The Importance Of Emergency Intervention And Management...
Our University of Mary (UMary) EBP project team would like to acknowledge the following people
with a heartfelt and sincere "Thank You." Without your guidance, help, and assistance this project
would not have been able to move forward and touch the lives of those patients on extracorporeal
membrane oxygenation (ECMO) needing emergency intervention and management services. First,
we would like to express our thankfulness to Claudia Dietrich, University of Mary faculty and
Project Advisor. Her expertise in the capstone projects offered a higher level of assistance to keep us
going and on the right track. She has guided our team through every step of the process and

Policy Gaming For Strategy And Change Essay
Research Assignment 1
Summary: "Policy Gaming for Strategy and Change"
The following assignment is a summary of the article "Policy Gaming for Strategy and Change" that
was written by Geurts, Duke and Vermeulen in 2007. In the article, it can be read how companies
can use gaming simulations in order to analyse future scenarios and adapt certain strategies to their
complex organisational environment.
The article begins with an introduction about policy gaming, why it is becoming more useful for
today 's organisations and the statement that the unstable environment of today is a risk to
organisations strategies, and that these risks would require coming up with innovative and creative
solutions in order to solve these issues.
It is stated, that there are two functions within a game policy that directly addresses this dilemma,
namely on one hand as a customised and interactive approach and on the other as an opportunity to
shape the own future, which can be explored and analysed, due to a mixture of role–playing and
strategic simulation.
Further on, the article is divided into two parts. In the first part, the authors explain how exactly
policy gaming works, so how it is build up and how it is practiced. In the second part, the authors
make a step further and defining how powerful simulation gaming is actually by using examples,
which show the potential that simulation gaming has in real world cases. In the end, as the last part,
they are giving a conclusion and their own

Advantages Of Simulation In Healthcare Systems
Simulation has been used to analyze many issues in the healthcare sector for over 40 years [1]. Such
issues that have been addressed by simulation include, but not limited to; improving patients'
workflows and throughput time, reducing waiting times, resources allocation and optimization, staff
scheduling and development of decision support systems (DSS). Discrete Event Simulation (DES),
Agent Based Simulation (ABS) and System Dynamics are the main simulation methods that have
been used for healthcare systems' modelling and analysis [2]. Although each of these methods has
its own capabilities, they exhibit some limitations [3]. Table 1 summaries some of the capabilities
and limitations of DES and ABS methods in healthcare applications.
Recently, several hybrid/integrated simulation models have been introduced. In such approach,
multiple simulation methods are combined in one model. This combination/ integration of
individual methods enables the symbiotic realization of the strengths of individual methods, while
reducing their limitations [4].
Chahal and Eldabi [5], [6] identified three different formats for the integration between DES and
SD: Hierarchical format (data passes between two distinct paradigms), Process–environment format
(two distinct paradigms, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the comparison provided in Table 1, neither the DES method nor the ABS method is capable
to capture such details and complexity in healthcare systems on its own. However, both methods
together may be capable of capturing these details. In this paper, a framework for a novel DES–ABS
hybrid approach for modeling healthcare systems is proposed with the aim to enable modeling of the
complexity of healthcare systems considering the concepts of flows and queues, and also humans'
decisions and interactions. Then, a case study for one of the famous radiology centers in Alexandria,

Marketing Simulation Analysis
When the simulation was first assigned, I really had no idea what to expect. I assumed that my
group members and I would be creating various written documents, which was clearly not the case.
After selecting a group composed mainly of my close friends, we began to read through the various
materials given to us to help us successfully complete the simulation. After watching a few of the
videos from our customers and reading the given document about Minnesota Mircromotors, we
began the simulation. Before the simulation started our group decided that we wanted to put
customer satisfaction as our top priority, over market share and profit. After our first quarter, we
began to panic because every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From then on out I left market research at the required $50,000 just to stay safe. One of the most
important parts of the game I found was spending on IMC. After the first quarter as a group, when
we did very poorly, we found that putting money into IMC was the best way to increase our profit
and market share. What I found that worked best regarding IMC, was to basically put all additional
budget into it. Almost every quarter I did this, my profits would continue to rise. When I did the
simulation individually, every time I gained more money in my total budget that money would
address IMC first. IMC was definitely the key to the game for me. The single most argued part of
the simulation for our group was the distribution of money in Power–To–Size Ratio, Manufacturing,
and Thermal Resistance. At first it seemed that no matter what we did as a group some customer
would complain about something. No customer complained more than Customer B complaining
about wanting more thermal. Our group found ourselves always arguing over how much money to
put into which of the three categories. We never really did a great job doing so because there was
always an unhappy customer. What I found to be the best method was based on sure luck. I really
wanted to take some relatively large risks in my last attempt at the individual simulation so I cut out
Manufacturing Efficiency Improvement entirely. After two quarters of making a huge profit, I kept
that up until the end. This

Project Scheduling By Simulation Modelling Technique
Project Scheduling by Simulation Modelling Technique
Ramkumar Harikrishnakumar
Wichita State University Abstract
In the present scenario of manufacturing, agile manufacturing calls for flexibility in the global
market which involves rapid changes. Flexible manufacturing technology such as agent
manufacturing plays a vital role to achieve agility in the system. (Yeung, W. 2012) in job shop floor
the project scheduling technique provides the dynamic and unique way of dispatching the jobs if
there is any variabilities in the manufacturing system, resources, production disturbances and
irregular arrival of products. The main emphasis is designing the network schedules which will be
applicable to be implemented in a competitive operating condition. These software scheduling tools
will be able to represent the manufacturing tasks, sub tasks, work system and people involved.
(Wang, 2015) using simulation tools, the performance of a (simulated) multi–agent manufacturing
system under particular operating conditions can be analyzed in terms of. Simulation models are
developed based on current system to eliminate bottlenecks, to prevent under or over–utilization of
resources, and to optimize system performance.

Nursing Simulation Lab Report
Using simulation technology for healthcare education is not solely about interaction with the
simulation mannequins themselves, but being put into an environment and situation that resembles
what it would be like if the student were in an actual clinical setting. These types of environments
are called simulation labs. Upon viewing a simulation lab, the physical set up closely resembles that
of a hospital setting, yet there will be simulation mannequins instead of actual patients and a control
room where the instructor will sit and monitor what happens during the simulations. According to
Marcia K. Rothgeb, MSN, RN, in her article "Creating a Nursing Simulation Laboratory: A
Literature Review", the simulation lab enhances a student's learning ... Show more content on

Therefore, healthcare students need to be prepared to handle a variety of different situation
concerning these issues. Fortunately, during the process of simulation–based education, a healthcare
student would be sufficiently trained in each of these categories. For political responsibility, an
instructor could initiate a scenario where a homeless person, who is also jobless, comes in with a
heroin overdose. While debriefing the student on the simulation, an instructor might have him or her
explain how a patient being homeless and jobless causes political issues by not being able to pay for
his or her own care. The student might further explain how this is also a social issue because it
impacts society when a person cannot pay for his or her own medical care as the burden then falls
on taxpayers. A way to bring the issue of environmental responsibility into simulation learning is
having the students practice how to dispose of medication and bio–hazardous waste in a proper,

Modeling and Simulation
A Simulation is the imitation of the operation of a real–world process or system over time. It
involves the generation of an artificial history of a system and observation of the artificial history to
draw inferences concerning the operating characteristics of the real system. Simulation can be used
both as an analysis tool for predicting the effect of changes to existing systems and as a design tool
to predict performance of new systems under varying sets of circumstances
Advantages of Simulation: 1– Choose correctly. 2– Time compression and expansion 3– Explore
possibilities. 4– Diagnose problems. 5– Identify constraints. 6– Develop understanding. 7– Visualize

work–in–process, information, materials, or other processes. 3. Simulation studies aid in providing
understanding about how a system really operates rather than indicating an individual's predictions
about how a system will operate 4. By compressing or expanding time simulation allows you to
speed up or slow down phenomena so that you can thoroughly investigate them.

