Family Systems Theory And Its Impact On The Practices Of...
Abstract
This research paper evaluates the Bowen Family Systems Theory and its impact on the practices of Marriage and Family Counseling. Dr. Murray
Bowen is credited with being one of the founders of family systems theory. This paper will discuss the eight concepts which Bowen deemed causes
anxiety within the family system. Also, the goals and practices which have been utilized by professionals within the psychology field relation to the
Bowen Family Systems Theory. Analysis provides that anxiety is passed along through the family system by the triangle concept and when families
are dysfunctional there are several outcomes based upon the concepts developed by Dr. Bowen. The therapeutic structure which is developed by
Bowen allows clients to help themselves and lower levels of anxiety over time.

On June 26th 2015 the U.S Supreme court legalized gay marriage in all 50 states, and this was a historic change in how marriage was defined in the
US (Procon.org). Over the past couple of decades the traditional definition of marriage and family have changed and includes various backgrounds,
sexual preferences, and blended family systems. We find that there are several definitions of family such as the traditional family can include
heterosexual couples, single parents, and families including blood relative, adoptive families, foster relationships, grandparents raising grandchildren,
and stepfamilies (ceunit.com). Extended family can be

Family Traditions and Practices
The regular practices and traditions in a family life have different forms and dynamics, because every family structure and composition has different
modes and standards of living. And it depends on the changing aspects of a family that how they perform and practice certain traditions and
practices.(Wolin, Bennett, Jacobs, 1988) it can be classified in few groups and categories mention below.
(a) Under–ritualized families: The groups of a people who are not interested to follow and celebrate any ceremonies and traditions, in vacations or in
free time. They do not involve and organize any family events and festivals. Their domestic and household life is often seems to be blank,
unfriendly and cool. They live in society with other people but are least interested to participate in social and cultural practices. These people are
not considered very sociable, welcoming, and outgoing to make any relations and contacts. Mostly these people live in a nuclear family style,
individuals living separate or often together but in a more democratic and independent way and they can decide and spend their life according to
their own will. (b) Families with Strict Practices: People that follow traditions and customs very strictly in an inflexible way and do not tolerate or
agree for any changes in their routines, these people mostly have joint family system in developing societies and all the close family members living
together and share their economy in a collective way. Senior members

The Care Practice At Reed City Family Practice
I was placed at Reed City Family Practice in Reed City, Michigan for My field work. Essentially, this practice is a family practice which means this
practice provides services for one's entire family needs no matter of age, ranging from birth to geriatric. They provide services Such as
immunizations, common cold, flu, strep, Mono, ordering diagnostics, wellness checks, yearly physicals, health maintenance, and referrals to
specialists, just to name a few. while there I learned, they had eight providers and, adding more with a wide range of services they provide. As many
of the providers on the site have much expertise. All the providers can treat all patients for any of these services. My experience there are that all
providers want you to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seems in this office there is always plenty of them to do. Also, there are overdue results that patients need to get done, if the computer says it's been
too long then the medical assistant must call them patients see if they plan on having them tests done. This is an all–day thing if you have a break with
patients you are on the phone. For the most part, medical assistants do not leave at 5 pm. It is very important to know your job duties as a medical
assistant and, accurate with the information you accumulate from your patients as you are their advocate. You communicate with family, doctors,
specialists, other health care workers concerning your patient's needs. The providers are just as busy as their medical assistant. Most of the
providers on the site have services they do that another provider doesn't do such as, DR. Z does some common adjustments of bones and, also
monitors pain for patients that have pain issues with some addiction tendencies. He will refer to the social worker on site to discuss and maintain
any further addiction issues. My experience working with Dr. Z is, the more you know or the more he can show you the better. He will, as he is
doing procedures will ask you if you want to see what

Pediatric Intervention Proposal
Overview of the Problem
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that all children be screened for developmental delays using a standardized tool at 9, 18
and 30 months of life. Use of a standardized tool has been shown to improve rates of referral for early intervention and decrease delays in referral
when compared with developmental surveillance alone. In our hospital outpatient clinic system, pediatric care is provided both in a 2–site pediatric
practice and in 5 affiliated family practice clinics; care is provided by pediatricians, family practice physicians, nurse practitioners and physician
assistants. Preliminary assessment has found that there is vast variation in the use and documentation of standardized developmental ... Show more

The clinics are quite different in terms of provider training, size, location, practice mix and clinic flow. A single quality improvement plan that doesn't
look at current practice structure is unlikely to be successful in all locations. It would be very helpful to do a site visit at each location and
qualitatively assess how early childhood preventative visits are scheduled, what screening processes are currently in place, what training staff have
currently on developmental assessment and how documentation is done. Because there are only seven sites, it is feasible to map out exactly how
developmental screening fits into preventative care – or doesn't – at each location. At this visit, we could assess staff views on developmental
screening, their perceptions about how implementation would affect the practice and their interest in being a site champion. It would also be useful to
find out which screening tools different practices are using; the different tools assess somewhat different information and require differing levels of
education and time to administer. The site visits would provide information on both the structure of care and the process of developmental screening at

Argumentative Essay On Euthanasia
Most of us have been in the position where our pets fall very ill and old. What did we do? Some of us put them down, letting them rest peacefully.
Others? We let them live on to carry out their lives naturally. Now think deeper. Is this something we do to humans also? Euthanasia. A singular word
with a huge controversial stance. Euthanasia is the practice of physician–assisted suicide to the terminally ill. With such a broad history, the topic has
taken the world by storm.
Dating as far back in 460 through 370 BC, according to medical news today, it was mentioned in the Hippocratic oath, "To please no one will I
prescribe a deadly drug nor give advice which may cause his death." However in the 1300s in English common law suicide was considered a criminal
act which included euthanasia. Continuing into 1478 through 1535 Thomas Moore, an English lawyer, a scholar as well as author and statesman,
envisioned a utopian community as one to provide death to those whose illness' were dubious of feeling burdensome to lingering pain. Ezekiel
Emanuel, erudite in bioethics, stated the modern era of physician–assisted suicide was encouraged by the availability of anesthetics in the early 1800s.
Following in New York in 1828 The anti–euthanasia law passed which was the first known laws of euthanasia in the United States of America. A
peak and support for euthanasia arrive in the 1900s again 30 years later in 1930 and again in 1960 for an interest of the practice. Yet in 1961

Family Centered Practice Model Paper
In order to provide services to children and families involved with the child welfare system, FGDM's need to come from a family centered and a
strengths based approach. When families are given the opportunity to demonstrate their strengths and they are recognized, respected, affirmed they are
more willing to make take initiative towards change and use those strengths as their foundation. Family focused services are focused in working with
families in order to improve their level of functioning. The entire family needs to be addressed in order to provide a safe, stable, supportive, and a
permanent environment for the child (Department of Social Services, n.d). When using the strength based approach with individuals seeking mental
health services it has been found to increase self–esteem, self–efficacy, personal confidence, sense of hope and life satisfaction (Tse, et al., 2016). The
purpose of the strength perspective is to point out to children and families that are struggling with mental health issues is to remind them of the areas
they have flourished in. As social workers and mental health practitioners we are bound to "meeting the client where they are at" by allowing the client
to set the pace of their treatment in a manner they can understand. This perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This practice ensures meaningful roles for all family members and it provides the family the opportunity to participate in the decision making process
and in developing a plan. The family centered approach is based on respect, honesty, and open communication between the family and service
providers. This model strives to focus on the entire family's needs and not solely on the child's needs, it tailors services to meet the needs of the
families and it empowers families by allowing them to be part of the treatment planning phase (Estefan, Coulter, VandeWeerd, Armstrong & Gorski,

Disadvantages In my life, disadvantages have been a setback in my path to success. My advantages have not always overruled them. The worst part of
my disadvantages is that I have no control over them. As I continue to live life, I struggle to overcome my disadvantages and to shine bright. My biggest
disadvantage would be my race. Being an African–American in the United States has always been seen as a negative. From the moment my ancestors
were brought to the United States, they were forced to adjust to European customs. They were slaves, forced to do labor and were considered
"property" of the white man. Although slavery was abolished, discrimination occurred. Many African–American activist fought and died for
African–Americans' rights. There would only be nuance, but today things are going downhill again.
Today, the stereotypes of African–Americans are put upon me. I am often judged due to my race. I have been treated intellectually inferior multiple
times. People often assume me to be living in poverty and fatherless. Sometimes, people are suspicious of me due to media and newscasts displaying
African–Americans as criminals and dangerous. Due to my color, people even believe silly things like me having a love for watermelon, grape soda
and fried chicken.
Although, none of those things are true about me. As I mentioned, I have a strong sense of analytical intelligence. I also have an active father in my

