Essay On The Holocaust In Relation To The State Of Israel
The Holocaust in Relation to The State of Israel The State of Israel and the Holocaust are two events that turned the tide from Anti–Semitism to most of
the world tolerating and accepting Jews. The Holocaust had created waves of horror that emanated out from Europe and echoed throughout the world
about human suffering and mistreatment. The reaction to the Holocaust resulted in the founding of Israel. To understand the Holocaust, one must first
understand Israel and its founding because Israel was given to the Jews after the Holocaust and affects the way they protect themselves, the Jewish
now have a way to defend themselves, and the Holocaust has influenced their views and interactions with the rest of the world. Israel was given to the
Jews to compensate for the injustice waged on their culture. Israel is the mechanism in which the Jewish people can defend themselves against future
attacks like the Holocaust. They protect it with vigour and use the Holocaust as an excuse for their overprotectiveness. Israel helps the Jews defend
themselves and have a place where their voice is heard. Here is Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu's perception of this phenomenon." The founding of
Israel did not stop the attacks against the Jews. It merely gave the Jews the power to defend themselves against those attacks" (Source A). This quote
explains that the founding of Israel gave the Jews the power to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dbq Essay: Should Israel Receive Israel Back?
Ignorance is what the Palestinians have. They don't understand that Israel does not belong to them. They acted violently towards the Israelis, abused
them, and began a war in order to take over their homeland. Therefore, I feel sympathy for the Israelis and believe they should have Israel back. They
should have it back because one, the birthplace of most Jewish people was in Israel, two, the Jews converted the land to re–establish themselves and
create a country, and three, in 1897 Theodore Herzl, the first Zionist Congress, gave the Jewish people the right to a national rebirth in its country.
Therefore, Israel should be given back to the Jews. To begin with, most of the Jewish people were born in Israel. There, they formed their spiritual,
political, and religious identities. In document 1 it is stated, "Here they first attained to statehood, created cultural values of national and universal
significance, and gave to the world the eternal books of books." That should come to the obvious point that Palestine can't take over what is someone ...

They used what they had to their advantage and worked hard to re–establish themselves in their ancient homeland. They strove to make a successful
country, as document 1 states, "They built towns and created a thriving community controlling its own economy and culture," they brought progress to
all the country's people, and they sprouted an independent nation. The Palestinians have to accept the matter of fact that whomever comes first is the
one to be served and not the second, so they must leave, for they are not served in Israel. Moreover, In 1897 Theodore Herzl, the first Zionist
Congress, gave the Jewish people the right to a national rebirth in their country. In document 1 it is stated, "...the right of the Jewish people to rebuild
its National home." For that reason, the Jewish people must have Israel back, and the Palestinians must give it

Holocaust Research Paper: Rough Draft The Entirety of the Jewish people was affected by the Holocaust during World War II. The study of the
Holocaust directly ties in with the study of the state of Israel because Israel has the right to be able to defend themselves against anything similar to the
Holocaust from ever happening again, Jews are committing crimes against other nations in order to protect themselves, and the Jews were forced to
move from most European countries to the state of Israel. The state of Israel and its people are being attacked, and they need to be able to fight back.

Other countries around Israel are threatening the Jewish state, and because of the Jewish people 's history, they need to be able to stop anything
terrible from happening again. "In recent decades the hatred of the Jews has reemerged with increasing force, but with an insidious twist. It is not
merely directed at the Jewish people but increasingly at the Jewish state...if only Israel did not exist, many of the world's problems would go
away." (Source A). Jews throughout history have received hatred from many different countries for different reasons. Therefore the people need
support from other countries to be able to protect themselves. "A radical Iranian regime armed with nuclear weapons could bring an end to the era
of nuclear peace the world has enjoyed for the last 65 years...Iran's brazen bid to develop nuclear weapons is first and foremost a threat to Israel..."
(Source A). Israel may be an entire country, but the history of the Jewish people states that they are weak, meaning it is an easy target for a country
to destroy. Israel may have been at peace with Iran before, but now that Iran has the tools for war, they are willing to just throw the relationship away,
because Iran knows it can happen again. Because of all of the threats against the Jewish people, tensions and the amount of fear are growing. The state
of Israel is becoming so paranoid that the Jewish people are

Israel And The Holocaust
The history of the State of Israel and the Holocaust strongly correlate with each other. For one to understand the State of Israel, one must look at in it
relation to the Holocaust because Israel uses defence techniques that it would not feel necessary if not for the Holocaust, the Holocaust has changed the
Jewish faith, and the Holocaust has caused issues with the overall view of the Jews. Israel has used tactics to defend itself, and to get the international
"right to exist". Israel has used security tactics to feel safe, but these tactics are endangering the civil and human rights of the citizens of Israel. "...No

Ethiopian And Soviet Immigration And Their Impacts On...
Ethiopian and Soviet Immigration and Their Impacts on Israeli Society
Israel is a state complete with a multitude of ethnicities. As Jews began to immigrate to the newly formed state, they brought with them distinctive
cultural values and traditions that shifted Israel from a more homogenized community into a definite "melting pot". Significant waves of Jews came
from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and even North America. The impact each of these groups had on Israeli society differed from group to
group. Two of the most recent waves of immigrants to Israel came from Ethiopia and the former Soviet Union. Both groups changed the dynamic of
Israeli society in ways previous groups had not.
In Israel today there are 125,500 Ethiopian Jews. This constitutes 1.75% of the total population and makes Israel home to the largest Ethiopian Jewish
community. This group lived predominantly in the North and Northwestern parts of Ethiopia and can trace its origins back to biblical times, when
many Jews migrated to Ethiopia following the exile of Jews in Egypt. According to tradition, in the 4th century CE this group was pressured to convert
to Christianity and refused. They became known by the term "Beta Israel", meaning "house of Israel".
In modern times, they have lived among Christian and Muslim communities in Ethiopia. In the 20th century, Beta Israel renewed contracts with other
Jewish communities. Because of the instability and violence that

The Arab/Israeli Conflict
The Arab Israeli conflict.
The Arab/Israeli conflict is a conflict between the Arabs and the Jews over a small piece of land known as the holy land which is an area in the
Middle East of the Arab world. The Arabs call the land Palestine, the Jews call it Israel but both religions have strong religious links with the land.
There is conflict between the two religions because they both believe that the land belongs to them. it all started back in 135 AD when the Jews were
expelled from they're homeland in Palestine causing them too spread out across Europe creating the Diaspora. Although the jews had been forced to

Many Arabs opposed British troops because of England's failure to fulfill its promise and were also getting angry about the increase of jewish
migrating to palestine. Arabs became concerned that Jewish immigration would threaten their position in Palestine which lead to large scale attacks on
the jews. At the time of Hitler's dictatorship in Germany, Jewish immigration increased dramatically in 1933. An Arab revolt started which Britain
suppressed with the help of Zionist militias. Zionist settlements climaxed in 1936. In 1947, Britain forbid Jewish refugees from nazi concentration
camps to land in Palestine to prevent war between Jews and Arabs, which resulted in worldwide criticism of Britain. Britain withdrew itself from the
situation handing over the mandate over Palestine, leaving the United Nations to deal with the situation. The United Nations proposed that Palestine
was divided into two states, one for the Arabs and one for the Jews, however the Arabs opposed this idea claiming that the UN plan allotted too much
territory to the Jews. the arabs thought it was unfair that the jews should get more land because the arabs were by far the larger population but
because of the holocaust the was a lot of sympathy for the jews and this may be why the got more land.