Motion Cueing Simulation Analysis
Human factors issues in flight simulation have been identified to include motion sickness, motion
cueing, and adapting fidelity issues related to flying the simulator versus the actual aircraft. Also
there is the issue with older legacy simulators that are still in use and their limitations. It is an
accepted fact that aircraft simulator design is a balance between technology, design limitations, cost
and operational effectiveness and safe to assume that due to these limitations, the simulator will
never feel or fly exactly like the actual aircraft (Sewzey & Andrews, 2001). In addition, the high
cost of building a simulator, the technical support and operation costs will continue to grow with
simulators.

Heat Source Model: Advantages And Disadvantages Of...
Abstract. Additive layer manufacturing regarded as the driver of a "third industrial revolution" can
give the industry and science significant benefits over existing manufacturing techniques. Yet it has
some disadvantages, with one of them being a wide variation of mechanical properties of additive
manufactured parts. The mechanical behavior of produced components is known to be profoundly
affected by a microstructure, which, in turn, depends on the material and process parameters. In this
paper, a two–dimensional numerical model is developed to simulate the grain structure evolution
during laser additive manufacturing. The cellular automata method is applied to describe the grain
growth. The Goldak's heat source model is used to define the heat input during laser melting.
Selective laser melting process, which involves sequential deposition and melting of powder layers,
is considered. First layer is deposited on a polycrystalline substrate. The laser beam moves
perpendicular to the area under consideration. The paper discusses the influence of the heat source
parameters on the grain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

manufacturing, which can be categorized in different ways [2]. Among them are such types as
extrusion (fused deposition modeling), wire (electron beam freeform fabrication), powder bed
(selective laser melting) types and so on. The ALM technique studied in this work is selective laser

Essay on Real World Exposure and CVA Simulation
Real world exposure and CVA simulation
The risk–neutral approach assumes that asset prices follow stochastic process with drift coinciding
with the short rate r(t) being risk–free interest rate. dS(t)=S(t)[rdt+σ(S(t),t) 〖dW〗^Q (t)]
Instead, in real–world measure they follow more complex process, which embodies time and risk
aversion of investors, namely: dS(t)=S(t)[μ(S(t),t)dt+σ(S(t),t) 〖dW〗^R (t)] or, equivalently, a
process with real–world stochastic discount factors which depend on risk–free interest rates but also
on asset prices itself.
The form of this process with almost arbitrary process's drift term complicates the implementation;
for example, makes it difficult in practice to simulate asset prices through standard analytic or ...

Below we outline this straightforward and well–known implementation methodology yet we further
enhance it to join real–world simulation specifics with the evident benefits of risk–neutral American
Monte Carlo pricing.
Under real–world measure there is a problem of defining an appropriate form of the market price of
risk, or the drift terms in the equation above. In practice, one uses historical data for all coupled risk
factors as a source to make model assumptions on the market price of risk, then calibrate real–world
stochastic process with corresponding drift terms. Note that for real–world simulation one needs a
real–world evolution of the whole yield curve to incorporate realistic risk perception of market
participants and not just a few principal yield curve components as it often happens in risk–neutral
simulation.
There is a large number of approaches to evolve real–world yield curves including non–, semi– or
parametric ones based on historical data as the primary source of real–world model calibration. In
general, their common feature is that they preserve historical quote patterns and statistical properties
including the following important ones: historical unconditional moments of 1–day or many–day
normal or lognormal changes for all yield

challenges and barriers in trying to ensure that the quality and safety of hospital patients is always

safety and debriefing experience is challenging and safe for all participating learners involved. Does
in–situ or in center simulations truly assure a challenging and safe learning environment? If neither
of these methods can assure a safe learning experience, is there another delivery method available

for framing a simulation informatics infrastructure in the academic environment are presented in this

The Approach to Outcomes
The initial step in the approach call for needs/resource appraisals: It is within this frame that the
realities of environment relevance and requirements must be considered. This may involve but not
limited to (not exhaustive listings) gathering relevant data to describe outfitting required in the
physical environment, supply inventory /requirements, technology capacities (system networking,
audio–video, data to describe resources available for blending new/existing), staffing, scheduling ,
orientations, trainings. This is sometimes referred to as an academic environment transformation
event which will vary in scope and scale based on the appraisal of resources available. The human
capital aspect is essential to the simulation integration process for the purpose of aligning people

this world to conduct research, simulate reality, and demonstrate their achievement. Our students
never knew their environment not to have the Internet and video games. Thus, they expect their
educational experience to included these as well. Student expectations can be seized upon to engage
them in formal education. Driver Education has long recognized and seized upon this opportunity.

accepted universally as being associated with effective instruction. The need for technology–based
assessment in the classroom existed then and exists now. Risk encountered during the real driving is

Computer enabled simulation tools allow amazing representations of the driving experience.
Modern gaming systems like the PlayStation three and X–box allow users to see, hear, and feel the

Interview summary for Peter Holloway, conducted on October 8, 2015 by Anita Sommer for the IRI
Virtual Experimentation and Simulation project.
Peter Holloway is a Systems Engineer with Rolls Royce Limited. He leads a team of simulation tool
developers that code, refine, and integrate existing modeling tools that are used in the preliminary
design phases of their jet engines. The preliminary design stages involve identifying candidate
engine architectures, preparing proposals, and presenting proposals to customers such as Boeing and
Airbus. Peter has been involved in simulation for about ten years in a number of different companies
and at various levels. His team consists mostly of domain experts that have lent themselves to
programming, with between three and five years of systems design experience.
Rolls Royce has a culture of allowing its engineering staff to develop experimentation and
simulation tools within their domain of expertise. Often however, these domain experts are not
experienced programmers and the tools the engineers develop are used by only a few people within
that domain. Peters team takes these tools, improves the code, making the tools more robust, and
most importantly from a simulation point of view, making the different tools talk to each other in
whole system simulation software.

These skills may be compromised if majority of the student's training is focused on the Sim Man. In
a experiment done comparing the test results from students using traditional teaching methods and
HFS, twelve different studies showed no dramatic increase or decrease in a students testing ability
after training from both styles. (Robyn and Simon 2010) However, students noted that HSF training
allowed them to implement their prior textbook knowledge in practical procedures.
www.Medicine.virginia.edu The positive approach to HFS training allows patients lives to not be
put at risk during the teaching process. Student's can practice administering a catheter or assisting in
surgery without the added stress of harming the patient. HFS allows students to practice complicated
procedures they otherwise may not have the opportunity to participate in. From poison to natural
disaster, with HFS students can practice group situations and emergency preparedness and have time
to reflect on what they could do better next time. (Garrett, B., Macphee, M., Jackson, C. 2010) Cost

training tool. A cost analysis done showed the cost per resident for HFS setup was around $260 for
the first year and $203 for the additional years opposed to less than $5 for lecture setup (Petscavage

was because the entire operation of the x–ray department and the future alterations were easier to

by use of graphical SimQuick graphical elements. Other graphical elements included counters for
waiting areas and utilization meters for areas of treatment. The counters were used for giving visual
information regarding the number of patients in the areas of waiting. On the other side, the
utilization meters were showing how much of the resources were been utilized.
After defining all the areas, it was time for defining the entities' paths and resources that are the

models as block diagrams, using click and drag mouse operations. With this interface, you can draw
the models just as you would with pencil and paper (or as most textbooks depict them). This is a far

