  2. 2. WHAT IS ACCESS?  Database Management System  Stores and tracks information  Inventory  Customer Data  Sales A database is an organized collection of information about a subject.
  3. 3. T YPES OF OBJECTS Tables are a collection of records that share the same field. Information is stored in rows and columns.
  4. 4. T YPES OF OBJECTS Queries are ‘questions’ that provide sorted, filtered, or summarized data.
  5. 5. T YPES OF OBJECTS Forms are an interface for data entry and lookup.
  6. 6. T YPES OF OBJECTS Reports are printable views of tables and query data.
  7. 7. RELATIONAL DATABASE Database that has multiple tables with relationships that connect them. Table Primary Key Field
  8. 8. FIELDS A piece of data that helps describe the record All of these fields make up one record. In this case – all the details about one employee
  9. 9. PRIMARY KEY A unique field that identifies records in a table At THS, your ‘primary key’ is your Student ID Number
  10. 10. RECORD A collection of information (fields) about something specific Records are the data for your business.
  11. 11. TABLE DESIGN VIEW The view that lets you add, edit, and delete fields from a table. You will be creating your tables in Design View!