The Spread Of Anti-Semitism In Europe
This article discusses Anti–Semitism in Europe and comments on the labeling Jews as a race. Over recent year Anti–Semitism has grown larger and
larger in Europe. In Paris, France and Copenhagen, Denmark there has been multiple accounts of Jews being murdered and their synagogues being
firebombed by mobs. This has been cause Jews to flee European countries in fear of being attacked. Despite all of that, after a new poll was taken on
Anti–Semitic attitudes in over one hundred countries, they have found that Anti–Semitic attitudes have taken a significant decreased in certain
European countries. They believe that this is because of certain world leaders have taken it upon them to try and solve this problem. Leaders Such as

It has been around for as long as the Jews have been around. Incase you didn't know that is over two thousand years. The first thing we have to
look at is why do we find Jews in so many places in the world, but if were going to do that we have to go way back to the beginning. Jews started
out in an area of land called Mesopotamia, which is modern day Iraq. They were freed by Cyrus the Great and went to the province of Judah,
which is modern day Israel. Now during these times Judah was a part of the Roman Empire. Then something called the Jewish Diaspora happened
and Jews were forced to leave the place the called home of Judah. The Jews then spread to parts of Northern Africa, Most every part of Europe, and
some parts of Asia. There were many accounts of Anti–Semitism during these times. An example of this could be what happened I Spain. Spain went
through what was called the Spanish inquisition, where Spaniards would force Jews to either leave or convert. Jews would often refuse to do either of
them and stay and be murdered. Another example would be in the Russian Empire. In the Russian Empire there were these Anti–Semitic programs
called Pogroms. Pogroms are a violent riot of Russian soldiers aimed to massacre and persecute Jews. There were four major pogroms that took place

"ETHIOPIAN JEWS"
Throughout the bible, the people of Ethiopia had intermingled and intermarried with the descendants of Shem even before Abraham was born.
Abraham and his descendants have racially intermixed and intermarried with the Ethiopians from the beginning of the Hebrew–Jewish origins, as many
Ethiopians were known to be Hebrew–Jewish descent. Moses and his family were Hebrews having Ethiopian origins. There are many Jewish
communities in Ethiopia today, and one of these groups are the "Falashas or Beta Israel" meaning the House of Israel". The Falasha are believed to
descent from Menelik 1, who was known to be the son of Solomon and Queen of Sheba. The large number of the orthodox Jews believed that the
Falasha were the descendants of the tribe of Dan, and they were among the ten lost tribes of Israel that was taken to exile by the Assyrians in 722 BC.

The Jews of Ethiopian population seems to be a mixed population of Jewish origin. Follow up research conducted by Mike Hammer and his group of

The Ethiopians have always had close contacts with the children of Israel from ancient time. According to (Judges 1:16, Numbers 12:1), the Ethiopian
descendants of Moses father in law were given inheritance with the tribe of Judah and they lived and dwell together as one people and one

Essay on The Recognition of Israel: World War II
Recognition of Israel
World War II left Europe in ruins and devastated those who lived there, but nobody was more affected than the Jews. When the war ended, the U.S. and
other countries revealed to the world the amount of torture and mistreatment the Jews suffered under Nazi control. Many wanted to help these suffering
outcasts, so Jewish Zionists suggested the Jews be relocated to Palestine, where they could live in peace away from others(Devine, 1). Britain and
President Truman felt sympathetic for the Jews, and decided to help them establish a new Jewish homeland in the Middle East. During the formation of
Israel, the U.S. played a big role by establishing a committee, supporting U.N. and Jewish intentions, and recognizing Israel as a ... Show more content

He felt compunctious for the Jews, since the United States had denied many desperate Jews citizenship to escape Nazi brutality(Citation, 1). In his
efforts to help the Jews, he often got advice from Jewish advisors on the issue. Important Zionists of the time period such as David Niles, a
member of the Jewish Agency, and Max Lowenthal influenced Truman's decisions, making him push through plans to give the Jews back the
Promise Land. When Israel became a country, he thanked both, referring to Max as a "benefactor to State of Israel" and wrote to David "You have
been such a tower of strength for me during the past six years, and I can't tell you how very much I appreciate it"(Devine, 1). Truman's power as
president and support for plans would be crucial to the Jews regaining the Promise Land.
Another big supporter of the Jews was Great Britain. In the early 1920's, the hatred of Jews was horrific, so the League of Nations decided to
intervene and help. In response to the issue, the League put Great Britain in charge of the Mandate for Palestine, which "was called upon to facilitate
the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine–Eretz Israel, or the Land of Israel"(Citation, 1). Great Britain felt sympathetic for the Jews like
the United States, and also supported the idea of giving the Jews back the promise land in return for years of mistreatment. Nonetheless, Arabian
citizens of the area complained about the Jewish immigration, and riots

Anti-Semitism Argument Against Israel
A recent letter to the editor titled "speaking out against Israel cannot be conflated with 'anti–Semitism'" showed a lack of knowledge surrounding the
movement of Zionism, as well as a misunderstanding of modern anti–Semitism. The author argues a few distinct points, being that supporting Zionism
is a way of Jews to suppress the voice from people of color, that Jewish teachings and morality do not support Zionism, and that Israel's treatment of the
Palestinians is in the same lines and philosophy of white supremacists and Nazis. To begin deconstructing these points we start by considering if
Zionism is, in fact, a ploy for white Jews to suppress the voices of people with color; as the author claimed. To be clear there are more non–Jewish
Zionist in the world than Jewish ones. The movement of Zionism derives support from many groups other than white Jews. To argue it's a strategy by
Jews to suppress the voice of others ignores the massive quantity of non–Jews who are Zionists and will publicly support Israel. Supporting Zionism

