people they will continue to migrate. United States

Electricity Via Natural Sources : Solar And Wind Energy
ELECTRICITY VIA NATURAL SOURCES – SOLAR AND WIND ENERGY
SOLAR ENERGY:
INTRODUCTION –HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT
As we all know that, history of solar energy is as old as the humans. Since last two centuries human
beings started to use it in order to generate electricity. We get electricity form the sun, directly by
some simplest processes or else we can get it without any processes too. 'Many materials produce
small amount of electricity when they are exposed to the light' – this was discovered by Alexandre
Edmond Becquerel in 1839. Photovoltaic (PV) converts sunlight into electricity. Sunlight based
power is apparently the cleanest, most dependable type of renewable energy accessible, and it can
be utilized as a part of a few structures to control your home. Sun powered controlled photovoltaic
(PV) boards change over the sun 's beams into power by energizing electrons in silicon cells
utilizing the photons of light from the sun. This power can then be utilized to supply renewable
energy to our homes. Solar panels are the devices that convert light to electric energy, which are
called "solar" panels. The powerful source of light is available from the Sunlight, which are called
Sol in technical world.
Solar electricity is a reusable form of energy. Solar panels are called as modules which contain
photovoltaic cells, which are made up of silicon that emits incoming sunlight into electricity instead
of heat. According to the recent studies from the World Energy Council,

whether we need directions, need to text a friend, or even buy a ticket to a movie or theme park we
can perform tasks like this in just a matter of minutes. So what is a smartphone? A smartphone is a
phone which includes a state–of–the–art mobile operating system that incorporates the features of a
personal computer operating system with other features useful for mobile or handheld use.
Typically, these features combine the usual use of a cell phone with those of other popular mobile
devices, such as personal digital assistant, media player and GPS navigation unit. Almost all

This mobile phone was the first phone to incorporate PDA (personal digital assistant) features,
which was demonstrated that year at the COMDEX computer industry trade show. In addition to the
PDA features, the phone also included visionary apps such as maps, stocks and news. Soon after the
release of the prototype, a refined version was introduced to consumers, the Simon Personal
Communicator. The Simon Personal Communicator first revealed its face in 1992 and was the first
cellular device that can be properly referred to as a "smartphone" even though it was not called that
when it was initially released. Simon came with a monochrome touchscreen, a stylus, and a
charging base station. It went on sale in 1993 through BellSouth Cellular for an enormous price of
$899 with a two–year agreement or $1,099 without contract. IBM sold approximately 50,000 Simon
units.
Nokia entered the not–yet–developed smartphone space in 1996. It released the Nokia 9000
Communicator to the market, a 1.5–inch thick, 14 ounce phone with an outward facing dial pad,
navigation keys, and monochromatic display. Unlike the Simon Personal Communicator, the 9000
Communicator looked almost like a run–of–the–mill cell phone from 1996. However, along the left
edge, was a hinge which opened to a full QWERTY keyboard and physical navigation buttons
neighboring a much larger display. The Nokia 9000 Communicator, like the Simon, was also not

Climate Change And Environmental Threats
Climate change and environmental threats came more into focus in the last years and presently they
represent a large challenge for the society. This means that environmental considerations have to be
integrated into a number of different decisions made by businesses, individuals, policymakers and
public administrators (Finnveden et al.
2009). Environmental Systems analysis is the field that 'attempts to find supply technology systems
solutions to these challenges' (Chalmers University, 2012)
In the last years, many tools and methods have been developed to evaluate the environmental
impacts of different systems, such as Life Cycle Assessment, Environmental Impact Assessment
(EIA), Environmental Risk Assessment (ERA), Strategic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Environmental effects include the materials and energy resources required to make the product, and
also, the wastes and emissions produced in the process. It is often called as 'cradle to grave' view of
seeing resource consumption (Pehnt 2006). Results of LCAs can be valuable for recognizing areas
with large environmental impact, and for evaluating and improving designs. Therefore, in order to
identify the environmental performances, for example, emissions and energy savings, from different
type of renewable energy, a full evaluation from 'cradle to grave' should be done. LCA is then has
been the method to measure the total impact of resource consumption. LCA is a multistep technique
for calculating the lifetime environmental impact of a product or service.
The International Standard ISO 14040 described the levels of an LCA as follows:
Goal and scope definition
Inventory analysis
Impact assessment
Interpretation of results Figure 7.1 Phases of a LCA study (ISO, 2006)
7.1 Life cycle assessment and micro CHP systems