Essay on Effectiveness of Scenario Based Simulation...
Introduction/Problem Statement Across the nation many nursing programs are facing clinical site
shortages for their students. The hardest hit population is the license vocational nursing (LVN)
students. Many hospitals are trending toward achieving "Magnet Status" for their institutions.
Therefore, LVN students are no longer allowed to complete their clinical training in several
hospitals. This action forces many nursing programs to seek alternative methods of clinical
instruction. In years past simulation training was used as an aid to facilitate learning. Today, for
many nursing programs scenario based simulation is the only option for learning patient care. Which
brings about the question as to just how effective is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Simulations should map onto real–life clinical experience, ensuring that learning supports the
experience gained within communities of actual practice. Simulation–based learning environments
should provide a supportive, motivational, and learner–centered educational climate that is
conducive to learning. Commonly encountered problems: Many courses are isolated, single–
instance episodes with little or no provision for regular practice and consolidation. Clinician tutors
often have limited training in the use of simulation for education. Simulation–based training is often
unrelated to the learner's everyday work, so newly learned skills are not incorporated into clinical
practice. Simulation–based learning is often dominated by organizational and financial pressures
rather than the individual needs of learners, and the importance of educational climate is frequently
overlooked. PICOT Question Will nursing students benefit from simulation training only, when
hospital training is not an option? My PICOT has now evolved into the question as to, whether or
not simulation training improves the quality of care in the hospital setting. Furthermore, in my
experience scenario based simulation provides a highly structured and well thought environment for
patient care. Kneebone, Nestel, Vincent, & Darzi state, "Many existing simulations focus on crises,

In conclusion this study suggests greater use of simulation in graduate programs could result in
more clinically confident and proficient nurses responding to emergency situations in clinical
situations after graduation.
My Reflection on the Blended Learning Experience I have been extremely happy with my
experiences thus far here at Framingham State University and the blended learning experience.
Having graduated from an accelerated nursing program only seven and a half years ago I can recall
very vividly the pain and torturous experiences of having to sit in class for eight hours per day, two
days a week. As an adult learner I can vividly recall multiple conversations with fellow adult
learners about how class work felt like it was filler. As a group we provided follow–up feedback to
the institution that they consider additional technologies and recourses that could fulfill the
educational requirement but allow the student to learn at home. We frequently commented on how
the class work could have been easily cut down to 2 hours of meaty material vs. 8 hours of fluff.
However, I personally enjoyed the camaraderie and networking of meeting my cohorts. Here at
Framingham I feel I found a program that has given me the best of both worlds. So far the balance
of course work and module work at home have complemented the experience wonderfully. I have

Virtual Reality Simulation Response
Holly crap, you do get it! I was trying to formulate a response in regards to your virtual reality
simulation question, when I did what I usually do when an answer is not forthcoming: I started to
poke around in your profile, looking for more information. I hope you don't see this as an intrusion;
I figured that the posts are out there to be read. I came across your thread on 'Speculation on the

The Importance Of Simulation In Nursing
Simulation is an educational approach that allows nurses to refine, expand, and apply skills and
knowledge to sensible medical conditions. The nurses participate in experiences that involve
interactive learning to meet the needs of their education. Nurses who engage in simulated learning
have the potential to identify specific scenarios while at the same time developing competencies and
skills, which improve their learning and experience. Simulation enables healthcare providers to
work without panic, thus minimizing the risk of harm to patients. The teaching strategy optimizes
the outcomes of care and contributes to patient safety, providing the learners with the opportunity to
intervene in clinical situations and experience scenarios with a safe, unsupervised setting without
exposing risks to the patients. In this, simulation in nursing enables the learners to acquire
knowledge and skills, improve their critical thinking skills to rescue lives, and enhance mental
health nursing education. In the teaching career, simulation enables beginners to obtain acquaintance
and skills. It is an important aspect of education for working caregivers and students. The Institute
of Medicine supports simulation as a constant attainment of skills and knowledge (Michelle
Aebersold & Dana Tschannen 2013). When learners use simulation, they acquire knowledge and
skills, enabling them to reduce the rates of mortality and morbidity. The knowledge acquired from
this aspect also enables

The Simulation Of Reality, By Cameron Stewart
The Simulation of Reality
Even at a first glance, Cameron Stewart's webcomic Sin Titulo seems to be fraught with mystery,
uncertainty and a certain sense of foreboding. It's fast–paced and pulls the reader in immediately
with its questions of existentialism as it blurs the line between dream spaces and reality. There is
anxiety, paranoia and the text is full of philosophical paradoxes and references. Above all, however,
the text grapples with the question of what reality is, how human beings perceive it, and if it is
possible to simulate it. This is directly in line with Jean Baudrillard's philosophical treatise of
Simulacra and Simulation, which examines the link between reality, society, and symbols. With this
concept in mind, Cameron Stewart's Sin Titulo can be read as a postmodern expression of paranoia
about life being reduced to a simulation of reality where the original is lost and where there is a
precession of simulacra.
The best way to explain the simulation of reality in v is through an allegory used to explain
Baudrillard's philosophy, which is derived from Jorge Luis Borges' "On Exactitude in Science" in
which the latter explains the relation between an empire and its representation. The cartographers of
this empire, "struck a map of the Empire whose size was that of the Empire, and which coincided
point for point with it" (Borges and Hurley 325).When this empire finally meets its downfall, all that
is left of it is the map. In Baudrillard's version of this

information on these databases can be difficult to rummage through. After navigating through the
following databases, PubMed, CHINAL, and the Cochrane library, I have found the following
articles from these databases provide information that supports the effectiveness of practice
simulation tools and simulations in the healthcare field to improve quality of care. This papers
intention is to critique the research studies conducted showing the differences and similarities they
may have and showing the importance of simulation tools and simulations.
Study #1
The first study discussed the importance of poor teamwork showing a connection in critical
incidences. A way to prevent such incidences was the implementation of having a group of medical
students, nurses and student nurses go through simulation–based interprofessional(SBITT) team
training. In hopes of preventing critical incidences in the healthcare field, in the study it says that
there are three main reasons that cause adverse patient outcomes. The three are failure to properly
diagnose, failure to institute appropriate treatment and inappropriate management of complications.
(Rieme,2016) By implementing SBITT, they hoped to decrease the adverse outcomes. (Rieme,2016)
The design of this study was to monitor team performance, and then scored on an observation form.

The WOW Factor In Flight Simulation?
The WOW factor in flight simulation
Many people seem to believe that flight simulation is all about the technical aspects of flying an
aircraft. It isn't! Many times, and for many people, it is also about the unique experience of seeing
the landscape from up there.
Flight simulation for me is a state of mind. While recently flying, on an extended kind of round
robin flight around England, using Orbx scenery on top of the other Orbx layers, from somewhere in
the westerly side of the map to my Chester destination, listenning to Neil Young's music streaming –
from his recent opened Neil Young Archives – I thought it was time to write something about the
freedom flight simulators give us, and why I believe those refusing to explore some of the options
available are not having as much fun as they could.
The heart of a flight simulator, is, no doubt, the aircraft itself, so I understand people want to have it

Having flown a fair amount of cockpits with professional pilots on commercial flights, I
experienced in those voyages their passion for being there, their interest for photography, their
dream of being able to jump from cloud to cloud. I continue to see through the photographs they

The Appropriateness Of A Mean Variance Simulation Model...
The appropriateness of a Mean–Variance Simulation Model for a

In this section, we will examine the use of a mean–variance simulation model on a commonwealth
public section defined pension benefit fund. Firstly, we will examine the expected medium term
returns using the reverse optimisation approach and discuss whether any adjustments are necessary.
Secondly, we will examine how appropriate the model is for the fund. Lastly, we will discuss how to
determine any inconsistencies if a mean–variance model is used.

the structure of the M–V model. This exposes our results to a potentially unbounded error size.
Thus, we suggest a Bayesian adjustment is needed to reflect our uncertainty about our assumptions.

