An experienced executive and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business with a degree in accounting, Susanne Lieu serves as the managing director of Ruben Companies, a real estate and property management company based in New York City. 2.  An experienced executive and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton
School of Business with a degree in accounting, Susanne Lieu serves as the managing
director of Ruben Companies, a real estate and property management company based in
New York City. When she isn’t engaged in work at her New York office, Susanne Lieu
supports the efforts of The American Foundation for the University of the West Indies.
For more than 50 years, the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies
(AFUWI) has served as a major funding source for the University of the West Indies (UWI)
through an endowment program that helps students in need with scholarships, while also
supporting the efforts of the school’s academic programs through grant funding. Some of
the more notable donors to the fund in recent memory are Harry Belafonte, an entertainer,
and Colin Powell, who served as Secretary of State for the George W. Bush administration.
The foundation survives on donations from these sponsors as well as those from private
citizens. The organization also works to form key partnerships with major companies, other
charitable groups, and UWI graduates to help advance its mission - serving students from
the 16 nations of the West Indies.