This is the argument that the human rights violations or Palestinian suppression, that Israel supposedly commits is equitable to apartheid or genocide
committed by the Nazis. As well as arguing that because of the experience Jews have with prejudice against us, it should be the reason we support the
Palestinians and call for Israel's demise. This comparison to Nazism is one of the most prevalent forms of modern anti–Semitism. Natan Sharansky
developed the criteria to where a critique of Israel becomes anti–Semitic, being which the double standard, delegitimization, and demonization of Israel.
The Israeli comparison to Nazis is the premier example of demonization, and both undermine the struggle so many Holocaust survivors went through to

What Are Health Challenges Faced By Ethiopian Jews?
Far off in the Gondar Regions of Ethiopia, a group of Jews lived for thousands of years in relative isolation. They called themselves "Beta Israel" or
"House of Israel" but their neighbors called them "Falasha" or "stranger". They practiced a pure form of Talmudic Judaism that was based solely on
the most sacred texts and they adhered to extremely strict religious law. The Jews ruled much of Ethiopia for many years until new leadership came
to be, and they faced deadly persecution. European Jews eventually recognized the plight and challenges of the Ethiopian Jews and the case to try to
bring the Ethiopian Jews to Israel was strong. Today, upwards of 60,000 Ethiopian Jews live in Israel and yet they continue to face challenges that

According to Jews in Israel the biggest long–term problem that their country is facing is that they were more likely to cite economic concerns (such
as Israel's high cost of living, or a shortage of affordable housing in Tel Aviv and other cities) as they were to mention military or national security
issues (such as terror attacks or Iran's nuclear program). This belief that Israel's biggest problem is the economy is a belief between Jews in Israel,
however American Jews have a completely different perspective into Israel's long term problem. When American Jews were asked what the long term
problem, fully two–thirds cited a military or security issue, and hardly any (1%) mentioned economic difficulties. What this shows is a separation in
how American Jews and Israeli Jews view the government, or American Jews do not know the struggle that the Jews are facing in Israel. Another
problem that American and Israel Jews disagree on is the range of political issues concerning the State of Israel and the peace process. While Israeli
Jews are skeptical that Israel and an independent Palestinian state can peacefully coexist, most American Jews are optimistic that a two–state solution is
possible. These two different perspectives is something that is eroding and segregating the Jewish people, it is two different societies that each one

The Creation Of Israel By John F. Kennedy

The Creation of Israel "Israel was not created in order to disappear–Israel will endure and flourish. It is the child of hope and the home of the brave. It
can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by success. It carries the shield of democracy and it honors the sword of freedom." These are John
F. Kennedy's thoughts and opinions upon the creation of Israel. In the time leading up to the creation of Israel, the Jews had endured much suffering
through the terrible acts of the Holocaust. Jews have proven to rise from the despair and the suffering that they had to endure and they ultimately
created something stupendous: their own country. There have been many obstacles in the way for the Jews to do this, the biggest being the Arab
Palestinians. The Arab Palestinians objected to the Arab Jews forming a nation and if it were not for the help of the United States, Israel would have
never been able to overrule the power of the Arab Palestinians and take over the land for themselves. With tremendous support from the United States,
the creation of Israel exemplifies the joyous and magnificent accomplishment that not only Arab Jews accomplished, but all Jews. In the time leading
up to the creation of Israel, the Jews were motivated to establish their own country in the territory of Palestine with the support of other countries
around the world. There were many contributions that lead to the creation of

The Israel And Palestine Conflict And The...
For thousands of years, Israel and Palestine have fought over the land. Many wars have taken place and several peace treaties have failed. At the root
of the Israeli–Palestinian rivalry is a debate over boundaries and territories. Israel should have sheer control of this land because they arrived here first.
Israel should own the land, including Jerusalem, because they occupied the region first. In the beginning, God chose Abraham to protect the Hebrew
people. Abraham made an agreement with God. This agreement was that God would protect Abraham and his descents if they would obey God.
This is called a covenant. After being forced into slavery, the Hebrews fled Egypt between thirteen hundred and twelve hundred B.C. and the Jews
call this the Exodus. The man who led them out of Egypt was Moses. When they came to Canaan, they formed twelve different tribes. When the
Romans conquered the land, Israel had no homeland, even though Jews were granted to reside there. They were forced from their homeland in two
different dispersions. One happened in 70 A.D. and the other in 135 A.D. They were forced out by Palestinians in 135 A.D. After being forced out,
the Jews spread out in different countries and this was known as the Diaspora. However, there was always a Jewish presence in the land. During the
late 19th century and early 20th century, a group of Jews returned to this region. This region consists of Israel, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip.

This proves that Israel is a valid place for a Jewish state because God has promised Israel to Abraham and his descendants. Reason Wrap–Up In short,
one of the reasons Israel was created as a Jewish state in 1948 is that in their scriptures say that they have been promised Israel by God.
International support There are two great reasons Zionism or International Support back up the creation of Israel that I will explain to you, but I'm
sure there are plenty more. First evidence "The people kept faith with [Israel] throughout their Dispersion (Diaspora) and never ceased to hope and
pray for their return to it," as said in Document B. This shows that Israelis have always wanted to return and have kept the dream alive and have
historical ties to Israel. Second evidence Also, quoted from Document B is the evidence, "The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution
calling for the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz–Israel." Eretz–Israel, by the way, is just Israel by a different name. Moving on, this proves that
Israel should have been created as a Jewish state in 1948

then have carried over to the present to affect the State of Israel. The studies of the State of Israel and the Holocaust directly tie together because the
history of the Jewish people connects with their current conflicts, they are sorely misunderstood by the world, and because of the Holocaust, Israel has

the safety for Jews in Israel. The IDF has served in each of the country's major wars. Founding of the military happened after the establishment of

Jewish Living In Egypt In 1490's
Cairo was a new unexplored land for the Jews. No one knew the possibilities that could happen for the Jews while they lived in Cairo; the sky was
the limit. Jews first came as immigrants to Cairo in the 1490's (The Jewish Community of Cairo). Cairo took them in and gave them a home when no
one else would. Jews then began a life in Cairo and thrived there. Their jobs were good, houses were clean and most importantly, families were happy.
The Jews lived for many happy years in Cairo until Israel became a State. The Jews were then forced to leave their homes that they grew so
accustomed too and travelled to their true home, Israel. Life in Cairo proved at time to be difficult for the Jews but also gave them many benefits.