The Rise and Fall of Iridium
Business Information System II
The Rise and Fall of Iridium
Questions
1. Who was to blame for Iridium 's failure? Why? At what point could you have known Iridium
would fail?
2. What is your evaluation of Iridium 's system design? What impact did the choices that were made
have on subsequent evolution of the venture?
3. What is your evaluation of Iridium 's organizational design? What changes could you have made
to increase the probability of Iridium 's success?
Q1. In the case of Iridium several parties are to blame for the failure. They are:
Dr. Edward Staiano the former CEO of Iridium was responsible for Iridium 's development in a
significant way. When he came from Motorola, the company offered him stock options besides his

This lead to significantly increasing costs (about 5 $ billion ). Because Iridium needed such a great
number of satellites they developed assembly lines that allowed them to produce satellites at one
tenth of the original production costs and made it possible to finish a new satellite every four and a
half days.
Handsets The Iridium phones didn 't need to be as big as they would have been with GEO satellite
but still had an enormous size [5], which made it really hard to market them.Furthermore the long
antenna had to be pointed directly and in an open–sight way at the satellites and according to that
the phones didn 't work in closed buildings, moving cars or undergrounds. These facts didn 't exactly
provide the kind of flexibility that was needed by the potential target group, traveling business
people. The handsets were planned to cost 3000 $ with a 2–8 $ per minute calling fee , this was a lot
more expensive than cellular telephones.
Competing technologies With the rapid and unexpected developement of the cellular network, the
Iridium technology became obsolete in areas covered by terrestrial mobile telephony. Although
Iridium offered a GSM service for roaming into cellular networks, it was still more expensive than
the regular cellular charge, so the target group shrank to people who were in the few regions not
covered

Why buying your own copier is better
It is good to buy your own photocopier as once you get your receipt the sale is closed. You will not
be tied down to contracts with a continuous subscription or that might be hard to end. Your new
copier will be your personal or business asset and you will do anything you want with it. Although,
you might pay a big amount initially, the cost of maintenance and repairs isn't that high. So the
biggest decision to make now is about financing. Where will you get money to buy the best copier
for your business or personal uses? You can get a loan or use your savings. Once you know your
budget range, visit Bizpare® website and search for copier prices in an instant.
Leasing photocopiers
If you can't buy a copier now, your small business can lease one and keep doing its projects. There
are several suppliers who can help your business by offering it a photocopier for lease. Besides the
reduced initial expenditure, compared to buying a copier, a rental agreement offers more flexibility.
When you get a complex project that requires you to use an advanced copier, you can upgrade your
rented copier. As your monthly rental fee is fixed, you can budget for it in advance and avoid
defaulting. There are tax benefits to be had too.
Although leasing is a great pick, when you don't have enough money, it has its cons. You cannot
terminate a contract when you feel like or when you don't require the copier anymore. If you cannot
pay a

Kingfisher Airlines Case Proposal
CONNECTION TO THEORETICAL AND EMIPRICAL RESEARCH
Financial perspective
KFA owes Rs.7000cr to a consortium of 17 banks including the State Bank of India. KFA converted
Rs.750cr out of Rs.7000cr of debts into equity. These shares were allotted to the group of lenders.
High fuel costs which takes up to 40% of the variable expenses and the competition from other low
cost carriers had significantly weakened the company's performance over time.
It was been reported that the Kingfisher Airlines was unable to pay the aircraft lease rental on time

Marketing Strategy Of Virgin Mobile
I. Problem Statement
Virgin Mobile needs not only an effective but profitable pricing strategy that will set the company
apart from the competition. With goals to have 1 million total subscribers by the end of the first year
and 3 million by year 4, Virgin Mobile has some high expectations with a limited budget. As a
company, Virgin Mobile wants to implement a pricing strategy that will attract and retain customers,
especially in a target market that has been underserved in the past.
II. Strategic Situation Facing Management in the Case
The market Virgin Mobile is trying to target is millennials, aging between 15 and 29. As of now, the
U.S. has the lowest penetration in the mobile industry within this age group, with a high growth rate

