Disadvantages Of E Commerce
Bloomberg shows that "Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.'s 2017 Singles' Day generated a record 168.2 billion yuan ($25.3 billion) in sales" which involved
"at least 225 countries and regions."
Electronic commerce, commonly known as e–commerce, refers to "buying and selling processes that make use of electronic technology" (Ebert, 274).
With the development of technology, e–commerce becomes increasingly popular and affects traditional retail sales negatively. More and more people
would like to buy and sell goods and services through internet. The statistic from Adobe Systems Inc., in 2017 "e–commerce sales are up about 17
percent," conversely, "the number of people visiting U.S. stores on Thanksgiving and Black Friday fell 4 percent from last year" (Nassauer and
Stevens). By considering this percentage, e–commerce has more competitive advantages than the traditional retail industry as it provides customers a
more efficient and cheaper way to shop, increases businesses profits by reducing total company expenses, and leads to domestic economic stability and
growth.
Customers prefer shopping online as internet retail could save their money and time. Although physical store provides deals and coupons, usually
online shopping gives a much higher discount rate. For instance, according to the Adobe Digital Index, "the cost of televisions bought online dropped
20.3% over the course of a year, however, the cost of televisions bought in–store falling just 15% during that time"

On 6/10/09 San Francisco, CA the leader in online Customer Experience Management software (CEM), announces the results of the 5th annual
survey of online consumer behavior, commissioned by Tealeaf and conducted by Harris Interactives. The survey concludes that 48% of U.S. adults
are now conducting more online transactions than they did in the past given the current economic climate. However, 80% of adults who have
conducted an online transaction in the past year experience problems when doing so in 2009. Previously it was around 87%. This improvement
over prior years is the result of a better focus on delivering perfect experiences to online customer. Although, this reported decline in online
transactions issues is good news, online customer experience is still very much a work in progress. The percentage of consumers that are affected by
issues can be specified such as error messages (38%), endless loops (19%) and login problems (28%) are still extremely high.
Bikramjit Rishi in their study on online shopping finds it a very innovative option for the marketers in addition to the already existing distribution
channels. It is innovative and creative because marketers can experiment with it in the form of content, visibility and availability. In India online
shopping is considered as a relevant and meaningful alternative channel for retailing and also it is now an important part of the

Literature Review On Online Shoppers
LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1Conceptual Review
Many studies have attempted to study the characteristics of online users and shoppers around the globe. As per studies done by Technowledge Asia
in 1999 and 2000, cybershoppers in some Asian regions were observed to be primarily males, in the age range of 26 to 35 years and better educated.
This is not altogether different from that found by Donthu and Garcia (1999) who concluded that online shoppers in USA were "mainly males with
above–average education, income, and occupation".
Many reasons were given for people buying online. In a study conducted by Darian (1987) on in–home shoppers, he found that there were five types of
convenience that in–home shoppers were after:

McKnight et al. (2002:335) identify "multiple, interrelated dimensions of e–commerce trust" that inform consumer behavior and trust building and
describes trust as "the willingness to depend on a vendor to deliver on commitments; as a belief that the vendor uses consumer data ethically; or a
perception that the Internet is technologically secure". It is therefore, possible to have trust based on one or more dimensions but not necessarily all to
engage in online shopping. Tan and Thoen (2000) identify two (2) main elements of trust in online shopping as trust in the vendors and trust in the
technological infrastructure (the Internet), which are evident from the above definitions. However, Pavlou (2003:107) argues that web retailers have a
significant role to play in encouraging trust in the infrastructure by creating safe and secure online shopping environments. This implies that
consumers‟ trust in the Internet can be influenced by perceptions of the vendors. Therefore for the purpose of this study, emphasis will be placed on
consumers‟ trust in online vendors rather than trust in the infrastructure. This study argues that since online vendors are the consumers‟ main
focus when transacting online, trust is built based on perceptions of the

