Prepared for Dr. Norman Lewis BA 2300 Statistics 1 This study is designed to provide the efficiency
status of 38 Hamilton County Judges. The study looked at the number of cases disposed, appealed
and reversed. The information gathered is from data for the Common Pleas Court, Domestic
Relations Court and Municipal Court. Two of the judges, Patrick Dinkelacker and Timothy Hogan
served in two different courts during the three year study period. This report will show the efficiency

Since stock options and warrants are always common stock equivalents, the EPS computation of a
particular company is conditional as to whether the company contains options and warrants. To
compute EPS, take net income and subtract dividends and divide this number the number of
common stock shares outstanding. The effective yield is used to determine a common stock
equivalent. To determine common stock equivalency, 2/3 of the prevailing corporate Aa bond must
be greater than the effective yield. According to Lola Woodard Dudley, "It is hardly surprising that
the effective e yield test correlates poorly with conversation, for the test is based on arbitrary
assumptions and contains rules unrelated to economic activity" (Dudley, 1985, p. 106). The Aa
bonds involve very little risk, and if a company has a large amount of risk then when they do the 2/3
computation, their effective yield will be higher than this number. Therefore, their securities will not
meet the test of being common stock equivalent. The type of disclosure required depends on
whether a company is simple or complex. A simple company shows primary EPS because it only
contains common stock outstand and common stock equivalents. Fully diluted is used for a complex
company in that it contains the primary information as well as convertible bonds and preferred stock

A study into testing the effects of frequency and neighbourhood density on word recognition.
Abstract
The purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of frequency and neighbourhood density on
access to the mental lexicon. This had been done through a written version of the Gating task using
PowerPoint to display the letters. Participants would write on a sheet given to them recording their
spontaneous thoughts as to what the word would be. Once the data had been collected it was
converted into inferential statistics for analysis. There appeared to be a correlation between amount
of guesses and the variables frequency and neighbourhood density. High frequency high
neighbourhood density (HFHN) words were more likely to be recognised faster than the low
frequency low neighbourhood density (LFLN) words. This study suggests that frequency and
neighbourhood density are two considerable factors in word recognition. To further investigate this
study, it would benefit researching into different nationalities to find out whether or not this is solely
an English language trait or cross–languages.

Agreeable personality traits have been known to be associated with a constructive approach to
dealing with conflict but agreeable people have also been known to be aggressive (Weiten, 2007).
Neuroticism relates to people who are anxious or hostile (Weiten, 2007). People who score high in

Summary Of The Film Muriel's Wedding
The film Muriel's Wedding is set in the fictional town of Porpoise Spit, Australia and follows the
journey of self–discovery of the young woman Muriel Heslopp. In searching for marriage, the idea
which she thinks will validate her as a person, she finds herself. In the film, the character of Rhonda
helped me to understand the important message that friendship acts as a catalyst for self–discovery.
The director PJ Hogan uses the techniques of music, cinematography and dialogue to help
communicate that idea.
The first technique, music, is used in mainly in the setting of Hibiscus Island, the fictional
honeymoon destination in which Muriel meets Rhonda for the first time since Year 10. Muriel and
Rhonda are performing in a talent show, with the song Waterloo by ABBA. The song symbolises the
real Muriel, who is present in this scene. Rhonda encourages Muriel to be herself, confidently. This
allows Muriel to truly understand who she really is, the beginning of her journey of self–discovery.
The music is particularly significant, with lyrics in the song such as "knowing my fate is to be with
you" which represents the friendship between Rhonda and Muriel. The song Waterloo is significant
as a whole too, because it's about a battle, which symbolises the interior battle of Muriel between
her true self and the self who conforms to societies expectations. Rhonda singing the song with
Muriel foreshadows how Rhonda will help Muriel through her internal battle and help her
eventually reach self–discovery.
The next technique, which is used in several different scenes is cinematography. In the scene in
which Muriel is trying on wedding dresses behind Rhonda's back, cinematography is used to
communicate the message that friendship acts as a catalyst for self–discovery. Just before Rhonda is
about to leave for rehabilitation, she enters Muriel's room and finds a photo album full of
photographs of Muriel in various wedding dresses. The next shot is and Extreme Close–Up (XCU)
on Rhonda's confused face. Her face appears worried and quite puzzled as she tries to figure out
what was going on. This XCU shot shows how much Rhonda cares about Muriel and the extent to

