Professional Soccer Player As A Professional Athlete Player
Is there such thing as the dream job? For many, being a professional athlete is like the perfect job. For me, that is too vague. I have done my
research, and it is clear to me now what a great job being a professional soccer player is. Soccer players participate in the world's most popular sport,
which is soccer (Facts on File). Although, their job isn't always just to play the sport. They must also deal with the media and everything the club they
are in asks of them. Being a soccer player can be tough, but it comes with many perks and benefits. In addition, little education is required, but lots of
skill and characteristics are needed. Professional soccer players might live the dream lives of many. They play a very fun sport and get paid to do so.
Although, it may come with a lot of stress if they do not manage it correctly. A lot is expected from these players week in and week out. Not only
do they have to work on the pitch, but also with sponsors and the press. In addition, this career is not a lifelong career, so it is crucial to be
prepared for when you retire. One of the greatest parts of being a soccer player is the high salary you will receive (Facts on File). Since being a
professional athlete does not require much study, a high school diploma is good enough to become a soccer player (Facts on File). Yet, training for
the sport is still needed, and can be expensive before becoming a pro. Soccer players normally show interest in the sport since their youth.

Soccer : The Effect Of Concussions In Soccer
The whistle blows. An injured soccer player is lying on the field holding her head. Whispers of the word "concussion" fill the stands, and finally
when the young girl stands, the crowd claps as she walks off the field, knowing she will be out for the rest of the season. Unfortunately, this scenario
happens all too often on a soccer field. Soccer is a fairly aggressive sport that has been the cause to many concussions over the years. Even though
some people think that wearing headgear will help prevent concussions during a soccer game, soccer players should not have to wear headgear since
there is no proof that it prevents concussions because players need to follow player protocol, heading the ball does not cause concussions, and soccer
is known to be a physical sport. People often argue that concussions in soccer are caused by heading the ball. For example, concussion headbands were
made for players to wear during soccer games to help protect them from getting concussions (Clarey). One cannot deny that concussion headbands
may help reduce the impact from the ball (Clarey). According to Soccer Headgear: Does It Do Any Good? by Jere Longman, "Headgear could
reduce impact forces by 10 to 30 percent" (Longman). Supposedly, players will wear concussion headgear to help reduce concussions. The
headgear will help reduce some of the force from the ball when the player's head makes contact with the ball (Longman). Not only will wearing
headgear during the game help prevent concussions, but also the age at which kids can head the ball with help prevent them too. A new rule
states soccer players 10 and under cannot head the ball in games or practice. Based on new rules from the U.S. Soccer and the American Youth
Soccer Organization, "Children 10 years or under will no longer be allowed to head the ball in practice or games, while players ages 11 to 13 will only
be allowed to do it during practice and not games" (Storrs). Having young players start heading the ball later in life will ensure that they are learning
how to head the ball correctly and accurately. Heading the ball at a young age will put the young players at a higher risk to get a concussion because
they most likely are doing it wrong. However, wearing

Gary Carter: One Of The Best Baseball Player
Baseball is a common sport that is played as a team. The goal is to win by having more runs scored than the opposed team. There are nine positions on
the field and each has a different job to do. The catcher is a very important position and played by the top skilled people in the MLB. One of the best
catchers of all time, Gary Carter, was a greatly skilled man and lived to the fullest he could be in his career of baseball.
Gary Carter was born on April 8th, 1954 in California. As a kid, Gary was a paperboy and always did the job right. For such a job like that, he
perfected how he delivered the paper and his accuracy. A famous quote said by Gary was a remarkable and one of his most famous quote, "I was going
to be the best paperboy ever. I used my StingRay bike and got the papers there after school. People knew I porched everything. No roofs, No lawns. I
stopped the bike and nailed it. And if I ever missed, I would go pick it up and do it right." Practice is the key to success. Gary perfected a simple task
and did it to the best he could do. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

always wanted to push to his limits and to always win. For such ordinary contests, he tried his hardest. For just a simple sprint down the outfield, he
tried his hardest always. He got his nickname, The Kid, because he always tried and cared about winning. Usually kids like to win and be the center of

The player decides the actions of the football player on and off the pitch. The footballer plays for River Park FC. During a match, the gameplay is
about scrolling texts before switching to the first person perspective as the footballer gets a chance on goal. Whether the player scores or not depends
on the decision he makes. When there are no games being played then the footballer gets the chance to get match fitness points through completing
training exercises. The training exercises include passing skills, shooting skills and lastly defending skills. The game has been interestingly made as it
also has pundits Lee Dixon and Andy Townsend to complete the footballing experience. The pundits appear on the football show Goal Mouth which
comes on from time to time. To improve the footballer's abilities then accuracy, power and curl must be increased and this can be done either through

Tiger Woods Research Paper
Tiger Woods has been hailed as one of the greatest golfers, if not athletes, of all time. He has trumped other golfers and sports observers for the
past 19 years as he has climbed and prevailed in the golf world. Tiger's success has been accredited to many factors in his life, and has varied
throughout the years having his ups and downs. The purpose of this paper is to give a valid argument as to why Tiger Woodscould possibly be the
greatest golfer of all time. Tiger's success is highly accredited to his father, who sculpted Tiger's skill set to the level it is at today. Woods was born in
Cypress, California, to Earl and Multiday Woods. He is the only child of their marriage; however, he does have two half–brothers, Earl Grand Kevin,
and a half–sister, Royce from the 18 year marriage of Earl Woods and his first wife, Barbara Woods Gray. Earl, a retired lieutenant colonel and
Vietnam War veteran, was of mostly African American, as well as Caucasian, and possible Native American and Chinese, ancestry. Multiday, originally
from Thailand, is of mixed Thai, Chinese, and Dutch ancestry.