Many new immigrants came to Cairo and wanted to start over and make a better life for them and their families. Jews started to like Cairo and
began to acculturate by adopting Egyptian culture but also keeping their own cultures in the process. The Jewish community increased because
many people heard that Jews in Cairo had a great life and best of all, were living in peace. There were approximately 25,000 Jews living in Cairo in
1898 (The Jewish Community of Cairo). Jews were interested in giving their children a Jewish education so Jewish schools were built for their
children in order to get a religious education. While the Jews were living in Cairo, the economy thrived. The Jews had to pay a reasonable amount of
taxes and had well–paying Jobs. Most Jews were writers, film directors, business figures, political activists, traders, and bankers (Virtual Jewish
World: Cairo, Egypt), (Malsin). Many Jews who immigrated to Cairo were traders or merchants. Some worked in the industry until they could run
their own businesses or move on to better jobs like being writers, film directors, business figures, political activists or bankers. Since the Jewish
community was growing, it split up into two main parts; the north and south, although this didn't last for long because the Jews needed to be together.
There were many synagogues for the Jews to go to on Shabbat. Some amazing and well known synagogues in Cairo are: Char, Ben Ezra,

Arab-israeli Conflict Essay examples
On November 29, 1947, the United Nations voted to divide the Middle Eastern land called Palestine into two independent nations, one Arab and one
Jewish. On May 14, 1948, a new nation was born: Israel. The Jews of Israel and the world celebrated with joy and gladness, because for over two
thousand years, they had hoped to return to the land of their heritage. (Silverman, 1) However with Jews from all around the world returning to Israel,
the Arabs residing in this land were forced into exile. The rebirth of Israel marked the beginning of conflict, violence, and peace treaties between the
Arabs and the Jews of the Middle East.
Tensions between Jews and Arabs have been present since biblical times in the Middle East. In 132 AD, when Israel... Show more content on

They attacked Jewish farm settlements, villages and cities. The British troops occupying Palestine did not intervene between the Arabs and the Jews.
Instead the British supported the Arabs against the Jews, and the Jews against the Arabs. (Silverman, 61–67) As more Jews arrived, the economy grew
and attracted Arabs to immigrate to Palestine. However, while the Jews were returning to their homeland, Arab nationalism was growing. Palestine's
Arabs rejected the Balfour Declaration, even though they themselves had little interest in a state of their own at the time. Before long, the Arabs
opposed the establishment of any Jewish State in the Middle East. (Goldschmidt, 158)
After 1945 and the Holocaust, which left 6 million Jewish men, women and children dead, the cause for a Jewish homeland, where Jews could be
free of persecution gained momentum. In 1947, the United Nations voted to divide the Middle East between Jews and Arabs. The Jews agreed to this
plan, while the Arabs rejected it. The Arabs would not recognize a Jewish State. Jordan and Syria also wanted Palestine to belong to them, and the
Arabs of Palestine didn't see themselves as Palestinian, but instead as Arabs and wanted to be part of another Arab country. (Hiro, 65)
The basic cause for conflict between the new state of Israel and its Arab neighbors was that both the Jews and the Arabs claimed that Israel/Palestine

Jews : A Religious Group Of People Originating From Israel
6#2 The Research Essay Draft Jews, a religious group of people originating from Israel, have lived in Europe for about 1500 years. A great number of
Jews settled in Germany. For some mysterious reasons, Jews were extremely prosperous. Although they lived peacefully with their neighbors, Jews
were rejected and were forced to live under restrictions such as curfews. Jews were also barred from owning land or from holding jobs that they desired
and for which they qualified. Even under these constraints, Jews prospered and gained significant values as merchants throughout Europe. During the
Middle Age, with the increased spread of Christianity, Jews were looked upon as "allied with Muslims" and many were killed (Shyovitz). Consequently,

Although the Nazi's goal during World War II was to exterminate the Jews, many Jews share their survival stories today, because one man changed
the course of history and saved over one thousand innocent people. In 1933, half of a million Jews lived in Germany. The Nuremberg Laws, adopted
in 1935, stripped away German citizenships from all the Jews. In the next few years, about 300,000 Jews fled Germany ("German Jews during the
Holocaust"). Those who chose to stay behind or were unable to flee were forced to live under scrutiny. Strict regulations were imposed upon them.
Besides having meager food rations, Jews had restricted access and limited time to purchase their food. Jews' property, such as bicycles, radios,
and appliances were confiscated, and they were not allowed to use public transportation. Eventually, the preponderance of Jews in Germany, until
deportation began, lived in concentration camps. German Jews were not the only ones who were suffering in the 1930's. In 1938, Poland cancelled
citizenship of those Jews who lived outside of Poland for more than five years (Pentlin). Twelve to fifteen thousand Polish Jews, who lived in
Germany at that time, were sent back to Poland only to find out that they are not accepted. When Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939,
just in a few days, over 100,000 Jews were killed ("German Jews during the Holocaust"; Pentlin). In the next few weeks, among the 60,000 Jews who

The development of Israel received more threats of obliteration, but Israel could defend themselves. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu states
that "The head of Hezbollah says: "If all the Jews gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide" (Source A). This
example falls into the Holocaust. The Holocaust gathered Jews for their obliteration but now even after the Holocaust, there are still threats of
letting the Jews have Israel so they can wipe out the Jews easier instead of gathering the Jews from different countries. This is a prime example
showing that the study of the Holocaust ties into the state of Israel because the state of Israel was threatened of obliteration of the Jews, which
would carry out the Holocaust. The Prime Minister then explains further that, "The founding of Israel did not stop the attacks against Jews. It
merely gave the Jews power to defend themselves against those attacks...Time and again the Israeli army was forced to repel attacks of much
larger enemies determined to destroy us"(Source A). Another threat was again identified by the Prime Minister "radical Iranian armed with nuclear
weapons could bring an end to the era of nuclear peace the world has enjoyed for the last 65 years. Such a regime could provide nuclear weapons to
terrorists might be tempted to use them itself...Iran's brazen bid to develop nuclear weapons is first and foremost a threat to Israel"(Source A).
Overall both these quotes give support to the reasoning that the threats and attacks against the Jews aren't scarce but rising. The development of
Israel only gave the Jews more power to defend themselves against the crimes, instead of lowering the threat of the obliteration of their race. All the
threats are very dangerous for the Jews in this time period and were very dangerous back then. Before Israel was developed the Jews were targeted