Current marketing strategies include a strong focus toward the youth market, and where they spend
most of their time. Advertisements will be aired on MTV, and products will be sold in places like
Target and Best Buy. These are all smart tactics to get the product in front of the target market.
Trends in the market include the growing number of people within the 15–29 age range. Also,
phones are being used for much more than just calling, other functions like texting and music
playing capabilities have dominated much of a user's data usage. As for market characteristics, the
mobile industry has reached almost 50% penetration with about 130 million subscribers, and
reaching its maturity. The cost structure has been very confusing for consumers, with hidden fees,
overcharges, and lacks to reward users who do not use their plans to the max. And finally, channels
include all service provider stores and retail consumer stores, for example, Target, Walmart, and
Best Buy.
III. Strategic Alternatives Available to the Firm
There are three options to price the new Virgin Mobile line in the US. The first option involves
setting prices at the same level as the competition. The benefit of this option is the ease of
implementation, but the drawback is the lack of differentiation. Virgin Mobile will not be setting
itself apart from other companies, by

Advantages And Advantages Of Bioenergy And Solar Energy
Nowadays, global warming is causing terrible damages from climate change such as powerful
typhoons, hurricanes, tsunami, super flood to human lives. It has become a big issue since the
changes have happened more frequently. Therefore, many scientists are struggling with finding
some alternative sources of energy to fossil fuel which release a great amount of carbon dioxide that
have affected global warming. Governments also struggle with finding some possible solutions to
deal with climate change. They are encouraging and investing on researching new energy sources.
Bioenergy and solar energy have been highly used as alternative energies. This essay will explore
the advantages and disadvantages of bioenergy and solar energy. How governments encourage
spreading renewable energy in the specific countries will be described.
Bioenergy is a renewable energy which is obtained by combusting the biomass. It is also called
'biomass energy'. Biomass is one of alternative sources, which consists of different materials such as
trees, construction wood, sewage sludge, manure, and farm waste including cornhusks, peanut
shells, leaves and so on (Ischenko et al, 2007). Ischenko et al (2007) claim that biomass releases less
carbon dioxide than fossil fuel. In the other words, it helps to slow down the pace of global
warming. Another advantage of it is turning the great amount of waste such as potato peels, used
cooking oil, pig intestines into useful energy. So it can reduce the costs of

The Five Forces Model of Competition
The competitive pressure in the industry was very fierce. Competition existed between many
countries in 2008. Solar PV growth witnessed an increase of 5.6 gigawatts up to 14.73 gigawatts in
2008. Geographically, total installed capacity was split: 65 % in Europe, 15 % in Japan, 8 % in the
United States. The strongest market was Spain which counted for half of the installations because of
implementing the Renewable Energy Feed–in Tariff which stands for ( REFT or FIT). This program
guaranteed electricity rates for certain renewable projects. In 2008, Spain witnesses a vast rate of
growth in its ability to dominate the PV market. The Spanish government implemented the 500MW
for its installation for the next couple of years. But Spain was expected to witness a drop in its
growth by 2009. The second competitor in the industry was Germany. It covered 26.7 % of PV
installations and it was the first country to introduce the Renewable Energy Feed–in Tariff into the
industry. Moreover, the United States and South Korea, Italy, and Japan were also among the strong
competitors. The United States installations were 6 % , South Korea was 5 %,Italy was 4.9 %, and
Japan was 4 %. The Five Forces Model of Competition: 1. Competitive pressure steaming from
supplier bargaining power: On the supply side of the PV manufacturer there were raw materials
suppliers for goods such as silicon, glass, substrates, metal and cables. Also, there were specialized

I feel that Kyocera would be a great company to work for. I believe that the company practices not
only to the firms business but its employees as well. This is the very least I can say about companies
in America. Everyday you turn on the T.V you hear about mass layoffs and ethics not be pursued
correctly in our country. I think that Kyocera should be a model firm that all businesses should
admire and strive to be after. Just the simple facts that Mr. Inamori would stay late working at his