Mass Media Manipulation Negatively Affects African...
Since the early 2000's we have seen the rise and power of the mass media. However what most people fail to realize are how mass media
manipulation negatively affects African American athletes on all levels. When dissecting this situation there are several key things to understand.
America is a country that was born out of racism and is still being controlled to this day by racism. So naturally every institution that is run by racist
such as the NBA, NCAA, NFL, the Supreme Court, major banking companies or the media. Within every racist institution there is a natural plan built
in for blacks to fail. While on one hand there is a plan for most blacks to fail on the other hand there are plans set up to capitalize off our talent on every

Physical matureness by and large cause a normal growth in strength, quickness, and size which are significant traits for sport success but the only
thing youth sports reveal to us is that some players are maturing more rapidly than others. At the youth level being bigger, stronger, and faster are
typically all that is required to stand out in a group of less prepared underdeveloped athletes. But it is not a pure marker in terms of who is really the
most gifted At more mature ages skill and accomplishments are closely related, but at the young sport level such a relationship is untimely since
achievement gains are dependent on more than just changing physical attributes. Victory in youth sport is comparative to whoever is on the team or
field; therefore accomplished adolescents are distinguished in relation to others they are competing with and not against some universal test. Few of
these players may be more accomplished between their Slower maturing mates but it doesn 't maintain that they are also more gifted. In any event, we
have an inclination to glorify a youthful competitor 's ability by naming him as super talented when the pure argument is that he 's really just maturing
faster then his peers. The next terrible thing plaguing black males athletes is the illusion of pro success. Due to the overexposure of professional
athletes and chance to hit it big. As well as over praise for these professionals make young males aspire to do nothing other then become

Keeping an Optimistic Attitude in Life Essay
Keeping an Optimistic Attitude in Life Optimistic and pessimistic attitudes constantly affect the outcome of people's lives. In my life, I try to keep an
optimistic attitude about the things I do because I know it will help lead me to more desirable ends. There have been many situations in which
optimism has helped me through difficult times. Two areas in particular have provided me optimistic experiences: athleticsand academics. First,
optimism was very apparent while I was the co–captain of my high school soccer team. I was captain during my senior year, perhaps the year we had
the best team since I had begun playing in eighth grade. Right from the start of the season I had to show leadership and bring improvement in... Show

The most challenging times for me were those when we would be losing and all the players would get angry with one another. This was especially
apparent when one of the defenders on our team would make a mistake and allow the other team to score. Many players would then yell at him
creating a negative attitude both toward themselves and the player. At that time, even though I was actually angry myself, I would both stop the
other players from yelling and offer encouragement to the one who had made the mistake. For the most part, I would simply offer some advice by
pointing out what he had done wrong and told him how to do it right the next time. Thereby, I would always keep a very positive attitude and told the
players that they were doing well, but they just had to do it better next time. I know that the way I approached the problem helped maintain a positive
attitude among all the players. This approach led to the team playing better and winning more. Another application in which an optimistic attitude has
proven to be very beneficial has been in academics. Notably, there have been classes in which assignments were difficult for me and led to less than
sufficient grades. Even though I was disappointed with my poor performance, I always stayed optimistic about bringing the grades back up. The one
time that stood out among

Leadership Roles of Team Captains
Team Sports Captains:
Effective Leadership Roles
Captains of sports teams are given the stereotype that they are the most athletic player on the team, scoring the most goals and handling the ball best.
In truth, captains have a lot of work they have to do that doesn't even involve playing the sport. Captains are the most looked at player of the game;
other players, younger kids and coaches look to them to set examples. They have to set examples in every aspect of the game; athleticism might be part
of their job but it is not limited to it. The captain of any sports team must set the leadership standard for commitment, confidence, intelligence, and
attitude. Any captain of a sports team must be committed and dedicated to their team. A... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Captains mental ability is crucial during his or her game, they must be able to make quick game deciding choices. The captains role often spills
over to off the playing area since they are frequently the first one interviewed by media and they must have the ability to express themselves readily
and effectively (Mosher, 1981). Captains might also be popular within the community and have people coming and talking to them who they do not
know. They must have the patience and ability to withhold a conversation with them without looking rushed or uncomfortable. Captains have a lot
sitting on their shoulders and he or she must be able to sort through it all and find the right solution or answer they are looking for. On top of all the
pressure the captains are receiving, they must always have confidence in his or her emotional stability. Captains always must always keep their cool,
there should never be an instant where a captain flies off the handle and loses it. He or she should be the one that calms the rest of the team down to
ensure that mouthing off or violence never occurs. Captains know that players are there to play a sport not to fight and the captains from each team
have to work together to keep the game under control (Krayeske, 1974). Captains can not let little things bother them, they have bigger problems to
deal with like making sure that the rest of the team remains calm and plays their game to their full

Gary Webb's Death Of The CIA: A Conspiracy?
This paper will discuss how the CIA and/or the American government played a role in the death of investigative journalist, Gary Webb. Whether it is
a conspiracy or not many question how the investigative journalist died and why his death was ruled as a suicide. Gary Webb was most known for
tracking down corruption and exposing it to millions of Americans. He wrote stories about corruption from county, state, and federal levels, for more
than thirty four years. He is most known for writing an article titled "Dark Alliance", which "linked the CIA to the crack cocaine epidemic in Los
Angeles during the Iran–Contra scandal. He found that drug dealers were smuggling cocaine into the United States and the CIA was using the money
to arm Nicaraguan rebels." (Webb, G. 1998) Webb is also known for writing his last article, written for the Sacramento News titled "The Killing

The Greatest Golfer Of All Time
When asked who is the greatest golfer of all time, what is the first name that comes to mind? This question has been debated for years and will
continue to be for many years to come. Initially, most people will jump the gun and say Jack Nicklaus is the clear favorite because he has won
eighteen major championships compared to Tiger's fourteen. It's quite hard to tell them they are in the wrong considering the major's are what every
golfer dreams of winning and are without a doubt the most hard to come by. Being that there are only four per year, when you're in the hunt coming

Next, I'd like to look the consistency and longevity of these two super athletes. One key statistical edge Tiger has over Jack is total wins. He currently
has seventy–nine wins with many years left to add to that number, whereas Jack retired with only seventy–three. He also trumped Nicklaus with his 142
consecutive cuts made, a streak that lasted more than seven years. Nicklaus' best was 105, which sits third on the all time list. However, if being great
is more about dominating their opposition rather than just compiling numbers, then again Tiger comes out on top. Tiger has a record setting ten
seasons on the PGA Tourin which he won five or more tournaments. Jack sits in third once again with a total of seven. With this being said, it's no
surprise Woods has also comprised the most money titles on tour along with the most player of the year awards. Not to mention he has as claimed the
most Vardon trophies for the best scoring average on tour. No one can argue the fact that Tiger has been the game's undisputed best player more times
than Nicklaus. Woods' most impressive stat would have to be that of the fact that he won twenty–seven percent of the time he competed. This is
extremely impressive because Jack only came out the victor twelve percent on the time when he competed. One must take into consideration that