Family System Theory And Early Childhood Practice
Edward Teyber once said, "family system theory offers therapists an invaluable way of understanding their clients ' strengths and problems– clarifying
the familial rules, roles, myths, communication patterns, and boundary issues that defined their clients ' development." Also, as said in the article
Understanding Families Applying Family System Theory to Early Childhood Practice that "a family system theory has a primary concept in which is
that the family includes interconnected members, and each member influences the other in predictable and occurring ways." (pg. 5).
First, based on the article read "boundaries relate to limits, togetherness, and separateness, what or who is "in" or "out" of the family" (pg. 5, Walsh
& Giblin 1988). However, I thought that having boundaries is important in a family because through boundaries we know when we can step into
certain areas or when can 't we know. My experience in my family system theory as having boundaries was that was that we each had an individual
room, individual spaces, and trust within our own decision. I also was able to give my own opinion but I needed to know which was the right timing
and to never step over the adult conversation.
In a family "there is usually a peacemaker, a clown, a rescuer, and a victim, although there can be many other roles as well", (pg. 7) this was said in
the article that I read. I thought that role was one of the most important on a family system theory due to that the roles in a family are

The Practice Of Polygamy Throughout A Wealthy Family
In a wealthy family, polygamous housing consists of a separate housing unit for each wife and her children (Metz, 1993). These units can be separate
houses or houses within a walled family compound (Metz, 1993). A compound can include a separate house that the men of the family share and use
for male gatherings, such as meals with guests or business meetings (Metz, 1993).
The practice of polygamy is decreasing significantly due to urbanization, education, development, and the cost of living (Al–Saif, 1997). Generally,
educated and employed women have more independence and reject polygamy as a part of their marriage expectations. Gharaib (1991) found that
86.8% of husbands in the Gulf (Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia) have only one wife, 9.6% have two wives,
1.1% has three wives and 0.33% only has four wives; 74.7% had married their relatives; and 25.5% live with their extended families. Al–Saif (1997)
found that in Saudi Arabia, only 4.8% of parents approves of their daughters marrying a husband who has another wife. This rate is much lower than
the previous rate of 14.5% (Al–Saif, 1997). Traditionally the decision to marry made mainly by both families and marriage is often contracted by
agreement amongst families in order to expand their circle of alliances and enhance their prestige (Metz, 1993). A partner is chosen by a person'sfamily
, not based on the Western concept of romantic love (Metz, 1993). A woman's opinion may be respected

Personal Narrative-Sever's Story
After the night when Maeve stood up for herself at dinner, she was a much more confident girl. Hurling helped her do that. She was having a lot
more fun with hurling than she ever did with soccer. The day after she was accepted to the team, her practices began. "Aren't you excited for
practice?" asked Maeve to Patrick. "I guess a little, but you know that I've been doing this for a long time, right? But I'm very excited for you, little
sis." Patrick replied. They left the house for practice and got there soon after. They began their basic warm–ups and Maeve followed along to the best
of her ability. Her brother had told her what they did earlier, but at that moment it was just a big jumble like a messed up puzzle in her mind. The

team again, but you must be completely determined to become better. You aren't just going to wake up one day and be better at hurling. Remember
practice makes progress, not perfect." "Yes, I completely understand. Thank you so much, see you later!" Maeve replied. Later when Maeve got
home from school she ran into the house and yelled, "I'm back on the team! I decided that I would play hurling!" "Really? Nice Maeve," her dad

INTRODUCTION:
Family therapy is a psychotherapeutic treatment of the family to bring about better psychological functioning. It is a highly flexible psychotherapeutic
approach applicable to a wide range of child focused and adult focused problems. Family therapy has been viewed as a "powerful, fast and effective
method of achieving change within the family" (Poin¬ton, 2006).
Definition of family therapy: Gurman, Kniskern, and Pinsof (1986) defined family therapy as "any psychotherapeutic endeavor that explicitly focuses
on altering the interactions between or among family members; and seeks to improve the functioning of the family as a unit, or its subsystems, and/or
the functioning of individual members of the family".
Sholevar (2003) defines family therapy as "any use of a family focused intervention to bring out behavioral and/or atti¬tudinal changes in one or more
family members."
Adult: The word adult derived from the "adults" which means grown to full size and strength or matured. Adults are the individuals who are completed
their growth and are ready to assume their status in the society along with other adults. There are

Domains Of Family Practice Model
Discussion #1
According to the book, "The Domains of Family Practice Model states that Hallmarks of FLE, Family Therapy, and FCM have similarities and

One key principle of the Human Ecology theory is development occurs through the interaction of a mosaic of factors family microsystems influence
and are influenced by transactions with other systems (neighborhood, peer group, school, workplace).
Each profession is required to implement the latest research and theories into their work. According to the book, "staying current and preparing can
include reviewing research on a topic, implementing various theories in work, collecting a list of community resources, and updating a personal
philosophy statement" (Walsh, DeFlorio, Burnham, & Weiser,114).
In addition, each profession value and respect diverse families. According to the American Association forMarriage and Family Therapy website

Reflection Paper On Color Guard
Hey there! It's Monday, July 17. My sisters and I have packed and we are officially ready to leave for Color Guard camp. We are really excited for
what is in store for us over the next few days. Last year's camp was difficult and made our guard wary of coming back for a second try, but
hopefully they've fixed last year's issues. The guard met up at the school this morning to be fitted for our fall costumes and we are now on our way
to start day one of camp. This year campers are sleeping in Royer Hall, and I must admit, I believe that last year's dorms were nicer, especially
considering every two rooms had their own bathroom. Other than the dorms, I admire the intensity of this year's camp much more than last year's. The
advanced group's instructor, Rashaud, is a great teacher and I definitely believe that I will be learning and improving with him this week. The main
purpose of today was to review the fundamentals of Colorguard such as: extensions on the left and right sides, drop–spins, and a cone exercise. Using
what we have learned today, we tried out for our levels; however, he has chosen not to assign groups until tomorrow! In addition, everyone participated
in icebreaker games to better familiarize one another and become more familiar with our surroundings. This morning's cardio was strenuous, but the
team seemed to get through it easily. After morning stretches and cardio, Rashaud told us what groups to report to. This year, our guard managed to

How Managers Understand And Manage The Work Family Balance...
The aim of this study is to investigate how managers understand and manage the work–family balance practices (WFBPs) and how undertaking these
new practices impact their dual–level position (i.e. organisation and individual level) in the organisation. To achieve this aim, this study will first
explore the work–family relationship that has been broadly and conceptually defined by previous scholars and different conceptual definitions were
taken into account. The term used in this study is Work–Family Balance Practices (WFBPs) that will be used to refer to the human resource practices
and policies establish by organizations. Namely, these available practices are able to implement amongst workers in the workplace. Although the work
life and family life are different, yet they are interconnected (Clark, 2000). Thus, this study views various perspectives when conceptualizing the work,
family and work–family balance following on from the earlier discussion.
This chapter is divided into seven sections. It starts with the definition of term Work–Family Balance Practices (WFBPs). It then looks at how this term
has been alternated and used in different ways. After this brief introduction, the second section will briefly discuss the origin of work and family from
a conceptual background of the work–family area related. The third section will continue to discuss the understanding of terms of work and family from
the conceptual background of work and family area. The fourth section

The Negative Effects Of Homework
Have you ever been overly stressed or stayed up all night because of homework? Well according to Dr. Craig Canapari, sleep deprivation and severe
stress in students is caused by early school start times and heavy homework amounts. This not only affects teenagers, but it is also an issue for
younger children. 90% of teenagers are sleep deprived, which can have various consequences pertaining to their health, safety and overall well being.
About 15% of teenage students have over 2 hours of homework per night, some even having 3, 4 or even 5 HOURS OF HOMEWORK! I recently
sent out a survey to my classmates and I discovered that 36.8% of my classmates were spending an hours to an hour and a half on homework. I also
found out that 31.6% of them were spending 2 hours or more on their homework, which is more than the recommended amount for children our age.
Some may think this is helpful to their academic career, but it can actually be very detrimental. In fact, students can stay up doing homework for so
long that they become sleep deprived and when you are sleep deprived, it becomes very challenging to retain information. So really, when students are
doing hours of homework and aren't retaining any information because of sleep deprivation, every single benefit that a homework assignment may have
to offer is lost! Many people believe that homework is helpful, not harmful, but this is a lie. In fact, there is not much evidence to suggest that
homework for students below high school