Do you think Americans would respond differently than Europeans? Why or why not?
Both of the ad campaigns for "We, On Death Row", and earlier controversial campaigns of the
1990's where advertisements that were sometimes disturbing and received a lot of criticisms from
their audiences, but were still very influential. The earlier ads of the company focused more on
world issues, while the "Death Row" ads focused more on the issues that are in the United States
alone, and that's our prison system.
Yes, I think the Europeans and Americans would have a different response because Europeans come
across as more liberal in the fact and matters regarding social issues. Americans sometimes appear
more rigid and easily offended because they care more about the well being and image of our
country.
3. There is a saying in the marketing world that "there is no such thing as bad publicity." Does that
apply in the Benetton case?
Yes, that statement very well applies to the Benetton case. Even though this company is best known
for its controversial campaigns and advertisements, this company has still been a staple and a well

I will never see the day when there is not yet room for improvement. Through time, HP's focus on
innovation had brought the world products such as the handheld calculator and the inkjet printer. In
1992, the company continued to invest heavily in technology, spending $1.6 billion or 10% of

Changing Market Conditions In the early 1990's, while technological innovation continued to drive

Mobile Phones And Its Impact On The World
Introduction:
Decades ago, mobile phones were large, cumbersome, and expensive devices. A mobile phone can
make and receive telephone calls over a radio link while moving around a wide geographic area.
Through this, business men could see the value of being able to communicate while on the move so
they were willing to pay the price and put up with the inconvenience. The first handheld mobile
phone was demonstrated in 1973 by John F. Mitchell and Dr. Martin Cooper, using a handset that
weighed around 4.4 pounds (2 kg). Gradually over the next twenty years, the prices dropped and the
device got smaller and smarter. In fact, it got so popular that the worldwide subscription grew 12.4

The phone weighed around 2.5 pounds, and was incredibly large. It took ten hours to charge, and
only had thirty minutes of talk–time. The first commercial, buyable phone was launched in 1983 and
cost about 4000 dollars. It had thirty minutes of talk–time, a six hour battery life, and could store
thirty numbers.
The first commercial cellular network was launched in 1979 Japan by Nippon Telegraph and
Telephone (NTT). North America's first cellular network was launched by Ameritech around 1980.
In 1981, Nordic Mobile Telephone (NMT) launched its own network for Finland, Norway, Sweden,
and Denmark; many other countries followed in the early to mid–1980s. These networks were called
1G, first generation.
Mid 1980s – 1990 With the introduction of first generation technology came the existence of
Nokia's Mobira Senator. It was very big and bulky, weighing an incredible 22 pounds. It was not a
very mobile phone, but it was a large milestone considering its use of 1G technology. The buyable
version of Motorola's DynaTAC also used 1G technology, specifically North America's first by
Ameritech.
The Mobira Talkman, another Nokia product, was released in 1984. It had longer talk time and was
generally cheaper, and also was more compact and smaller.
In 1989, something incredible happened. Motorola released the MicroTAC, which was the first flip

Solar Phone Screens Advantages And Disadvantages
Introduction
A solar cell is defined as energy of light being converted into electricity – they are most commonly
known for being the driving force behind solar panels. Solar panel phone screens are a recent
addition to possible technologies that promote prolonging battery life and conserving energy in
mobile phones.
Generally, they work by soaking up energy received from the sun's rays and then converting it into
useable electricity. This is a practice in the context of mobile phones is relatively new found and has
not seen widespread commercialization. As with any young technology, there of course comes
disadvantages with its use and function.
However, in this case the benefits seem to outweigh the shortcomings as there is little harm done
towards the environment. Various companies are showed a direct interest in the future of solar
powered screens, larger companies such as Apple (Apple patent hints at potential solar cell
embedded touch screens, p2) have in fact shared job listings in relation to the development of this
technology in their future phones.
What it is?
Solar panel phone screens are simply another way to reduce the toll of high energy consumption
found in phone devices today. It is a pre–existing technology and idea, the same design comes from
traditional solar panels which receive sun light, and large enough to offer considerable electricity to
power an entire household.
Solar panel phone screens can be described as a more portable and compact rendition

