1. Stands for “My Online Learning Environment”
2. Owned by a software company called Blackboard (version 9.1 - Hosted)
3. Is a type of VLE – Virtual Learning Environment
4. A VLE gives students access to a suite of tools to enable you to:
• Build and deploy course content
• Conduct electronic assessments (e.g. quizzes/assignments)
• Share information, media and resources
• Foster collaboration

1. To support student learning and staff teaching
2. Aides in conducting student assessment
3. Easier course administration
4. Helps foster student collaboration
5. Allows for mobile learning
6. You can do anything you do in a classroom online
7. MOLE – Course roles
• Instructor: highest level – Access all areas
• Teaching Assistant: Same as instructor – but cannot enrol
others in the course
• Course Builder: Create content only, no teaching
• Marker: Can only view the course
• Student: interacts and views the content you provide