Amazon.com: An E–Commerce Retailer
I. INTRODUCTION
Selling nothing but books is how Amazon.com started its business in 1995, now is acknowledged as the leading online retailer in the world. In

the customer". (Collins, Mockler, & Gartenfeld, 2003, p. 5). By charging monthly management fees and commissions on completed purchases,
Amazon.com developed a steady revenue stream without incurring much expense. (Collins, Mockler, & Gartenfeld, 2003, p. 6). This type of
operations was the cornerstone for Amazon, and can be rated as "stars" for generating the most operating profit.
3. Marketing – "In order to be the most complete retailer possible, Amazon.com realized that it needed to expand beyond offering its own products
for sale. The best way to accomplish this was to use the Amazon.com selling platform as a basis to offer additional goods and services for sale".
(Collins, Mockler, & Gartenfeld, 2003, p. 5). Amazon.com partnered with retailers and invested in other online retailers, offered the zShops program to
small and medium–sized businesses as an e–commerce platform. In early 1999, Amazon.com decided to invest in other online companies that could
profit from selling their products thru the website. "To help pay for these investments, Amazon.com used its high stock prices to purchase ownership

Online Shopping And Traditional Shopping
Shopping can be enjoyable for some people; however, it can also be a burden for others. The preference of the shopper really determines whether or
not they have a pleasant experience and the time to look for their items. There are many similarities as well as differences with online shopping and
traditional shopping. The main factors that I will be discussing are convenience, discounts and item availability.
Convenience is really a significant factor with both types of shopping. As of the 2011 Time Survey, the average American spends about 43.2 minutes
per day shopping, which is down from 48.6 minutes per day in 2003. (Hines, 2012) Online shopping is convenient for purchasing items at the click of
the mouse. Although online empires, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both shopping methods offer convenience in different ways that is solely at the preference of the individual consumer.
Discounts are offered by both online and traditional shopping. Cyber Monday is vastly becoming as popular as Black Friday, and for some, more
popular. The world of retail has certainly raised their game with regard to discounts and sales on merchandise, both online and traditional, to attract
customers. Retail centers will offer discounts to a certain number of customers first to arrive. Many online sellers will offer free shipping in addition
to sales and discounts to compete. A consumer can save a considerable amount of money by researching an item they want to purchase to obtain the
best deal. In addition, online sellers feature lower prices because they do not have the overhead costs such as rent, utilities and sales people. In
comparison, retail centers will slash prices to compete against online retailers. Another savings with online shopping is that a consumer might not have
to pay sales tax based on their residency. (Torres, 2017) Coupons and gift cards can be applied with either method of shopping allowing further
discounts off regular priced items.
Item availability is significant for online shopping. There is no shortage of shelf space when you shop online. Another factor to consider is when a
consumer is looking for an old or unique item, they can just google it and purchase it. As such, a consumer spends less time

introduce you to a lesser known online marketplace known as "Etsy." C.As a consumer, I prefer to shop online for goods. Transition: Our professor
asked us to speak today on the subject of Etsy, the rising e–commerce marketplace that focuses on handcrafted goods. We will discuss the convenience
of e–commerce, the diverse array of products available, and the revitalization of capitalism in the home. II.BODY A.First, let's talk about the

Transition: Now that we've touched on product selection, let's advance into how Etsy helps regular people supplement their income. C.The final point
I want to touch on is how Etsy enables regular people to augment their income with their hobbies. 1. Tasks that were once done for repairing or for
relaxation are now profitable. 2. Selling homemade items empowers an individual. 3. Some more successful shops fully replace an individual's
previous occupation. Transition: The three major points we have discussed demonstrate what makes Etsy successful as an e–commerce marketplace.
Let's review them again. III.CONCLUSION A.Etsy is successful as an e–commerce marketplace because of these three things: (1) convenience it
offers buyers and sellers; (2) the wide array of products available; and (3) it allows regular people to supplement their income with their skills.
B.Both buyers and sellers benefit from the Etsy platform. An easy to use interface, coupled with product diversity, along with a strong, supportive user
base provide 3 of the necessary ingredients for a successful e–commerce