psychologists use personality testing to determine fitness for employment positions; clinical
psychologists may use the tests in the treatment of their clients; and school psychologists as well as

his son had many admirable qualities for a worker. Although, J.P. Morgan was denied a promotion
when his father requested one, he did receive a promotion in the firm later in his career. In 1860,
Morgan left Duncan, Sherman and founded J. P. Morgan and Company to act as an agent for his

Greed during the Gilded Age was not good, but was still very evident in strikes and lockouts,
politics, and monopolies. Greed is an intense and selfish desire to be better and have more than
others and it can often cause people to get hurt and be put into dangerous situations. During the
gilded age, economy was expanding and most people were motivated by wealth and their own
greed. While greed may be good for the greedy, it is not good for those who are in the way of the
greedy and those who just simply are not greedy. There was a clear divide between bosses and
workers which led to a certain level of disdain between the two; a disdain that could be set off very
easily by the actions of one another. Businesses were booming and economy was expanding, so
business owners had to find a way to stay in business and not let other companies take over. To do
this, they often resorted to cutting wages or even lockouts. The lockouts forced workers to either
quit or agree to a pay cut, but only cutting wages gave workers reason to strike. This greed from
both sides caused conflict which sometimes led to violence. As strikes went on, strikers and bosses
became more desperate. Strikers resorted to violence and bosses called in higher authorities–strikes

Discuss whether the industrial leaders of the late nineteenth century are more accurately described
as "captains of industry" or "robber barons"?
A. Plan of Investigation
This investigation will assess whether the industrial leaders, such as, Andrew Carnegie, John
Pierpont Morgan and John Davison Rockefeller were perceived as captains of industry or robber
barons. In order to evaluate this claim, the investigation will analyze their major contributions to
American Society; how they treated their workers in the factory; and why people questioned their
honesty because of the techniques they used to eliminate their competitors. Mostly secondary
sources were used, as well as some primary sources. Two of the sources used in this essay are The
Robber Barons: The Great American Capitalists by Matthew Josephson and Wisdom from the
Robber Barons: Enduring Business Lessons from Rockefeller, Morgan, and the First Industrialists
by George D. Smith which will be evaluated for their origins, purposes, values, and limitations.
This investigation does not assess any other nineteenth century industrial leaders.

Like any other "Robber Baron" during the late 1800's, J.P. Morgan was no different. He controlled
finance and industrial consolidation and was well–known for being a banker. Credited for being one
of the few to shape the U.S., Morgan did have a lust of power and greed, but that doesn't stop him
from being America's leading businessman. His impact goes as far as the present with the many
companies he created. John Pierpont "J.P." Morgan was born to a New England family on April 17,
1837, in Hartford, Connecticut, being in a well–known family. "James Pierpoint was one of the
founders of Yale University, his grandfather founded the Aetna Insurance Company, and his father

But still, during the late 1800's, "much of the country's industries fell into powerful business
leaders," including Morgan. He was criticized by everyone for a couple of reasons: "he created
monopolies by making it difficult for any business to compete against his"––known as
Morganization; even though he was responsible for leading them out of the 1907 financial crisis, he
was also claimed by muckraking journalists that he "manipulated the nation's financial system for
his own gain," as thousands of workers die in his steel factories, and suffered higher casualties than
even the Civil war. This earned Morgan the "occasional distrust of the federal government as well."
But those reasons didn't stop him to be a man who ended up industrializing America with his vast,
growing, and substantial companies and financial expertise that just saved the railroads and subdued
the country's financial panics. If he also had not fought alongside with Thomas Edison with their DC
(Direct Current) against Tesla and Westinghouse's AC (Alternating Current), the way we use
electricity wouldn't be the same today.
In conclusion, J.P. Morgan is considered more of a "Captain of Industry" for today's modern age
than a robber baron. America would have been a whole different country without his contributions