A History of the Soviet Jew in Israel
The idea of Israel as a place of refuge for Soviet Jews has a troubled history. Israel has always encouraged and assisted immigration and absorption as
part of a pro–immigration ideology and policy. Israel is a safe–haven for Jews. However, the heavy migration of the Soviet Jews into Israel caused
Israelis to rethink their past . The immigration of Soviet Jews to Israel brought significant social and cultural changes to Israel in terms of the historical

Reasons Of The Conflict With The Arab And Israeli Conflict
What do you think about the conflicts with the Arab and Israelis conflict going on in the now what's called the country of Israel? The Arab and
Israelis were constantly arguing and fighting over the country of Israel mainly because of the holy city of both religions Israel. I believe that there are
3 main conflicts one of the first reasons is because both groups were fighting over the country of Israel because of the holy city of Jerusalem. Another
reason is because Britain had promised both groups the land of Israel. Finally is that the Jews had went into Palestine and kicked people out of the
country.
One of the major reasons is that both groups were fighting over the country of Israel and over Jerusalem mainly because they were the holy city
for both Judaism and Islam. In document 2 it states" We Jews only want that which is given naturally to all peoples of the world to be masters of
our own fate...We are certain that given an opportunity of bringing in large masses of Jews into this country, of opening the doors of Palestine to
all Jews who wish to come here, we can...create a free Jewish society built on the basis of cooperation, equality and mutual aid." This quote means
after the Jews were tired of being in war and they finally wanted a place of their own. During the war many Jews were slaughtered and those who
were left had to find a place a go. The text in document 2 states" Therefore, you will realize what it meant for us to watch from here millions of Jews

Changes In The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
In the Middle East, the Israeli–Palestinian conflict has been one of the most controversial conflicts in modern history, dating back to when the region
was dominated by British rule. Beginning long before the formation of the state of Israel in 1948, Israel and Palestine have clashed over who can
claim the holy land. The Israelis believe that they should solely have possession of the holy land, being a gift from God to Abraham to Isaac,
according to the Bible. Contradicting the Israelis, the Palestinians believe the holy land was given to Ishmael from Abraham, who is an ancestor to the
Muslim people. From 1914 to modern times, Israel has underwent positive changes between the Israelis and Palestinians through the formation of

Palestine, fighting British authorities in pursuit of an independent Israeli state. The fighting in Palestine led to the United Nations dividing Palestine
into Jewish and Arab states in 1947. In less than a year, the British mandate ended and Israel declared independence. Beginning in 1948, the first
Arab–Israeli war occurred and Israel gained more land than expected, including western Jerusalem. This war resulted in about two–thirds of the 1.2

The state of Israel–rich in tradition and innovation, has in its short existence been one of the most politically interesting phenomenons in the modern
world. The state, since the signing of the Declaration of Establishment in 1948 has created a specific form of democracy not seen among many
countries throughout the world; democracy which incorporates religious law as well as judicial and social law. WithinIsrael's Higher Law, written by
Steven V. Mazie, religion and liberal democracy are discussed in regards to the Jewish State. Mazie focuses on the struggle between liberal
democracy and religion, and how both affect the two types of people living in Israel–Arabs and Jews. Both groups of Israelis ... Show more content on

Separation of church and state is essential in creating a liberal state. Within a liberal state, religion should be expressed and practiced in a private
setting. This idea of separation of church and state emerges from the beginning of the United States. Thomas Jefferson coined the term a "wall of
separation", which defines the relationship between religion and government. Although many problems arise out of government and church
intertwinement, strict separation is not the most practical answer in today's world. States that show toleration for the vast majority of religious
views while still focusing on the main religion are more likely to work within a democratic and liberal spectrum than those who demonstrate strict
separation. Chapter 1 begins with, "One of the most familiar ideas of contemporary liberal thought is the State and Church must remain separate"
(Mazie 3). This idea which Mazie expresses is commonly seen as the best way to secure religious freedom. Mazie uses arguments by John Locke to
better express the idea of religious freedom within a state. In John Locke's "Letter Concerning Toleration" he claims the attempt by government to
oppress religion has caused many of the wars in the Christian world. Toleration, seen as the main ingredient in John Locke's proposal, is also Mazie's
key to social harmony and stability. Mazie designates chapter two for the discussion of Israel as

History of Origin
One can say that the modern state of Israel is a direct result of World War II. Following the war, The British Mandate for Palestine (1920), which
directed the administrative control by Britain of the territory formally under Ottoman Empire rule, ended on May 14, 1948. According to the United
States Central Intelligence Agency (2016), or CIA, the United Nations then proposed a plan that would divide that same area into Jewish and Arab
states after millions of Jews were displaced from Nazi–Germany. On the same day, inspired by the dream of Jewish sovereignty, Israel was declared a
state in Tel Aviv (State of Israel Proclaimed," 2010). David Ben
–Gurion then became the first Prime Minister of Israel and is widely known as the
father and architect of the country. The declaration of Israel was a move widely rejected by Arab Nations and resulted in massive tensions

Jews were randomly being murdered because of the fact that they were Jewish. The Jews in Cairo were accused of being spies for Israel with no proof.
They were arrested and were convicted without a fair trial. The Jews were being massacred. The president of Egypt, Gamal Abdel Nasser, began a mass

When it comes to Israel, Yoffie believes in a state that is democratic, and offers "equal rights to all those who permanently reside within its
borders". The two state solution is the only answer and those who support it are rightfully granting equal rights to their Arab inhabitants and
support democracy without reservations. Yoffie says the state must be Jewish and hold a secure jewish majority, so that her citizens can experience
what it truly means to be jewish in the holy land. A Jewish state without being the majority would negate the concept of establishing a Jewish
democratic state. A Jewish state where Jews are the majority would promote the values of a Jewish nation. This would include the religion and
culture of the Jewish people, would allow Jews to sing a jewish national anthem, have jewish holidays represent the rhythm to the calendar, and to
have a place where the jews can openly use their jewish values and spirit in their daily life. The Jews would no longer struggle in being the minority.
Rabbi Yoffie states that the precise nature of a Jewish nation has yer has yet to be defined and will evolve over time. It will evolve over time

