• Why is that mission so important in Jordan ?
• Since the beginning of the Syria Crisis in 2011 Jordan hosts more than 1,25
Million Syrians – half of them as officially registered Refugees. 80% are
living in the north of kingdom, in Irbid, Amman, Mafraq & Zarqa.
• Around 16,000 Syrian Students are part of Higher Education Programs in
Jordan. That is 6,5 % of the whole number of students in Jordan
universities. But only 1/3 of them are studying in public universities.
• At the Yarmouk University, we host at the moment around 550 Students
from Syrian Refugees.

• Syrian Students in higher Education face different Challenges in Jordan:
• There are financial, administrative, informative and academic challenges:
• Syrian Refugees have in general a lack of financial resources. There are just a few all
• inclusive scholarships compared to the number of a number of Syrian refugees who
would need one.
• The process of Registration is long , Because some students Do not have any documents
and certificate.
• To support the Syrian Refugees in solving these problems, we will realize a program
what is called “Capacity Building Project for Syrian Refugees” at the Yarmouk
University.