1. Introduction. Reflective Practice Is A Key Part Of Working
1. Introduction
Reflective practice is a key part of working as a health care professional, including speech and language therapists (SLT), and will be used throughout a
practitioner's career as part of their continuing professional development. It is the practice of experiencing situations and then reflecting on them, which
is how clinicians may enhance their knowledge and skills and, thus, maintain their competence throughout their career as a practicing therapist
(RCSLT, 2003). It is through this reflective practice that an SLT can progress "from novice to expert" (Tarrant, 2013; p3). Furthermore, reflective
practice is a skill which itself continues to be developed.
Reflective practice and professional development are intrinsically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be particularly useful in holistic practices used by SLTs where knowledge gained from other situations and clients may not be appropriate in
the current situation; prior preconceptions about a client may lead to an unexpected outcome that may need to be rectified. The ability to reflect on an
on–going experience will allow the clinician to correct their practices within that situation.
To reflect in action is something all practitioners do; it is a form of professional instinct. In some cases, this may be as simple as monitoring the level
of language used and ensuring it is appropriate for the specific client. However, to truly monitor and adapt practices simultaneously requires a level of
expertise that a novice SLT may not yet have (Findlay, 2008), as they are more likely to need to detach themselves from the situation, requiring more
time to process situations.
2.2. Reflective Cycle (Gibbs, 1988)
The model provides six stages in which a professional may reflect upon their experiences. It focuses on the medium of written reflection and comprises:
(1) a description of the event; (2) a description of emotional responses; (3) consideration of the emotional response; (4) analysis, including academic
research, to understand the situation; (5) conclusions drawn from the experience; and (6) future strategies.
Gibbs' model expands upon Kolb's (1984) Experiential Learning Cycle, and provides methodical steps to follow,

Functional Family Therapy, Differential Response, And...
The implementation of the following is utilized with the Communicare program that I interviewed Functional Family Therapy, Differential Response,
and Reflective Family Practices. As mentioned early the functional family therapy developed by Parson utilizes and combines the following systems:
behaviorism, and cognitive theory in an integrated approach. When this approach is used the therapist takes the position that all behavior in the family is
adaptive. The focus is find out why a behavior exists and is it maintained by other family members. The focus is on cognitions and behavior what the
family members are telling themselves about one another and the specific problems that each may notice (Becvar & Becvar, 2013). In evaluation to the
program they display the theoretical approach they implement with their clients are Functional Family Therapy and their implementation of services to
assist the family in reducing negativity and blaming within the family systems. They also strategize in helping the family increase their hope and that
change can be achieved. And not only is change encouraged by goals is developed to assist in the implementation of the change. The whole goals of
this approach are to help the family recover and improve their family communication and supportiveness by also decreasing the intense negativity so

Managing Work Family Practices At The Workplace
3.0 Managing work–family practices at the workplace
3.1 Introduction
The generalizability of published studies related to harmonising the work and family domains are uncertain. The topic have been carried out in several
studies investigating on aspects such as influencing the impact of practices in particular frameworks (Wood & Stephen, 2007; Beham et al., 2012;
Stock et al., 2013). As earlier scholar in this work and family interaction, Rapoport and Rapoport (1965) reported that the effectiveness of the
interaction between work and family domain involves a certain amount of conflict. This is because of a serious changing point in work and family
role systems. Thus, in this study, we will disclose the important factors associated with the balancing role between work and family at the workplace.
Some of these factors include personal variables, individual personalities, line–manager attitudes, macro–socioeconomic and cultural values (DГЎvila
de LeГіn & Finkelstein, 2011; McCarthy et al., 2010; Poelmans et al., 2003). They are most common influences' on work and family practices or
programmes and have been identified based on the challenges faced by the employees at the workplace.
This chapter introduces the managing WFBPs' phenomenon with the managerial role and their practicing action. It begins with the understanding of the
establishment of the WFBPs at the workplace in the first section of this chapter. There are heavily discussions on this interest topic especially in

Reflection Paper In Counselling
Reflection Paper Throughout the 5–days practice of active listening and basic attending skills in daily conversations, I found it easiest to. On the
contrary, the most difficult experience was practicing empathy which is one of the most essential skills in building rapport and trust with others.
Despite having the ability to show empathic rapport, in which I am able to accurately sense and understand others' feelings by perceiving the situation
through their eyes and perspectives, I struggled in the other component of empathy, which is communicative attunement. I had difficulties verbally
responding to the information about their concerns and feelings. For instance, I had difficulty reflecting their emotions with appropriate terms. This
could be due to my upbringing where my family rarely express our emotions in conversations; we are more inclined to express it through actions.
Hence, I have difficulties coming up with words to accurately capture the feelings and then verbally expressing it as a reflection of the... Show more

While some counsellors are motivated by a strong desire to assist others, the positive experience in a counselling session and the interest in psychology,
some counsellors may have dysfunctional motivations which include emotional distress, the need for love and the desire for power. Should one

Over time, nearly every aspect of American family life has gone through extensive transformations. Just over the past three centuries there has been
overwhelming changes in family's roles and functions, childcare practices, and emotional dynamics. The definition of what is considered to be
"family" has changed due to shifts in social values, the economy, and health. Therefore, there isn't a set definition for the "traditionalfamily" because
family life is a social and cultural construct.
Before the industrial era, family life was just a means of production. The family structure before the 1800's of white middle class Americans consisted
of a male as the head of the family, his wife, and his children. Fathers' were viewed as the owners of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, children were viewed in economic terms and families reared large numbers of children for help with labor on the farm. Due to the lack
of medicine and clean hygiene, the life expectancy of people during this time was very low. It was common for families to lose a child from illness
which is why having many children was common. During these centuries children were regarded as adults at a very young age and were expected to
be involved in "adult–like" behavior. Thus adults were less likely to romanticize their children's childhood experiences. Additionally, privacy was
limited within the family due to the large numbers of members in a household. A common myth that people today believe about family life from
this era is that people were happier, they had fewer problems, and families were stronger. We often hear the phrase, "the good old days". Many of us
cherish romantic notions of what life was like in earlier times because we know so little about it. Family life in the good old days was filled with
many dangers, deprivation, illness, and disease. Not to mention family life wasn't sentimentalized like it is today.
During the industrial revolution there increased an ongoing separation of home and work. As employment moved from inside of the home to outside,
a new kind of urban middle class family began to develop. Farming was soon replaced

The Concept of Family Health in Nursing Practice
Family Health
How does a family work as a system in promoting the health of its members? Family is playing an important part in helping to ensure that patients are
fit and following the advice of health care professionals. This is because the family is a foundation of support for everyone. At the same time, members
can learn about what is impacting their loved one and what kind of procedures need to be followed. When this happens, there will be higher amounts of
compliance as they will ensure that the patient continues to stick with their treatment protocol. (Saleeba, 2009) Moreover, the family understands the
specifics about the individual's condition and their daily routines. This can help health care professionals to decide if the person is following the
proper steps in their therapy. Once this takes place, is the point that health care professionals can make adjustments to reflect changing realities. Those
patients, who have their families involved, will be able to receive better care by ensuring that nothing is overlooked. This is the point that physicians
will have a more complete picture surrounding their underlying levels of health. (Saleeba, 2009) Evidence of this can be seen with observations from
Saleeba (2008) who said, "The family should be updated continuously about the patient's condition and procedures. Keeping the family members well
informed an including them in procedures can have a dramatic effect on decreasing stress. Studies are being

An Article On The Journal Of Family Practice
In June 2015 J. Sloan Manning, MD wrote an article in the Supplement to The Journal of Family Practice where is states that bipolar is linked to
many other conditions. People that suffer from bipolar most likely have some other condition that can be liked together. The life style that someone
carries can have an impact on them. So it is best to be aware of your surroundings and what is best for each person. Several lifestyle behaviors and
risk factors, including sedentary life style(being inactive or seated) , tobacco smoking, and obesity, are recognized as being significantly influential in
bipolar symptom progression and functional impairment (J. Sloan Manning, MD, 20145). Certain behaviors that someone does can lead them to have