Android And Android : The Most Popular Operational Systems...
Android and iOS are the two most popular Operational Systems (OS) for mobiles. Together, they
dominate the Smartphone market all over the world. IOS, Apple 's operating system, is responsible
for the production of the iPhone and iPad, and these companies are operating and dominating the
market for a long time. However, Google's Operation System is used by trustful and famous brands
such as Samsung and Motorola, and has won smartphone users since 2008. Moreover, new users are
unsure of which smartphone system is better to buy: Android or IOS? While these systems bear
some evident similarities, Android and iOS have striking differences which can be crucial for new
mobile users. One aspect that differs Google's Android and Apple's IOS is their respective security
system. Google's system adopted a unique approach in its security system, by allowing developers
to free up applications' creation (apps), and they can distribute the apps in various ways besides the
Google Play Market, such as in internet or another market apps. Google's model of security is based
on a Unique User ID (UID), which offers every apps installed in the mobile its own ID.
Consequently, the Android system allows all apps to share data and resources, and users can view all
the resources that a specific application shares. All these resources can be viewed at the moment of
installation, and if the user thinks that a resource is dangerous, installation can be canceled. For

Heterogeneous Network The operators are using better modulation schemes [1], better coding rate,
multi antenna technique for increased throughput and efficiency. But this alone will not suffice as
the resources are limited and there are near far problems associated with a macro cell. One
alternative to increasing the throughput and quality of service is through cell split. To increase the
capacity of a cell, a large cell is divided into smaller cells with each cell having its own serving base
station and serving an area much less than that of a macro cell. A cell can split into micro, Pico and
Femto cells. A micro cell serves an area of less than 2kms with the base station having a transmit
power range of 5 watts. With further reduction in the transmit power, a cell known as Pico cell can
serve an area of 100 meters or less and is mostly used to provide coverage in buildings. A Femto cell
with transmission power of less than 200 Mw provides the least amount of coverage. Fig. 1 Network
coverage based on cell size Thus while Macro cell can provide a wider coverage, in high density
areas small cells can be used for data offloading, both indoors and outdoors. This architecture shown
in Fig. 1 results in Heterogeneous Network. Thus Het–nets have been introduced in the LTE–
Advanced to provide increased throughput and capacity [5]. But there are some implementation
issues associated with Het– Nets 1.2 Het–Net Implementation

Virgin
Problem Statement
Virgin Mobile is launching its services in USA in the summer of 2002. It has to decide on its pricing
strategy that would attract and retain subscribers.
Situation Analysis
Customer: The target consumer group is youth aged between 15 and 29 years. Penetration in this
segment is significantly lower and the growth rate is projected to be robust in the coming years.
Most of them have a history of poor credit quality, no credit cards and no facility to pass credit
checks. The revenue generated is lower than the average acquisition and the cost of serving of the
industry. Hence this group is largely under served.
This consumer segment has their specific needs that are not being met by the mobile service
providers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alternatives
Some Alternatives for Virgin Mobile are
i. Clone the industry prices: This would copy the same pricing structure as of the competitors. The
competitive difference would be its application like VirginXtras, better customer service, no hidden
cost & relaxed off–peak hours. This would be easy to promote and given the smaller advertising
budget would be more cost beneficial. But people may not like the idea as its nothing different from
the more established players in the market. ii. Price below competition: This would use the similar
pricing structure as the rest of industry with price below the competition. (say, ¢14.99 /minute incl.
all taxes) This would be easier to communicate to customer, as they are already familiar with the
bucket system & volume discount. Again Virgin Mobile will be only differentiated by its cheaper
price, VirginXtras, no hidden cost & better off–peak hours. But in this case also, Virgin Mobile is no
different from the industry and hence has no big competitive advantage.
Recommendation
Virgin Mobile is entering a competitive market, and need to attract new segment of customer. Hence
apart from the basic Cost Based Pricing, Virgin will have to adopt Competition Based Pricing &
Value Based Pricing models. The pricing & features of the Virgin Mobile should be as follows
i. Pricing: Virgin Mobile can charge ¢24.99 /minute inclusive of all taxes. We can understand from