Advantage Of Online Shopping
Online shopping can be more convenient for customers in that: it saves them time.it saves them money, and they have access to a great variety of
products. Online shopping brings the shopping to wherever the customer is. There is no need to go out to a physical store, shopping can be done at
work, school, and even in the bathroom. This saves customers time by giving them access to the purchase of goods and services when they need it. It
is typical for a consumer to have a need for a good or service and forget about it if they can't seek what they need in a timely manner, which prolongs
their need and takes up time. With the convenience of buying anywhere, consumers don't have to spend gas to go to a physical location. Also,
customers go from one store to the other in search of lower prices, with online shopping a customer can view multiple price offerings without having to
move and in a matter of minutes. This being said the customer has access to an immense array of products. Different brands and price points are
available for comparison without having to move, which makes shopping a breeze.

Objective
The objective of the research is to identify critical factors which affect online shopping experience the most.
Literature review
According to Tauber (1972), experiences are an important part of consuming and shopping. Shoppers are not always simply looking to buy products,
but also want to get pleasure from the shopping activity. This experience is affected by the customer's shopping goals, what they expect, and what their
motivations are (Demangeot & Broderick, 2006).
Motivation for shopping online is an important factor to consider when analysing the shopping experience (Swatman & Chin, 2004). Holbrook and
Hirschman (1982) established that it is highly important to create hedonic significance through good experiences in order to toughen up the
relationships with consumers. Customer experience involves engaging several of the customer's aptitudes to satisfy and create value while he interacts
with the organisation, its products and its other customers. Similarly, an online retailer's role is to establish an appropriate environment to help
customers in gaining a positive experience while shopping online (Pentina et al., 2011). When people shop online, they are not only consumers but also
users of the computer (Demangeot & Broderick,

Expanding into E–Commerce
Off the Boardwalk and into the World Wide Web:
A Four Point Analysis
1) The purpose of this section if to provide a SWOT analysis for a small, local clothing store on the New Jersey Boardwalk looking to transition into
the online market place. Any boutique clothing store like the one provided has many strengths. The company's unique style helps differentiate it from
its competitors. In addition, the company is small and flexible which enables it to employ different talents, ranging from domestic to international, to
meet their project needs (Pinker, 2002). Of course, any such company has its weaknesses. The company is a local clothing store which means it is
dependent on its manufacturers and variations in material and labor costs of third parties producers. Another problem that any small clothing store
faces is coming up with new innovative ideas that fit to mass customization for their customers (Alexander, et al., 2003). Any small, local company
looking to expand into the online market place also has numerous opportunities. Their business currently comes from customers walking up and down
the boardwalk which has a limited season. By expanding to the internet, they will dramatically increase the number of customers exposed to their
merchandize on a global scale. Mass production by the company will allow customers to get what they want but dilute their individual uniqueness
(Pinker, 2002). Lastly, by orienting their sales to the online

Online Shopping Is More Effective Than Conventional Shopping
"Being busy with work, and as a mom, I 'm a big fan of online shopping" – Kirsty Gallacher
Online shopping had gone into business as early as 1992. The number of people that used online shopping had gone up when people started to gain
ownership of personal computers. In 2007, 875 million people had at least made one online purchase that year. It continued to grow after that it had
been recorded that 9 percent of the United States had been purchasing items online. With the creation of the World Wide Web and a browser sites like
Amazon and Ebay had started to come into play. Most of the earliest shoppers were males who know some things about computers and the way they
worked, while time passed by in 2001 studies showed that 52 percent of online shoppers were women. Online shopping is a way that retailers could
advertise their products and increase sales. Improving the way that we shop today and making it easier for the people. Online shopping is more effective
than conventional shopping because it save consumers time, saves consumers energy and consumers would not be as pressured to purchase items.

An Evaluation of the Factors Affecting the Online Shopping...
Abstract
Online shopping has grown rapidly in China over the last decade, yet there are only a few studies in Chinese context. This research focuses on B2C
(Business to Customer) and C2C (Customer to Customer) to identify the factors that affect online shopping intention of consumers in both positive and
negative aspects. However, there are some differences exist that influence online shopping intention among different countries. As a result, this essay
evaluates the determinants of online shopping intention of Chinese consumers by comparing consumers in other countries, which will give an insight
for online sellers to develop more competitive strategies in China.