Sloan Manning, MD, 2015). Even though it is not known what really causes someone to become bipolar, there are other life style choices and
activities that can have an impact on someone being bipolar or not. There are many other conditions that can be associated with bipolar disorder. To
help manage one condition the other has to be managed as well.
In J. Sloan Manning, MD's article there is a graph from 2 studies that were done in 2014. The graph is showing how people living with bipolar I and
bipolar II have other such conditions that they are struggling with. It is important to get this disorder treated as soon as possible, to lessen the chances
of developing another unwanted disorder. Consequently, choice of clinical treatment still occurs largely on the basis of reducing target symptoms
(psychosis, depression, mania/hypomania and anxiety), resulting often in use of multiple medical or psychological therapies (Hickie, 2014). To avoid
making this diagnosis worse, it is better to get the current symptoms under control as soon as possible.
According to Passos, Jansen and Kapczinski, people that have been diagnosed with being bipolar have showed signs of this disorder before they were
diagnosed. Certain medical condition can be present before the actual diagnoses such as anxiety. A staging model suggests that the way that bipolar
disorder progresses is through a predictable manner with stage appropriate treatments (Passos, Jansen, &

Homework Is No Homework
In recent years, the argument over assigning students tremendous amounts of homework each night continues to grow. In a few districts scattered
across the country, superintendents refuse to allow teachers to assign homework to children. The superintendent of Marion County Public Schools in
Florida recently assigned a "no homework" policy for the current school year, joining districts in Massachusetts and Vermont. Most parents and students
across the country admired the district's decision and hoped their own school system would follow suit. A study from Duke University in 2006 showed
that assigning homework did improve academic performance, but an excessive amount could hurt student's mentality. The famous saying "practice
makes perfect" does prove to help people achieve their goals. The more one practices something, the easier it will come to them. Teachers assign
homework to give students more opportunities to practice what they have learned in class. In that case, some homework should be assigned, but on the
other hand, too much homework becomes unhelpful to the student. For instance, if a math teacher starts on a new section, practice problems will help
the student prepare for the next class. Except, assigning thirty questions of the same type of problem becomes too monotonous. A math teacher should
only assign ten problems at the maximum. At that point, the teacher should answer any question a student might have the following day. Teachers tell
students that the

Methodist Family Health Counseling Clinic is an organization that provides healthcare services focused on various emotional and behavioral
challenges individuals and families can face. Methodist provides many different services all over Arkansas that range from inpatient to school–base
services. They also have eight Therapeutic Group Homes that provide a family–like setting while children are able to receive other needed services
for emotional and behavioral needs. "Children are referred to Group Home care by the state Division of Children and Family Services (DCFS),
churches, parents and other Methodist Family Health programs. The length of stays are generally 9–12 months or longer." (Resources, 2016). Only 6–8
youths are in the house at a time. They live in the home and attend public school while living there.
The populations that Methodist serves is different depending on which service you are considering. In their school–base program the therapist and
caseworker work with a very rural population; however, the rest of the services provided are in more urban areas of the state. These services are
normally sought out either by parents, teachers or from DCFS.
The school–base program in Lincoln is the only school–base program Methodist offers and it serves a population that is in high need of services. There

Why India Started Implementing Family Planning Practices
With a current population of 1.252 billion people, it's easy to tell why India started implementing family planning practices. Overpopulation was
starting to affect India when they gained independence from England (Rubenstein, 2014). The Planning Commission was set up in 1950 to address all
needs of the country and to decide the best way to use resources. The decline in death rate and growth of birth rate left the country no choice but to
find a way to slow down the growth. This led to another branch of the Planning Commission being created in 1952 with the implementation of the
National Family Planning Program in order to aide the country from such "societal ills as hunger, poverty, and national economic distress," which were

The whole of the country would have to adopt the idea of a smaller family as ideal in order for the program to work. This led to an "extension
education approach" which adopted to inform families of contraceptive practices and to provide services to aide in these choices. Following the first
plans summary of what was needed to achieve the goals of the commission, the Second Five–Year Plan aimed to promote family planning to the
population as a whole. The objective was the stabilization of the population to replacement level. Free or subsidized family planning services were
provided during this period to further the objectives of the program. Clinics were enacted where family planning services were established and
sterilization procedures were to take place on a voluntary basis. The Third Five–Year Plan enacted many changes to the previous years. Voluntary
sterilization was enacted and efforts for family planning were intensified through widespread awareness (Koenig, 2013). The emergency period from
1975–1977 led to legislation being passed to attack the problem of population growth. It was made compulsory for families to stop childbearing after
three children during

Family Centered Practice
Description of the major thrust of family–centered practice
According to Sandau–Beckler (2001), the primary drive of family–centered practice is customer "empowerment". She defined empowerment as "the
process of negotiating or eliminating barriers to problem solving imposed by external society" (p. 86). Moreover, she elaborated that the therapist
should present the customer with prospects that would result in empowerment. Similarly, Cohen (2004) mentioned that both the therapist and customer
benefits from this expansion. she further uttered, "You become empowered as you assist in the empowerment of others" (p.42).

My Family Practices : Bonnie Liang And I Am Chinese Born...
I am Bonnie Liang and I am Chinese born Canadian. My family practices Buddhism, however, asides from the main festivities that are celebrated, I
have to admit that I do not know much about my own culture. My parents know more than me about the traditions that should be followed. Even so,
because we live in Canada now, there are also many Canadian customaries that have been included into our lives. Holidays, such as Christmas, are not
normally celebrated in the Chinese culture, but my Family has merged this holiday into it. New years is also supposedly celebrated according to the
traditional Chinese calendar, which varies on any day between January and February. My family used to only celebrate the new year according to the
Chinese calendar, but we now celebrate new years twice a year. The combination of my Chinese and Canadian background has developed a very
unique macrosystem (Bronfenbrenner) for me.
I have a large family which makes me very family oriented. On the contrary, because my family is so large, there are many times where it is
difficult for my whole family to be in the same place at once. The period of my toddlerhood, was right before my dad opened his own business. My
family size was smaller then, and it was easier to spend time together. However, once my dad started his own business, he was always working.
Overload of work caused him to have social withdrawal, a decline in social and emotional responsiveness, towards my sisters and I (Evans & Wachs,

Essay about Dental Office Floor Plan
The dental office floor plan detailed above clearly and cleanly divides the dental space into 3 clear segmented areas: non–clinical (patient and
administration), clinical, (dental delivery) and clinical support (supplies, storage, and laboratory). The non–clinical space has the most diverse user
traffic patterns since patients and family members, clinical, and non–clinical staff may use this area. This non–clinical space should not be blended
with the clinical and clinical support areas. The bottleneck areas are the patient in–take and out–take or registration area of the patient reception desk.
Inherently, all dental practices have practice waste, complexity, and variation built into the dental floor plan or the design ofthe practice. ... Show more

Additionally, the staff bathrooms should not be placed into the clinical areas but near the staff break room located.
Practice design has direct relationship to patient flow. A common held belief indentistry is that there should be a separation between general dentistry
and hygiene. This concept has each dental provider working from dedicated 'general dentistry' spaces, chairs, and setups and dental hygiene can only
perform cleanings in hygiene chairs and rooms. This forms dental 'departmental walls' or work areas done by 'dedicated' function and creates a lot of
walking and patient scheduling delays. The definition of dental inefficiency and ineffectiveness is when staff members walk from the end of one
hallway to another to tell the dentist that the patient is ready for an exam or a procedure.
The concept of "a favorite room" to deliver care for those long, involved procedures must also be eliminated. When all dental operatory or treatment
rooms are designed and equipped identically a provider can deliver the full spectrum of dental care in each and every room. Every dental operatory
then becomes a favorite room. This allows your front desk staff to be more flexible in scheduling both urgent and emergent patients and for dental
assistants to setup patients more quickly. Dental operatories when appropriately dThree practice activity areas affect patient flow and they