Canadian Solar
Midterm Case Analysis
Problem Statement
1.Situation
Canadian Solar which is a traded solar cell and module manufacturer has experienced recent strong
growth. Despite 2009 fluctuations in the solar industry namely for PV technology, the growth has
been fuelled by Government incentives programs to encourage solar PV technology. The Solar
industry is now highly competitive and companies follow an industrial organizational model. This is
because they all compete mainly in PV technology, and this market is hinged on Government
initiatives and renewable support schemes. Also, the international markets such as Spain (FIT) and
Germany ( EEG law) influenced the companies ' strategy in terms of rates changes, over supply in
2009 among others. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, Canadian solar has been experiences losses in the past three years causing cash
flows problems and increasing allowance for doubtful accounts due to the economic crisis. Also the
company's customers often buy on credit terms thus at any point of time can declare bankrupt or
take a very long time to repay their debts making Canadian solar short on cash. Other risks include a
sudden end in demand, sales price declining, dislocating business model assumption, capital ties and
currency fluctuations.
Finally Canadian solar has the opportunity to make good net profit in August 2009 due to strong
shipment growth and favorable FX trends.
2. Resources
Canadian solar has an innovative management team and has first mover advantage in some areas (
recycling of silicones). They also have various offices around the globe to maximize operations and
achieve low cost manufacturing. With its sales offices controlling specific markets and projects, the
company has an eye on what is happening in different countries. Furthermore they have control on
components since they practise vertical integration.
3. Capabilities and core competencies
Qu's knowledge is a great asset to the company and its vision to achieve successful international
strategies is an important capability in this industry where technological know–how is essential.
Their low–cost manufacturing base is China helps Canadian solar to compete with other big players
of the market like China

Cell Phones Are Ordinary Today
Cell phones are ordinary today. Very nearly everybody has one. My grandma conveys an iPhone and
my dad – a man who once swore he 'd never convey a telephone with him anyplace – slaps a
Samsung Galaxy S III with an OtterBox case on his hip each morning. It wasn 't generally so. I was
the main individual at my secondary school – educators and organization included – with a cell
phone. To start with, I had the Moto Q, then the BlackBerry Pearl 8130, trailed by the Curve 8330.
Furthermore, that is the place my story started, in 2006, taking lesson notes (read: playing Brick
Breaker and Asteroids) on an incredible QWERTY console about a large portion of the palm 's
extent of my hand. Trust it or not, cell phone history backtracks over 10 years before that. Things
were ... intriguing in those days. In the first place, what is a cell phone? Turns out, the real
definition, regardless of the source, is very ambiguous. Merriam–Webster compactly calls a cell
phone "a PDA that incorporates extra programming capacities (as email or an Internet program)."
Oxford Dictionaries, then again, gets somewhat more exact by saying a cell phone "has the capacity
perform a hefty portion of the elements of a PC, commonly having a moderately expansive screen
and a working framework equipped for running universally useful applications." In any case, there
is an almost negligible difference between what is and isn 't a cell phone nowadays, regardless of the
fact that the purported "moronic" or