Jewish Concentration Camps In Ww2 Essay
The Jewish people faced horrific atrocities during WWII. WWII was a conflict between the Axis powers and the Allies; the conflict between the Axis
powers and the Allies was a result of Germany's invasion of Poland. Subsequent to the Nazi invasion of Poland, concentration camps were operational.
In the Nazi concentration camps, Jews were being asphyxiated; atrocious actions were occurring in concentration camps which resulted in a
substantially large amount of Jews being killed in concentration camps; fundamentally, the Jewish people were being butchered by the Nazis. In
addition, Jews living in Germany had their citizenship stripped from them as a result of the Nuremberg Laws; they weren't allowed to live in Germany
anymore and suffered extreme discrimination. Once WWII ended, the Jews had nowhere to go; therefore, they started to settle in Palestine. The
number of Jews that were settling in Palestine started to rise significantly. Hence, tensions were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once the Jews arrived in Palestine in voluminous amounts, violence erupted; Jews and Arabs were involved in a homicidal fracas. Land should not
be awarded for hostile, demoniac behavior. Additionally, in WWII the Jews were literally expunged from their homes, which is essentially what
would happen to the Arabs if the land was given to the Jews. By giving the state of Israel to the Jews, you are essentially giving away another
person's home without their consent; the concept of giving another person's home to somebody else in order to give another person a place to live is
implausible. Intrinsically, you are extracting the Arabs from their home, which is, in essence, what Hitler did to the Jews in WWII. Giving Israel to the
Jews would not be ratiocinative; therefore, the Jews should not have been given the state of

Jerusalem : The City Of Peace
Jerusalem is one of the oldest cities in the world. Located in between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea, It is the main destination for those
tourists that have a desire of getting a grasp of the Western East Countries, and for many, a unique religious experience. However, Jerusalem: also
called the "Holy Land" has by its name a very controversial meaning: " The City of Peace". Once ago in this place, according to the Hebrew Bible
(The Tanakh), the Temple of Solomon was built. According to the Muslim Bible (The Quran), also the location of the Dome of the Rock. From the
Christian point of view and The Bible, It was once the place where the trial, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus took place. This series of religious
events have brought up along with it a conflict in between Middle Eastern Countries for more than 50 years long with one main question on the plate:
Who fairly and ethically deserves to live in the Holy Land? This conflict is among Jews and Arabs. Palestine for the Arabs is a land whose Oil has been
cultivated by them for generations. Israel, as later called by the Jews, is a land of inspiration that is destined for them, since many Jews had been living
in Israel and emigrating previously (Fraser,1). This shows the Socio–Political and religious roots of the conflict. The Arabic population is currently
located in Jerusalem, but the Jewish Population in Israel has a strong desire of relocating to Jerusalem someday, and have been fighting for this to
happen