Should The Nfl Be Stricter Rules?
Even though some people believe that the NFL does not need stricter rules to help prevent concussions, stricter rules are definitely needed. According
to Casebook in Is Football Too Dangerous, Several NFL players have committed suicide over the last few years, and medical evidence suggests that
brain damage–the consequence of years of violent on–field collisions and concussions. This evidence shows that multiple blows to the head have
caused CTE in former NFL players that have played a role in their deaths. CTE is a progressive degenerative disease of the brain found in people
with a history of repetitive brain trauma ("What is CTE?"). How many more deaths are going to happen to former players before the NFL make the
current rules stricter? The NFL can make the current players safer for their futures outside of football. The evidence is there to show why the NFL
needs to make stricter rules. According to Daniel Flynn, the NFL has made vast improvements in safety to prevent concussions. The NFL has
implemented a stricter concussion protocol. The NFL concussion protocol watches for players on the field to have any contact to the head, and show
symptoms of a concussion. The player that shows symptoms will be pulled off the field and evaluated by a team physician and an independent
neurologist. Then, if the player is suspected to have a concussion, he will be taken to the locker room to be evaluated further. If the player is not
diagnosed with a concussion, he can return to

Nhl Lockout
NHL 's lockout
September 16, 2004 the National Hockey League had a labour dispute that led to a lockout. The dispute was about the end of the collective
bargaining agreement (CBA). The National Football League has a working salary cap for the teams in their league. NHL is trying to establish the
same type of system that the NFL has. The negotiation between the NHL Players association and the NHL did not come easy. The disagreements
were that NHL clubs spent too much on player 's salary. The clubs spent over 76 percent of their revenue on the players. With thesalary cap the NHL

misfortune not keeping their hockey league. America doesn 't want another strike like they had because it makes the players look selfish and the NHL
look unstable to outside countries and the public in America.
The Consequences of the lockout the season is increasing popularity in other sports and recreational activities. NHL lockout is one of the reasons
people turn to different ways to spend their time like Texas hold 'em. The popularity of Texas hold 'em has definitely benefited from the lockout
replacing "stud poker" as the most commonly played card game in the United States. Televised events like Worlds Championship Poker gained TV
ratings due to the helping of the NHL lockout. That is one of the reasons TV networks like ESPN is not bidding for a new contract with the NHL.

fan support because they had no hockey to lean on.

counsel Bob Goodnow of the NHLPA was so unreasonable against the leagues offer of a salary cap that after the lockout was settle he was

Excessive Survivalism Is A Sport
Excessive survivalism is a sport in when athletes are obsessed with winning and will do anything to achieve that goal of winning. Players will find
ways to bend the rules or cheat just to achieve the victory over their opponent. The need to win games will overrule the player's morals and beliefs
as a person. This is a huge problem athletes face when it comes to sports. They become so obsessed with winning that it becomes the only
objective they focus on. Some athletes even put their health at risk. In some cases athletes will sustain an injury and will not let the team know so
they can take the proper protocol just so they can they can stay in the game. In other cases, a player may do something that is considered dirty or
against the rules just to get the edge over their opponent, and that might not be how the player is as a person outside of their sport but when it
comes to the game they will do anything they need to do survive and win. Runaway individualism in sports is when a player is all about their self.
Players that tend to have runaway individualism are the ones who are only worried about their own success instead of team success. These players
do not look at their team as a family, they see their teammates as individuals who they just have to share the field or court with. These players usually
do not have a stable home, they bounce around from team to team because they are labeled as selfish players. A perfect example of runaway
individualism is when

of major tournaments won, Nicklaus stands alone with 18 victories(1), a number that does not include major titles won on the Champions Tour. He has
won 73 times on the PGA Tour and has 58 second–place and 36 third–place finishes, as well as a total of 113 victories worldwide.(1) Nicklaus has

In 1963, Nicklaus won the Masters and the PGA Championship(1). He ran away with the 1965 Masters, winning by nine strokes, in what Bobby Jones
called "the greatest
Page 2 performance in golf history."(2) Nicklaus shattered Ben Hogan's Masters record of 274 by three strokes.(1)Nicklaus successfully defended
his Masters title the following year and won his first British Open, becoming one of only five golfers to win all four majors(1) (the others are Gene
Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, and Tiger Woods).(1) At the 1967 U.S. Open, Nicklaus pulled away from Palmer in the final round to win by four

The beginning of the 1970's was the start to Jack's most dominant decade. When it came to winning consistently, Nicklaus was a machine. Between
1970 and 1975 he won seven more majors, the only victories "that count,"(2) as he liked to say. His 1973 PGA Championship title put him

Negative Consequences Of Fighting In Hockey
It's All Fun and Games When Someone Gets Hurt
Since the beginning of hockey, fans have gone crazy for the entertainment fights bring to the games. The punches thrown, blood drawn and players
knocked out certainly excites the crowd and are part of the culture of the game. In fact, it is so widely accepted, that teams specifically hire big guys
to be "enforcers" that protect the rest of the team and throw the punches no one else cares to. Despite its duration in the league, do these fights have
negative consequences as well? Lately, there has been great controversy over whether or not to continue to allow fighting in the league. The N.H.L.
hasn't declared any rule against fighting, but rather, has created a set of rules to outline the penalties and define the responsibilities of fights (National
Hockey League: Official Rules 2014–2015). What the N.H.L. lacks, however, is a statement with evidence to support why they have chosen to allow
fighting. With the current uproar, the League should consider the unfortunate facts and reassess their decision. The official rules, specifically rule 46,

Still, should fighting in hockey be banned? Unfortunately, in order to bring a halt to many of the issues that strike controversy today (e.g. concussions,
depression, anxiety, morality) it seems that an ultimatum against fighting in hockey is needed. Truly, these issues need to be taken into consideration;
they are too prevalent not to. While the N.H.L. has written extensive rules to keep fights in control when they do occur, the League has yet to explain
any benefits from facilitating the fighting at all. So whether the league decides to allow fighting or not, the decision should be made and should be
made with caution and appropriate evaluation of evidence. Clearly, the evidence for banning fights is pervasive; thus, if the League desired that

Familiarity: One of my main features is familiarity, or experience, with managing servers and plugins. I am also very apt to things that I need to learn.
I can easily know and memorize the punishment list, and types of punishments, needed to manage the server without having to reference a guide.
This allows me to efficiently punish rule breakers in a timely manner. Having the ability to memorize the punishment list will also allow for less
false punishments, as I will know the punishment by heart and won't question how long it is, or when to punish. One of my huge skills is
CoreProtect. I've worked with this plugins on servers for around a year, and I could be considered an expert at it. As an example, on OxPvP,
whenever a staff member needed assistance rolling back, they would come to me for the command to do so. I also helped teach staff members how
to use the plugin correctly and efficiently. Another one of my experiences while staff is the banning plugin that HCGames uses (LiteBans). Most of
the past servers that I have worked with used LiteBans. I have a lot of experience using this plugin in punishing and managing players. I also have the
knowledge in screensharing players and suspected rule breakers. For example, on OxPvP I've caught many rule breakers through screensharing them,
and have a good knowledge of how to find clients hidden on players computers.