Furthermore, the results in Table 1 also requires some adjustments due to tax and the inherent
assumptions of the reverse optimisation approach. In general, the returns of each asset class need to
be subjected to the appropriate tax deductions and transaction fees. In particular, Australian equity
returns have not accounted for the franking credits. In addition, the method used to calculate the

As young children, we all learn by doing. Toddlers learn to walk on their own with their parents
standing by as guides, providing a safe environment that makes it possible for the child to learn.
When a child enters the "formal education" system, unfortunately this rich environment of learning
by doing often disappears. The education system is still stuck in the industrial age with classrooms
more often designed for teaching rather than for learning purposes.

A well–designed simulation meets all of John Keller's goals in the ARCS model (attention,
relevance, confidence and satisfaction). It presents a problem to be solved, allows the learner to
make choices, shows the consequences of those choices, and builds confidence in the learner when
the problem is mastered.
There are five major characteristics of simulations:
Simulations are problem–based units of learning that are set in motion by a particular task, issue,
policy, crisis, or problem. The problems to be addressed by the participant may be either implicit or
explicit, depending on the nature of the simulation. The issues inherent in the simulation are not
textbook problems or questions in which answers are cut and dried and determined quickly.
Participants carry out functions associated with their roles and the settings in which they find
themselves. The outcomes of the simulation are not determined by chance or luck. Instead,
participants experience consequences that follow from their own actions. Participants experience
reality of function to the extent that they fulfill their roles conscientiously and in a professional
manner, executing all the rights, privileges and responsibilities associated with the role.

The Difference Between Bisimulation And Forced Simulation
Literature Review: The difference between Bisimulation and Forced Simulation Haowei Zheng
hzhe024@aucklanduni.ac.nz 1. INTRODUCTION
Currently, component reuse techniques have become more and more important for handling the
rapidly increasing complexities of component based embedded system. Bisimulation is a well–
known technique which has been proposed in the very early stage of simulation development. It
provides the functionality of checking for process equivalent in process algebras. Many applications
have been developed by using this technique. However, there are still some issues regarding using
bisimulation technique. One specific issue is component matching problem. To better resolve this
problem, a new technique which is called forced simulation is proposed and developed. In this
article, we will carry out a literature review to discover the difference between forced simulation
technique and bisimulation technique.
In the following sections, first of all the component matching problem will be explained more
detailed. Then the definition of bisimulation and forced simulation will be shown. After that, an
example of these two different techniques will be shown for comparing the difference between
them.

Experimental Study About Rc Based Rfid Tracking System For...
Simulation enables researchers to construct models to understand and evaluate current systems and
alternatives for applying new processes or improving current processes in various areas (Greasley,
2004; Ingalls, 2008; Iqbal et al., 2012). The simulation method has been adopted in various
industries such as airline, port operation, banking, service, food and transportation (Robinson, 2004;
Kotachi et al., 2013). Although simulation raises quality concerns and does not provide absolute
answers, simulation is flexible to design simple and complex processes (Chung, 2003; Kotachi et al.,
2013). Researchers used different approaches to simulate returnable container (RC) models such as
agent approach, regression approach and discrete event simulation approach. Apparwal (2014) used
agent based system approach to study about RC based RFID tracking system for logistic services
provider. Kim et al. (2014) used regression simulation model to study about RC for perishable
products under stochastic return times.

Simulation Modelling Essay
Simulation modelling is the procedure of developing and analysing a prototype of a physical model
to predict its behaviour and performance in real–world or over time. A model represents the system
itself and the simulation represents the operation of the system over a specified time period. It can
be used to show the effects of possible conditions and the sequence of action. Modelling and
simulation helps obtaining information about how a system will perform without testing it in real
life. It shows any flaws in the design and reduces potential errors with the system itself, as well the
operation of it. Also, validates the safety and durability of a physical prototype. This reduces the
costs and increases the quality of products and systems.
Figure 1: Interaction between model, experiment, theory and the simulation of the system.

Simulations can often be more realistic than traditional experiments, as they allow to change the
environment parameters at any stage of the design.
Analysis and simulations can be performed faster and more accurate than hand calculations and
experimental testing. This allows using them for efficient analyse of different alternatives. Also, it is
quicker to make decisions from using simulation applications.
Simulations set up a coherent environment that allows for integration of simulated systems in the
early analysis phase with initial components to a test environment for the final system. Then, this
environment can be transferred from development and testing field to training and education phases
for the system.

The Best Way Of Successfully Acting A Part
Scottish writer Arthur Conan Doyle stated, "The best way of successfully acting a part is to be it."
Although this quote can be linked to all aspects of human life, it can be specifically correlated to
gaining a profession. In other words, to gain a profession such as a doctor, nurse, surgeon, military
medic, etc, a person must act the part. Yet, to act the part, people contemplating mastering one of
these careers needs the appropriate tools and technology to gain experience. Seeing that nobody
would be willing to allow a medical student to butcher them by practicing various operations and
medical procedures, there are now technologies which simulate real life people and situations
without involving actual people. This is called simulation technology. Simulation technology is an
amazing innovation, specifically within the medical field, because it has been proven useful for
many years, it aids in learning for adult education, there is a wide variety of different simulation
technologies and uses of those technologies, and it helps create a safe, cruelty–free, and accurate
environment for medical students to practice their skills.
Definition
In order to understand the history of simulation technology, it is important to first understand what
simulation means. According to the Meriam–Webster Dictionary (2004), simulation is defined as,
"something that is made to look, feel, or behave like something else especially so that it can be
studied or used to train people."

Measuring A Rural And An Urban Catchment
Introduction
Understanding a rivers response to the differences of a catchments characteristics demonstrates how
the processes that occur in the hydrological cycle operate differently, which influences discharge,
runoff and stream flow of a river (Davie, 2002). River response is the adjustment of processes
during rainfall events through infrastructure, the geomorphic and biological characteristics (Kang
and Kazama, 2013). A catchments characteristic influence the flow rates (build up) and discharge
(wash–off) into a river system (Liu et al. 2013). A catchment, either rural or urban, is the area of
land in which water flows and is directed towards a river system, leading to the sea. Catchments can

2004). At the completion of the first catchment simulation, the majority of the water in sponge was
removed, and 1000 millilitre tube topped up with water to have exactly 1000 millilitres. The repeat
of this simulation was to have a plastic A4 sheet placed on the sponge to represent an urban
catchment, and the same process was implemented. To keep the simulations fair and balanced, the
roles in the experiment have to be consistent, and the motion in which the water is deposited needs
to be kept nearly identical.
Results
The hydrograph that is produced (Figure 1) has data that represents both a rural catchment and an
urban catchment experiments. Both experiments had a steep rising limb which both had a peak flow
event of 1160 millilitres per minute, but the urban catchments peak flow occurred 0.25 minutes
earlier (0.75 minutes) than the rural catchments peak flow (1.00 minutes). From here, a sharp falling
limb occurs after the peak flows occurrence, with the urban catchments discharge dropping 520
millilitres per minute, and rural catchments discharge drops 514 millilitres per minute. From 1.50
minutes both catchments on the hydrograph have a steady decline, and plateau from 3 minutes until
the completion of the simulation.
The simulations conducted are only carried out on a much smaller scale and time frame compared to
an actual river system, and how it responds to a rainfall event due to time restraints. The Leith river