Financing Green Energy

  • 1. Financing Green Energy Investment in Green Energy Production Case Study–Indonesia Introduction The term Green energy refers to energy sources which have less injurious impacts on the environment in comparison with the traditional sources of fuel such petroleum, coal, natural gas etc. The use of green energy is intended to produce power without causing much harm to the natural habitat and also in a rather pollution free manner. Indonesia has been taking measures and been involved in policy reforms meant for facilitating the use of green energy. Various projects have been initiated in this regard. In the case of Green energy, the typical forces of demand and supply are activated and this industry is becoming excessively lucrative from investment point of view. Investment in Green Energy in Indonesia In order to select a potential project which is worthy of investment, the overall dynamics of green energy in Indonesia have to be considered. As per the current statistics available. Indonesia has managed to cross the benchmark of USD 1 Billion in Green energy investment and has observed 520 percent growth in investment in 2011. As policy measures, Indonesia has various policies in place such as Energy Law(LawNo.30/2007), Geothermal Law(LawNo.27/2003), Geothermal Business (GovernmentRegulationNo.59/2007), Green Energy Policy (MinisterialDecree:No.0002/2004) which would encourage the use of green energy in Public as well as private sector. The merger of a Palm handheld computer and a mobile telephone is the first device that combines cell phone mobility with powerful computing. Thus, merger of mobility and muscle produces pocket–size prodigy. Hirsch mentioned the Smartphone, by San Diego–based Kyocera, combines a cell phone and a fully functional Palm in a single pocket device. Compared with a regular Palm, it is a little thicker, a little taller and seems a fraction of a second slower to respond to the stylus. The screen is slightly smaller and the device slightly heavier, though the difference is not very noticeable. But the negatives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apple's iPhone illustrates "feature creep." Eureka Street, 8–9. Massola state that the arrival of the iPhone is the latest example of the upgrade cycle that drives our consumer society. It promises the latest in features and technology. It is quite possible there has never been so much excitement over a phone before. The new features it promises, whether we need them or not, are the hook used to capture new customers. In a world in which we already have too much 'stuff', it is questionable whether we are really improving the quality of our life by persisting with the cycle of upgrades that manufacturers stimulate. The number of 'early adopters' out there are those people who have to have the latest and greatest and seems to grow exponentially. Mehta, Stephanie N. (2004, September 6). Cellular evolution. • 8. Virgin Mobile: Pricing Options Virgin Mobile must decide on an optimal price offering for its service in the US that is going to be aimed at the 14–24 year old audience. The company plans to offer handsets for $30 at partner retailers, which will represent a loss of $30–$70 on the cost of the handset from Kyocera. The idea is that Virgin must make that money back with its rate plans. Also worth taking into consideration is that the company plans to make additional money from its consumers through its partnership with MTV, text messages, Virgin Xtras and other ancillary income. One of the company's fixed costs is the $60 million advertising budget. Without real numbers to use, we can only estimate what the first pricing option will look like. The industry norms right now are $52 for 417 minutes. It is expected that the youth market will average the same usage as the adult market. They will use the phones both during business hours (while at school) and in the evenings, so the usage pattern may not differ that much. The contribution to fixed costs, based on service cost of $30, in $22 per customer. The fixed costs are the $60 million in advertising, and other unspecified costs. It will be assumed that the advertising is the only incremental fixed cost to this decision. The breakeven point would be $60 million / $22 = 2,727,273 customers. This would Virgin into the #8 market position, a goal that is not at all unattainable. Cellular penetration of the US market in the 15–19 age group is only around 16%, ... Electricity Via Natural Sources : Solar And Wind Energy ELECTRICITY VIA NATURAL SOURCES – SOLAR AND WIND ENERGY SOLAR ENERGY: INTRODUCTION –HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT As we all know that, history of solar energy is as old as the humans. Since last two centuries human beings started to use it in order to generate electricity. We get electricity form the sun, directly by some simplest processes or else we can get it without any processes too. 'Many materials produce small amount of electricity when they are exposed to the light' – this was discovered by Alexandre Edmond Becquerel in 1839. Photovoltaic (PV) converts sunlight into electricity. Sunlight based power is apparently the cleanest, most dependable type of renewable energy accessible, and it can be utilized as a part of a few structures to control your home. Sun powered controlled photovoltaic (PV) boards change over the sun 's beams into power by energizing electrons in silicon cells utilizing the photons of light from the sun. This power can then be utilized to supply renewable energy to our homes. Solar panels are the devices that convert light to electric energy, which are called "solar" panels. The powerful source of light is available from the Sunlight, which are called Sol in technical world. Solar electricity is a reusable form of energy. Solar panels are called as modules which contain photovoltaic cells, which are made up of silicon that emits incoming sunlight into electricity instead of heat. Soon after the release of the prototype, a refined version was introduced to consumers, the Simon Personal Communicator. The