Family Medicine And Family Practice
There are many misunderstandings where people mistakenly think that family medicine and family practice are the same thing, but they are
undoubtedly wrong. According to Brown, "family medicine is the academic discipline, composed of knowledge, skills and attitudes. Family practice is
the application of that knowledge in a system of medical care" (Brown, 1979). Dr. Lynn Carmichael also stated that, "an important component in the
definition of the family physician is that he has a 'tenured relationship' in which the doctor and the family members have mutually agreed upon
obligations. No other physician has this unwritten contract with patients of all ages and with the whole family" (Brown, 1979). In other words, family
practice consists of family medicine, but family medicine does not consists of family practice. This is what makes family physicians unique from other
physicians. They have their own bond with the patients without having to having to have some kind of written contract. It gives the patients time to
understand and get to know the physician and have an actual conversation. Whereas for other physicians there is a tendency where the physician is
having a one way conversation where the physician is only talking to the patient and the patient is just listening. Family physicians are distinctively
educated to care for you as a whole person, apart from age or sex. They diagnose and treat critical and chronic diseases and illnesses and provide
patients with monotonous

Spencer found out what was going on between Scarlett and Eric, he became upset and did not speak to Scarlett for two straight weeks. Lola notices
his odd behavior around the hotel and asks Scarlett to go talk to him. They eventually make up. When Scarlett asks what her and Eric were, he avoided
the question and changed the subject. Eric eventually tells Scarlett that he cannot be a boyfriend right now after she catches him fighting with his ex

I Was A New Coach
It was one in the morning but I could not stop now, I refreshed the page again, again and again. My leg was involuntarily bouncing and my eyes were
burning but I wanted to know badly, it was agonizing. I was on vacation and the results from soccer tryouts, which were a couple weeks ago were

standing off to the side of team. Almost too soon the chatter of the group died down and the coach, a small fit man approached us. He told us to
run two miles in under fourteen minutes, which was about six laps around the field. So with no further discussion the group set off at a grueling
pace, happy to race each other. We ran as a unit and I became comfortable with the rhythm of their thumping feet. I was content that I was able to
keep up, considering they had already been practicing for a while. Soon our group was increasingly linear and I found myself unsurprisingly, near
the back. My very bones hurt, rattling as my aching legs continued on purely by effort. I desperately sucked in breath but my throat was tight and it
was not enough. I tried again, and again but my airway was even smaller. It was as if I was in a raging river, moving downstream quickly helplessly
trying to stay afloat, completely out of control. Now I was falling behind the group and I imagined disapproval from the distant foreboding figure of
the coach, so I tried harder. I gasped with renewed vigor and with each exhalation I puffed out with extreme effort. Not even after a minute my pace had

Descriptive Essay About Hockey
As I walk into the rink for hockey practice I often think about where it all began. I push open the doors to the lobby, walk down the steps, and get
the chills as i feel that familiar cool rink air against my face. Just before walking into the locker room I'll take a quick glance over at the freshly

Quickly reminiscing all the years of hard work and determination i've put into this single sport, and how much i've grown on and off the ice. As i go
into the locker room, the same locker room i've always walked into after every glorious win and heartbreaking loss, i can faintly hear the sound of
laughter and the bass of the music in the background, sometimes almost nervous as to what i'm about to walk in to. I'm greeted by my teammates,
already getting dressed for the upcoming practice, with big smiles on their faces. Almost immediately feeling the intense vibe of the locker room, my
heart rate increases just thinking about getting on the ice. More times than most I find myself rushing to get ready due to the fact that i get too caught
up in talking with teammates. Sometimes i sit and get dressed in silence because i have too much on my mind. But by the time i get on the ice all of
the millions of thoughts that are running through my mind throughout the day just fade away. To me that's the most important part, being able to

Descriptive Essay About Quadna
Ring a ding ding dong goes the alarm clock and I'd be up. Springing from my brown bed, and I'd be off to the shower. I would then leap from the
shower and begin brushing my teeth as I would also be trying to dry myself off. Rushing as fast as I could. I would grab my giant red bag filled
with riding gear and check through it frantically one last time to be sure I had everything. Then my Pa and I would be off to the greatest place on
earth; the racetrack. More specifically the practice track, that was raced on about two times a year. The track was formally known as Quadna
Mountain Park. I referred to the track as Quadna like many other riders. Quadna played an important piece in the puzzle of my racing career. Along
with my families support and my own drive and desire, Quadna was one of the most important pieces. When you first turn onto the road to Quadna the
first thing noticed is the giant oval sign with the letters QMP in blue with mountains set behind the letters in the background. As we passed the
sign on the left side of the road, we would always look to our right at the aged and faded gray hotel that some of the racers would stay in to see
which racers were there at the time. After we would go past the hotel we would take a right onto a dirt road that went into what seemed like thick
woods. When the trees were full of snow it looked like a winter wonderland. But about a half a mile down the road it makes a sweeping left handed