Pros And Cons Of Army Simulations Theory
Abstract
Overview/Summary of Both Articles (naming the Article Titles and Authors)
This paper explores four published articles published in relation to the theory presented by Raymond
A. Noe in Employee Training & Development. All four articles were published online (Internet) and
compared to Noe's text offline (non–Internet). The topics discussed are the pros and cons of Army
Simulations and the virtual training environment of today's soldiers. Three of the four articles

situations that would not be possible to train for in real life) of virtual simulations (Sims) in the
Army training environment. The fourth article, however, shows a flaw with ... Show more content

(Noe, 2017). Below are outside articles that either agree with the overall opinion of Noe, or disagree
with certain aspects.
According to Raymond A. Noe in Employee Training & Development, the world of virtual
simulations in the U.S. Army is not only cost efficient, but also a training tool that allows soldiers to
"focus on important safety issues and emergency procedures that are impossible to replicate" (Noe,
2017) in real life events. This theory is repeated by many. David Vergun interviewed Maj. Mike
Stinchfield, chief of the Training Innovation Facility, Army National Simulation Center, Army
Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas for MilGaming

In this article, Vergun states, "Simulators are cost–effective in terms of fuel and maintenance, and
they also allow trainers to simulate variables that are dangerous and costly to simulate in real life:
weather conditions, difficult terrain and enemy attacks." (Vergun, 2016). Simulations are used all
across the world to train soldiers of all ranks in basic, and advanced, procedures. For example,

APRIL 2016 INTRODUCTION What can we as teachers do to influence our learners to become
entrepreneurs? The government of Botswana has been over the years working tirelessly in trying to
curb unemployment more especially among the youth, as well as motivating them to venture into
different kinds of businesses as a way encouraging entrepreneurship and trying to diversify the
country's economy which is highly reliant on diamond exports. This includes among other things,
coming up with initiatives such as the Youth Development Fund (YDF) which exists to fund youth
businesses to help fight unemployment and poverty. One of the programs of late is the Economic
Stimulus Package (ESP) which aims at up–skilling and up–scaling unemployed youth among one of
its many mandates. Again, there is the Citizen Entrepreneurship Development Agency (CEDA)
which aims at providing financial and technical assistance to citizens to develop their businesses
(CEDA, 2016). Not only does CEDA offer financial assistance to developing businesses but also to
already existing ones. What is more, it also offers training, mentorship and advisory services to new