To allow the reader to better understand the factors affecting online shopping intention in China, this section will offer academic research reviews
regarding this subject, including different theories, influential factors, and concerns relating to cultural differences.
Since online shopping has become more popular, it has attracted widespread attention. Different models and theories have been adopted by many
researchers to identify and examine the factors affecting online shopping intention or behaviours. "The Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), the
Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB)" have been frequently used (So, et al., 2005, pp.1226
–1228). Chiu,
Chang, Cheng and Fang (2009, p.761) extended TAM "by introducing e–service quality dimensions, trust and enjoyment in the development of a
theoretical model to study customers' repurchase intentions of online shopping". Similarly, Liao and Shi (2009, p.25) conducted the related research
which is also based on the TAM framework, but combined it with "environmental and social constructs to elucidate consumers' attitude and behavioural
intention to use e–retailing".
A number of studies have extensively discussed the factors influencing online shopping intention over many years. "Convenience, price savings,
extensive information, enjoyment, and broad product selection are considered as major benefits of

How Technology Has Changed Us Businesses
Technologies have changed a lot in last some years. It has revolutionized the way businesses are conducted now be it electronic marketing or the way
supply chain management is conducted now or online retailing and marketing. Online retailing is wider or newer form of retailing. So we can define
it as 'sale of goods and services using through Internet. 'It can be said as B2C business model where business sells goods to final customers through
Internet.

пїјTHE POTENTIAL FOR THE STRATEGIC USE OF ONLINE RETAIL
Retailers are incessantly seeking latest paths to grow. Since most of the developed markets have become saturated, expanding into the developing
markets is now a prevalent way of getting new strengthening targets. But this expansion is convoluted because it involves diverse range of factors. As
a result, building an online presence is a low–risky way to test new markets or complement existing store footprints. There are a variety of growth
strategies that are used for e–retail expansions. Some of them are grassroots website (e.g.: Rivalfish.com), acquisitions of smaller online retailers and
expansion of international shipping capabilities. (ATKearney, 2014) For example, French luxury retailer Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH)
acquired Brazils leading online beauty retailer, Sack, to develop local recognition of its Sephora cosmetics line. (ATKearney, 2012) Through this way
LVMH was able to collect the required information without entering into any real estate contracts.
пїјOnline shopping is changing how the retailers advance their global expansion strategies. A.T. Kearney's E–Commerce Index reveals which
developing markets hold the most potential for online growth. (ATKearney, 2014) E–Commerce Index (the first in the series) examined the top 30
countries from 2012 GRDI1 and ranked 10 countries on the basis of their e–commerce potential (shown in figure below).

services over the internet that are located in different parts of the world. Online shopping can be accessed from a variety of different devices now not
only via computers which are stood in one place but consumers can access online shopping now from smart phone devices. Due to the advance in
new technologies web shopping is still growing not only with the UK, also in other developed European countries; "Sales in the UK, Germany, France,
Sweden, The Netherlands, Italy, Poland and Spain are expected to grow from £132.05 bn [€156.28 bn] in 2014 to £156.67 bn [(€185.39 bn] in
2015 (+18.4%), reaching £185.44 bn (€219.44 bn) in 2016." (http://www.retailresearch.org/onlineretailing.php). The rapid growth in the online retail
has created a vibrant market space which holds strong competition with all other shopping habits. It is obvious that online shopping is growing as more
and more consumers are turning to the internet to purchase products and services, the question is what drives consumers to turn to the internet over the