Hoosiers is a film about second chances. Redemption is given to a short tempered coach, who was issued a lifetime suspension by the NCAA for
physically assaulting a player, and a former star player– turned town drunk. These two defeat their odds by taking a small town high school basketball
team from being just 15 and 10, all the way to the state championship. In my review, I'll attempt to explain how this coach matches up against Kouzes
and Posner's "Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership." Our setting is rural Indiana in a town called Hickory. It's a place that's resistant to change.
Hickory is a place where, according to Myra Fleener, a character in the film, "basketball heroes are treated like gods". This ... Show more content on

They must clarify values. Norman Dale valued teamwork. He believed that no player was more important than the other and he expressed this during
practice and showed it by changing the way the Hickory Huskers practiced. Unlike the town who wanted to get their star player back and keep the
basketball in his hands and not confuse the boys by changing their routine, the new coach wanted to break these barriers. He "modeled the way" by
sticking to his values and ignoring the pestering from the fathers and other townsfolk who invited themselves to practice and by kick out players
who did not want to listen during practice. Leaders gaze across the horizon of time, imagining the attractive opportunities that are in store when they
and their constituents arrive at a destination. They envision exciting and ennobling possibilities. The Leadership Challenge, pg. 17. Inspiring a
Shared Vision comes second on Kouzes and Posner's list. Coach Dale had obtained previous success and knew he could make the Hucksters better.
His vision was to go back to the fundamentals of basketball and playing better defense was part of it. Norman wasn't about scrimmage or a whole lot
of shooting during practice. His vision involved passing the ball no less than four times before taking a shot. This enabled his strong value of
teamwork to take place. He tried to inspire others to

Should Professional Athletes Be Paid?
$29 million, to do half the work that someone with the same occupation as you. Doing half the work should probably mean half the normal pay, but
it 's not. Being paid $29 million for any type of work should probably involve running the most prestigious company in the world, or being the first to
find the cure for cancer. Not even close. Imagine being paid $29 million to play baseball, and not even the whole season. Welcome to the life of Alex
Rodriguez. Alex Rodriguez 's salary in 2013 was $4 million more than the whole Houston Astros roster, making him the highest paid baseball player for
the 13th consecutive season (Blum). Although the talent of professional athlete or professional teams should be rewarded through their salaries, there ...

Individual athletes in any major sport can be paid without actually playing, just because they are their salaries based on the contingencies of the
contract. Currently in the NBA, there are no restrictions on player contracts, so players can be paid a large amount, even if they do not perform well, or
don 't play. There is no cap on the current salary, and no restrictions on the amounts of a players contract (Beck). Meaning, if an NBA player signs a
10 year contract that is designed to pay him increasingly each season, then the organization is legally obligated to abide by the contract, regardless of
the players performance on the court.
The lack of attention to absurd athlete contracts needs to change now, because it brings more competition to sports. It helps small market teams to
be able to compete with the bigger name teams if there is a cap placed. This will make it more interesting for the rest of the league and its fans. It is
shown that price and win percentage do have a correlation. If there was a cap, all teams would have a set range of pricing, and their win percentages
would have less spread, making it very competitive and interesting to watch. In sports like soccer, without a cap, the wealthiest teams will have the
power to buy the best players from around the world, and thus have the best team. This will lead to a dominance of a few teams in the whole league.
With such an emphasis on the amount of money a

Should College Athletes Receive Pay For What They Do?
Should college athletes receive pay for what they do? You've probably seen this pop–up a million times, and thought about it. You've probably figured
why should they? Aren't they already receiving benefits like a full–ride scholarship? But then an athlete will get caught up in a scandal like Johnny
Manziel, where he signed footballs for money.. then you think well why shouldn't he receive that money? And you then contradict yourself. But
shouldn't they receive money from outside sources, and then the benefits from the school. Not get a salary from the school just the benefits they're
already receiving, and money from sponsors. Wouldn't that make sense considering the money they're making the school? According to an ESPN
report Alabama University makes $123,769,841 in total revenue from sports. (College Athletics Revenue) Yet an athlete from Alabama can only receive
benefits from a scholarship.. That doesn't seem right. You would want to be payed when the opportunity arises. It should only be fair theseplayers get a
piece of the revenue pie, after all they are the ones creating the revenue. The players should be getting benefits to allow them to pay for basic college
needs, grow up to be responsible adults, and allow the NCAA to thrive. This would allow for the NCAA to truly thrive as a sporting association.
The schools should not be paying them a salary, but rather allowing their athletes to receive money for their likeness, and/or time. Now not every
player is good enough

2. Describe how you think you could make a difference on CycloneNetwork as a Helper:
I believe i could make a difference as a helper for Cyclone, theirs many reasons why i think i 'll make a difference here but one of the main one is
fairness to all players, i get it, you might dislike a player or for whatever reason someone who wont comply with you, but it doesn 't mean that person
has to be targeted or forced to quit due to being hated on. If you are someone who is staff, you should not just aim to ban/kick that person, theirs tons
of things other players do and they don 't get punished and when they don 't that is when unfairness comes in mind to other people.
Also I 'm alright at telling differences between hacks or just being great in combat, some examples are head movement see how they move or hit
you, some signs of hacks are the head only facing up or down or spinning different directions, also if someone hits faster their ping might be better, in
which case they will hit faster than most who have a bad ping those are the difference between kill–aura and just being good from what I 've learned
from being able to Pvp these past few years. And really theirs just so many ways to tell who hacks or who really does not.
Another thing would be helping more players. Before i was ignored when i started, no one helped me, helpers, mods, admins you name it i had a rough

Depending on my school schedule and homework, I could have anywhere from 3–8 hours to play except on Fridays, when I 'm with my football team

The Season Of The Nhl Hockey Season
The entire 2004–2005 NHL Hockey season was on ice, cancelled due to a lockout announced by Commissioner Gary Bettman because the players
union would not accept any proposal that included a salary cap during contract negotiations. Could the cancelled season have been prevented? Would
there be an agreement for the 2005–2006 NHL season and beyond? If both sides in the negotiations could not reach an agreement and salvage the
season, how must the two parties overcome the barriers (Trotschel, Loschelder, Huffmeier, Schwartz, & Gollwitzer, 2011) to end the lockout? A
thorough analysis of the terms, barriers and powers delineated throughout the negotiation process will show that a more effective negotiation process
would have prevented the cancellation of the 2004–2005 NHL Hockey season.
On September 15, 2004, Gary Bettman, representing the interests of the league and team owners, announced that the NHL players were being locked
out from participating in the upcoming hockey season (Malhotra & Hout, 2006). Gary Bettman was authorized and empowered by the team owners
to declare such a decision in the event the two parties could not come to a contract agreement during negotiations. Bob Goodenow, executive director
of the players union, led negotiations on behalf of the players. Though many issues were addressed in negotiations, the primary issue was over salary
cap. The owners insisted on a cap on salaries and the players refused to accept any agreement that included a cap.