Policy Gaming For Strategy And Change Essay Research Assignment 1 Summary: "Policy Gaming for Strategy and Change" The following assignment is a summary of the article "Policy Gaming for Strategy and Change" that was written by Geurts, Duke and Vermeulen in 2007. In the article, it can be read how companies can use gaming simulations in order to analyse future scenarios and adapt certain strategies to their complex organisational environment. The article begins with an introduction about policy gaming, why it is becoming more useful for today 's organisations and the statement that the unstable environment of today is a risk to organisations strategies, and that these risks would require coming up with innovative and creative solutions in order to solve these issues. It is stated, that there are two functions within a game policy that directly addresses this dilemma, namely on one hand as a customised and interactive approach and on the other as an opportunity to shape the own future, which can be explored and analysed, due to a mixture of role–playing and strategic simulation. Further on, the article is divided into two parts. In the first part, the authors explain how exactly policy gaming works, so how it is build up and how it is practiced. In the second part, the authors make a step further and defining how powerful simulation gaming is actually by using examples, which show the potential that simulation gaming has in real world cases. In the end, as the last part, they are giving a conclusion and their own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Advantages Of Simulation In Healthcare Systems Simulation has been used to analyze many issues in the healthcare sector for over 40 years [1]. Such issues that have been addressed by simulation include, but not limited to; improving patients' workflows and throughput time, reducing waiting times, resources allocation and optimization, staff scheduling and development of decision support systems (DSS). Discrete Event Simulation (DES), Agent Based Simulation (ABS) and System Dynamics are the main simulation methods that have been used for healthcare systems' modelling and analysis [2]. Although each of these methods has its own capabilities, they exhibit some limitations [3]. Table 1 summaries some of the capabilities and limitations of DES and ABS methods in healthcare applications. Recently, several hybrid/integrated simulation models have been introduced. In such approach, multiple simulation methods are combined in one model. This combination/ integration of individual methods enables the symbiotic realization of the strengths of individual methods, while reducing their limitations [4]. Chahal and Eldabi [5], [6] identified three different formats for the integration between DES and SD: Hierarchical format (data passes between two distinct paradigms), Process–environment format (two distinct paradigms, ... From the comparison provided in Table 1, neither the DES method nor the ABS method is capable to capture such details and complexity in healthcare systems on its own. However, both methods together may be capable of capturing these details. In this paper, a framework for a novel DES–ABS hybrid approach for modeling healthcare systems is proposed with the aim to enable modeling of the complexity of healthcare systems considering the concepts of flows and queues, and also humans' decisions and interactions. I assumed that my group members and I would be creating various written documents, which was clearly not the case. After selecting a group composed mainly of my close friends, we began to read through the various materials given to us to help us successfully complete the simulation. After watching a few of the videos from our customers and reading the given document about Minnesota Mircromotors, we began the simulation. Before the simulation started our group decided that we wanted to put customer satisfaction as our top priority, over market share and profit. After our first quarter, we began to panic because every ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From then on out I left market research at the required $50,000 just to stay safe. One of the most important parts of the game I found was spending on IMC. After the first quarter as a group, when we did very poorly, we found that putting money into IMC was the best way to increase our profit and market share. What I found that worked best regarding IMC, was to basically put all additional budget into it. Almost every quarter I did this, my profits would continue to rise. When I did the simulation individually, every time I gained more money in my total budget that money would address IMC first. IMC was definitely the key to the game for me. The single most argued part of the simulation for our group was the distribution of money in Power–To–Size Ratio, Manufacturing, and Thermal Resistance. At first it seemed that no matter what we did as a group some customer would complain about something. No customer complained more than Customer B complaining about wanting more thermal. Our group found ourselves always arguing over how much money to put into which of the three categories. We never really did a great job doing so because there was always an unhappy customer. What I found to be the best method was based on sure luck. I really wanted to take some relatively large risks in my last attempt at the individual simulation so I cut out Manufacturing Efficiency Improvement entirely. After two quarters of making a huge profit, I kept that up until the end. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Project Scheduling By Simulation Modelling Technique Project Scheduling by Simulation Modelling Technique Ramkumar Harikrishnakumar Wichita State University Abstract In the present scenario of manufacturing, agile manufacturing calls for flexibility in the global market which involves rapid changes. Flexible manufacturing technology such as agent manufacturing plays a vital role to achieve agility in the system. (Yeung, W. 2012) in job shop floor the project scheduling technique provides the dynamic and unique way of dispatching the jobs if there is any variabilities in the manufacturing system, resources, production disturbances and irregular arrival of products. The main emphasis is designing the network schedules which will be applicable to be implemented in a competitive operating condition. These software scheduling tools will be able to represent the manufacturing tasks, sub tasks, work system and people involved. (Wang, 2015) using simulation tools, the performance of a (simulated) multi–agent manufacturing system under particular operating conditions can be analyzed in terms of. Simulation models are developed based on current system to eliminate bottlenecks, to prevent under or over–utilization of resources, and to optimize system performance. Project Scheduling by Simulation Modelling Technique Multi–objective optimization model was applied to minimize the bottleneck machine makespan and the total product tardiness for machine tool in a job shop and Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is been used to ... Nursing Simulation Lab Report Using simulation technology for healthcare education is not solely about interaction with the simulation mannequins themselves, but being put into an environment and situation that resembles what it would be like if the student were in an actual clinical setting. These types of environments are called simulation labs. Upon viewing a simulation lab, the physical set up closely resembles that of a hospital setting, yet there will be simulation mannequins instead of actual patients and a control room where the instructor will sit and monitor what happens during the simulations. According to Marcia K. Rothgeb, MSN, RN, in her article "Creating a Nursing Simulation Laboratory: A Literature Review", the simulation lab enhances a student's learning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, healthcare students need to be prepared to handle a variety of different situation concerning these issues. Fortunately, during the process of simulation–based education, a healthcare student would be sufficiently trained in each of these categories. For political responsibility, an instructor could initiate a scenario where a homeless person, who is also jobless, comes in with a heroin overdose. While debriefing the student on the simulation, an instructor might have him or her explain how a patient being homeless and jobless causes political issues by not being able to pay for his or her own care. The student might further explain how this is also a social issue because it impacts society when a person cannot pay for his or her own medical care as the burden then falls on taxpayers. A way to bring the issue of environmental responsibility into simulation learning is having the students practice how to dispose of medication and bio–hazardous waste in a proper, environmentally–friendly ... It involves the generation of an artificial history of a system and observation of the artificial history to draw inferences concerning the operating characteristics of the real system. Simulation can be used both as an analysis tool for predicting the effect of changes to existing systems and as a design tool to predict performance of new systems under varying sets of circumstances Advantages of Simulation: 1– Choose correctly. 2– Time compression and expansion 3– Explore possibilities. 4– Diagnose problems. 5– Identify constraints. 6– Develop understanding. 7– Visualize the plan. 8– Prepare ... Also there is the issue with older legacy simulators that are still in use and their limitations. It is an accepted fact that aircraft simulator design is a balance between technology, design limitations, cost and operational effectiveness and safe to assume that due to these limitations, the simulator will never feel or fly exactly like the actual aircraft (Sewzey & Andrews, 2001). • 34. Heat Source Model: Advantages And Disadvantages Of... Abstract. Additive layer manufacturing regarded as the driver of a "third industrial revolution" can give the industry and science significant benefits over existing manufacturing techniques. Yet it has some disadvantages, with one of them being a wide variation of mechanical properties of additive manufactured parts. The mechanical behavior of produced components is known to be profoundly affected by a microstructure, which, in turn, depends on the material and process parameters. In this paper, a two–dimensional numerical model is developed to simulate the grain structure evolution during laser additive manufacturing. The cellular automata method is applied to describe the grain growth. The Goldak's heat source model is used to define the heat input during laser melting. Selective laser melting process, which involves sequential deposition and melting of powder layers, is considered. First layer is deposited on a polycrystalline substrate. The laser beam moves perpendicular to the area under consideration. The paper discusses the influence of the heat source parameters on the grain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Below we outline this straightforward and well–known implementation methodology yet we further enhance it to join real–world simulation specifics with the evident benefits of risk–neutral American Monte Carlo pricing. Under real–world measure there is a problem of defining an appropriate form of the market price of risk, or the drift terms in the equation above. In practice, one uses historical data for all coupled risk factors as a source to make model assumptions on the market price of risk, then calibrate real–world stochastic process with corresponding drift terms. Note that for real–world simulation one needs a real–world evolution of the whole yield curve to incorporate realistic risk perception of market participants and not just a few principal yield curve components as it often happens in risk–neutral simulation. There is a large number of approaches to evolve real–world yield curves including non–, semi– or parametric ones based on historical data as the primary source of real–world model calibration. In