  • 1. Family Systems Theory And Its Impact On The Practices Of... Abstract This research paper evaluates the Bowen Family Systems Theory and its impact on the practices of Marriage and Family Counseling. Dr. Murray Bowen is credited with being one of the founders of family systems theory. This paper will discuss the eight concepts which Bowen deemed causes anxiety within the family system. Also, the goals and practices which have been utilized by professionals within the psychology field relation to the Bowen Family Systems Theory. Analysis provides that anxiety is passed along through the family system by the triangle concept and when families are dysfunctional there are several outcomes based upon the concepts developed by Dr. Bowen. The therapeutic structure which is developed by Bowen allows clients to help themselves and lower levels of anxiety over time. Bowen Family System Theory On June 26th 2015 the U.S Supreme court legalized gay marriage in all 50 states, and this was a historic change in how marriage was defined in the US (Procon.org). Over the past couple of decades the traditional definition of marriage and family have changed and includes various backgrounds, sexual preferences, and blended family systems. We find that there are several definitions of family such as the traditional family can include heterosexual couples, single parents, and families including blood relative, adoptive families, foster relationships, grandparents raising grandchildren, and stepfamilies (ceunit.com). • 2. Family Traditions and Practices The regular practices and traditions in a family life have different forms and dynamics, because every family structure and composition has different modes and standards of living. And it depends on the changing aspects of a family that how they perform and practice certain traditions and practices.(Wolin, Bennett, Jacobs, 1988) it can be classified in few groups and categories mention below. (a) Under–ritualized families: The groups of a people who are not interested to follow and celebrate any ceremonies and traditions, in vacations or in free time. They do not involve and organize any family events and festivals. Their domestic and household life is often seems to be blank, unfriendly and cool. They live in society with other people but are least interested to participate in social and cultural practices. These people are not considered very sociable, welcoming, and outgoing to make any relations and contacts. Mostly these people live in a nuclear family style, individuals living separate or often together but in a more democratic and independent way and they can decide and spend their life according to their own will. (b) Families with Strict Practices: People that follow traditions and customs very strictly in an inflexible way and do not tolerate or agree for any changes in their routines, these people mostly have joint family system in developing societies and all the close family members living together and share their economy in a collective way. Essentially, this practice is a family practice which means this practice provides services for one's entire family needs no matter of age, ranging from birth to geriatric. They provide services Such as immunizations, common cold, flu, strep, Mono, ordering diagnostics, wellness checks, yearly physicals, health maintenance, and referrals to specialists, just to name a few. while there I learned, they had eight providers and, adding more with a wide range of services they provide. Also, there are overdue results that patients need to get done, if the computer says it's been too long then the medical assistant must call them patients see if they plan on having them tests done. This is an all–day thing if you have a break with patients you are on the phone. For the most part, medical assistants do not leave at 5 pm. It is very important to know your job duties as a medical assistant and, accurate with the information you accumulate from your patients as you are their advocate. You communicate with family, doctors, specialists, other health care workers concerning your patient's needs. The providers are just as busy as their medical assistant. Most of the providers on the site have services they do that another provider doesn't do such as, DR. Z does some common adjustments of bones and, also monitors pain for patients that have pain issues with some addiction tendencies. He will refer to the social worker on site to discuss and maintain any further addiction issues. My experience working with Dr. Z is, the more you know or the more he can show you the better. • 4. Pediatric Intervention Proposal Overview of the Problem The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that all children be screened for developmental delays using a standardized tool at 9, 18 and 30 months of life. Use of a standardized tool has been shown to improve rates of referral for early intervention and decrease delays in referral when compared with developmental surveillance alone. In our hospital outpatient clinic system, pediatric care is provided both in a 2–site pediatric practice and in 5 affiliated family practice clinics; care is provided by pediatricians, family practice physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Preliminary assessment has found that there is vast variation in the use and documentation of standardized developmental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The clinics are quite different in terms of provider training, size, location, practice mix and clinic flow. A single quality improvement plan that doesn't look at current practice structure is unlikely to be successful in all locations. It would be very helpful to do a site visit at each location and qualitatively assess how early childhood preventative visits are scheduled, what screening processes are currently in place, what training staff have currently on developmental assessment and how documentation is done. Because there are only seven sites, it is feasible to map out exactly how developmental screening fits into preventative care – or doesn't – at each location. At this visit, we could assess staff views on developmental screening, their perceptions about how implementation would affect the practice and their interest in being a site champion. It would also be useful to find out which screening tools different practices are using; the different tools assess somewhat different information and require differing levels of education and time to administer. The site visits would provide information on both the structure of care and the process of developmental screening at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Argumentative Essay On Euthanasia Most of us have been in the position where our pets fall very ill and old. What did we do? Some of us put them down, letting them rest peacefully. Others? We let them live on to carry out their lives naturally. Now think deeper. Is this something we do to humans also? Euthanasia. A singular word with a huge controversial stance. Euthanasia is the practice of physician–assisted suicide to the terminally ill. With such a broad history, the topic has taken the world by storm. Dating as far back in 460 through 370 BC, according to medical news today, it was mentioned in the Hippocratic oath, "To please no one will I prescribe a deadly drug nor give advice which may cause his death." However in the 1300s in English common law suicide was considered a criminal act which included euthanasia. Continuing into 1478 through 1535 Thomas Moore, an English lawyer, a scholar as well as author and statesman, envisioned a utopian community as one to provide death to those whose illness' were dubious of feeling burdensome to lingering pain. Ezekiel Emanuel, erudite in bioethics, stated the modern era of physician–assisted suicide was encouraged by the availability of anesthetics in the early 1800s. Following in New York in 1828 The anti–euthanasia law passed which was the first known laws of euthanasia in the United States of America. A peak and support for euthanasia arrive in the 1900s again 30 years later in 1930 and again in 1960 for an interest of the practice. Yet in 1961 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Family Centered Practice Model Paper In order to provide services to children and families involved with the child welfare system, FGDM's need to come from a family centered and a strengths based approach. When families are given the opportunity to demonstrate their strengths and they are recognized, respected, affirmed they are more willing to make take initiative towards change and use those strengths as their foundation. Family focused services are focused in working with families in order to improve their level of functioning. The entire family needs to be addressed in order to provide a safe, stable, supportive, and a permanent environment for the child (Department of Social Services, n.d). When using the strength based approach with individuals seeking mental health services it has been found to increase self–esteem, self–efficacy, personal confidence, sense of hope and life satisfaction (Tse, et al., 2016). The purpose of the strength perspective is to point out to children and families that are struggling with mental health issues is to remind them of the areas they have flourished in. As social workers and mental health practitioners we are bound to "meeting the client where they are at" by allowing the client to set the pace of their treatment in a manner they can understand. The worst part of my disadvantages is that I have no control over them. As I continue to live life, I struggle to overcome my disadvantages and to shine bright. My biggest disadvantage would be my race. Being an African–American in the United States has always been seen as a negative. From the moment my ancestors were brought to the United States, they were forced to adjust to European customs. They were slaves, forced to do labor and were considered "property" of the white man. Although slavery was abolished, discrimination occurred. Many African–American activist fought and died for African–Americans' rights. There would only be nuance, but today things are going downhill again. Today, the stereotypes of African–Americans are put upon me. I am often judged due to my race. I have been treated intellectually inferior multiple times. People often assume me to be living in poverty and fatherless. Sometimes, people are suspicious of me due to media and newscasts displaying African–Americans as criminals and dangerous. Due to my color, people even believe silly things like me having a love for watermelon, grape soda and fried chicken. Although, none of those things are true about me. • 10. Family System Theory And Early Childhood Practice Edward Teyber once said, "family system theory offers therapists an invaluable way of understanding their clients ' strengths and problems– clarifying the familial rules, roles, myths, communication patterns, and boundary issues that defined their clients ' development." Also, as said in the article Understanding Families Applying Family System Theory to Early Childhood Practice that "a family system theory has a primary concept in which is that the family includes interconnected members, and each member influences the other in predictable and occurring ways." (pg. 5). First, based on the article read "boundaries relate to limits, togetherness, and separateness, what or who is "in" or "out" of the family" (pg. 5, Walsh & Giblin 1988). However, I thought that having boundaries is important in a family because through boundaries we know when we can step into certain areas or when can 't we know. My experience in my family system theory as having boundaries was that was that we each had an individual room, individual spaces, and trust within our own decision. I also was able to give my own opinion but I needed to know which was the right timing and to never step over the adult conversation. In a family "there is usually a peacemaker, a clown, a rescuer, and a victim, although there can be many other roles as well", (pg. 7) this was said in the article that I read. I thought that role was one of the most important on a family system theory due to that the roles in a family are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Practice Of Polygamy Throughout A Wealthy Family In a wealthy family, polygamous housing consists of a separate housing unit for each wife and her children (Metz, 1993). These units can be separate houses or houses within a walled family compound (Metz, 1993). A compound can include a separate house that the men of the family share and use for male gatherings, such as meals with guests or business meetings (Metz, 1993). The practice of polygamy is decreasing significantly due to urbanization, education, development, and the cost of living (Al–Saif, 1997). Generally, educated and employed women have more independence and reject polygamy as a part of their marriage expectations. Gharaib (1991) found that 86.8% of husbands in the Gulf (Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia) have only one wife, 9.6% have two wives, 1.1% has three wives and 0.33% only has four wives; 74.7% had married their relatives; and 25.5% live with their extended families. Al–Saif (1997) found that in Saudi Arabia, only 4.8% of parents approves of their daughters marrying a husband who has another wife. This rate is much lower than the previous rate of 14.5% (Al–Saif, 1997). Traditionally the decision to marry made mainly by both families and marriage is often contracted by agreement