1. G321 Preliminary Task Evaluation
Name: Rebecca Watson
In a group with: Hadley Stones, Rhiannon Troop and Jassy Sahota
Write about the preliminary task. What were you asked to do? How did
you find each stage of the process?
We were asked to film a thirty second clip which included someone walking
into a room, a close up shot on the door handle, then a conversation using the
180 degree rule as well as shot reverse shot and the use of continuity. When
filming, I found it simple and easy to do as the process was pretty straight
forward.
Write the 3 techniques/rules you learnt about during the preliminary
task:
During the preliminary task, we learnt about the 180 degree rule, shot reverse
shot and continuity.
List three things that went well during the filming/editing process:
Generally, the whole process went well. The filming was well “organised”, and
there were no camera shakes during filming. We, as a group and an
individual, managed to finish within the allocated time.
List three things you think could have been improved in these stages:
Regarding improvements, I believe some of the angles could have been
improve, such as the over the shoulder shot. I also think the acting could have
been improved and the way in which the actors sat down on the chair.
2. Has the preliminary task given you any ideas for you 2-minute film
opening? If so, what? If not – think, then say
I think it has; the use of an over the shoulder shot and an establishing shot
could be useful as it gives the audience an idea of perspective. The editing
software and process could prove extremely useful to make the two minute
opening interesting and aesthetically pleasing.