general, their common feature is that they preserve historical quote patterns and statistical properties including the following important ones: historical unconditional moments of 1–day or many–day normal or lognormal changes for all yield ... Simulation Learning Experience Essay My personalized knowledge and experience in the field of simulation comes from working in a simulation center within a hospital setting under the direction of the Quality and Safety Department. Providing a service like simulation within a hospital organization has come with its own set of challenges and barriers in trying to ensure that the quality and safety of hospital patients is always consistent. Because of the unforeseen issues like the way a simulation is obtainable in a hospital across different locations and everyday hospital dynamics between healthcare providers, has impacted the quality care and safety of our hospital patients and families. These two delivery methods are appropriate for our widespread hospital, but having just one simulation center for all locations is not ideal in regards to quality control of how the simulations are conducted. Not having the resources to have simulation center staff present at all hospital wide simulations does not ensure that proper protocols are implemented to ensure that the psychological safety and debriefing experience is challenging and safe for all participating learners involved. Does in–situ or in center simulations truly assure a challenging and safe learning environment? If neither of these methods can assure a safe learning experience, is there another delivery method available that is yet to be discovered? From experience, no matter what delivery method is used, our approach seems to not further eliminate the fact that that our instructors at times disregard the guidelines on how to debrief appropriately, therefore; compromising the psychological safety and learning environment for participants. Interview summary for Peter Holloway, conducted on October 8, 2015 by Anita Sommer for the IRI Virtual Experimentation and Simulation project. Peter Holloway is a Systems Engineer with Rolls Royce Limited. He leads a team of simulation tool developers that code, refine, and integrate existing modeling tools that are used in the preliminary design phases of their jet engines. The preliminary design stages involve identifying candidate engine architectures, preparing proposals, and presenting proposals to customers such as Boeing and Airbus. Peter has been involved in simulation for about ten years in a number of different companies and at various levels. His team consists mostly of domain experts that have lent themselves to programming, with between three and five years of systems design experience. Rolls Royce has a culture of allowing its engineering staff to develop experimentation and simulation tools within their domain of expertise. Often however, these domain experts are not experienced programmers and the tools the engineers develop are used by only a few people within that domain. Peters team takes these tools, improves the code, making the tools more robust, and most importantly from a simulation point of view, making the different tools talk to each other in whole system simulation software. • 102. The Importance Of Simulation In Nursing Simulation is an educational approach that allows nurses to refine, expand, and apply skills and knowledge to sensible medical conditions. The nurses participate in experiences that involve interactive learning to meet the needs of their education. Nurses who engage in simulated learning have the potential to identify specific scenarios while at the same time developing competencies and skills, which improve their learning and experience. Simulation enables healthcare providers to work without panic, thus minimizing the risk of harm to patients. The teaching strategy optimizes the outcomes of care and contributes to patient safety, providing the learners with the opportunity to intervene in clinical situations and experience scenarios with a safe, unsupervised setting without exposing risks to the patients. In this, simulation in nursing enables the learners to acquire knowledge and skills, improve their critical thinking skills to rescue lives, and enhance mental health nursing education. In the teaching career, simulation enables beginners to obtain acquaintance and skills. It is an important aspect of education for working caregivers and students. The Institute of Medicine supports simulation as a constant attainment of skills and knowledge (Michelle Aebersold & Dana Tschannen 2013). The Simulation Of Reality, By Cameron Stewart The Simulation of Reality Even at a first glance, Cameron Stewart's webcomic Sin Titulo seems to be fraught with mystery, uncertainty and a certain sense of foreboding. It's fast–paced and pulls the reader in immediately with its questions of existentialism as it blurs the line between dream spaces and reality. There is anxiety, paranoia and the text is full of philosophical paradoxes and references. Above all, however, the text grapples with the question of what reality is, how human beings perceive it, and if it is possible to simulate it. This is directly in line with Jean Baudrillard's philosophical treatise of Simulacra and Simulation, which examines the link between reality, society, and symbols. With this concept in mind, Cameron Stewart's Sin Titulo can be read as a postmodern expression of paranoia about life being reduced to a simulation of reality where the original is lost and where there is a precession of simulacra. The best way to explain the simulation of reality in v is through an allegory used to explain Baudrillard's philosophy, which is derived from Jorge Luis Borges' "On Exactitude in Science" in which the latter explains the relation between an empire and its representation. The cartographers of this empire, "struck a map of the Empire whose size was that of the Empire, and which coincided point for point with it" (Borges and Hurley 325).When this empire finally meets its downfall, all that is left of it is the map. A way to prevent such incidences was the implementation of having a group of medical students, nurses and student nurses go through simulation–based interprofessional(SBITT) team training. In hopes of preventing critical incidences in the healthcare field, in the study it says that there are three main reasons that cause adverse patient outcomes. The three are failure to properly diagnose, failure to institute appropriate treatment and inappropriate management of complications. (Rieme,2016) By implementing SBITT, they hoped to decrease the adverse outcomes. (Rieme,2016) The design of this study was to monitor team performance, and then scored on an observation form. It does not matter if I am photographing a real plane during an aerobatic display, either on the ground or airborne or a plane inside a simulation, the rules are the same, with the difference that in the flight simulation I can better choose my vantage point. Having flown a fair amount of cockpits with professional pilots on commercial flights, I experienced in those voyages their passion for being there, their interest for photography, their dream of being able to jump from cloud to cloud. I continue to see through the photographs they post on social media and share with friends that despite them being professionals "driving those big trucks on the sky" day after day, the dream that once led them to discover how airplanes work is still ... Questions On Derivation Of Equations DERIVATION OF EQUATIONS The purpose of this section is to find the analytical expressions which relate the S–parameters of an SUS, S _ij and error box, S _ijE, to the whole simulation results, S _ijm. Fig. 3 describes the network flow graph of a typical and all–inclusive simulation involving an SUS, shifted (de–embedded) reference planes and wave ports. According to the wave port characteristic (Appendix), the de–embedded sections are non–reflecting transmission lines with the following known S–parameter matrix: S_(L_dmbd )=(■(0&e^(–γL_dmb )@e^(–γL_dmb )&0@&)) (1) In which γ is derived from the wave port 2D cross section calculation and Ldmb is the distance that reference plane is moved. The appropriateness of a Mean–Variance Simulation Model for a Commonwealth public sector defined pension benefit fund Kevin Lian October 20, 2014 In this section, we will examine the use of a mean–variance simulation model on a commonwealth public section defined pension benefit fund. Firstly, we will examine the expected medium term returns using the reverse optimisation approach and discuss whether any adjustments are necessary. Secondly, we will examine how appropriate the model is for the fund. Lastly, we will discuss how to determine any inconsistencies if a mean–variance model is used. This is emphasised by the near singular correlation matrices 2 . Furthermore, the results are extremely sensitive to these mean and variance assumptions due to the structure of the M–V model. This exposes our results to a potentially unbounded error size. Thus, we suggest a Bayesian adjustment is needed to reflect our uncertainty about our assumptions. 1 AE – Australian Equity, IE – International Equity, LP – Listed property, UP – Unlisted Property, AFI – Australian Fixed Interest, IFI – International fixed Interest (Hedged), Cash – $AUD 2 This can be seen by determinants of the 5, 6, and 7 year correlation matrices, which were 2.31258E–48, –9.99469E– 34, and –1.72439E–20 respectively 1 Group B Part D ACTL4303 Assignment Student ID: 3374652 Furthermore, the results in Table 1 also requires some adjustments due to tax and the inherent assumptions of the reverse optimisation approach. In general, the returns of each asset class need to be subjected to the appropriate tax deductions and transaction fees. In particular, Australian equity returns have not accounted for the franking credits. In addition, the method used to calculate the risk–aversion coefficient result in time–invariant equity returns. Toddlers learn to walk on their own with their parents standing by as guides, providing a safe environment that makes it possible for the child to learn. When a child enters the "formal education" system, unfortunately this rich environment of learning by doing often disappears. The education system is still stuck in the industrial age with classrooms more often designed for teaching rather than for learning purposes. To return to the learning by doing stage, enter simulations. A simulation is an instructional strategy that offers the opportunity to learn in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A well–designed simulation meets all of John Keller's goals in the ARCS model (attention, relevance, confidence and satisfaction). It presents a problem to be solved, allows the learner to make choices, shows the consequences of those choices, and builds confidence in the learner when the problem is mastered. There are five major characteristics of simulations: Simulations are problem–based units of learning that are set in motion by a particular task, issue, policy, crisis, or problem. The problems to be addressed by the participant may be either implicit or explicit, depending on the nature of the simulation. The issues inherent in the simulation are not textbook problems or questions in which answers are cut and dried and determined quickly. Participants carry out functions associated with their roles and the settings in which they find themselves. The outcomes of the simulation are not determined by chance or luck. Instead, participants experience consequences that follow from their own actions. Participants experience reality of function to the extent that they fulfill their roles conscientiously and in a professional manner, executing all the rights, privileges and responsibilities associated with the role. • 131. The Difference Between Bisimulation And Forced Simulation Literature Review: The difference between Bisimulation and Forced Simulation Haowei Zheng hzhe024@aucklanduni.ac.nz 1. INTRODUCTION Currently, component reuse techniques have become more and more important for handling the rapidly