amongst families in order to expand their circle of alliances and enhance their prestige (Metz, 1993). A partner is chosen by a person'sfamily , not based on the Western concept of romantic love (Metz, 1993). A woman's opinion may be respected ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She was having a lot more fun with hurling than she ever did with soccer. The day after she was accepted to the team, her practices began. "Aren't you excited for practice?" asked Maeve to Patrick. "I guess a little, but you know that I've been doing this for a long time, right? But I'm very excited for you, little sis." Patrick replied. They left the house for practice and got there soon after. They began their basic warm–ups and Maeve followed along to the best of her ability. I promise to be devoted and try my hardest during practices and games." "Maeve, I remember you being in here a month ago asking the complete opposite," coach laughed, "You can join the team again, but you must be completely determined to become better. You aren't just going to wake up one day and be better at hurling. Remember practice makes progress, not perfect." "Yes, I completely understand. Thank you so much, see you later!" Maeve replied. Later when Maeve got home from school she ran into the house and yelled, "I'm back on the team! I decided that I would play hurling!" "Really? Nice Maeve," her dad replied. INTRODUCTION: Family therapy is a psychotherapeutic treatment of the family to bring about better psychological functioning. It is a highly flexible psychotherapeutic approach applicable to a wide range of child focused and adult focused problems. Family therapy has been viewed as a "powerful, fast and effective method of achieving change within the family" (PoinВ¬ton, 2006). Definition of family therapy: Gurman, Kniskern, and Pinsof (1986) defined family therapy as "any psychotherapeutic endeavor that explicitly focuses on altering the interactions between or among family members; and seeks to improve the functioning of the family as a unit, or its subsystems, and/or the functioning of individual members of the family". Sholevar (2003) defines family therapy as "any use of a family focused intervention to bring out behavioral and/or attiВ¬tudinal changes in one or more family members." Adult: The word adult derived from the "adults" which means grown to full size and strength or matured. • 15. Reflection Paper On Color Guard Hey there! It's Monday, July 17. My sisters and I have packed and we are officially ready to leave for Color Guard camp. We are really excited for what is in store for us over the next few days. Last year's camp was difficult and made our guard wary of coming back for a second try, but hopefully they've fixed last year's issues. The guard met up at the school this morning to be fitted for our fall costumes and we are now on our way to start day one of camp. This year campers are sleeping in Royer Hall, and I must admit, I believe that last year's dorms were nicer, especially considering every two rooms had their own bathroom. Other than the dorms, I admire the intensity of this year's camp much more than last year's. The advanced group's instructor, Rashaud, is a great teacher and I definitely believe that I will be learning and improving with him this week. The main purpose of today was to review the fundamentals of Colorguard such as: extensions on the left and right sides, drop–spins, and a cone exercise. Using what we have learned today, we tried out for our levels; however, he has chosen not to assign groups until tomorrow! In addition, everyone participated in icebreaker games to better familiarize one another and become more familiar with our surroundings. This morning's cardio was strenuous, but the team seemed to get through it easily. After morning stretches and cardio, Rashaud told us what groups to report to. The aim of this study is to investigate how managers understand and manage the work–family balance practices (WFBPs) and how undertaking these new practices impact their dual–level position (i.e. organisation and individual level) in the organisation. To achieve this aim, this study will first explore the work–family relationship that has been broadly and conceptually defined by previous scholars and different conceptual definitions were taken into account. The term used in this study is Work–Family Balance Practices (WFBPs) that will be used to refer to the human resource practices and policies establish by organizations. Namely, these available practices are able to implement amongst workers in the workplace. Although the work life and family life are different, yet they are interconnected (Clark, 2000). Thus, this study views various perspectives when conceptualizing the work, family and work–family balance following on from the earlier discussion. This chapter is divided into seven sections. It starts with the definition of term Work–Family Balance Practices (WFBPs). It then looks at how this term has been alternated and used in different ways. After this brief introduction, the second section will briefly discuss the origin of work and family from a conceptual background of the work–family area related. The third section will continue to discuss the understanding of terms of work and family from the conceptual background of work and family area. The fourth section ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. The Negative Effects Of Homework Have you ever been overly stressed or stayed up all night because of homework? Well according to Dr. Craig Canapari, sleep deprivation and severe stress in students is caused by early school start times and heavy homework amounts. This not only affects teenagers, but it is also an issue for younger children. 90% of teenagers are sleep deprived, which can have various consequences pertaining to their health, safety and overall well being. About 15% of teenage students have over 2 hours of homework per night, some even having 3, 4 or even 5 HOURS OF HOMEWORK! I recently sent out a survey to my classmates and I discovered that 36.8% of my classmates were spending an hours to an hour and a half on homework. I also found out that 31.6% of them were spending 2 hours or more on their homework, which is more than the recommended amount for children our age. Some may think this is helpful to their academic career, but it can actually be very detrimental. In fact, students can stay up doing homework for so long that they become sleep deprived and when you are sleep deprived, it becomes very challenging to retain information. So really, when students are doing hours of homework and aren't retaining any information because of sleep deprivation, every single benefit that a homework assignment may have to offer is lost! Many people believe that homework is helpful, not harmful, but this is a lie. In fact, there is not much evidence to suggest that homework for students below high school ... • 19. 1. Introduction. Reflective Practice Is A Key Part Of Working 1. Introduction Reflective practice is a key part of working as a health care professional, including speech and language therapists (SLT), and will be used throughout a practitioner's career as part of their continuing professional development. It is the practice of experiencing situations and then reflecting on them, which is how clinicians may enhance their knowledge and skills and, thus, maintain their competence throughout their career as a practicing therapist (RCSLT, 2003). It is through this reflective practice that an SLT can progress "from novice to expert" (Tarrant, 2013; p3). Furthermore, reflective practice is a skill which itself continues to be developed. Reflective practice and professional development are intrinsically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be particularly useful in holistic practices used by SLTs where knowledge gained from other situations and clients may not be appropriate in the current situation; prior preconceptions about a client may lead to an unexpected outcome that may need to be rectified. The ability to reflect on an on–going experience will allow the clinician to correct their practices within that situation. To reflect in action is something all practitioners do; it is a form of professional instinct. In some cases, this may be as simple as monitoring the level of language used and ensuring it is appropriate for the specific client. However, to truly monitor and adapt practices simultaneously requires a level of expertise that a novice SLT may not yet have (Findlay, 2008), as they are more likely to need to detach themselves from the situation, requiring more time to process situations. 2.2. Reflective Cycle (Gibbs, 1988) The model provides six stages in which a professional may reflect upon their experiences. It focuses on the medium of written reflection and comprises: (1) a description of the event; (2) a description of emotional responses; (3) consideration of the emotional response; (4) analysis, including academic research, to understand the situation; (5) conclusions drawn from the experience; and (6) future strategies. As mentioned early the functional family therapy developed by Parson utilizes and combines the following systems: behaviorism, and cognitive theory in an integrated approach. When this approach is used the therapist takes the position that all behavior in the family is adaptive. The focus is find out why a behavior exists and is it maintained by other family members. Managing Work Family Practices At The Workplace 3.0 Managing work–family practices at the workplace 3.1 Introduction The generalizability of published studies related to harmonising the work and family domains are uncertain. The topic have been carried out in several studies investigating on aspects such as influencing the impact of practices in particular frameworks (Wood & Stephen, 2007; Beham et al., 2012; Stock et al., 2013). As earlier scholar in this work and family interaction, Rapoport and Rapoport (1965) reported that the effectiveness of the interaction between work and family domain involves a certain amount of conflict. This is because of a serious changing point in work and family role systems. Thus, in this study, we will disclose the important factors associated with the balancing role between work and family at the workplace. Some of these factors include personal variables, individual personalities, line–manager attitudes, macro–socioeconomic and cultural values (DГЎvila de LeГіn & Finkelstein, 2011; McCarthy et al., 2010; Poelmans et al., 2003). They are most common influences' on work and family practices or programmes and have been identified based on the challenges faced by the employees at the workplace. On the contrary, the most difficult experience was practicing empathy which is one of the most essential skills in building rapport and trust with others. Despite having the ability to show empathic rapport, in which I am able to accurately sense and understand others' feelings by perceiving the situation through their eyes and perspectives, I struggled in the other component of empathy, which is communicative attunement. I had difficulties verbally responding to the information about their concerns and feelings. For instance, I had difficulty reflecting their emotions with appropriate terms. • 23. Family 's Roles And Functions, Childcare Practices, And... Over time, nearly every aspect of American family life has gone through extensive transformations. Just over the past three centuries there has been overwhelming changes in family's roles and functions, childcare practices, and emotional dynamics. The definition of what is considered to be "family" has changed due to shifts in social values, the economy, and health. Therefore, there isn't a set definition for the "traditionalfamily" because family life is a social and cultural construct. Before the industrial era, family life was just a means of production. The family structure before the 1800's of white middle class Americans consisted of a male as the head of the family, his wife, and his children. Fathers' were viewed as the owners of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, children were viewed in economic terms and families reared large numbers of children for help with labor on the farm. Due to the lack of medicine and clean hygiene, the life expectancy of people during this time was very low. It was common for families to lose a child from illness which is why having many children was common. During these centuries children were regarded as adults at a very young age and were expected to be involved in "adult–like" behavior. Thus adults were less likely to romanticize their children's childhood experiences. Additionally, privacy was limited within the family due to the large numbers of members in a household. A common myth that people today believe about family life from this era is that people were happier, they had fewer problems, and families were stronger. We often hear the phrase, "the good old days". Many of us cherish romantic notions of what life was like in earlier times because we know so little about it. Family life in the good old days was filled with many dangers, deprivation, illness, and disease. Not to mention family life wasn't sentimentalized like it is today. During the industrial revolution there increased an ongoing separation of home and work. • 24. The Concept of Family Health in Nursing Practice Family Health How does a family work as a system in promoting the health of its members? Family is playing an important part in helping to ensure that patients are