Essay On The Holocaust In Relation To The State Of Israel

  • 1. Essay On The Holocaust In Relation To The State Of Israel The Holocaust in Relation to The State of Israel The State of Israel and the Holocaust are two events that turned the tide from Anti–Semitism to most of the world tolerating and accepting Jews. The Holocaust had created waves of horror that emanated out from Europe and echoed throughout the world about human suffering and mistreatment. The reaction to the Holocaust resulted in the founding of Israel. To understand the Holocaust, one must first understand Israel and its founding because Israel was given to the Jews after the Holocaust and affects the way they protect themselves, the Jewish now have a way to defend themselves, and the Holocaust has influenced their views and interactions with the rest of the world. Israel was given to the Jews to compensate for the injustice waged on their culture. Israel is the mechanism in which the Jewish people can defend themselves against future attacks like the Holocaust. They protect it with vigour and use the Holocaust as an excuse for their overprotectiveness. Israel helps the Jews defend themselves and have a place where their voice is heard. Here is Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu's perception of this phenomenon." The founding of Israel did not stop the attacks against the Jews. It merely gave the Jews the power to defend themselves against those attacks" (Source A). This quote explains that the founding of Israel gave the Jews the power to ... • 2. Dbq Essay: Should Israel Receive Israel Back? Ignorance is what the Palestinians have. They don't understand that Israel does not belong to them. They acted violently towards the Israelis, abused them, and began a war in order to take over their homeland. Therefore, I feel sympathy for the Israelis and believe they should have Israel back. They should have it back because one, the birthplace of most Jewish people was in Israel, two, the Jews converted the land to re–establish themselves and create a country, and three, in 1897 Theodore Herzl, the first Zionist Congress, gave the Jewish people the right to a national rebirth in its country. Therefore, Israel should be given back to the Jews. To begin with, most of the Jewish people were born in Israel. There, they formed their spiritual, political, and religious identities. In document 1 it is stated, "Here they first attained to statehood, created cultural values of national and universal significance, and gave to the world the eternal books of books." That should come to the obvious point that Palestine can't take over what is someone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They used what they had to their advantage and worked hard to re–establish themselves in their ancient homeland. They strove to make a successful country, as document 1 states, "They built towns and created a thriving community controlling its own economy and culture," they brought progress to all the country's people, and they sprouted an independent nation. The Palestinians have to accept the matter of fact that whomever comes first is the one to be served and not the second, so they must leave, for they are not served in Israel. Moreover, In 1897 Theodore Herzl, the first Zionist Congress, gave the Jewish people the right to a national rebirth in their country. In document 1 it is stated, "...the right of the Jewish people to rebuild its National home." For that reason, the Jewish people must have Israel back, and the Palestinians must give it ... Casey Dufner Ms. Reyes English I–4 period 12 November 2015 Holocaust Research Paper: Rough Draft The Entirety of the Jewish people was affected by the Holocaust during World War II. The study of the Holocaust directly ties in with the study of the state of Israel because Israel has the right to be able to defend themselves against anything similar to the Holocaust from ever happening again, Jews are committing crimes against other nations in order to protect themselves, and the Jews were forced to move from most European countries to the state of Israel. The state of Israel and its people are being attacked, and they need to be able to fight back. "Throughout history, the slanders against the Jewish people always preceded ... Other countries around Israel are threatening the Jewish state, and because of the Jewish people 's history, they need to be able to stop anything terrible from happening again. "In recent decades the hatred of the Jews has reemerged with increasing force, but with an insidious twist. It is not merely directed at the Jewish people but increasingly at the Jewish state...if only Israel did not exist, many of the world's problems would go away." (Source A). Jews throughout history have received hatred from many different countries for different reasons. Therefore the people need support from other countries to be able to protect themselves. "A radical Iranian regime armed with nuclear weapons could bring an end to the era of nuclear peace the world has enjoyed for the last 65 years...Iran's brazen bid to develop nuclear weapons is first and foremost a threat to Israel..." (Source A). Israel may be an entire country, but the history of the Jewish people states that they are weak, meaning it is an easy target for a country to destroy. Israel may have been at peace with Iran before, but now that Iran has the tools for war, they are willing to just throw the relationship away, because Iran knows it can happen again. For one to understand the State of Israel, one must look at in it relation to the Holocaust because Israel uses defence techniques that it would not feel necessary if not for the Holocaust, the Holocaust has changed the Jewish faith, and the Holocaust has caused issues with the overall view of the Jews. Israel has used tactics to defend itself, and to get the international "right to exist". • 5. Ethiopian And Soviet Immigration And Their Impacts On... Ethiopian and Soviet Immigration and Their Impacts on Israeli Society Israel is a state complete with a multitude of ethnicities. As Jews began to immigrate to the newly formed state, they brought with them distinctive cultural values and traditions that shifted Israel from a more homogenized community into a definite "melting pot". Significant waves of Jews came from Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and even North America. The impact each of these groups had on Israeli society differed from group to group. Two of the most recent waves of immigrants to Israel came from Ethiopia and the former Soviet Union. Both groups changed the dynamic of Israeli society in ways previous groups had not. In Israel today there are 125,500 Ethiopian Jews. This constitutes 1.75% of the total population and makes Israel home to the largest Ethiopian Jewish community. This group lived predominantly in the North and Northwestern parts of Ethiopia and can trace its origins back to biblical times, when many Jews migrated to Ethiopia following the exile of Jews in Egypt. According to tradition, in the 4th century CE this group was pressured to convert to Christianity and refused. They became known by the term "Beta Israel", meaning "house of Israel". In modern times, they have lived among Christian and Muslim communities in Ethiopia. In the 20th century, Beta Israel renewed contracts with other Jewish communities. • 6. The Arab/Israeli Conflict The Arab Israeli conflict. The Arab/Israeli conflict is a conflict between the Arabs and the Jews over a small piece of land known as the holy land which is an area in the Middle East of the Arab world. The Arabs call the land Palestine, the Jews call it Israel but both religions have strong religious links with the land. There is conflict between the two religions because they both believe that the land belongs to them. it all started back in 135 AD when the Jews were expelled from they're homeland in Palestine causing them too spread out across Europe creating the Diaspora. Many Arabs opposed British troops because of England's failure to fulfill its promise and were also getting angry about the increase of jewish migrating to palestine. Arabs became concerned that Jewish immigration would threaten their position in Palestine which lead to large scale attacks on the jews. At the time of Hitler's dictatorship in Germany, Jewish immigration increased dramatically in 1933. An Arab revolt started which Britain suppressed with the help of Zionist militias. Zionist settlements climaxed in 1936. In 1947, Britain forbid Jewish refugees from nazi concentration camps to land in Palestine to prevent war between Jews and Arabs, which resulted in worldwide criticism of Britain. Britain withdrew itself from the situation handing over the mandate over Palestine, leaving the United Nations to deal with the situation. The United Nations proposed that Palestine was divided into two states, one for the Arabs and one for the Jews, however the Arabs opposed this idea claiming that the UN plan allotted too much territory to the Jews. the arabs thought it was unfair that the jews should get more land because the arabs were by far the larger population but because of the holocaust the was a lot of sympathy for the jews and this may be why the got more land. This has been cause Jews to flee European countries in fear of being attacked. Despite all of that, after a new poll was taken on Anti–Semitic attitudes in over one hundred countries, they have found that Anti–Semitic attitudes have taken a significant decreased in certain European countries. It has been around for as long as the Jews have been around. Incase you didn't know that is over two thousand years. The first thing we have to look at is why do we find Jews in so many places in the world, but if were going to do that we have to go way back to the beginning. Jews started out in an area of land called Mesopotamia, which is modern day Iraq. They were freed by Cyrus the Great and went to the province of Judah, which is modern day Israel. Now during these times Judah was a part of the Roman Empire. Then something called the Jewish Diaspora happened and Jews were forced to leave the place the called home of Judah. The Jews then spread to parts of Northern Africa, Most every part of Europe, and some parts of Asia. There were many accounts of Anti–Semitism during these times. An example of this could be what happened I Spain. Spain went through what was called the Spanish inquisition, where Spaniards would force Jews to either leave or convert. Jews would often refuse to do either of them and stay and be murdered. Another example would be in the Russian Empire. In the Russian Empire there were these Anti–Semitic programs called Pogroms. • 8. Ethiopian Jew Research Paper "ETHIOPIAN JEWS" Throughout the bible, the people of Ethiopia had intermingled and intermarried with the descendants of Shem even before Abraham was born. Abraham and his descendants have racially intermixed and intermarried with the Ethiopians from the beginning of the Hebrew–Jewish origins, as