Separation of Lanthanides/ Lanthanides and Actinides
Question 2
1. HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF
YOUR MAIN PRODUCT AND THE
ANCILLARY TEXTS?
2. Our film was a psychological thriller so our two
advertising products had to show this as well, they
needed to match what we were trying to put across
in our film, we needed the film to excite, intrigue
and scare the audience, so the poster and radio
trailer needed to put across these same ideas.
We use plot twists, and non-diegetic sound that
matches the action on screen, these keep the
audiences attention so we needed advertising
products that can draw an audiences attention and
make people want to go see it.
3. POSTER RESEARCH
When looking at the posters I first searched for
psychological thriller films to make sure that I was
looking at the right type of poster, it made sense to
look at the same genre so I knew what sort of
things are included in each poster.
The type of poster we took inspiration from were
films like nightmare on elm street, secret window,
American psycho.
Secret Windows's poster uses Johnny Depp’s face
as the main focus and uses shadows on his face to
highlight the expression he is showing.
4. POSTER DRAFT
The individual example posters were made on
Photoshop elements. For the main subject in my
poster I used the mask as this is an important part
of the film.
We had to include the name of the film, the actors,
we used a tag line which is a typical thing to see in
a film poster as it is a memorable way of advertising
the film. As well as the billing block at the bottom.
5. FINAL POSTER
This was made using sumo paint, it has aspects of
nightmare on elm street with the protagonist deb
being that focus of the poster, we used the
shadows to create our film poster, the flash effect
has also been brightened so that it stands out.
We created social networks for the film as well
because if it was going to be released as a real film
it would need to use them. There is also a review
included to make it seem like a professional poster.
The way that the light is makes it look like a
psychological thriller poster and we used the
contrasting dark/light that is typically seen in film
noir to make our poster stand out.
6. THINGS THAT NEED TO BE INCLUDED
A typical thing to see on a film poster is the film
companies logo this is what our group designed, it
is something that has to be included so that the
people seeing it know who has made the film.
The billing block is also seen on most of the film
posters that we included. It normally has
information about the producers of the film and who
has created the different parts of the film, like the
music, script.
It has to be a certain size as it can’t take up too
much of the space on the poster but it needs to be
able to be read.
7. RADIO TRAILER
A radio trailer is the main way that people can learn about a film, if they
hear it and it sounds good they will then want to go and find out more
about the film.
They include;
-music: this has to be linked to the film and thought out as
there has to be interesting music otherwise people won’t want to go watch
the film.
-voice over: this needs to include all important information
about the film such as the release date, the reviews and the main plot.
-dialogue: it has to use dialogue from the film as unless they
have already heard about the film and seen the trailer this is the first time
they will hear what is happening in the film so it has to have suspense.
-sound effects: these are used to make the trailer sound as
interesting as possible to the prospective audience if they sound bad then
that is what the audience will expect the film to sound like.
We used the most interesting sound effects from our film such as the
sirens to give the trailer suspense. And while the dialogue had to make
sense it was from the faster paced parts of the film to make the film
sound like a good film to go watch.
8. RADIO TRAILER
We used the most interesting sound effects from our film
such as the sirens to give the trailer suspense. And
while the dialogue had to make sense it was from the
faster paced parts of the film to make the film sound like
a good film to go watch.
To make the trailer we used both iMovie and garage
band. iMovie was used to make the actual trailer as we
could add sound clips from our film to it. Garage band
was used to make the music we included. While we had
little experience with either programme after making
some example trailers, we could then use it to make our
final one so that it then sounded the best, and more like
a professional radio trailer.