fit and following the advice of health care professionals. This is because the family is a foundation of support for everyone. At the same time, members can learn about what is impacting their loved one and what kind of procedures need to be followed. When this happens, there will be higher amounts of compliance as they will ensure that the patient continues to stick with their treatment protocol. (Saleeba, 2009) Moreover, the family understands the specifics about the individual's condition and their daily routines. This can help health care professionals to decide if the person is following the proper steps in their therapy. Once this takes place, is the point that health care professionals can make adjustments to reflect changing realities. Those patients, who have their families involved, will be able to receive better care by ensuring that nothing is overlooked. This is the point that physicians will have a more complete picture surrounding their underlying levels of health. (Saleeba, 2009) Evidence of this can be seen with observations from Saleeba (2008) who said, "The family should be updated continuously about the patient's condition and procedures. Keeping the family members well informed an including them in procedures can have a dramatic effect on decreasing stress. Studies are being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sloan Manning, MD's article there is a graph from 2 studies that were done in 2014. The graph is showing how people living with bipolar I and bipolar II have other such conditions that they are struggling with. • 28. Homework Is No Homework In recent years, the argument over assigning students tremendous amounts of homework each night continues to grow. In a few districts scattered across the country, superintendents refuse to allow teachers to assign homework to children. The superintendent of Marion County Public Schools in Florida recently assigned a "no homework" policy for the current school year, joining districts in Massachusetts and Vermont. Most parents and students across the country admired the district's decision and hoped their own school system would follow suit. A study from Duke University in 2006 showed that assigning homework did improve academic performance, but an excessive amount could hurt student's mentality. The famous saying "practice makes perfect" does prove to help people achieve their goals. The more one practices something, the easier it will come to them. Teachers assign homework to give students more opportunities to practice what they have learned in class. In that case, some homework should be assigned, but on the other hand, too much homework becomes unhelpful to the student. For instance, if a math teacher starts on a new section, practice problems will help the student prepare for the next class. Except, assigning thirty questions of the same type of problem becomes too monotonous. A math teacher should only assign ten problems at the maximum. At that point, the teacher should answer any question a student might have the following day. Teachers tell students that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Overpopulation was starting to affect India when they gained independence from England (Rubenstein, 2014). The Planning Commission was set up in 1950 to address all needs of the country and to decide the best way to use resources. The decline in death rate and growth of birth rate left the country no choice but to find a way to slow down the growth. According to Brown, "family medicine is the academic discipline, composed of knowledge, skills and attitudes. Family practice is the application of that knowledge in a system of medical care" (Brown, 1979). Dr. Lynn Carmichael also stated that, "an important component in the definition of the family physician is that he has a 'tenured relationship' in which the doctor and the family members have mutually agreed upon obligations. No other physician has this unwritten contract with patients of all ages and with the whole family" (Brown, 1979). In other words, family practice consists of family medicine, but family medicine does not consists of family practice. This is what makes family physicians unique from other physicians. They have their own bond with the patients without having to having to have some kind of written contract. It gives the patients time to understand and get to know the physician and have an actual conversation. Whereas for other physicians there is a tendency where the physician is having a one way conversation where the physician is only talking to the patient and the patient is just listening. • 36. Annotatory Tract Infection Paper Every year a familiar scene plays out in clinic waiting rooms, chairs filled with miserable patients waiting to see their physician with complaints of a never ending cough and a constant nasal drip. More than likely, these patients will receive a prescription for antibiotics, but should they? Most acute respiratory tract infections (ARTIs), do not require an antibiotic, the symptoms will resolve themselves over time without antibiotic treatment. Healthcare experts and scientists have warned the public about the dangers of overusing antibiotics, and there are thousands of studies to support that fact, but no one is listening. Patients are convinced they need to have antibiotic treatment, and somehow their time is wasted if they leave empty ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The authors of the study are confident that their quality improvement approach can be successfully replicated in other family practice clinics. The methods used by the project could be easily implemented, the materials from the CDC's Get Smart about Antibiotics are inexpensive and readily available. The article does suggest that their study may have a serious flaw, called the Hawthorne Effect. The Hawthorne Effect or an observer effect acknowledges that both physicians and patients were fully aware they were participating in a quality improvement project. The project would have been more efficient if the participants were unaware they were being evaluated. When individuals believe they are not being observed the results tend to be more trustworthy. Ultimately, the project proved its hypothesis and educated individuals about the risks of overusing antibiotics. Eventually, patients and physicians will learn to be cautious, and let viral infections run their natural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. I Was A New Coach It was one in the morning but I could not stop now, I refreshed the page again, again and again. My leg was involuntarily bouncing and my eyes were burning but I wanted to know badly, it was agonizing. I was on vacation and the results from soccer tryouts, which were a couple weeks ago were going to be posted soon. The 'elite' team I had always been apart of had a new coach, who was renowned for having success. I was so ready to win, and my old team was inadequate. My blinks became longer and I refreshed the page a few more times before I couldn't open my eyes. When I woke up the my family was asleep in the hotel room, it was eerily still. I ran over to the computer, out of battery, I plugged it in and I screamed into my pillow. I checked... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I had a mild appreciation for his fatherly worry but rest assured I knew everything would be fine. With that, I got out of the car waved and gave a thumbs up to my Dad and headed towards my new team. The nervousness receded as I saw some old teammates. I set my bag down and waited, standing off to the side of team. Almost too soon the chatter of the group died down and the coach, a small fit man approached us. He told us to run two miles in under fourteen minutes, which was about six laps around the field. So with no further discussion the group set off at a grueling pace, happy to race each other. We ran as a unit and I became comfortable with the rhythm of their thumping feet. I was content that I was able to keep up, considering they had already been practicing for a while. Soon our group was increasingly linear and I found myself unsurprisingly, near the back. My very bones hurt, rattling as my aching legs continued on purely by effort. I desperately sucked in breath but my throat was tight and it was not enough. I tried again, and again but my airway was even smaller. It was as if I was in a raging river, moving downstream quickly helplessly trying to stay afloat, completely out of control. Now I was falling behind the group and I imagined disapproval from the distant foreboding figure of the coach, so I tried harder. I gasped with renewed vigor and with each exhalation I puffed out with extreme effort. Not even after a minute my pace had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Family Therapy Scope Of Practice Scope of Practice At the end of any educational journey, we all have a dream or a goal for our professional career. My dream is to work with children by working with the family as a whole. By starting with Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), I can educate myself on the workings and dynamics of a healthy family. Understanding how family roles interact, support, and distract from healthy behaviors are the foundation for prescribing tools and techniques to help a family better interact and relate to one another. Through MFT, a counselor can bring families closer together while overcoming emotional walls and challenges through effective communication and listening. As a counselor, I want to specialize with special needs children. Families ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As an MFT professional, there is a separate Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT) exam that must be passed (Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, 2015). In addition to either competency exams an additional exam on rules and laws as they pertain to Oregon stature is expected. Both of these exams, can be enrolled for online, via multiple websites with ease after the licensing board approval. Currently, the application and testing fee for the NCE is listed at $195. Through both websites afore mentioned, there are plenty of resources to help ease the process. For example, a list of licensed supervisors by county is available to obtain the mandatory clinical hours. Furthermore, there are multiple practice tests for the NCE available, as well as for the rules and laws in Oregon. • 40. Descriptive Essay About Hockey As I walk into the rink for hockey practice I often think about where it all began. I push open the doors to the lobby, walk down the steps, and get the chills as i feel that familiar cool rink air against my face. Just before walking into the locker room I'll take a quick glance over at the freshly resurfaced sheet of ice. Knowing in the back of my head but not always thinking about how much time i've actually spent here my whole life. Quickly reminiscing all the years of hard work and determination i've put into this single sport, and how much i've grown on and off the ice. As i go into the locker room, the same locker room i've always walked into after every glorious win and heartbreaking loss, i can faintly hear the sound of laughter and the bass of the music in the background, sometimes almost nervous as to what i'm about to walk in to. I'm greeted by my teammates, already getting dressed for the upcoming practice, with big smiles on their faces. Almost immediately feeling the intense vibe of the locker room, my heart rate increases just thinking about getting on the ice. More times than most I find myself rushing to get ready due to the fact that i get too caught up in talking with teammates. Sometimes i sit and get dressed in silence because i have too much on my mind. But by the time i get on the ice all of the millions of thoughts that are running through my mind throughout the day just fade away. To me that's the most important part, being able to escape reality ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Descriptive Essay About Quadna Ring a ding ding dong goes the alarm clock and I'd be up. Springing from my brown bed, and I'd be off to the shower. I would then leap from the shower and begin brushing my teeth as I would also be trying to dry myself off. Rushing as fast as I could. I would grab my giant red bag filled with riding gear and check through it frantically one last time to be sure I had everything. Then my Pa and I would be off to the greatest place on earth; the racetrack. More specifically the practice track, that was raced on about two times a year. The track was formally known as Quadna Mountain Park. I referred to the track as Quadna like many other riders. Quadna played an important piece in the puzzle of my racing career. Along with my families support and my own drive and desire, Quadna was one of the most important pieces. When you first turn onto the road to Quadna the first thing noticed is the giant oval sign with the letters QMP in blue with mountains set behind the letters in the background. As we passed the sign on the left side of the road, we would always look to our right at the aged and faded gray hotel that some of the racers would stay in to see which racers were there at the time. After we would go past the hotel we would take a right onto a dirt road that went into what seemed like thick woods. When the trees were full of snow it looked like a winter wonderland. But about a half a mile down the road it makes a sweeping left handed turn and opens up into a field where the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