increasing complexities of component based embedded system. Bisimulation is a well– known technique which has been proposed in the very early stage of simulation development. It provides the functionality of checking for process equivalent in process algebras. Many applications have been developed by using this technique. However, there are still some issues regarding using bisimulation technique. One specific issue is component matching problem. To better resolve this problem, a new technique which is called forced simulation is proposed and developed. In this article, we will carry out a literature review to discover the difference between forced simulation technique and bisimulation technique. In the following sections, first of all the component matching problem will be explained more detailed. Then the definition of bisimulation and forced simulation will be shown. After that, an example of these two different techniques will be shown for comparing the difference between them. 2. COMPONENT MATCHING PROBLEM In component based embedded system, component reuse methodologies has been an important focus of industry since the complexities of modern embedded system are increasing rapidly. • 135. Experimental Study About Rc Based Rfid Tracking System For... Simulation enables researchers to construct models to understand and evaluate current systems and alternatives for applying new processes or improving current processes in various areas (Greasley, 2004; Ingalls, 2008; Iqbal et al., 2012). The simulation method has been adopted in various industries such as airline, port operation, banking, service, food and transportation (Robinson, 2004; Kotachi et al., 2013). Although simulation raises quality concerns and does not provide absolute answers, simulation is flexible to design simple and complex processes (Chung, 2003; Kotachi et al., 2013). Researchers used different approaches to simulate returnable container (RC) models such as agent approach, regression approach and discrete event simulation approach. Apparwal (2014) used agent based system approach to study about RC based RFID tracking system for logistic services provider. Kim et al. (2014) used regression simulation model to study about RC for perishable products under stochastic return times.  Discrete Event Simulation Model This experimental study aims to execute model which displays RC system of a company in Thailand by using discrete event simulation (DES) approach or next–event technique. This approach is to simulate and update the operation of components when a state change or event is due (Greasley, 2004; Robinson, 2004; Pidd, 2004). For instance, considering close loop supply chain for RCs which pallets are used to deliver products to customers and then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 139. Simulation Modelling Essay Simulation modelling is the procedure of developing and analysing a prototype of a physical model to predict its behaviour and performance in real–world or over time. A model represents the system itself and the simulation represents the operation of the system over a specified time period. It can be used to show the effects of possible conditions and the sequence of action. Modelling and simulation helps obtaining information about how a system will perform without testing it in real life. It shows any flaws in the design and reduces potential errors with the system itself, as well the operation of it. Also, validates the safety and durability of a physical prototype. This reduces the costs and increases the quality of products and systems. Figure 1: Interaction between model, experiment, theory and the simulation of the system. In civil engineering, a typical process of simulation modelling includes: 1. By using a 2 dimensional (2D) or 3 dimensional (3D) tool/application, develop a virtual model of a system to represent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Simulations can often be more realistic than traditional experiments, as they allow to change the environment parameters at any stage of the design. Analysis and simulations can be performed faster and more accurate than hand calculations and experimental testing. This allows using them for efficient analyse of different alternatives. Also, it is quicker to make decisions from using simulation applications. Simulations set up a coherent environment that allows for integration of simulated systems in the early analysis phase with initial components to a test environment for the final system. Then, this environment can be transferred from development and testing field to training and education phases for the system. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 143. The Best Way Of Successfully Acting A Part Scottish writer Arthur Conan Doyle stated, "The best way of successfully acting a part is to be it." Although this quote can be linked to all aspects of human life, it can be specifically correlated to gaining a profession. In other words, to gain a profession such as a doctor, nurse, surgeon, military medic, etc, a person must act the part. Yet, to act the part, people contemplating mastering one of these careers needs the appropriate tools and technology to gain experience. Seeing that nobody would be willing to allow a medical student to butcher them by practicing various operations and medical procedures, there are now technologies which simulate real life people and situations without involving actual people. This is called simulation technology. Simulation technology is an amazing innovation, specifically within the medical field, because it has been proven useful for many years, it aids in learning for adult education, there is a wide variety of different simulation technologies and uses of those technologies, and it helps create a safe, cruelty–free, and accurate environment for medical students to practice their skills. Definition In order to understand the history of simulation technology, it is important to first understand what simulation means. According to the Meriam–Webster Dictionary (2004), simulation is defined as, "something that is made to look, feel, or behave like something else especially so that it can be studied or used to train people." ... • 147. Measuring A Rural And An Urban Catchment Introduction Understanding a rivers response to the differences of a catchments characteristics demonstrates how the processes that occur in the hydrological cycle operate differently, which influences discharge, runoff and stream flow of a river (Davie, 2002). River response is the adjustment of processes during rainfall events through infrastructure, the geomorphic and biological characteristics (Kang and Kazama, 2013). A catchments characteristic influence the flow rates (build up) and discharge (wash–off) into a river system (Liu et al. 2013). A catchment, either rural or urban, is the area of land in which water flows and is directed towards a river system, leading to the sea. Catchments can vary in size from hectares to millions of ... At the completion of the first catchment simulation, the majority of the water in sponge was removed, and 1000 millilitre tube topped up with water to have exactly 1000 millilitres. The repeat of this simulation was to have a plastic A4 sheet placed on the sponge to represent an urban catchment, and the same process was implemented. To keep the simulations fair and balanced, the roles in the experiment have to be consistent, and the motion in which the water is deposited needs to be kept nearly identical. Results The hydrograph that is produced (Figure 1) has data that represents both a rural catchment and an urban catchment experiments. Both experiments had a steep rising limb which both had a peak flow event of 1160 millilitres per minute, but the urban catchments peak flow occurred 0.25 minutes earlier (0.75 minutes) than the rural catchments peak flow (1.00 minutes). From here, a sharp falling limb occurs after the peak flows occurrence, with the urban catchments discharge dropping 520 millilitres per minute, and rural catchments discharge drops 514 millilitres per minute. From 1.50 minutes both catchments on the hydrograph have a steady decline, and plateau from 3 minutes until the completion of the simulation. The simulations conducted are only carried out on a much smaller scale and time frame compared to an actual river system, and how it responds to a rainfall event due to time restraints. • 151. Pros And Cons Of Army Simulations Theory Abstract Overview/Summary of Both Articles (naming the Article Titles and Authors) This paper explores four published articles published in relation to the theory presented by Raymond A. Noe in Employee Training & Development. All four articles were published online (Internet) and compared to Noe's text offline (non–Internet). The topics discussed are the pros and cons of Army Simulations and the virtual training environment of today's soldiers. Three of the four articles confirm Noe's opinion of the value added (both monetarily, as well as, the ability to train in situations that would not be possible to train for in real life) of virtual simulations (Sims) in the Army training environment. The fourth article, however, shows a flaw with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But the cost is much less than the hourly cost of taking helicopters out of service to teach pilots" (Noe, 2017). Below are outside articles that either agree with the overall opinion of Noe, or disagree with certain aspects. According to Raymond A. Noe in Employee Training & Development, the world of virtual simulations in the U.S. Army is not only cost efficient, but also a training tool that allows soldiers to "focus on important safety issues and emergency procedures that are impossible to replicate" (Noe, 2017) in real life events. This theory is repeated by many. David Vergun interviewed Maj. Mike Stinchfield, chief of the Training Innovation Facility, Army National Simulation Center, Army Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas for MilGaming Online. In this article, Vergun states, "Simulators are cost–effective in terms of fuel and maintenance, and they also allow trainers to simulate variables that are dangerous and costly to simulate in real life: weather conditions, difficult terrain and enemy attacks." (Vergun, 2016). Simulations are used all across the world to train soldiers of all ranks in basic, and advanced, procedures. For example, Virtual Battlespace 3 (VBS3) is used at most military installations in the United States. VBS3 is used primarily to support dismounted patrols and convoy operations; as it is a 3D ... KEABETSWE PHUTHEGO 200903371 ELB 504 GUIDED STUDY IN BUSINESS EDUCATION TOPIC: ADVANCING ENTREPRENEURIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES THROUGH THE USE OF SIMULATION GAMES IN SECONDARY SHOOL BUSINESS EDUCATION DUE DATE: 8 APRIL 2016 INTRODUCTION What can we as teachers do to influence our learners to become entrepreneurs? The government of Botswana has been over the years working tirelessly in trying to curb unemployment more especially among the youth, as well as motivating them to venture into different kinds of businesses as a way encouraging entrepreneurship and trying to diversify the country's economy which is highly reliant on diamond exports. This includes among other things, coming up with initiatives such as the Youth Development Fund (YDF) which exists to fund youth businesses to help fight unemployment and poverty. One of the programs of late is the Economic Stimulus Package (ESP) which aims at up–skilling and up–scaling unemployed youth among one of its many mandates. Again, there is the Citizen Entrepreneurship Development Agency (CEDA) which aims at providing financial and technical assistance to citizens to develop their businesses (CEDA, 2016). Not only does CEDA offer financial assistance to developing businesses but also to already existing ones. What is more, it also offers training, mentorship and advisory services to new entrepreneurs as well as those that have been in the industry for a while. It is however worrisome how some of the youth businesses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