Simon Personal Communicator first revealed its face in 1992 and was the first cellular device that can be properly referred to as a "smartphone" even though it was not called that when it was initially released. Simon came with a monochrome touchscreen, a stylus, and a charging base station. It went on sale in 1993 through BellSouth Cellular for an enormous price of $899 with a two–year agreement or $1,099 without contract. IBM sold approximately 50,000 Simon units. Nokia entered the not–yet–developed smartphone space in 1996. It released the Nokia 9000 Communicator to the market, a 1.5–inch thick, 14 ounce phone with an outward facing dial pad, navigation keys, and monochromatic display. Advertisements will be aired on MTV, and products will be sold in places like Target and Best Buy. These are all smart tactics to get the product in front of the target market. Trends in the market include the growing number of people within the 15–29 age range. Also, phones are being used for much more than just calling, other functions like texting and music playing capabilities have dominated much of a user's data usage. As for market characteristics, the mobile industry has reached almost 50% penetration with about 130 million subscribers, and reaching its maturity. The cost structure has been very confusing for consumers, with hidden fees, overcharges, and lacks to reward users who do not use their plans to the max. And finally, channels include all service provider stores and retail consumer stores, for example, Target, Walmart, and Best Buy. III. Strategic Alternatives Available to the Firm There are three options to price the new Virgin Mobile line in the US. The first option involves setting prices at the same level as the competition. Advantages And Advantages Of Bioenergy And Solar Energy Nowadays, global warming is causing terrible damages from climate change such as powerful typhoons, hurricanes, tsunami, super flood to human lives. It has become a big issue since the changes have happened more frequently. Therefore, many scientists are struggling with finding some alternative sources of energy to fossil fuel which release a great amount of carbon dioxide that have affected global warming. Governments also struggle with finding some possible solutions to deal with climate change. They are encouraging and investing on researching new energy sources. Bioenergy and solar energy have been highly used as alternative energies. This essay will explore the advantages and disadvantages of bioenergy and solar energy. How governments encourage spreading renewable energy in the specific countries will be described. Bioenergy is a renewable energy which is obtained by combusting the biomass. It is also called 'biomass energy'. Biomass is one of alternative sources, which consists of different materials such as trees, construction wood, sewage sludge, manure, and farm waste including cornhusks, peanut shells, leaves and so on (Ischenko et al, 2007). Ischenko et al (2007) claim that biomass releases less carbon dioxide than fossil fuel. In the other words, it helps to slow down the pace of global warming. Another advantage of it is turning the great amount of waste such as potato peels, used cooking oil, pig intestines into useful energy. So it can reduce the costs of ... Solar PV growth witnessed an increase of 5.6 gigawatts up to 14.73 gigawatts in 2008. Geographically, total installed capacity was split: 65 % in Europe, 15 % in Japan, 8 % in the United States. The strongest market was Spain which counted for half of the installations because of implementing the Renewable Energy Feed–in Tariff which stands for ( REFT or FIT). This program guaranteed electricity rates for certain renewable projects. In 2008, Spain witnesses a vast rate of growth in its ability to dominate the PV market. The Spanish government implemented the 500MW for its installation for the next couple of years. But Spain was expected to witness a drop in its growth by 2009. The second competitor in the industry was Germany. It covered 26.7 % of PV installations and it was the first country to introduce the Renewable Energy Feed–in Tariff into the industry. Moreover, the United States and South Korea, Italy, and Japan were also among the strong competitors. The United States installations were 6 % , South Korea was 5 %,Italy was 4.9 %, and Japan was 4 %. The Five Forces Model of Competition: 1. • 37. Network Coverage Based On Cell Size Essay Heterogeneous Network The operators are using better modulation schemes [1], better coding rate, multi antenna technique for increased throughput and efficiency. But this alone will not suffice as the resources are limited and there are near far problems associated with a macro cell. One alternative to increasing the throughput and quality of service is through cell split. To increase the capacity of a cell, a large cell is divided into smaller cells with each cell having its own serving base station and serving an area much less than that of a macro cell. A cell can split into micro, Pico and Femto cells. A micro cell serves an area of less than 2kms with the base station having a transmit power range of 5 watts. With further reduction in the transmit power, a cell known as Pico cell can serve an area of 100 meters or less and is mostly used to provide coverage in buildings. A Femto cell with transmission power of less than 200 Mw provides the least amount of coverage. Fig. 1 Network coverage based on cell size Thus while Macro cell can provide a wider coverage, in high density areas small cells can be used for data offloading, both indoors and outdoors. Turns out, the real definition, regardless of the source, is very ambiguous. Merriam–Webster compactly calls a cell phone "a PDA that incorporates extra programming capacities (as email or an Internet program)." Oxford Dictionaries, then again, gets somewhat more exact by saying a cell phone "has the capacity perform a hefty portion of the elements of a PC, commonly having a moderately expansive screen and a working framework equipped for running universally useful applications."
