1. G321 Preliminary Task Evaluation
Name: Bobbie Brader
In a group with: Joe Gordon, Will Jackson and Sian Knapp
Write about the preliminary task. What were you asked to do? How did you
find each stage of the process?
Make a short clip with about 5 camera shots and a few lines of dialogue. Most of
the stages were easy apart from the conversation as we had to be really
consistent and had to speak and act the same way every time.
Write the 3 techniques/rules you learnt about during the preliminary task:
I have learnt about the 180 degree rule and that it is only okay to cross the line
when you are trying to make the audience feel disorientated. I have learnt about
focus pull and canted angles, these can also give an impression of disorientation.
List three things that went well during the filming/editing process:
1) We worked well together as a group.
2) We quickly agreed where the camera was going to be placed.
3) We all contributed good ideas to the preliminary task.
List three things you think could have been improved in these stages:
1) We could have stopped laughing in order to make the process quicker.
2) We could’ve placed the camera in a better spot so that it was easier to
edit.
3) We could’ve been more consistent with our acting and shots.
Has the preliminary task given you any ideas for you 2-minute film
opening? If so, what? If not – think, then say
Yes, it has given me an idea how to edit footage so you don’t have to miss any
parts – it has also given me the idea that it could involve opening doors with
close ups and slow mo’s which would make it more sinister.