Online Shopping Is More Effective Than Conventional Shopping
(ARTICLE AND PARAGRAPH NUMBER)
"Being busy with work, and as a mom, I 'm a big fan of online shopping" – Kirsty Gallacher
Online shopping had gone into business as early as 1992. The number of people that used online shopping had gone up when people started to gain
ownership of personal computers. In 2007, 875 million people had at least made one online purchase that year. It continued to grow after that it had
been recorded that 9 percent of the United States had been purchasing items online. With the creation of the World Wide Web and a browser sites like
Amazon and Ebay had started to come into play. Most of the earliest shoppers were males who know some things about computers and the way they
worked, while time passed by in 2001 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Online shopping is going to be more effective than conventional shopping because it saves consumers money. Clark Wendel from Cesi Solutions
proposes that shopping online helps the consumer save money and how one can avoid spending more money than they're supposed to "Shopping online
helps you maintain your budget: Brick–and–mortar stores are laced with deception and hidden gimmicks to entice you to spend money. Stores are
commonly laid out with expensive products placed at eye level so you're more likely to notice them. Look at the lower and higher shelves–you'll often
see the lower–cost items there. According to TIME, retailers often draw you in with enticing scents and offer you free samples and food to cloud
your judgment and to keep you in the store longer. You avoid all the drama and save money when you shop online. You don't have to worry about
being tricked into busting your budget by buying something that wasn't on your shopping list." This is important because when shopping online
you are able to still save money because you are not in that "trap" of being shown the most expensive and nicer looking items so you're more
convinced to buy it, when online shopping you just look for the items you need and don't need to be distracted. This helps a lot to keep you on a
more of a budget so you don't end up going past your budget and not having any money left to waste on yourself. This quote proves you will be
saving money because we won 't be as tempted to buy

Target is a retail company that offers a variety of products both online and at their stores. Due to their low prices and easy online website navigation,
I gave their website a 4 out of 5; however, their lack of having a flat no fee shipping rate on all purchases are among one of the cons for this website.
PROS:
The website is very user–friendly and has a wide range of categories that the consumer can choose when looking for a product. They tend to group
categories that go well together which makes the online experience much better for the consumer.
Also, I like the fact that you can click on a product and easily find its identification number (DPCI number), so that a sales associate at the store can

end of the day, we realize that we have spent time and collected memories while shopping offline. Those moments give you pleasure whenever you

A List Of The Best Shopping Cart Software For E Commerce...
There are various types of e–commerce software, hosted, licensed, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). The size of the e–commerce business is
the best indicator of which ecommerce software type is the best fit. ERP is intended for large businesses, licensed (hosted by your own business
server) is geared toward medium sized ecommerce shops, and hosted (where the software is hosted by the developer), is recommended for very small
or small businesses. I turned to Jasmine A.'s article "A list of the Best Shopping Cart Software for E–Commerce Websites" for details on each
ecommerce software option. Based on Jasmine's article I learned immediately that we could eliminate the hosted solution from the mix as Godiva.com
is not a small shop, and hosted solutions do not integrate well with other software. Additionally, the Godiva site requires customization of the shopping
cart's source code, which is not possible with the hosted option, and lastly, Godiva has more than five product types sold on the site. In considering the
licensed option, although you have control over the software and you are able to customize to a point, Rachel Andrew of Smashing Magazine.com
reminds us that many open–source licensed options force you to use their templates, additionally, they may force you to turn–on JavaScript in order for
the shopping cart to function properly. If you are able to update the script, when the licensed software is upgraded by the system, it may overwrite your
changes.

Although people can buy products with a really low price on Taobao, no one can guarantee the product to be real, and that's the biggest problem for

customers to supervise the online store.
For the legality of online shopping websites, Chinese people usually shop on Taobao so that they don't get cheated on the fake websites, and this
makes Taobao a gigantic flatform and it's like a monopoly. People shop on Taobao and the stores get franchised to put their products on Taobao.

