openly address pressing issues facing
society in the 20th century
– In 1933, initiated a rescue operation for
German scholars persecuted by the
Nazis. This University in Exile was
given a home at The New School
– In 1943, became a pioneer in veterans'

The Office of International Student Services (ISS) is dedicated to creating a
welcoming and friendly environment for students from around the world.
– Helps international students with the U.S. visa application process
– Advises students on the maintenance of U.S. legal status,
employment, reinstatement, change of immigration status, and other
immigration-related matters
– Gives support to students adjusting to university life in New York City
All international students admitted into degree programs at The New School
are considered for institutional scholarships.
– Students should check with their home country for financial
sponsorship programs, as well as with Education USA or the US
Embassy in their home country for programs such as the Fulbright
Scholarship.
– Students are encouraged to seek out scholarships through third-party
organizations, which may also provide no-interest loans for qualifying
international students.