High Artistic Merit Films Exude Special Effects That Take...
High artistic merit films exude special effects that take Hollywood by storm. The American Film Institute lists Forrest Gump as one of the greatest
American films of all time. Released in 1994 by Paramount Pictures, Forrest Gump tells the story of a Southern, mentally challenged man named
Forrest Gump who experiences many tribulations in his life, such as having a low IQ of 75 and wearing braces on his leg as a child. Throughout the
plot of the film, Forrest adheres to a signature phrase coined by his mother, "Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna
get." His willingness allows him to participate in some of the most iconic American events in the 1960s and 1970s. Throughout the film, Forrest serves
in the Vietnam War, masters table tennis, met erstwhile presidents, opens a shrimp business, and even journeys across the country. Above everything
else, the character played by Tom Hanks wants to marry his childhood sweetheart, Jenny Curran, who he always cared about. With a budget of $55
million, the lighthearted comedy–drama's use of special effects paid off as the Academy Award
–winning film remains one of the most iconic American
films in history. Director Robert Zemeckis exploits special effects such as zoomed–in shots, computer–generated imagery, and blue screens to enhance
the theme of a defined destiny as one deals with chance elements in life.

Frank James Cooper 's The Winning Of Barbara Worth
The renowned actor, known as Frank James Cooper, had an affluent upbringing. Frank James Cooper, also known as Gary Cooper, was born on
May, 7, 1901, on a ranch in Helena, Montana. His father, Charles Cooper, was a lawyer from England. His mother's name was Alice Cooper. Cooper
began his education at a prestigious school in England. Then, he attended Grinnell College in Iowa, which he grew a passion for making cartoons.
While at Grinnell College Gary Cooper got into a bad car accident. Interestingly, his rehabilitation was horseback riding. Gary Cooper then decided
to move to the movie center of the United States, Hollywood. Around this time, Hollywood was in a craze for western movies to revive the United
States' history. Cooper ended up becoming an extra for movies as a horseback rider. The first movie Gary starred in was called The Winning of
Barbara Worth, which was a silent movie. This movie is about two engineers who are fighting to be with Barbara Worth, but she ends up being
captured by a mob. Another conflict in the movie is Barbara Worth's father's dam, which provides water to the desert, is failing. The engineers
decide to put their differences aside, and they restore the dam and save Barbara. The engineers were played by Gary Cooper, who was Abe Lee, and
Ronald Colman, who was Willard Holmes. Barbara Worth was played by Vilma Banky. His first major role in a movie with words was the Virginian,

National Hockey League Case Study
The National Hockey League (NHL) was founded on November 1917 with only five teams. Now, in 2017, the NHL has grown to thirty–one teams and
the NHL Stanley Cup Finals are broadcasted to more than 150 countries and watched in more than 300 million homes. As the league and its and
revenue grew, players began to want union representation in order to negotiate for higher salaries and increased benefits. There was an initial attempt
to unionize in 1957 when Detroit Red Wings Captain Ted Lindsay took action with New York Lawyer Milton Mound. However, it was not until 1967,
under the leadership of Maple Leafs' Bob Pulford, that the National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA) was developed. By 2003, a year

Due to rising tensions between the NHL and NHLPA and a general mistrust felt by players toward the league, the two organizations were unable to
negotiate a new CBA and the NHL 2004–2005 season was cancelled. The issue at hand was to negotiate a new CBA between players and team
owners where both parties were satisfied. Historically, renegotiations were able to be worked out without too much conflict. In 1992, players had been
given full control over the marketing rights to their images while arriving at a compromise of a shorter CBA contract length of 2 years. In the
1994–1995 season, the union agreed to the rookie salary cap, unrestricted free agency system, and modifications to the salary arbitration process.
However, the 2004 renegotiation was different. The league wanted to further cut costs and limit the growth of players' salaries by introducing a salary
cap and linking salary to revenue. These propositions were met with extreme opposition from players who believed that salaries were not the cause of
the league's financial instability. As a result, the survival of the historic NHL, whose revenue exceeded $2 billion, was left to negotiation between Gary

Analytical of Business Tools
The SWOT analyzes shows the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the NHL lockout. The whole point of the SWOT analyze is to
help out a business in fixing their weaknesses and pushing with their strengths. They can turn opportunities into strengths for the organization but
have to be careful about the threats shown. In this case the NHL strengths is that they regained their image by ending the lockout and showed fans
that they have the ability to work out a deal when times got tough. Though this lockout was seen badly to many people, some see it as an
opportunity with rejuvenated fans. Since the lockout lasted for so long many fans were eager to watch hockey so when it finally comes back
tickets sales may be higher because more fans will want to attend. The next business tool that I used was a profit graph during the previous lockout
and the years before the lockout. This will show the NHL what they have to fix coming into the end of this lockout. Since there was a great increase
in the teams that lost money after the 2005 lockout, they will have to somehow get more fans to come whether its from lowering ticket prices or
giving deals to fans so they will come to more games. This chart gives them an overview of how the economy of the NHL was before the previous
lockout

New York Islanders Case Study
Islanders Open Training Camp Under Cloudy Skies
The summer is over. Fall has arrived and with it, the return of the National Hockey League. Training camps around the league will all be opening for

For the New York Islanders, it seems every year lately has been 'make or break', for a variety of reasons. This year, however, the term might never be
more accurate as the team looks to re–sign their franchise captain, finally bring some closure to a long, drawn out arena drama and return to the

As of today, only Casey Bailey, a 6–3, 26–year old wing who spent last year in the Ottawa organization, is coming in on a PTO, presumably for depth
on the Sound Tigers roster.
Defense
What Snow did for Hamonic was admirable, and showed loyalty, first and foremost, to the person rather than the player. But it does leave the Islanders
defense, one that wasn't all that good last year, with more questions than answers. Johnny Boychuk, coming off a rebound season, and Nick Leddy, the
only true transitional threat, are back and that's an excellent start. It's after that it begins to get hazy.