Ecommerce: Shopping Cart
E–Commerce: Shopping Cart
Wendell B. Taylor
Grantham University
Electronic Commerce
April 3, 2012
A shopping cart is a piece of software that acts as an online store 's catalog and ordering process. Typically, a shopping cart is the interface between a
company 's website and its deeper infrastructure. Contrary to popular belief among merchants, an online shopping cart does not process credit card
payments (Parker, 2010). Instead, shopping cart software serves three other main purposes. First, it allows merchants to setup and manage online sales
processes such as adding products, inventory management, order fulfillment and customer data collection (Parker, 2010). Second, it acts as the

same office, difference offices, home offices, etc.) (Early Impact, 2012). 3) Live changes. In most cases, updating a store using online shopping cart
software means that any change to make to the product catalog or other store settings are immediately live (Early Impact, 2012). You don 't need to
remember to "publish" the changes to apply them to the storefront (Early Impact, 2012). This speeds up the process, but also means that you have to be
extra careful when making changes. If you use an offline shopping cart, then typically changes are not applied to the storefront unless you "publish"
them (Early Impact, 2012).
Some obvious disadvantages of the web merchants that we all are aware of: consumers are at higher risk of fraud on the part of the merchant than
in a physical store. Merchants also risk fraudulent purchases using stolen credit cards or fraudulent repudiation of the online purchase. The lack of
full disclosure with regards to the total cost of purchase is another one of the concerns of online shopping. While it may be easy to compare the base
price of an item online, it may not be easy to see the total cost up front as additional fees such as shipping are often not be visible until the final step
in the checkout process. Privacy of personal information is a significant issue for some consumers. Normally, a customer can only view pictures and or
descriptions of the item

Analyzing The Risks That The Online Customers Go Through...
Research Paper Review
Introduction:
Even with a considerable amount of online shoppers, online shopping is considered to be risky and confusing for many. The increased percentage in
abandonment of online transactions continues to be a concern. The main objective of this research paper is to analyze the risks that the online
customers go through online shopping and how they depend on the category of the product. Basically, the product category is differentiated to be two
kinds of products– digital and non–digital. Based on previous researches, different researchers consider the perceived risks to be either unidimensional
or multifaceted. In this paper, the multifaceted perceived risks [Bauer 1960] are considered.
Perceived risk:
"Perceived risk is defined as the degree to which a person expresses uncertainty about a service or good and particularly, the consequence [Bauer
1960]". In this research paper, the author considered the three dimensions of perceived risks – Product risk or Performance risk, Financial risk and
Privacy risk.
Product risk and privacy risk have been shown to have a high negative impact on online shopping. In a market research, it's been shown that 75% of
online shoppers are concerned about giving their personal and credit card information which comes under privacy risk. This study focuses on how the
perceived risks influence two main categories of products– Digital and Non– digital products; Digital products being all the products that can be

The Internet And Its Impact On The World Of Commerce

Imagine a world where every time someone wanted to buy or sell a product their only option was to travel to a store. Today, shopping on the internet
is commonplace, but less than 20 years ago companies would hire technicians to teach them how to use the scroll bar and other simple functions. Once
enough people knew how to use the internet, the idea of selling products online came into fruition. Many people believed they could make a large sum
of money quickly by starting a business online. Before this time the internet was too complicated to use for most people. Online shopping and retail
have revolutionized shopping and has promoted economic growth, made it easier to buy and sell, and has created a new type of danger.