many Ethiopians were known to be Hebrew–Jewish descent. Moses and his family were Hebrews having Ethiopian origins. There are many Jewish communities in Ethiopia today, and one of these groups are the "Falashas or Beta Israel" meaning the House of Israel". The Falasha are believed to descent from Menelik 1, who was known to be the son of Solomon and Queen of Sheba. The large number of the orthodox Jews believed that the Falasha were the descendants of the tribe of Dan, and they were among the ten lost tribes of Israel that was taken to exile by the Assyrians in 722 BC. It was also believed that some of the Falasha Jews of Ethiopian emigrated to Ethiopia after the Exodus in Egypt, and others emigrated after the destruction of Solomon's ... When the war ended, the U.S. and other countries revealed to the world the amount of torture and mistreatment the Jews suffered under Nazi control. Many wanted to help these suffering outcasts, so Jewish Zionists suggested the Jews be relocated to Palestine, where they could live in peace away from others(Devine, 1). He felt compunctious for the Jews, since the United States had denied many desperate Jews citizenship to escape Nazi brutality(Citation, 1). In his efforts to help the Jews, he often got advice from Jewish advisors on the issue. Important Zionists of the time period such as David Niles, a member of the Jewish Agency, and Max Lowenthal influenced Truman's decisions, making him push through plans to give the Jews back the Promise Land. When Israel became a country, he thanked both, referring to Max as a "benefactor to State of Israel" and wrote to David "You have been such a tower of strength for me during the past six years, and I can't tell you how very much I appreciate it"(Devine, 1). Truman's power as president and support for plans would be crucial to the Jews regaining the Promise Land. Another big supporter of the Jews was Great Britain. In the early 1920's, the hatred of Jews was horrific, so the League of Nations decided to intervene and help. In response to the issue, the League put Great Britain in charge of the Mandate for Palestine, which "was called upon to facilitate the establishment of a Jewish national home in Palestine–Eretz Israel, or the Land of Israel"(Citation, 1). • 10. Anti-Semitism Argument Against Israel A recent letter to the editor titled "speaking out against Israel cannot be conflated with 'anti–Semitism'" showed a lack of knowledge surrounding the movement of Zionism, as well as a misunderstanding of modern anti–Semitism. The author argues a few distinct points, being that supporting Zionism is a way of Jews to suppress the voice from people of color, that Jewish teachings and morality do not support Zionism, and that Israel's treatment of the Palestinians is in the same lines and philosophy of white supremacists and Nazis. To begin deconstructing these points we start by considering if Zionism is, in fact, a ploy for white Jews to suppress the voices of people with color; as the author claimed. To be clear there are more non–Jewish Zionist in the world than Jewish ones. The movement of Zionism derives support from many groups other than white Jews. To argue it's a strategy by Jews to suppress the voice of others ignores the massive quantity of non–Jews who are Zionists and will publicly support Israel. This comparison to Nazism is one of the most prevalent forms of modern anti–Semitism. Natan Sharansky developed the criteria to where a critique of Israel becomes anti–Semitic, being which the double standard, delegitimization, and demonization of Israel. They called themselves "Beta Israel" or "House of Israel" but their neighbors called them "Falasha" or "stranger". They practiced a pure form of Talmudic Judaism that was based solely on the most sacred texts and they adhered to extremely strict religious law. The Jews ruled much of Ethiopia for many years until new leadership came to be, and they faced deadly persecution. • 13. The Creation Of Israel By John F. Kennedy Joey Dettore Mrs. Whitney Global Perspectives 3/15/16 The Creation of Israel "Israel was not created in order to disappear–Israel will endure and flourish. It is the child of hope and the home of the brave. It can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by success. It carries the shield of democracy and it honors the sword of freedom." These are John F. Kennedy's thoughts and opinions upon the creation of Israel. In the time leading up to the creation of Israel, the Jews had endured much suffering through the terrible acts of the Holocaust. Jews have proven to rise from the despair and the suffering that they had to endure and they ultimately created something stupendous: their own country. There have been many obstacles in the way for the Jews to do this, the biggest being the Arab Palestinians. The Arab Palestinians objected to the Arab Jews forming a nation and if it were not for the help of the United States, Israel would have never been able to overrule the power of the Arab Palestinians and take over the land for themselves. With tremendous support from the United States, the creation of Israel exemplifies the joyous and magnificent accomplishment that not only Arab Jews accomplished, but all Jews. • 15. The Israel And Palestine Conflict And The... For thousands of years, Israel and Palestine have fought over the land. Many wars have taken place and several peace treaties have failed. At the root of the Israeli–Palestinian rivalry is a debate over boundaries and territories. Israel should have sheer control of this land because they arrived here first. Israel should own the land, including Jerusalem, because they occupied the region first. In the beginning, God chose Abraham to protect the Hebrew people. Abraham made an agreement with God. This agreement was that God would protect Abraham and his descents if they would obey God. This is called a covenant. After being forced into slavery, the Hebrews fled Egypt between thirteen hundred and twelve hundred B.C. and the Jews call this the Exodus. The man who led them out of Egypt was Moses. When they came to Canaan, they formed twelve different tribes. When the Romans conquered the land, Israel had no homeland, even though Jews were granted to reside there. They were forced from their homeland in two different dispersions. One happened in 70 A.D. and the other in 135 A.D. They were forced out by Palestinians in 135 A.D. After being forced out, the Jews spread out in different countries and this was known as the Diaspora. However, there was always a Jewish presence in the land. International support There are two great reasons Zionism or International Support back up the creation of Israel that I will explain to you, but I'm sure there are plenty more. First evidence "The people kept faith with [Israel] throughout their Dispersion (Diaspora) and never ceased to hope and pray for their return to it," as said in Document B. Second evidence Also, quoted from Document B is the evidence, "The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution calling for the establishment of a Jewish state in Eretz–Israel." The Holocaust gathered Jews for their obliteration but now even after the Holocaust, there are still threats of letting the Jews have Israel so they can wipe out the Jews easier instead of gathering the Jews from different countries. This is a prime example showing that the study of the Holocaust ties into the state of Israel because the state of Israel was threatened of obliteration of the Jews, which would carry out the Holocaust. The Arab and Israelis were constantly arguing and fighting over the country of Israel mainly because of the holy city of both religions Israel. I believe that there are 3 main conflicts one of the first reasons is because both groups were fighting over the country of Israel because of the holy city of Jerusalem. Another reason is because Britain had promised both groups the land of Israel. Finally is that the Jews had went into Palestine and kicked people out of the country. One of the major reasons is that both groups were fighting over the country of Israel and over Jerusalem mainly because they were the holy city for both Judaism and Islam. In document 2 it states" We Jews only want that which is given naturally to all peoples of the world to be masters of our own fate...We are certain that given an opportunity of bringing in large masses of Jews into this country, of opening the doors of Palestine to all Jews who wish to come here, we can...create a free Jewish society built on the basis of cooperation, equality and mutual aid." This quote means after the Jews were tired of being in war and they finally wanted a place of their own. During the war many Jews were slaughtered and those who were left had to find a place a go. Changes In The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict In the Middle East, the Israeli–Palestinian conflict has been one of the most controversial conflicts in modern history, dating back to when the region was dominated by British rule. Beginning long before the formation of the state of Israel in 1948, Israel and Palestine have clashed over who can claim the holy land. The Israelis believe that they should solely have possession of the holy land, being a gift from God to Abraham to Isaac, according to the Bible. Contradicting the Israelis, the Palestinians believe the holy land was given to Ishmael from Abraham, who is an ancestor to the Muslim people. WithinIsrael's Higher Law, written by Steven V. Mazie, religion and liberal democracy are discussed in regards to the Jewish State. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Separation of church and state is essential in creating a liberal state. Within a liberal state, religion should be expressed and practiced in a private setting. This idea of separation of church and state emerges from the beginning of the United States. Thomas Jefferson coined the term a "wall of separation", which defines the relationship between religion and government. Although many problems arise out of government and church intertwinement, strict separation is not the most practical answer in today's world. States that show toleration for the vast majority of religious views while still focusing on the main religion are more likely to work within a democratic and liberal spectrum than those who demonstrate strict separation. Chapter 1 begins with, "One of the most familiar ideas of contemporary liberal thought is the State and Church must remain separate" (Mazie 3). This idea which Mazie expresses is commonly seen as the best way to secure religious freedom. Mazie uses arguments by John Locke to better express the idea of religious freedom within a state. In John Locke's "Letter Concerning Toleration" he claims the attempt by government to oppress religion has caused many of the wars in the Christian world. Toleration, seen as the main ingredient in John Locke's proposal, is also Mazie's key to social harmony and stability. Mazie designates chapter two for the discussion of Israel as ...
