fundamental part of an opening in drama in
suspense and tension. 8 of the participants also
said that they would like to see a significant event
happen in the opening so that the rest of the film

must base my opening on an should aim to
include suspense, tension and a significant event
which the rest of my film, if it was to be
produced, would revolve around.
10. Focus Group
In the focus group, I had a selection of 16 students in years 8
and above. All the participants were aged 12 and above and
there were 4 participants from each year group. Within the
focus group, I explained my idea and showed the group a
short trailer of what to expect from my film. All participants
seemed to like the idea of using a teenager as they felt they
would relate to the character and the struggles with growing
up. They said that there should portray an overwhelming
sense of sympathy for the boy in order to hook the audience
into the film. They said that they thought it was a good idea
and fits nicely into the genre of drama. After this feedback
they then proceeded to fill out the questionnaire except one
participant asked to not be part of the questionnaire.