At first Monica was not interested in leading Project Hippocrates, she intended on moving up in the ranks within her company. However, she was
known for intensity and energy when working on a project and figured that she would throw herself at the project and perhaps after one more
high–profile success she could move out of program/project management. Also, Monica believed that the President Gary Dorr wanted her to run the

Ralph Parker had a different way of getting to the end result, and due to that variation and his attitude which was known to be rough, Monica never

asking his opinion during and prior to key decision points. Ralph never liked Monica's style or approach, and did not believe that her outsourcing

ED Kane was taking direction from Ralph and of course fighting for his team's product and his team's voices to be heard. Monica had taken an

go without fighting, without that threat of retribution. It's a fast, violent game where we're wearing weapons on our feet and essentially carrying a
club. So while a two– or five– minute penalty is a bad thing, it's not going to knock somebody off their path of destruction as much as somebody
grabbing them and punching them in the face." Guys in the NHL are literally paid just to go out there and either try to get under the stars of the other
teams skin or just to go fight one of the other players to get the team all hyped up. Not having those guys in the NHL will just be like watching the
World Junior teams play against each other. Or it could turn out to be total mayhem because players know if they hit the super star of the team real
hard they aren't going to have to fight anyone, so the stars of each team will automatically be targeted. The article written by Michael Grange explains
why fighting should be banned from the NHL. George Parros of the Montreal Canadiens, was lying on the ice, unconscious with a hint of his own
blood seeping from his face. After being knocked out in a fight Parros was extremely injured and would not return to that game. There are way too
many injuries due to fighting and it would only worsen if fighting stayed in the league because of how much stronger guys are getting. If fighting was
eliminated from the game we would not have to worry about having as many injuries on the ice, at least not coming from fighting that

How Is The Game Of Liar's Poker Played?
How is the game of liar's poker played? The liar's poker can be played in–group of as small as two or as many as ten, seated in a circle. And the game
is played with eight digit serial numbers on a US dollar bill. Each player has to hold dollar bill close to their chest and unseen by other players. The
goal of the game is to guess how often a specific digit appears among all the bills held by players in a circle. For example, if the first bidder says three
5s, then there is at least three 5s among the player's entire bill including his own. The next player can bid higher number like three 6s, any
numbers of at higher level like four 5s, or the player can decide to challenge (I doubt it). The game proceeds on clockwise around the table until all
the other players decide to challenge one single player's bid. While a challenge is made, each player reveals their serial numbers and they persuade
who is bluffing whom. If a challenge is correct, hence numbers on bills is lower than challenge bid, which mean bidder loses a dollar to each of
the other players. If a challenge was incorrect; therefore, bidder wins a dollar from each of the other players. The game of liar's poker is game of
probabilities, "what is the statistical likelihood of there being three sizes within a batch of, say forty randomly generated serial numbers? (Lewis 6)."
However, math is easy part for the great players, the hard part of the game is reading emotion of the other players. The obstacle of the game

Essay College Athletes Should Be Paid
Should college athletes receive pay for what they do? You've probably seen this pop–up a million times, and thought about it. You've probably figured
why should they? Aren't they already receiving benefits from a full–ride scholarship? But then an athlete will get caught up in a scandal like Johnny
Manziel, where he signed footballs for money.. then you think well why shouldn't he receive that money? And you then contradict yourself. But
shouldn't they receive money from outside sources, and then the benefits from the school. Not get a salary from the school just the benefits they're
already receiving, and money from sponsors. Wouldn't that make sense considering the money they're making the school? According to an ESPN
report Alabama... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not most... but all of these athletes have needs and when interviewed by Denver Post Colorado linebacker Derrick Webb stated "I fight the urge to
call my mother for money at the end of each month", and "And when you're waiting for your next meal you gotta do something". (Henderson 1) On
the other end Morgan Burke , president and spokesman of the Division IA Athletics Directors Association(a group of 351 programs) was quoted as
saying " A full scholarship and direct support services at Purdue has excess value of $250,000." But even though that number looks glamorous it isn't.
(Henderson 1) That money isn't going to the player, that money is going to resources that a player may never use. See what needs to be understood is
the 'full–ride scholarship' line is often very over–exaggerated, and realistically even though it has value it in actuality is not helping the player put food
on the table. Yes it is paying for things they need such as a room, and board. But it's also looking at things like counselling something a player will
likely never use. There are expenses like groceries, clothes, and costs to go back and see family that are not covered and money received from
sponsors, or a photo–shoot could easily help out. Extra money received in college could also be used as a tool to teach athletes to be financially
responsible, if they get extra money and blow it on nothing well when they can't get a meal