Disadvantages Of E Commerce

  • 1. Disadvantages Of E Commerce Bloomberg shows that "Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.'s 2017 Singles' Day generated a record 168.2 billion yuan ($25.3 billion) in sales" which involved "at least 225 countries and regions." Electronic commerce, commonly known as e–commerce, refers to "buying and selling processes that make use of electronic technology" (Ebert, 274). With the development of technology, e–commerce becomes increasingly popular and affects traditional retail sales negatively. More and more people would like to buy and sell goods and services through internet. The statistic from Adobe Systems Inc., in 2017 "e–commerce sales are up about 17 percent," conversely, "the number of people visiting U.S. stores on Thanksgiving and Black Friday fell 4 percent from last year" (Nassauer and Stevens). By considering this percentage, e–commerce has more competitive advantages than the traditional retail industry as it provides customers a more efficient and cheaper way to shop, increases businesses profits by reducing total company expenses, and leads to domestic economic stability and growth. Customers prefer shopping online as internet retail could save their money and time. Although physical store provides deals and coupons, usually online shopping gives a much higher discount rate. For instance, according to the Adobe Digital Index, "the cost of televisions bought online dropped 20.3% over the course of a year, however, the cost of televisions bought in–store falling just 15% during that time" ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On 6/10/09 San Francisco, CA the leader in online Customer Experience Management software (CEM), announces the results of the 5th annual survey of online consumer behavior, commissioned by Tealeaf and conducted by Harris Interactives. The survey concludes that 48% of U.S. adults are now conducting more online transactions than they did in the past given the current economic climate. However, 80% of adults who have conducted an online transaction in the past year experience problems when doing so in 2009. Previously it was around 87%. This improvement over prior years is the result of a better focus on delivering perfect experiences to online customer. Although, this reported decline in online transactions issues is good news, online customer experience is still very much a work in progress. The percentage of consumers that are affected by issues can be specified such as error messages (38%), endless loops (19%) and login problems (28%) are still extremely high. Bikramjit Rishi in their study on online shopping finds it a very innovative option for the marketers in addition to the already existing distribution channels. It is innovative and creative because marketers can experiment with it in the form of content, visibility and availability. In India online shopping is considered as a relevant and meaningful alternative channel for retailing and also it is now an important part of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Literature Review On Online Shoppers LITERATURE REVIEW 2.1Conceptual Review Many studies have attempted to study the characteristics of online users and shoppers around the globe. As per studies done by Technowledge Asia in 1999 and 2000, cybershoppers in some Asian regions were observed to be primarily males, in the age range of 26 to 35 years and better educated. This is not altogether different from that found by Donthu and Garcia (1999) who concluded that online shoppers in USA were "mainly males with above–average education, income, and occupation". Many reasons were given for people buying online. In a study conducted by Darian (1987) on in–home shoppers, he found that there were five types of convenience that in–home shoppers were after: 1.Reduction in shopping time; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... McKnight et al. (2002:335) identify "multiple, interrelated dimensions of e–commerce trust" that inform consumer behavior and trust building and describes trust as "the willingness to depend on a vendor to deliver on commitments; as a belief that the vendor uses consumer data ethically; or a perception that the Internet is technologically secure". It is therefore, possible to have trust based on one or more dimensions but not necessarily all to engage in online shopping. Tan and Thoen (2000) identify two (2) main elements of trust in online shopping as trust in the vendors and trust in the technological infrastructure (the Internet), which are evident from the above definitions. However, Pavlou (2003:107) argues that web retailers have a significant role to play in encouraging trust in the infrastructure by creating safe and secure online shopping environments. This implies that consumers‟ trust in the Internet can be influenced by perceptions of the vendors. Therefore for the purpose of this study, emphasis will be placed on consumers‟ trust in online vendors rather than trust in the infrastructure. This study argues that since online vendors are the consumers‟ main focus when transacting online, trust is built based on perceptions of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The preference of the shopper really determines whether or not they have a pleasant experience and the time to look for their items. There are many similarities as well as differences with online shopping and traditional shopping. The main factors that I will be discussing are convenience, discounts and item availability. Convenience is really a significant factor with both types of shopping. As of the 2011 Time Survey, the average American spends about 43.2 minutes per day shopping, which is down from 48.6 minutes per day in 2003. Cyber Monday is vastly becoming as popular as Black Friday, and for some, more popular. The world of retail has certainly raised their game with regard to discounts and sales on merchandise, both online and traditional, to attract customers. Retail centers will offer discounts to a certain number of customers first to arrive. Many online sellers will offer free shipping in