Professional Soccer Player Dream Job

  • 1. Professional Soccer Player As A Professional Athlete Player Is there such thing as the dream job? For many, being a professional athlete is like the perfect job. For me, that is too vague. I have done my research, and it is clear to me now what a great job being a professional soccer player is. Soccer players participate in the world's most popular sport, which is soccer (Facts on File). Although, their job isn't always just to play the sport. They must also deal with the media and everything the club they are in asks of them. Being a soccer player can be tough, but it comes with many perks and benefits. In addition, little education is required, but lots of skill and characteristics are needed. Professional soccer players might live the dream lives of many. They play a very fun sport and get paid to do so. Although, it may come with a lot of stress if they do not manage it correctly. A lot is expected from these players week in and week out. Not only do they have to work on the pitch, but also with sponsors and the press. In addition, this career is not a lifelong career, so it is crucial to be prepared for when you retire. One of the greatest parts of being a soccer player is the high salary you will receive (Facts on File). Since being a professional athlete does not require much study, a high school diploma is good enough to become a soccer player (Facts on File). Yet, training for the sport is still needed, and can be expensive before becoming a pro. Soccer players normally show interest in the sport since their youth. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Soccer : The Effect Of Concussions In Soccer The whistle blows. An injured soccer player is lying on the field holding her head. Whispers of the word "concussion" fill the stands, and finally when the young girl stands, the crowd claps as she walks off the field, knowing she will be out for the rest of the season. Unfortunately, this scenario happens all too often on a soccer field. Soccer is a fairly aggressive sport that has been the cause to many concussions over the years. Even though some people think that wearing headgear will help prevent concussions during a soccer game, soccer players should not have to wear headgear since there is no proof that it prevents concussions because players need to follow player protocol, heading the ball does not cause concussions, and soccer is known to be a physical sport. People often argue that concussions in soccer are caused by heading the ball. For example, concussion headbands were made for players to wear during soccer games to help protect them from getting concussions (Clarey). One cannot deny that concussion headbands may help reduce the impact from the ball (Clarey). According to Soccer Headgear: Does It Do Any Good? by Jere Longman, "Headgear could reduce impact forces by 10 to 30 percent" (Longman). Supposedly, players will wear concussion headgear to help reduce concussions. The headgear will help reduce some of the force from the ball when the player's head makes contact with the ball (Longman). Not only will wearing headgear during the game help prevent concussions, but also the age at which kids can head the ball with help prevent them too. A new rule states soccer players 10 and under cannot head the ball in games or practice. Based on new rules from the U.S. Soccer and the American Youth Soccer Organization, "Children 10 years or under will no longer be allowed to head the ball in practice or games, while players ages 11 to 13 will only be allowed to do it during practice and not games" (Storrs). Having young players start heading the ball later in life will ensure that they are learning how to head the ball correctly and accurately. Heading the ball at a young age will put the young players at a higher risk to get a concussion because they most likely are doing it wrong. However, wearing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However what most people fail to realize are how mass media manipulation negatively affects African American athletes on all levels. When dissecting this situation there are several key things to understand. America is a country that was born out of racism and is still being controlled to this day by racism. So naturally every institution that is run by racist such as the NBA, NCAA, NFL, the Supreme Court, major banking companies or the media. Within every racist institution there is a natural plan built in for blacks to fail. Physical matureness by and large cause a normal growth in strength, quickness, and size which are significant traits for sport success but the only thing youth sports reveal to us is that some players are maturing more rapidly than others. At the youth level being bigger, stronger, and faster are typically all that is required to stand out in a group of less prepared underdeveloped athletes. But it is not a pure marker in terms of who is really the most gifted At more mature ages skill and accomplishments are closely related, but at the young sport level such a relationship is untimely since achievement gains are dependent on more than just changing physical attributes. Victory in youth sport is comparative to whoever is on the team or field; therefore accomplished adolescents are distinguished in relation to others they are competing with and not against some universal test. Few of these players may be more accomplished between their Slower maturing mates but it doesn 't maintain that they are also more gifted. In any event, we have an inclination to glorify a youthful competitor 's ability by naming him as super talented when the pure argument is that he 's really just maturing faster then his peers. • 8. Keeping an Optimistic Attitude in Life Essay Keeping an Optimistic Attitude in Life Optimistic and pessimistic attitudes constantly affect the outcome of people's lives. In my life, I try to keep an optimistic attitude about the things I do because I know it will help lead me to more desirable ends. There have been many situations in which optimism has helped me through difficult times. Two areas in particular have provided me optimistic experiences: athleticsand academics. First, optimism was very apparent while I was the co–captain of my high school soccer team. I was captain during my senior year, perhaps the year we had the best team since I had begun playing in eighth grade. Right from the start of the season I had to show leadership and bring improvement in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most challenging times for me were those when we would be losing and all the players would get angry with one another. This was especially apparent when one of the defenders on our team would make a mistake and allow the other team to score. Many players would then yell at him creating a negative attitude both toward themselves and the player. At that time, even though I was actually angry myself, I would both stop the other players from yelling and offer encouragement to the one who had made the mistake. For the most part, I would simply offer some advice by pointing out what he had done wrong and told him how to do it right the next time. Thereby, I would always keep a very positive attitude and told the players that they were doing well, but they just had to do it better next time. I know that the way I approached the problem helped maintain a positive attitude among all the players. This approach led to the team playing better and winning more. Another application in which an optimistic attitude has proven to be very beneficial has been in academics. Notably, there have been classes in which assignments were difficult for me and led to less than sufficient grades. Even though I was disappointed with my poor performance, I always stayed optimistic about bringing the grades back up. The one time that stood out among ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Leadership Roles of Team Captains Team Sports Captains: Effective Leadership Roles Captains of sports teams are given the stereotype that they are the most athletic player on the team, scoring the most goals and handling the ball best. In truth, captains have a lot of work they have to do that doesn't even involve playing the sport. Captains are the most looked at player of the game; other players, younger kids and coaches look to them to set examples. They have to set examples in every aspect of the game; athleticism might be part of their job but it is not limited to it. Captains might also be popular within the community and have people coming and talking to them who they do not know. They must have the patience and ability to withhold a conversation with them without looking rushed or uncomfortable. Captains have a lot sitting on their shoulders and he or she must be able to sort through it all and find the right solution or answer they are looking for. On top of all the pressure the captains are receiving, they must always have confidence in his or her emotional stability. Captains always must always keep their cool, there should never be an instant where a captain flies off the handle and loses it. He or she should be the one that calms the rest of the team down to ensure that mouthing off or violence never occurs. Captains know that players are there to play a sport not to fight and the captains from each team have to work together to keep the game under control (Krayeske, 1974). This question has been debated for years and will continue to be for many years to come. It's quite hard to tell them they are in the wrong considering the major's are what every golfer dreams of winning and are without a doubt the most hard to come by. He currently has seventy–nine wins with many years left to add to that number, whereas Jack retired with only seventy–three. He also trumped Nicklaus with his 142 consecutive cuts made, a streak that lasted more than seven years. Nicklaus' best was 105, which sits third on the all time list. However, if being great is more about dominating their opposition rather than just compiling numbers, then again Tiger comes out on top. Tiger has a record setting ten seasons on the PGA Tourin which he won five or more tournaments. Jack sits in third once again with a total of seven. With this being said, it's no surprise Woods has also comprised the most money titles on tour along with the most player of the year awards. Not to mention he has as claimed the most Vardon trophies for the best scoring average on tour. No one can argue the fact that Tiger has been the game's undisputed best player more times than Nicklaus. According to Casebook in Is Football Too Dangerous, Several NFL players have committed suicide over the last few years, and medical evidence suggests that brain damage–the consequence of years of violent on–field