addition to sales and discounts to compete. A consumer can save a considerable amount of money by researching an item they want to purchase to obtain the best deal. In addition, online sellers feature lower prices because they do not have the overhead costs such as rent, utilities and sales people. In comparison, retail centers will slash prices to compete against online retailers. Another savings with online shopping is that a consumer might not have to pay sales tax based on their residency. (Torres, 2017) Coupons and gift cards can be applied with either method of shopping allowing further discounts off regular priced items. Item availability is significant for online shopping. There is no shortage of shelf space when you shop online. Another factor to consider is when a consumer is looking for an old or unique item, they can just google it and purchase it. Expanding into E-Commerce Expanding into E–Commerce Off the Boardwalk and into the World Wide Web: A Four Point Analysis 1) The purpose of this section if to provide a SWOT analysis for a small, local clothing store on the New Jersey Boardwalk looking to transition into the online market place. Any boutique clothing store like the one provided has many strengths. The company's unique style helps differentiate it from its competitors. In addition, the company is small and flexible which enables it to employ different talents, ranging from domestic to international, to meet their project needs (Pinker, 2002). Of course, any such company has its weaknesses. The company is a local clothing store which means it is dependent on its manufacturers and variations in material and labor costs of third parties producers. Another problem that any small clothing store faces is coming up with new innovative ideas that fit to mass customization for their customers (Alexander, et al., 2003). Any small, local company looking to expand into the online market place also has numerous opportunities. Their business currently comes from customers walking up and down the boardwalk which has a limited season. By expanding to the internet, they will dramatically increase the number of customers exposed to their merchandize on a global scale. Mass production by the company will allow customers to get what they want but dilute their individual uniqueness (Pinker, 2002). Lastly, by orienting their sales to the online ... • 32. A List Of The Best Shopping Cart Software For E Commerce... There are various types of e–commerce software, hosted, licensed, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). The size of the e–commerce business is the best indicator of which ecommerce software type is the best fit. ERP is intended for large businesses, licensed (hosted by your own business server) is geared toward medium sized ecommerce shops, and hosted (where the software is hosted by the developer), is recommended for very small or small businesses. I turned to Jasmine A.'s article "A list of the Best Shopping Cart Software for E–Commerce Websites" for details on each ecommerce software option. Based on Jasmine's article I learned immediately that we could eliminate the hosted solution from the mix as Godiva.com is not a small shop, and hosted solutions do not integrate well with other software. Additionally, the Godiva site requires customization of the shopping cart's source code, which is not possible with the hosted option, and lastly, Godiva has more than five product types sold on the site. In considering the licensed option, although you have control over the software and you are able to customize to a point, Rachel Andrew of Smashing Magazine.com reminds us that many open–source licensed options force you to use their templates, additionally, they may force you to turn–on JavaScript in order for the shopping cart to function properly. If you are able to update the script, when the licensed software is upgraded by the system, it may overwrite your changes. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Ecommerce: Shopping Cart E–Commerce: Shopping Cart Wendell B. Taylor Grantham University Electronic Commerce April 3, 2012 A shopping cart is a piece of software that acts as an online store 's catalog and ordering process. Typically, a shopping cart is the interface between a company 's website and its deeper infrastructure. Contrary to popular belief among merchants, an online shopping cart does not process credit card payments (Parker, 2010). Instead, shopping cart software serves three other main purposes. First, it allows merchants to setup and manage online sales processes such as adding products, inventory management, order fulfillment and customer data collection (Parker, 2010). Second, it acts as the ordering interface for the customer allowing ... In most cases, updating a store using online shopping cart software means that any change to make to the product catalog or other store settings are immediately live (Early Impact, 2012). You don 't need to remember to "publish" the changes to apply them to the storefront (Early Impact, 2012). This speeds up the process, but also means that you have to be extra careful when making changes. If you use an offline shopping cart, then typically changes are not applied to the storefront unless you "publish" them (Early Impact, 2012). Some obvious disadvantages of the web merchants that we all are aware of: consumers are at higher risk of fraud on the part of the merchant than in a physical store. Merchants also risk fraudulent purchases using stolen credit cards or fraudulent repudiation of the online purchase. The lack of full disclosure with regards to the total cost of purchase is another one of the concerns of online shopping. While it may be easy to compare the base price of an item online, it may not be easy to see the total cost up front as additional fees such as shipping are often not be visible until the final step in the checkout process. Privacy of personal information is a significant issue for some consumers. Normally, a customer can only view pictures and or descriptions of the item ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