collisions and concussions. This evidence shows that multiple blows to the head have caused CTE in former NFL players that have played a role in their deaths. How many more deaths are going to happen to former players before the NFL make the current rules stricter? The NFL can make the current players safer for their futures outside of football. The evidence is there to show why the NFL needs to make stricter rules. According to Daniel Flynn, the NFL has made vast improvements in safety to prevent concussions. The NFL has implemented a stricter concussion protocol. The NFL concussion protocol watches for players on the field to have any contact to the head, and show symptoms of a concussion. The player that shows symptoms will be pulled off the field and evaluated by a team physician and an independent neurologist. • 14. Excessive Survivalism Is A Sport Excessive survivalism is a sport in when athletes are obsessed with winning and will do anything to achieve that goal of winning. Players will find ways to bend the rules or cheat just to achieve the victory over their opponent. The need to win games will overrule the player's morals and beliefs as a person. This is a huge problem athletes face when it comes to sports. They become so obsessed with winning that it becomes the only objective they focus on. Some athletes even put their health at risk. In some cases athletes will sustain an injury and will not let the team know so they can take the proper protocol just so they can they can stay in the game. In other cases, a player may do something that is considered dirty or against the rules just to get the edge over their opponent, and that might not be how the player is as a person outside of their sport but when it comes to the game they will do anything they need to do survive and win. Runaway individualism in sports is when a player is all about their self. Players that tend to have runaway individualism are the ones who are only worried about their own success instead of team success. These players do not look at their team as a family, they see their teammates as individuals who they just have to share the field or court with. These players usually do not have a stable home, they bounce around from team to team because they are labeled as selfish players. A perfect example of runaway individualism is when ... Despite its duration in the league, do these fights have negative consequences as well? Lately, there has been great controversy over whether or not to continue to allow fighting in the league. The N.H.L. hasn't declared any rule against fighting, but rather, has created a set of rules to outline the penalties and define the responsibilities of fights (National Hockey League: Official Rules 2014–2015). • 29. The Season Of The Nhl Hockey Season The entire 2004–2005 NHL Hockey season was on ice, cancelled due to a lockout announced by Commissioner Gary Bettman because the players union would not accept any proposal that included a salary cap during contract negotiations. Could the cancelled season have been prevented? Would there be an agreement for the 2005–2006 NHL season and beyond? If both sides in the negotiations could not reach an agreement and salvage the season, how must the two parties overcome the barriers (Trotschel, Loschelder, Huffmeier, Schwartz, & Gollwitzer, 2011) to end the lockout? A thorough analysis of the terms, barriers and powers delineated throughout the negotiation process will show that a more effective negotiation process would have prevented the cancellation of the 2004–2005 NHL Hockey season. On September 15, 2004, Gary Bettman, representing the interests of the league and team owners, announced that the NHL players were being locked out from participating in the upcoming hockey season (Malhotra & Hout, 2006). Gary Bettman was authorized and empowered by the team owners to declare such a decision in the event the two parties could not come to a contract agreement during negotiations. Bob Goodenow, executive director of the players union, led negotiations on behalf of the players. Though many issues were addressed in negotiations, the primary issue was over salary cap. The owners insisted on a cap on salaries and the players refused to accept any agreement that included a cap. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The American Film Institute lists Forrest Gump as one of the greatest American films of all time. Released in 1994 by Paramount Pictures, Forrest Gump tells the story of a Southern, mentally challenged man named Forrest Gump who experiences many tribulations in his life, such as having a low IQ of 75 and wearing braces on his leg as a child. Throughout the plot of the film, Forrest adheres to a signature phrase coined by his mother, "Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get." His willingness allows him to participate in some of the most iconic American events in the 1960s and 1970s. Throughout the film, Forrest serves in the Vietnam War, masters table tennis, met erstwhile presidents, opens a shrimp business, and even journeys across the country. Above everything else, the character played by Tom Hanks wants to marry his childhood sweetheart, Jenny Curran, who he always cared about. With a budget of $55 million, the lighthearted comedy–drama's use of special effects paid off as the Academy Award –winning film remains one of the most iconic American films in history. Now, in 2017, the NHL has grown to thirty–one teams and the NHL Stanley Cup Finals are broadcasted to more than 150 countries and watched in more than 300 million homes. As the league and its and revenue grew, players began to want union representation in order to negotiate for higher salaries and increased benefits. There was an initial attempt to unionize in 1957 when Detroit Red Wings Captain Ted Lindsay took action with New York Lawyer Milton Mound. However, it was not until 1967, under the leadership of Maple Leafs' Bob Pulford, that the National Hockey League Players Association (NHLPA) was developed. Due to rising tensions between the NHL and NHLPA and a general mistrust felt by players toward the league, the two organizations were unable to negotiate a new CBA and the NHL 2004–2005 season was cancelled. The issue at hand was to negotiate a new CBA between players and team owners where both parties were satisfied. Historically, renegotiations were able to be worked out without too much conflict. In 1992, players had been given full control over the marketing rights to their images while arriving at a compromise of a shorter CBA contract length of 2 years. In the 1994–1995 season, the union agreed to the rookie salary cap, unrestricted free agency system, and modifications to the salary arbitration process. However, the 2004 renegotiation was different. The league wanted to further cut costs and limit the growth of players' salaries by introducing a salary cap and linking salary to revenue. These propositions were met with extreme opposition from players who believed that salaries were not the cause of the league's financial instability. As a result, the survival of the historic NHL, whose revenue exceeded $2 billion, was left to negotiation between Gary Bettman, commissioner of the NHL, and Bob Goodenow, the executive director of the ... The whole point of the SWOT analyze is to help out a business in fixing their weaknesses and pushing with their strengths. They can turn opportunities into strengths for the organization but have to be careful about the threats shown. In this case the NHL strengths is that they regained their image by ending the lockout and showed fans that they have the ability to work out a deal when times got tough. Though this lockout was seen badly to many people, some see it as an opportunity with rejuvenated fans. Since the lockout lasted for so long many fans were eager to watch hockey so when it finally comes back tickets sales may be higher because more fans will want to attend. The next business tool that I used was a profit graph during the previous lockout and the years before the lockout. This will show the NHL what they have to fix coming into the end of this lockout. Since there was a great increase in the teams that lost money after the 2005 lockout, they will have to somehow get more fans to come whether its from lowering ticket prices or giving deals to fans so they will come to more games. Both are true to an extent but there is only one that is going to make the mind up of Gary Bettman, commissioner of the NHL. There are two really great articles that support both sides of this controversy, the first one supporting fighting should be allowed to stay in the NHL is from "The Hockey News" called "Fighting in the NHL: Should it stay or go?" The second article that is being used to support fighting should be banned from the NHL is from "Sportsnet" called "Grange: It's time to ban fighting in the NHL."... So while a two– or five– minute penalty is a bad thing, it's not going to knock somebody off their path of destruction as much as somebody grabbing them and punching them in the face." Guys in the NHL are literally paid just to go out there and either try to get under the stars of the other teams skin or just to go fight one of the other players to get the team all hyped up. Not having those guys in the NHL will just be like watching the World Junior teams play against each other. George Parros of the Montreal Canadiens, was lying on the ice, unconscious with a hint of his own blood seeping from his face. After being knocked out in a fight Parros was extremely injured and would not return to that game. And the game is played with eight digit serial numbers on a US dollar bill. Each player has to hold dollar bill close to their chest and unseen by other players. The goal of the game is to guess how often a specific digit appears among all the bills held by players in a circle. For example, if the first bidder says three 5s, then there is at least three 5s among the player's entire bill including his own. The next player can bid higher number like three 6s, any numbers of at higher level like four 5s, or the player can decide to challenge (I doubt it). The game proceeds on clockwise around the table until all the other players decide to challenge one single player's bid. While a challenge is made, each player reveals their serial numbers and they persuade who is bluffing whom. If a challenge is correct, hence numbers on bills is lower than challenge bid, which mean bidder loses a dollar to each of the other players. If a challenge was incorrect; therefore, bidder wins a dollar from each of the other players. The game of liar's poker is game of probabilities, "what is the statistical likelihood of there being three sizes within a batch of, say forty randomly generated serial numbers? (Lewis 6)."
